Marcil on GH

Party Preparations

Q: How will you stay impartial? Will you be cheering for the GH people?

Marcil: Well, I'm hoping one of the reasons they asked me is because they really want me and I think everybody knows that I can brutally honest most of the time (laughs). So, I do have a great love and respect for all of Daytime people and I really have a connection with people from all of the different shows. But it will hard to contain my glee when....you know, when I'm speaking of the people from GENERAL HOSPITAL or when people from GENERAL HOSPITAL win, cause I grew up there. They're like family to me. So I'll do my best (laughs).

Q: Yeah, and Maurice ( Benard, Sonny) is up for one too.

Marcil: Yes, he is and we both ironically won our first together last year . . . It just seems unbelievable to me that Maurice has been in Daytime for I think over 10 years, and that was his first Emmy.

Q: Was there talk about a co-host? Because I was thinking Josh Dumel (ex-Leo) would have been great since you guys are on LAS VEGAS together and he was on ALL MY CHILDREN.

Marcil: There was talk of a co-host...the Josh thing was just a rumor. We were gonna have Dr. Phil for a second, but it was really hard to figure out everybody's schedule; to make it work. So... I'm in awe of Dr. Phil, so luckily he will still be there and I can still stare at him from the stage (laughs).

Q: Do you miss going to work on GENERAL HOSPITAL?

Marcil: Yes, I miss GENERAL HOSPITAL every day. I'll always miss it over there because I was a kid when I started there, and it's kinda like missing your home and your family.

Q: Tell me what your reaction was when they first approached you to host this show.

Marcil: Well, when they first approached me, my reaction was yes automatically because it was kinda like a dream come true. I remember 10 years ago going to the Emmys for the first time and feeling afraid that somebody was going to kick me out at some point and found out that it was a mistake and that I was kinda stalking Oprah and staring at her through the whole show. I was pretty in awe, and so to now be hosting it is kinda unbelievable to me, that I kinda went through a Libra stage afterwards, thinking I can't do this, I'm not a comedian, I'm not a model-type girl who can walk across the stage in different dresses 'cause that's not me. I'm kinda of like a...you put on one thing for the night, and that's what you're in (laughs). I'm not really a fashion plate.

Q: Are you going to make a lot of costume changes?

Marcil: No. I'm not costume-change girl. No, I'm not. There's a few things that I'm going to be doing that will be unconventional and not of the norm. That's kinda me, that's my personality.
