I am of course, thrilled for Maura, Michael, and Julie's win. I am so proud to have had the opportunity to watch Michael and Maura through the years - and Julie, a more recent addition, but nonetheless, fit right in with the other outstanding actors on ATWT. Now for the questions - inquiring minds want to know, and can you SOD get us the answers - why, on earth was time wasted on trivial and off-topic items, while the tribute to ATWT was so short? I was very disappointed. Every one of those actors should hve been up on the stage to receive the applause they deserved for all that they, and the writers have done for daytime soaps. Outrageous. Second, why wasn't anything at all said about Helen Wagner? For heaven's sake. Now my opinion - there is a lot of talk about if soaps will survive. The actors are mostly superb, the storylines classic. However, networks like CBS couldn't give a hoot - no Red Carpet, and nothing this AM on CBS This Morning. Ho, hum - they don't care. I think soaps need to continue to look at innovative options, including possibiities on cable stations. For example, short-episode cable series are thriving. Better to have a limited but recurring series, than no show at all. For I do believe they all will be gone soon, if creative people do not find a way to save them in a new form. Consider. Thank you!

I've been saying for a while that CBS especially wants to get out of the soap game. That farce of an awards show was proof. Disgraceful best describes the treatment ATWT received last night.

First I have to say I love you Regis but the show was beyond awful. How can the Bold and the Beautiful be the best soap. To me the soap is a laughing stock. I think it makes fun of soaps. Plus the tribute to As The World Turns was so awful and as someone said no mention of Helen Wagner. It was a joke. So disappointed. I swore I wasn't going to watch because I think so many shows and people were overlooked. What a waste of time and energy. I do like that Maure West won and the guy who plays Jack I don't know why I can't remember his name right now but I can't. Good for them. Some show better pick them both up! The ball was really dropped this year. B&B please.

I agree with on B&B winning best soap yet again. A half hour show that is really a lot of dribble in my opinion that I stopped watching long ago. Am totally thrilled for Michael Park & Maura West. Michael Park's speech was the best when he mentioned having to say goodbye and hoping it doesn't happen to anyone else. As for the tribute to ATWT I agree that every cast member should have been on that stage. They should have been given the tribute that Dick Clark & Bandstand were given. As for no mention of Helen Wagner or Frances Reid (DOOL) for that matter they should be ashamed of themselves. These two women were icons and deserved some recognition. The show was 10x better then last year's farce on the CW but it also was lacking in so many other ways!

I'm with you. I know I'm going to come across as an azz for saying this, but who really cares that much about American Bandstand? I mean, we are talking about a show that hasn't been on the air since 1989. Why are they even bothering with a tribute. This should have been a tribute to Guiding Light or As The World Turns. It really sucks that GL didn't even get a mention. Not to mention that they failed to pay respect to people that we lost such as Helen Wagner, Frances Reid (DOOL) & James Mitchell (AMC). There has never been a show where they just left that off. I think it was a slap in the face to those actors and the mark they left on daytime. And as far as B&B winning for best soap.....well, that's just laughable. They shouldn't have even been nominated. In my opinion it should have been OLTL that took home the trophy, but they weren't even mentioned...another slam to daytime tv in my opinion.

I agree with everything said here. I hate that we got that huge tribute to American Bandstand, yet we don't even get clips of the nominees. And the "tribute" to ATWT, too short, too many characters not shown, like James Stenbeck and Emma, off the top of my head. So happy for Maura West and Michael Park, I couldn't stop crying. At least ATWT had a shining moment in what had to be a horribly emotional week, with production stopping on Wednesday. But I DVR'd it and watched it in no time. There was so little time devoted to actual daytime programs and actors. I wonder how much the tourism bureau of Las Vegas paid for that 2 hour Vegas commercial masquerading as the Daytime Emmys?

I turned the show off after the kid from The Bold and the Beautiful won. I don't get their win at all. It so doesn't make sense. B&B makes fun of daytime. It is a joke not a soap. And funny on Soapnet they took polls and almost all the people who won lost in their polls. It is sad. I don't really have anything against the people that won but the one's that were overlooked.

I love Dick Clark, but that was not the show for this. It should be the Grammys or American Music Awards. What it boils down to is CBS being the crappy network it is thought they could bring in bigger audience with that and all the Vegas nonsense. Shows how LITTLE respect they have for daytime. I am still steaming.

So I see I was not the only one who was so dissapointed in the Emmy's.. When the so-called ATWT tributed ended I said to my husband ( yes I made him sit thru a 2 hour Las Vegas tourism commercial) "that was it?? and this is their own network doing the show!" I swatched B&B over the years on and off but I stopped recently because it is so repetative, over and over, recapping, repeating and they are the best???? And Thomas winning was a joke, he is never on! I can't even remember his last stoyline! GH will be my last soap come September so no more Emmy's for me...they are a joke!
