Coming off an extremely drama-packed week, the contestants knew they really had to bring their "A-game". Joshua, Skylar, and Phillip truly stood out, taking on this week's theme, "Now and Then". Joshua continued with his soulfulness, showing real passion in both "I Believe" and "A Change Is Gonna Come"; Skylar stayed true to her country roots, changing up Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and Marvin Gaye's "Heard It Through The Grapevine"; and Phillip also made things interesting, impressing the judges with Usher's "U Got It Bad" and Wilson Pickett's "In The Midnight Hour". After all was said and done, Elise, Hollie, and (surprisingly) Colton found themselves in the bottom three Thursday night. Colton, who had not been in this position even once before, eventually got the boot, bringing his incredible Season 11 IDOL journey to an end. Before singing one last time, he spoke about picking better songs for his record…well, I wouldn't doubt it if my Season 10 buddy and Season 11 standout has many very successful ones in the years ahead.
