This week's DOCTOR WHO was a treat for old-school fans such as myself, thanks to the return of the Sontarans. I found it rather brave that the-powers-that-be brought back such funny-looking foes without a radical redesign. (That "baked potato" crack has been a running joke in fandom since the 1970s.) Even better, we get a proper U.N.I.T. story! While U.N.I.T. has been mentioned in passing on the new WHO ("Aliens of London" and "World War Three") and on TORCHWOOD, we haven't seen a real, full-scale UNIT story until now. The series also reached all the way back to last season for Martha Jones (once again played by the lovely Freema Agyeman, complete with her theme music). I love it when a show utilizes its history.

I read my colleague Lauren Flynn's blog from last week with great interest. Our office went nuts when Snoop did his brilliant cameo on ONE LIFE TO LIVE (I still can't get his cover of the show's theme song out of my head!) and I'm glad to see that although it took some coaxing, her boyfriend (who I love) finally capitulated and treated himself to the fun episodes in which Snoop appeared. (And he even became intrigued by the other stories. Good job, ONE LIFE!) I've been talking up those eps so much that two of the men in my life are coming over to watch them tonight on my DVR!

You know, I've known about what would happen at Rex and Adriana's wedding for weeks. I've seen the pictures. I've spoken to the actors.

SMALLVILLE wrapped up its seventh season last night by tying off the ongoing Brainiac storyline. Unfortunately, that meant the end of the line for James Marsters (ex-Spike, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER). The reveal that Brainiac was posing as Clark's cousin, Kara, was supposed to be a surprise, but I knew something was up when "Kara" callously killed three people.

I love it when GL mentions beloved characters who are no longer on the canvas. Maureen was given an appropriate nod recently and this week, longtime rivals Blake and Dinah (who both, mind you, have been each others stepmother in the past) shared a rare chat wherein they agreed about missing Ross. It was sweet and I'm sure viewers, like me, appreciate the sentiment.

Is it just me or do other GH fans think this way, too? I just don't know how to feel about Claudia. First, I hear Sarah Brown is coming back. Yay! But, she's playing a new character. Well, okay. That's weird, but I don't want Laura Wright to leave. I like her Carly. So, okay, I'll go along with it. Enter Claudia. She immediately sleeps with Sonny.

I knew it was just a matter of time, but I'm in a lather about soap diversity again. And, no, it's not about AS THE WORLD TURNS. Guess who gets to board the failboat this week? THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL! It's uncharacteristic enough that B&B's Los Angeles is the whitest white that ever whited (and the straightest straight that ever straighted despite focusing on fashion design) but then, this week, the show introduced a new character of color. Cause for celebration, right? Oh, no, my friends...oh.no.

See, this is why I make a lousy AMERICAN IDOL fan: I really, truly dislike every one of the final three contestants. Choosing among them is definitely a "lesser evil" situation for me. Last night's results show opened with an utterly bland rendition of "Ain't No Stopping Us Now." (Well, not quite; one of them was about to be stopped in her tracks…) David Archuleta — hereafter referred to as "David A." — appeared nervous and so out of his element during his solos that he actually looked pained; David Cook and Syesha fared a little better, but the poor song was just brutalized. The entire performance was just bad elevator music — a freight elevator at that. Not losing the…er, momentum, IDOL returned from a commercial break so the kids could murder "How Far Is Heaven" as part of an in-house Ford commercial. Seriously — these are the final three?!

I am loving OLTL these days — the fabulous remote, Rex and Adriana's wedding fiasco, David Vickers and the Buchanan scam — but the sex scenes between Antonio and Talia this week were a total turn-off for me.

I was buying a shirt I didn't need in Macy's over the weekend and I noticed that the 20-something sale clerk assisting me was wearing a name tag that read Daisy.
