All My Children Recaps
AMC Week of August 3, 2009
Monday
Tad and Taylor took care of Trevor at her place. Amanda came to see Trevor and got the word from Jake that David had bought her test results. Amanda knew that meant that the time was nigh for them to "adopt" Trevor. Taylor, clearly upset at the prospect of losing the baby, dashed out. Tad expressed his reservations about all the baby-related lies going on. Amanda urged Tad to go for it with Taylor.
David told Jake that he was sorry to hear that Amanda couldn't have more children. Ryan brought Ian in for a check-up. Jake put together that Zach and Kendall were going on the run with the boys.
At ConFusion, Krystal met up with Marissa, but Marissa had to head out to get to the courthouse. When Taylor arrived, Krystal approached her about Tad and Taylor could barely hide her discomfort. Krystal put Taylor at ease over a plate of french fries. David showed up and he and Krystal realized that Marissa was setting them up again. Krystal asked Taylor to be good to Tad. Tad arrived and made a comment to Taylor about getting back to the baby. "What baby?" piped up Krystal, who was nearby.
Jury selection began at Kendall's trial. Liza told Ryan that he couldn't be there and ordered Zach not to have any outbursts. Willis showed up with a court order for Emma to testify. Ryan asked Liza to find a way to stop Emma from having to testify.
Jesse met with Kendall at the police station. He tried to buoy her spirits, as she was convinced that she would be found guilty. Natalia asked her dad if she could go the courthouse with him; he assented. At the courthouse, Aidan told Zach that he wanted to help Kendall go free. Zach and Ryan then launched their plan to send Kendall on the run, with Ryan grabbing her from the courthouse restroom. To create a distraction, Zach decked Aidan. Natalia discovered that Kendall had fled and Jesse sealed the courthouse and put out
an APB. Jake brought the boys to the marina to meet up with Kendall. Kendall thanked Jake for his help. Ryan said a heartfelt goodbye to Spike after telling Kendall that Erica was also in on the plan and would be meeting her nearby. But Kendall had a change of heart about going through with the
escape. Despite Ryan and Zach's urging, Kendall insisted that she couldn't take their sons away from them.... Liza insisted to Jesse that she hadn't been in on Kendall's disappearance. Liza had a mini-meltdown once alone in the courtroom and ended up decking an arriving David.
Jake met up with Amanda and Trevor at Taylor's. She reiterated how thankful she is to him for having secured her son for her.
Tuesday
Jake and Amanda played with Trevor at Taylor's as they happily anticipated taking him home with them.
Liza accidentally decked David as she let out her anger over Kendall's escape.
Zach and Ryan urged Kendall to flee but she refused. Kendall was forced to leave when Jesse caught up to them but the police were everywhere. Jesse brought Ryan and Zach back to the station and Liza entered, having been summoned by Jesse.
Marissa, JR and Little Adam met up at the yacht club. Marissa told JR that Kendall had escaped. Marissa chastised JR for being convinced that Annie killed Stuart. They noticed the police (who were combing the grounds for Kendall) and Marissa went to investigate. Marissa watched as Shannon caught up to Kendall and placed her in handcuffs. Shannon brought Kendall back to the station, where Ryan, Zach, Liza and Jesse were waiting. During questioning, Kendall refused to implicate Ryan and Zach. Jesse agreed to let her speak to Zach. Kendall tearfully explained to Zach why she couldn't run (she couldn't take the boys from him, or leave him herself). Zach assured her that he would get her out of this mess... Shannon observed to Jesse that something wasn't adding up about the whole affair.... Kendall was taken back
to her cell, where Jesse allowed Ryan to visit her to deliver a pep talk. It didn't quite work; once alone in her cell, Kendall had a series of flashbacks that led her into a crying panic attack and, in front of Jesse and other witnesses, prompted her to confess to having killed Stuart... Back at the Slater house, Liza tried to quit Kendall's case but Zach refused to let her.
Adam assured Annie that she was home for good and apologized for having doubted her. Scott entered and Adam asked him to move in. When Adam excused himself, Scott got the sense that Annie was coming on to him; she denied it
and he apologized. After Scott left, Adam told Annie that he had a surprise waiting for her. Indeed he did: he proposed to her. She happily accepted.
At ConFusion, Tad and Taylor had to scramble to cover when Krystal overheard them talking about a baby. David entered and Taylor shoved a fry into Tad's mouth to shut him up. Jake came to fetch Tad and Taylor and David watched as
they left. JR and Marissa sat down at a table and Scott approached to blast JR for not giving Annie a chance. JR was hurt when Scott reported that Adam had asked him to move in.... David sidled up to Krystal. Krystal told David about Tad and Taylor having their own song (this was his cover story regarding the baby reference), and David became alerted at the mention of the word baby.... JR had an attack of some sort and collapsed at the warehouse.... Scott saw Annie and Adam celebrating their engagement.
Back at Taylor's, Tad, Taylor, Jake and Amanda discussed Tad's near-slip in front of David at ConFusion. Jake was especially upset with Tad. Jake and Amanda kissed the baby good night and left. Tad kissed Taylor again.
Wednesday
JR grew woozy and collapsed. Marissa found him. JR regained his senses and they chatted about JR's irritation with Scott.
Scott walked in on Annie and Adam celebrating their engagement. Annie left to get champagne and Scott congratulated his uncle. Adam expressed his support for the new mission statement Scott had drafted for the company. Marissa and JR arrived and Annie told them the "good" news. Adam asked JR for his blessing. "Best of luck," volunteered JR. Once alone with Marissa, though, JR blasted the notion of Annie becoming his stepmother.
A hysterical Kendall confessed to Stuart's murder. Ryan told Jesse to leave and tried to calm her down. Kendall described her visit from Stuart's ghost. Natalia got word that Kendall was cracking up in her cell. She listened as Ryan and Kendall continued to talk about her desire to confess.
At the Slater house, Zach begged Liza to remain as Kendall's counsel. Liza argued that temporary insanity wouldn't work as a plea and that no attorney in their right mind would defend Kendall. Eventually, Zach talked her into it by playing on her sympathies as a mom. Zach got a call from Jesse summoning him to the station because of Kendall's confession. Natalia confronted Jesse about the strange things she was observing, and called him out on calling Zach. Jesse told her to follow orders. Natalia made it clear that she is finding it hard to trust her dad. Jesse next met with Ryan to discuss their Kendall strategy, while Kendall embraced Zach when he visited her in her cell. After their heart-to-heart, Zach told Liza to go see Kendall and snapped at Ryan when he tried to give Zach advice on how to handle Kendall.... Liza and Jesse went to Kendall's cell and Kendall tearfully confessed to the murder. She expressed a desire to apologize to Scott and Marian and hoped aloud that Stuart will now be at peace.... Liza told Ryan what had happened in the cell. Ryan then observed Zach and Jesse deep in conversation.... Stuart's ghost told Kendall that he accepted her apology. Stuart's ghost indicated that he was bound for heaven.
Randi had a nightmare about North's death, the cover-up and her miscarriage. Frank tried to comfort her. Randi opened up about (some of) her guilty feelings. Later, Natalia came to tell Frank about what had happened with Jesse and Kendall and Randi tried not to have a visible reaction when Nat said that Jesse had been acting strangely ever since North died, and when Frankie scoffed at the idea that someone in their family could have committed a murder that he didn't know about. Once he was alone with Randi, Frank proposed that they try to have another baby and she said that she wasn't ready.
Thursday
Erica showed up at PVPD and broke into Kendall's admission of guilt. "You are not saying another word!" she exclaimed. Erica was furious that Kendall didn't run when she had the chance. "It's not too late," Erica implored. Kendall, however, wasn't hearing any of it. Kendall then informed Erica that she was taken off the witness list and she also asked her mother not to attend her sentencing. Erica left the room and vented to Ryan and Jesse. Erica was frustrated that Jesse couldn't help and determined to help her daughter, whether Kendall wanted her assistance or not.
At the country club, JR vented to Marissa about his father marrying the "town psycho." He was afraid that once Annie was finished with Adam, she'd kill him. He then asked Marissa what she wanted from him; Marissa stormed off without saying a word. JR broke the news to Colby that their dad was marrying Annie. "You have to stop them!" Colby blurted.
Zach went to see Adam and said he needed help with his wife. Adam was surprised the sentencing was so soon. Zach said he wanted Kendall to see her kids and not pay with her life. Scott and Annie came in and asked Adam to have sympathy for Kendall. Zach then went to visit Kendall. She asked him not to look at her during the sentencing, as she wanted to remember his eyes when they were full of love. The kissed passionately.
Angie told Frankie that she and his dad were having trust issues.
Ryan consoled Erica and tried to convince her to do what Kendall wants. Erica fretted about Kendall's predicament. She kvetched that Annie should be the one on trial. Ryan then gave Erica a warm, comforting hug.
In court, Zach told the room what a great mother Kendall was to their sons. He pleaded for leniency, then looked into Kendall's eyes. Scott and Adam also testified asking for mercy. Adam told the court that he was the intended victim and said that Stuart wouldn't want Kendall to die. Then, Marian burst into the courtroom. Marian gave a heartfelt speech about her beloved Stuart and asked where Kendall's mercy was when she took Stuart's life. "I hope you rot in hell," Marian spat.
At the Chandler mansion, Annie lounged on the sofa and summoned Lucretia for her thoughts on wedding dresses. When Lucretia was of no help, Annie ordered her to bring in coffee. Later, JR came to see Annie and she told him that no matter what, she was going to be he next Mrs. Adam Chandler. JR's response? "Pass the sugar." JR tried coming on to Annie, citing that his father was too old for her. He pulled Annie into a hot, wet kiss.
In the courthouse hall, Marian called Adam out for betraying his brother, and Liza apologized to Zach for her mother's remarks on the stand. Afterward, the proceedings reconvened. The judge asked Kendall to rise, as he'd reached a decision on her sentencing.
Friday
After the judge sentenced Kendall to life in prison, Liza assured her client that this isn't over. Jesse and Natalia approached Kendall as she was led away in handcuffs and Zach watched her silently go. The press hounded Adam and asked if he felt vindicated. "No winners," he stated. "My brother's dead, after all." Just as Liza was being hounded by the reporters, Marian stormed over and pulled a gun from her purse, which Liza saw just in time to cover Kendall. The bullet went off and the police quickly rushed Marian and pinned her to the wall. Zach ran to his wife, while Scott realized that Marissa had been hit. Marian was stunned when she saw that she'd shot the wrong person. Lucky for Marian, Marissa was still breathing. As Marian was led away by the police, she tearfully told Adam that she had to try.
JR challenged Annie with a kiss to see if she was really using Adam, but she pulled away and insisted that she loves his old man. When he called her a whore, she slapped him. Colby walked in and saw the news report about the shooting, then practically burst into tears. Annie tried to console her, but Colby snapped at her by asking how she thinks it feels to be trapped in a house with a crazy person.
Tad was intently watching a telenovela when Taylor slipped in with baby Trevor. She explained that she was having some baby trouble and needed his help. But when there was a knock at the door, she had to run and hide. It was Amanda looking for her baby. When she bent over to see Trevor, she was afraid he didn't recognize her anymore. Krystal walked in just in time to see the news interruption with the report of her daughter's shooting. "Marissa," she cried. Little Trev resurfaced once Krystal was gone, but just as Tad remarked that their secret was still safe, Kathy popped out and exclaimed, "A baby! Who is she?" Opal followed her in and explained that "she" is Taylor's "niece." Once they got Kathy out of the room, Opal looked at Amanda and correctly guessed that this baby is really hers and David's, then glared at Tad for getting himself involved. Amanda admitted that Trevor is her son, and Opal said she understood what Amanda's doing but they need to come up with a better plan.
Back in the courtroom, Kendall and Zach shared a tender moment in the wake of the chaos. After they hugged, she asked that he be gone when she opens her eyes. He quietly left the courtroom, and she was escorted back to her cell. Afterward, he dramatically watched the blood being mopped up outside and ran into Adam, who asked if Zach blames him for all this. Zach lamented everyone's losses and said he was all out of blame. Speechless, Adam glanced down at the bloody bucket.
As Marian was being evaluated, Liza thanked Natalia for grabbing the gun when she did. Marian's lawyer informed Liza that her mom would be transferred to the psych ward. Meanwhile, JR ran over to the hospital to check on Marissa, who was in surgery. Scott explained that Marian lost her marbles at the hearing. David came out and admitted that he couldn't operate on his own daughter. "I froze up," he confessed. JR assumed that David had just let her die, but he explained that Jake finished the operation. "I just froze," he later repeated to Krystal, who gave him a comforting embrace. Jake emerged from surgery to report that Marissa had pulled through and was in recovery, to everyone's relief. David asked Liza to leave, placing the blame on her for nearly costing his daughter her life.
Liza went to visit her mother, who was not doing well and even made mention of Stuart being alive. She clearly didn't remember what she did at the courthouse but she knew it was bad. After saying good-bye to Marian, Liza burst into tears. Adam returned home to find Annie and Colby arguing, and Colby remarked that it would have been nice to hear it from her dad that he's engaged. "I'm with Mom now," she declared. "There's no room for me with this in the house." Adam later opened up to Annie about the events of the day as she rubbed his shoulders. Annie remarked that now Kendall is put away, they can put it all behind them. Adam didn't seem comforted by that but when she urged him to think about their upcoming wedding, he was more at ease.
Zach returned home and asked the nanny to get lost, then told his boys that their mother would always be there. Liza dropped by but he insisted that she leave him alone, as well, then poured himself a drink and listened to a creaking noise coming from upstairs.
