Q: When you're hosting something like this where you're gonna actually be speaking to a group of people, is it a little bit say more daunting a challenge for you because it's more like public speaking as opposed to playing a role as you do on LAS VEGAS, GENERAL HOSPITAL?

Marcil: Well it's definitely interesting. I'm not a comedian and I'm not a host by any means, normally. But . . . I do have a great passion and a great love for . . . the people, all the people that work in Daytime television. I grew up with all these people and the people that I didn't grow up side by side with, I grew up watching and still, watch a lot of Daytime television; and so I pretty much think that the evening is about those people and how hard they've worked all year; and so I'm gonna focus on that and it's really about them and all their accomplishments and not really about me. I'm really just kind of the filler in between things (laughs).

Q: Can you tell me a little bit about this passion you have for Daytime television, because a lot of people don't necessarily give it respect even though it's been a source of many quality people whove gone onto other things.

Macil: Well, you know, my theory is that... if you're getting paid to do what you love to do then you're a success in life; and if that doesn't matter and your passion is cutting grass or if it's acting or...journalism or whatever it is. So I think that...it's just kind of human nature that people are gonna say negative things or not give people as much credit in any genre, really; and...I think it's amazing that people move on from Daytime and do other great things and I think it's amazing that there are people who have been working in Daytime for something like 20 years.

Q: So what's your favorite part about Daytime television as opposed to Nighttime television?

Marcil: You mean making it or watching it?

Q: Watching it.

Marcil: Watching it. Well I personally love ho much you can learn watching Daytime television between Oprah and Dr. Phil, first of all. If you don't have a good set of parents you don't really need them after Oprah and Dr.Phil. They pretty much cover every subject that could possibly come up in your adult life; and I know that I pretty much look to those two shows every day to figure out any problem that I might have; and I think Ellen DeGeneres is really the funniest woman alive. So there's laughter and all of the Daytime shows, there's really something for everybody. I think that GENERAL HOSPITAL is the most realistic daytime show there is and you know and then you can go from there all the way up to a show like PASSIONS, which is probably the most fun and the most a kind of crazy and out of the box. So there's really something for everybody on Daytime television and I think it's a great genre and it's just as important as Primetime television.
