AMC Week of April 13, 2009
Monday
JR caught Krystal visiting the Hubbards. Jesse was reluctant to let them see Little A and sent them away.
David and Scott discussed Scott's involvement in a new medical venture, a synthetic heart valve. David downplayed to Scott the source of Stuart's disdain for him. Scott became suspicious when David wanted to take his research home. David copped to having developed a valve of his own and
wanted to invest in Scott's project. Scott said that he wasn't getting a good vibe from David. JR listened in as Scott told David to take a hike. JR approached Scott after David left and Scott filled him in about his chat with Hayward. He told JR about his heart valve project and that David is working on something similar. "Looks like someone needs to beat him to the punch," said JR.
Frank did a poor job at the hospital of hiding his tryst with Randi from Angie. Frank and Randi went to ConFusion, where they met up with Brot and Taylor. Jesse and Angie arrived, filled with dread about Frank's impending departure. Jesse addressed the group about how proud he and Angie were of Frank and how much they would miss him. When it was time to say good-bye, Randi slipped across the room. Frank caught up with her and told her it was time to go home.
Zach broke away from his kiss with Kendall. She apologized and ruminated on her need to be loved by all people at all times. Zach accused Kendall of wanting him and Ryan, which Kendall noted was impossible. Zach insisted to Kendall that he doesn't need her. Kendall wondered if they could do this, by which she meant, live together without hurting each other. When the phone rang, Zach answered it; it was the police calling for Kendall. Kendall took the phone and learned that Erica was missing.
Broken down by the side of the road with Ryan, Erica flirted with her daughter's beau. Erica stood on Ryan's shoulders in the hopes of getting cell phone reception and they ended up tumbling to the ground. Ryan carried an injured Erica to an abandoned cabin. Ryan provided Erica with the means to give herself a bath. Erica reiterated to Ryan that she wanted him to stay away from Kendall. Ryan opined that he didn't think Kendall really loved him but said that he does love her. In the bath, Erica continued to press Ryan not to interfere with Kendall and Zach's love, and she mused about her own
romantic history. She began squealing when she saw a bug "the size of a poodle."
Krystal met up with David at the hospital and warned him that Little A had already spoken to the judge in the custody hearing. David went to see Ian at the Slater house and Zach pressed him to explain the possible complications of Ian's situation. David warned that Ian might require a new heart valve.
When Krystal went to ConFusion, Angie paid for her drink and told her about the farewell party for Frank that was occurring across the room. Jesse came to take Angie home and told Krystal he would see her in court tomorrow. Angie admitted to Krystal that she misses her. "I miss you too," seconded Krystal, agreeing that she hoped they could be friends again after the trial. Krystal looked at a picture of Babe on her cell phone, then dialed a number. A woman
answered and Krystal hurriedly hung up.
Kendall and the cops examined the site of Erica's abandoned car. Kendall feared that her mom had been kidnapped.... Kendall and the cops burst into the cabin and caught Erica and Ryan in a seemingly compromising position (as he rescued her from the huge bug).
Tuesday
Aidan visited Annie at Oak Haven. He looked for his cell phone, which she had pocketed. She managed to keep him from finding it. After he left, she sneaked out of the hospital and went to see Emma. Emma caught up with her mom, who hid when Corrina came downstairs. Emma got rid of Corrina, but then Ryan came home, so Annie had to slip out. Aidan intercepted her in the hallway. He asked for his phone back but she had left it in the penthouse. Ryan heard it ringing and picked it up, confused as to how it had gotten there.
Kendall and the cops entered the cabin and found Ryan and Erica in a misleadingly compromising position. Kendall demanded an explanation. Erica said that she would explain everything later and urged Kendall to return home. She told Kendall that she couldn't have two husbands, no matter how
much she believed she deserved them. Erica refused to leave with her daughter and headed out on her own. Kendall assured Ryan of her love for him, insisting that she and Zach were over. Ryan didn't want to be caught in the middle of a love triangle, and told Kendall to make a choice.
David and Zach discussed Ian's condition at the Slater house. David's mind was on Little Adam. After David left, Reese arrived. She sympathized with what he was going through and offered to help however she could. Before Reese left, Zach told her not to give up on the idea of reuniting with her
family. She advised him to do the same. Once alone, Zach called Bianca. Later, Kendall returned home and told Zach about what had happened at the cabin. He made a barb at Ryan, upsetting her. She left the room and returned with the signed divorce papers.
After hanging up on the mystery woman she'd phoned, Krystal was lost in thought at ConFusion. Adam phoned her and summoned her to the mansion, where, during their meeting, he put a serious scare into her by revealing that he knows her secret. Erica arrived and noted that Krystal seemed extremely shaken. Adam evaded her questions about what had transpired between him and Krystal.
David blasted his attorney for not warning him about Little Adam speaking to the judge in the custody case. Krystal returned home looking ashen; she told David that she was under the weather. She told him she wanted her anxiety pills; he reluctantly agreed.... Alone by the Wildwind fire, Krystal stared at a baby picture and wept after throwing it into the fire.
David creeped into the mansion through the tunnels and found Erica in the study. She told him to leave; he refused, seeking information and reminding her that she owes him for saving the lives of Ian and Kendall. Erica told David that Krystal had been to the manse earlier and that Adam was in a
celebratory mood. David wondered what Adam had on Krystal. Erica didn't know.
Wednesday
Angie reassured Little Adam before the beginning of the custody hearing. When he was taken to a waiting room, Jesse assured Angie that the boy would be fine. They agreed that they missed Frankie and Angie hoped that Little A would be going home with his dad.
JR went to the Martin house to demand that Amanda testify against David. Jake and Tad didn't want Amanda to subject herself further to David's wrath, but she was willing to testify. Tad asked JR to take her off the witness list in order to protect Amanda and her baby. He complied, and the Martins went to the courthouse. JR worried that Little Adam would be scarred by the whole affair, and Tad acknowledged that the boy would have questions.
David said that he knew about Krystal's visit to Adam, which had obviously scared her. She denied it. They then went over their testimony with their attorney at Wildwind. Krystal was distracted. David reminded Krystal that everything was riding on her performance on the stand.
Erica told Adam about David's visit to the manse. He wouldn't reveal the leverage he had over Krystal but said he felt great; she didn't buy it. Adam said as long as Erica was there, he'd do just fine. Alone with Colby, they discussed how Liza had taken Colby away from Adam. Afterward, Adam thanked Colby for choosing him over Liza. Erica came back and told Adam that she couldn't go with him to the hearing because of a crisis at the studio.
Tad encountered Krystal at the courthouse and told her that he was sorry to hear she'd lost the baby. He urged her to testify about David's true character; she defended her hubby.
JR and Little A had a loving reunion in the judge's chambers. Little A was equally thrilled to see his grandfather when David arrived. JR suggested that they spare Little A from going on the stand by asking him where he wants to live. David refused. Jesse entered and warned the men that court was convening. David and JR reluctantly left Little A and went to the courtroom. When the hearing got underway, the judge questioned Little A, who spoke positively about his dad and his grandparents. Adam shot a menacing glance in a freaked-out Krystal's direction. JR took the stand next and faced tough questions about his drinking. Then, Adam was questioned about kidnapping his grandson. Adam appeared forgetful and had an attack while on the stand. Paramedics were called but before he left the courthouse, Adam
whispered something to Colby.
At the Martins', Jake and Amanda pored over prenatal brochures. The adoption attorney, Roger, arrived with bad news for Jake and Amanda: He didn't believe that Jake was the dad. Amanda admitted they haven't been 100 percent honest but said they had their reasons. Roger suggested they come clean, in case the adoptive parents have questions, and left. Amanda said she'd need to do whatever it took to keep her baby safe from David. Jake assured Amanda that he had a plan germinating, then gave her a foot rub. "I could get used to this, until I blow it," Amanda remarked. Jake covered her up with a blanket, and called Amanda called him her knight in shining armor, then drifted off to sleep.
At the hospital, Taylor overheard Brot making arrangements to travel alone to Orlando. Taylor told Brot that she had hoped to join him on his first speaking engagement but understood that he wanted to go by himself. She asked him to pick up a set of mouse ears for her. Then, Randi arrived with her laptop. The threesome had a video conference with Frankie. He insisted he was safe. Randi got teary and walked off. Taylor followed her. Frankie
told Brot that he really was fine and making the best of things. "You take care now, man," Brot insisted. "Twenty-four seven," Frankie replied. Randi returned, and Frankie assured his wife that he'd stay safe.
Back in the courtroom, David advised Krystal not to feel sorry for Adam. Just then, Krystal was called to the stand to testify.
Adam was admitted to PVH, where Joe read Adam's test results, which so far, indicated nothing. Erica showed up after Colby called her and tried to dissuade Joe from looking into Adam's hospitalization while in Philadelphia. Once alone, Adam said everything was going as planned. Erica questioned his forgetfulness on the stand; Adam dismissed it. Just then, Colby called to relay Krystal's testimony. Together, Adam and Erica listened in to Krystal's testimony. When asked if she believed that she and David should raise their grandson, Krystal shocked the courtroom by saying "no."
Taylor gave Brot an iPod with one song on it, the song they danced to in Iraq. They shared a dance again.... Jake made a call to someone who asked about Colby.... Adam gloated about the chaos in the court. David asked Krystal what she was doing, as did the judge. Krystal told the court that David wasn't the man people think he is, causing Adam to light up like a Christmas tree.
Thursday
Annie met with Dr. Burke and talked about how badly she wanted to see Emma.
Ryan summoned Aidan to the penthouse to return Aidan's cell phone to him. Aidan claimed that he had sneaked in to take a picture of Emma for Annie. Ryan didn't buy it. They bickered over Annie and what was best for Emma. Ryan threw him out then placed a call to Dr. Burke. When Aidan got back to Oak Haven, the administrator broke the news that Annie was being transferred to another facility at Dr. Burke's request. Aidan insisted on seeing Annie, who was in a panic over being moved. Aidan explained what had happened with Ryan, who he thought was behind the transfer. Aidan assured Annie that he would find her. The attendants wouldn't let Annie take her picture of Emma with her and drugged her. In her woozy state, she saw Aidan reassuring her.
Kendall went to the hospital for a follow-up with David, who had taken a personal day. Joe told her that Erica was there with Adam. Adam listened in via cell phone (thanks to Colby) to the courtroom proceedings, where Krystal's testimony (that she and David should not get custody) had created an uproar. Krystal said that David wasn't the man the judge thinks he is. A stunned David begged her to retract her statement. Krystal told the court about David's various machinations. David denied Krystal's allegations. Tad piped up to support Krystal's words. In his hospital bed, Adam cheered the turn of events at the courthouse. Erica had to stop him from leaping out of bed. Kendall caught up with Erica and told her that she'd signed the divorce papers.... David got so worked up in the courtroom that the judge had him removed. Jesse followed him out and David railed at him about Adam getting Little A.... Krystal testified that David had physically hurt her, and while the judge was rendering her verdict, Krystal tried to talk to David. He wasn't amenable, to say the least, and stalked off. Krystal watched as Little Adam ran into the courtroom and into his daddy's arms (JR had proved victorious). JR and Colby thanked Krystal for her testimony. Tad praised her most effusively. He was floored when Krystal said that she wanted to save her marriage.... Angie and Jesse said an emotional good-bye to Little Adam. Angie was worried about Krystal.
Erica expressed her dismay to Kendall about her choice of Ryan over Zach. She insisted that Kendall was destroying her life and was too blind to see it. Later, Kendall brought Spike over to Ryan's and told Ryan that she had signed the divorce papers. Ryan said that that didn't change anything, that until she moved out, they were on hold. He assured Kendall that he does love her. Kendall told Ryan that she does want a life with him; he kissed her passionately.
Erica rejoined Adam in his room. He sassed her, so she walked out without fulfilling his request (that she hand him his pants). Joe came to see Adam and told him that he wasn't releasing him. Adam's spirits were lifted by a visit from JR, Colby and Little Adam. Adam insisted that he had been faking his episode in the courtroom. When JR got home, he tried to explain to Little Adam why they had been separated and assured the boy of his love.
Krystal went to Wildwind, where David was sitting pensively in the window. He held Adam responsible for her under-oath change in tune. He begged her to tell him what Adam had on her. She broke down crying and told him that it was too late. After David left, Tad arrived and Krystal sobbed in his arms.
David went to the hospital and, after doing something mysterious with the drug cabinet, entered Adam's room. He demanded to know what Adam had on him and lorded a syringe over him to help encourage Adam to loosen his lips.
Friday
At Wildwind, Krystal sobbed in Tad's arms. She evaded his questions about why she had turned on David.
Brandishing a syringe, David demanded that Adam tell him what he'd done to get Krystal to testify against him. Scott knocked David out and summoned Jesse. David's ally, the nurse, told Jesse that Scott's attack had been unprovoked. Jesse told David that he'd arrest him if he continued to harass the Chandlers. Scott and Adam caught up and Scott told Adam about his new venture. When Krystal arrived, she told Adam to tell Scott to leave. She demanded that he keep his lips zipped about her secret. Adam gave her a slip
of paper with an address on it. Krystal left; Scott returned and continued discussing the heart valve. When Adam found out that David was Scott's competition, he offered Scott whatever funding he needed.... Krystal went to the address on the paper. It was a gravestone. When she read the headstone, she gasped, "Oh, my God, no!"
Amanda dreamed about giving birth, which turned into a nightmare when David entered the vision and stole the baby. She woke up screaming; Jake comforted her and assured her that the new female lawyer he'd found for them understood their situation and would protect them. Jake told Amanda that he believes in her and pulled her into a kiss. She broke away, worried that she was destroying his life. Jake insisted that he was where he wanted to be. After Jake left, David showed up and told Amanda that JR had won custody of
Little A. He added that Amanda's baby was going to have a great life — with him. David scoffed when Amanda claimed that the Martins would protect her, but Tad emerged and told David not to be so glib. Jake then entered, pointing a gun at David. After threats were exchanged, David left. Amanda threw her arms around Jake and Tad took the gun away from his brother and returned it to the locked shed. Amanda thanked the guys for sticking up for her. After she left, Tad stated the obvious: that Jake was in love with
Amanda and her baby.
Ryan and Kendall kissed and exchanged "I love you's". She pulled back, noting that she had to get home to Ian. They agreed that they would make their relationship work; she left. Opal stopped by and when she started probing him about Kendall, Ryan lost his temper and said he would not give Kendall up.
Zach brought in Ian and told Angie that if anything happened to his boy, he would take down the hospital. He demanded that she find David. Angie assured Zach that Dr. Shepard was perfectly capable of handling Ian's case. Zach apologized for flying off the handle and informed Angie that he and Kendall had split. Kendall showed up, livid that he hadn't called her about Ian. Zach said that Ian would be fine but she remained upset. He told her that he had no feelings for her. They met with the doc, who wanted to keep Ian
overnight for observation. Kendall didn't think it was a good idea that they both stay with him (on account of all the tension); Zach agreed to leave. He went to the casino and was warned by Francesca about a possible card counter, a woman. Zach said that he'd take care of it and approached the woman (Jamie Luner's Liza!), who immediately began to flirt with him. Their blackjack game ended early when they began making out. After agreeing not to exchange names, they had sex on the card table, while Jake's call to Liza remained unanswered.
Kendall called Ryan from the hospital, interrupting his conversation with Opal. Ryan rushed to the hospital to be at her side.
Angie and Jesse met up at the loft. After Jesse filled Angie in about
David's attack on Adam, Jesse tried to set up a Web cam so that they could videochat with Frankie. Angie thought that could wait and seduced her hubby. Post-lovemaking, they chatted about how they missed Little A and Frankie and wondered how Randi was doing. Jesse told Angie that Scott Chandler was in town. They decided to have Scott and Randi over for dinner. Angie also had
David and Krystal, and Zach and Kendall, on the brain. Jesse made her laugh by noting that no one in Pine Valley stays married, "except black folk."
