By Lauren Flynn Kelly Posted: Nov 24, 2010As our favorite soap characters give thanks in this week's special Thanksgiving episodes, I feel inspired to list a few things I feel thankful for this year, professionally and personally. For starters, I'm grateful to have just celebrated by five-year anniversary at Soap Opera Digest. If you had asked me 10 years ago what I wanted to do with a career in journalism, an editorial job at Digest would have definitely been on my wish list. I was, and still am, obsessed with soaps and now I get to watch them live AND interview the actors. Moreover, I work with the most creative, talented and hardworking staff in the biz! I'm also thrilled, of course, that the show I cover, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, survived another year on the air at a time when everyone loves to say, "Soaps are dying." I hope next year that saying gets old. On a personal note, I could not feel more blessed to be expecting the arrival of a little lady I've been carrying for eight months. And very grateful that I'm not a soap character and am not likely to deliver my baby in jail or in a cabin with my sworn enemy — although, with a December 20th due date, I guess you can't rule out a blizzard!
