Tuesday night saw the guys going at it for a spot in the Top 13. Joshua Ledet and Colton Dixon truly made their mark. Joshua put his powerhouse vocals on display, while Colton revealed a completely new side, jumping on top of the baby grand and rockin’ out. By the end of the night, America found out that the coveted 25th spot belonged to Jermaine Jones. Like Joshua and Colton, he also did his thing, proving himself fully worthy of the judges’ decision. On Wednesday, Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanagh, Shannon Magrane, Skylar Laine, and Elise Testone all proved they have what it takes to secure a spot in the final 13, making it easy on voters across the nation. Then came the Wild Card Show. Joshua, Colton, Jermaine, Heejun, Phil, and these five lucky ladies made up the group of 10 guaranteed to stay another week, while the others faced some extremely stark criticism from music mogul Jimmy Iovine, and then waited, longing for a chance to be 1 of 6 Wild Card picks. After my own experience being the final person chosen to “sing for my life”, I can tell you this is probably one of the most nerve-wracking experiences I’ll ever endure. Yet, when I was finally chosen and my adrenaline was going, I sang like I’ve never sung before. Jen Hirsh, Jeremy Rosado, Brielle Von Hugel, DeAndre Brackensick, Erika Van Pelt, and Reed Grimm were the 6 contestants chosen to fill the 3 final spots. After some killer performances and much debate, Erika, Jeremy, and DeAndre breathed a sigh of relief and made their way over to the other 10, forming America’s Top 13.
What do you guys think about this top group? Would you have chosen differently? Talk to me on Twitter @robbierosenlive! That’s all for now, so excited for Wednesday night when the Top 13 take the stage singing the hits of my idol, Stevie Wonder!!!
