Monday
Annie told Liza that she was fired as her attorney. Liza urged Annie not to "go paranoid."
Adam was happy when JR and Little Adam stopped by. JR reiterated to Adam that he had to choose in court between Annie and his family. Adam went to the hospital and was stunned to hear that Annie had fired Liza. Annie's chat with Annie left her all the more panicked that he might turn on her. Back at the house, JR and Colby talked about Annie and Adam's relationship after JR suggested to Little A that they might move home soon. JR made a comment about his health, then had to cover when Colby became concerned.
James pressed Randi to help him find Madison.... Frankie examined Madison's bruises. She stonewalled him about James's beatings and begged Frank not to contact her dad. She swore Frank to secrecy.
Erica told Jesse about Madison. He said that he would look into it. That wasn't quite good enough for Erica, who went to ConFusion and ran into James. Erica did her best to be civil.
Brot and Natalia brought the homeless man, Fred, to the hospital. Brot bragged about how he had gotten Fred to reveal that Madison is back in town. Angie overheard Brot's comment and Natalia confirmed to her that Madison was back. When Frank got to the police station to take Jesse to task for not having taken Madison's distress note seriously, Randi showed up and beseeched Frankie not to fall for Madison's stories. Jesse thought that Frank's concern was worth taking seriously. Randi left; Angie arrived. Frankie told his parents that they had to keep Madison's father away from her.... Natalia privately praised Brot's police performance.... Frank told his parents that he was going to stick by Madison. James showed up just then and insisted that he desperately needed to find Madison because she's in danger. Frankie assaulted him and Jesse had no choice but to arrest his son.... Randi paid a visit to Madison, telling her that she was there to help her. Erica went to the Miranda Center to see Madison but when she got to Madison's room, Madison was gone.
Liza informed Marissa that they were off Annie's case. Marissa encountered Adam and told him that JR was hoping to repair their relationship. Adam came home and Colby told him that she loves him ("We all love you") and he returned the sentiment. Adam sat in the darkened room and gazed at the tree. JR went to the courtroom and met up with Marissa. JR was stunned when he heard the news that Annie had fired Liza. JR was worried, noting that Annie is at her most dangerous when her back's against the wall.... Annie dreamed about her trial.... Stuart appeared to Adam and told him that he knew what to do in court the next day.
Tuesday
Liza told Zach that Annie was planning to serve as her own counsel. Zach feared what Annie might do if she believes that Adam is turning against her.
Ryan made it clear to Annie that he didn't want Emma testifying at her trial.
Jesse and Frankie squabbled over how to proceed with regards to Madison's abuse at the hands of her father. Jesse wanted Frank to leave matters to him. Meanwhile, at the Pine Cone, Randi claimed to Madison that she wanted to help keep her safe.
Angie told Erica about all that Madison had put her family through. Erica defended Madison, noting that many victims of abuse become abusers themselves. Angie could tell that Erica was sincere in her desire to stop James from hurting Madison the way her own father had hurt her. Natalia came to fetch Erica, who was due to testify at Annie's trial. Angie went back to the station and assured Frank that Madison was going to get the help she needs. Jesse summoned Brot to process Frankie's release.
At the courthouse, Adam assured Annie of his love, but watching him warmly greet Colby fed her paranoia. Ryan approached Zach and told them that they were going to get justice. Zach was rude to Erica when she showed up and stalked off. When Jesse and Angie arrived at the courthouse, Erica urged them to end the cycle of abuse. Randi went to the police station and met up with James, who had summoned her and again claimed to Randi that he wanted to help his daughter. Randi told him that she was at the Pine Cone. Madison was petrified when James showed up at the motel. Randi confessed to Angie and Jesse that she had revealed Madison's whereabouts to James. Brot and Frankie rushed to Madison's aid. James asked her to tell them that he hadn't hurt her. Madison claimed that she had lied and made up that her dad had hit her. "You see?" James beamed. He started to drag her away. Erica raced in and told James to take his filthy hands off Madison. She asked Madison point-blank if James was the one who had hurt her.
Willis made his opening argument, insisting that Annie is guilty of all charges covering up the murder of Stuart. Annie rose and addressed the jury. Zach then took the stand. Annie cross-examined him and called him out on his hatred for her. Annie cross-examined Ryan, who admitted that he would lie under oath to protect Emma. When Erica testified, she claimed that she would have turned Adam in for killing Stuart. After Annie questioned Colby, she requested a recess. JR told Liza and Marissa that he was confident that Adam would remain loyal to him. Adam told Annie that he would prove to her that he loves her if she puts him on the stand. Annie called herself to the stand and testified about her love for Adam. "All I've done is love a good, kind man," she swore. She then announced that she wouldn't be calling Adam to the stand. Adam stood up and insisted that he go on the stand. JR stood up and asked Adam what he was doing. But Adam was undeterred and told the court that he had known from the moment he shot Stuart that he was guilty of the crime. The courtroom exploded into chaos as Annie beamed up at her husband.
Zach got a call from Los Angeles.
Wednesday
Erica railed at James for abusing Madison and urged the girl to walk away from her abuser. Madison summoned her strength and incriminated her father. At the police station, Erica assured Madison that her father wouldn't hurt her anymore. Randi worried to Frank that James could spill the beans about their role in North's murder. Jesse told Erica, Frank and Randi that he wanted Madison to stay with him and Angie until the restraining order against her father goes into effect. Later, Jesse questioned Madison and she detailed her years of abuse at James's hands and how she had ended up killing North. Jesse updated Frank and Randi on what he had learned.
All hell broke loose in the courtroom when Adam lied about having known all along that he shot Stuart in order to exonerate Annie. JR blasted Adam for choosing Annie over his family. Adam defended himself. Liza complimented Adam for his brilliant, if illegal and dastardly, move. Adam took the stand and willfully perjured himself to clear his wife's name. Willis cross-examined him and Adam stuck to his (false) story. All charges against Annie were then dropped.
Zach got a call from L.A. but there was no one on the line. Opal barged in and tried to make Zach take her premonitions about Kendall seriously. Meanwhile, a bound and gagged Kendall looked hopefully at the phone, which she had used to call Zach despite her physical limitations. Zach ignored the call at first, then answered and challenged Kendall to talk to him. When there was silence on the other end, Zach told her not to call back and hung up. Next, Kendall somehow placed an anguished call to Ryan, but Aidan slammed down the phone and berated Kendall, who begged him to release her.... Ryan brought the odd call to Jesse's attention and asked him to trace the number.... Kendall told Aidan that she would never love him and he administered more drugs.
JR and Marissa went to ConFusion where he beat himself up for having tried to force Adam to choose him over Annie. Marissa consoled him. Colby came to tell them that Annie had gone free. Colby planned to stay in the house to keep an eye on Annie.
Ryan broke the news to Erica that the case against Annie had been dismissed. Ryan told Erica about the odd call from Kendall. Jesse went to the Slater house and told Zach that he was going to have the L.A.P.D. look into Kendall's whereabouts. Zach said not to bother..... Annie and Adam gloated to Ryan as they left the courtroom and Annie got under Ryan's skin regarding Emma. Liza and Ryan lamented that they had once loved Adam and Annie, respectively.... Scott chastised Adam for lying under oath and was reluctant to join in in their champagne toast. Adam asked Annie to marry him again.... Erica went to see Zach and begged him to think clearly with regards to his wife. Erica made Zach see that he was breaking his vow to Kendall by not giving her the benefit of the doubt.... Kendall's phone rang; it was Zach. As a groggy Kendall begged for help, Zach warned Aidan, "If you hurt her, I'll kill you."
Thursday
Pine Valley's citizens started receiving mysterious invitations to a party at the yacht club, purportedly a benefit for the hospital. Amanda and David were the first two arrive. Gayle called David with an update on his patient, saying that she was responding somewhat to the new medication.... Krystal told Tad that she had a date that night with Rob. When Liza showed up at Tad's, Krystal suggested that they all go to the party together. Krystal and Liza had a warm conversation in which Krystal consoled Liza over the loss of baby Stuart.... Marissa coaxed JR into attending the bash..... Jake and Angie got to the yacht club, followed by JR, Marissa, Adam and Annie, along with Tad, Krystal, Liza and Rob. David asked everyone to stay when realizing that David was their host made them think twice about attending. David publicly apologized for his wrongdoings (drugging Krystal and destroying her marriage; pushing Marissa aside for Trevor; taking advantage of Amanda, etc., etc.). When David began to apologize to Adam, everyone began to flood out but Amanda demanded that everyone stay and hear David out, insisting that he was being sincere. David announced that he had a gift for all of them: "I'm dying."
Zach went to L.A. and learned that Aidan had checked out. The hotel manager claimed that Aidan had been alone in the hotel. Zach paid the manager off to give him the real dirt and the guy revealed that a woman Zach realized was Kat had come to visit Aidan. Meanwhile, Aidan had transferred Kendall to an abandoned warehouse and warned her that no one would hear her if she screamed. Kat revealed her presence and Kendall was stunned to learn that Kat is alive. Kendall demanded answers but Aidan stonewalled her. Aidan gave Kat a gun and left. Kendall tried to appeal to Kat to help Aidan by helping her.... In the room where Aidan had been holding Kendall, Zach had visions of what may have happened there then frantically looked for clues as to Kendall's whereabouts.... Kendall explained to Kat how Aidan's bad history with women had prompted him to go off the deep end. Aidan eavesdropped on the tail end of Kendall's speech then told Kat that she could leave, adding, "You know what to do. Everything's been arranged." Aidan revealed to Kendall that he had heard everything she'd said and that he planned to make everyone suffer.
Erica told Ryan about her new concerns about Kendall. Ryan was floored when Erica admitted that she thinks Aidan might be holding Kendall against her will. Erica wondered if she should go to L.A. Ryan answered Erica's phone when Zach called and Zach and Ryan agreed that Erica should not go to the cops. Erica grabbed the phone and Zach made her promise not to contact the police. When Kat showed up at the hotel, Zach intercepted her and demanded to know where he could find his wife. Kat brought Zach to the warehouse, where Aidan promptly clocked Zach over the head with a gun.
Ryan and Erica went Christmas shopping for Emma to get their minds off things. They kissed after agreeing that they'd both gotten each other exactly what they wanted (each other).
Friday
Marissa ran out of the yacht club after David revealed that he's dying. Krystal blasted David for having informed their daughter of his condition in a public setting then rushed to comfort Marissa. JR wondered if David was making the whole thing up. Angie filled in a late-arriving Jesse about what he'd missed. Adam and Annie traded barbs with Jake, Amanda and David. Tad tried to keep Liza relaxed by leading her through some breathing exercises. David reconvened the group to make more announcements, starting with telling Jake and Amanda that he was reverting full custody of Trevor to them. He then promised not to go after Little Adam on the condition that Adam do the same. David then presented Angie with the password to his computer, which he described as holding the skeletons in the hospital's closets.... Krystal apologized to her date for having taken him to the party. Reluctantly, Krystal introduced Rob to an arriving David. He told her that he was leaving the bulk of his estate to her. "You've earned it," he said. She said that she didn't want it. "Keep it or not," he shrugged.
David gave Liza an envelope and told her to open it in the privacy of her own home. David went over to Tad, who said he didn't want anything from him. David told the group that he hoped to be able to prove to them that he sincerely wanted to repent for his sins. Jake and Tad agreed that something fishy was going on. Amanda told David she was proud of how he'd conducted himself. David informed Amanda that she could spend the holidays with Jake. She demurred but Jake jumped in and accepted the offer. Tad was floored when Angie admitted that she thought that perhaps David was telling the truth.... Jake and Amanda went home and got passionate but she remained distracted by thoughts of David, all alone on his last Christmas.... In front of Tad, Liza opened the gift she'd gotten from David: incriminating pictures of Willis, which would cost him his job. Tad pointed out that she'd be next in line as district attorney.
When Kat and Zach arrived at the warehouse, Aidan knocked Zach out and sent Kat away. When Zach came to, Aidan taunted him for having given up so easily on Kendall, revealing to him that the woman he thought he'd seen getting it on with Aidan was actually Kendall's lookalike. Zach demanded to know where Kendall was. Kendall, meanwhile, called out in the hopes of being rescued. Aidan pulled a gun on Zach. Zach tried to reason with him as Kendall tried to escape. Kat and Kendall came face-to-face. Zach was able to break free and grab the gun, which he trained on Aidan. Kendall and Kat rushed in; she ran into Zach's arms.
JR took Marissa home and tried to comfort her. David showed up and apologized to Marissa. David revealed to JR that he knows that JR has cancer. Marissa tried to deny it but David made it clear that he knew what was up.
