AMC Week of January 12, 2009
Monday
Pete put the moves on Colby, who shot him down. Pete admitted to Colby that he'd lied to her about Scarlet being his girlfriend, that Scarlet was a call girl he'd hired to make her jealous. Pete told Colby that he loves her. "You're like a brother," she responded, much to his dismay. Pete tried to make Colby reconsider. A teary-eyed Colby told Pete that they could only be friends. He told her he couldn't do that and asked her to leave, which she reluctantly did.
At the Martin house, Tad interrogated Krystal about David. She insisted that JR was out of his mind on alcohol and that David had simply been helping her through a tough time. When Krystal mentioned the pills, Tad thought David had raped her. She assured him that that wasn't the case and blurted out, "David understands me." She told Tad that nothing had happened between her and David until Tad had left town. Tad blasted Krystal for throwing away their life together. Krystal said that men like Adam and David make her feel alive. He forced her to say out loud that she slept with David. Tad was convinced that David was using Krystal to hurt him. He made Krystal go with him to Wildwind. Krystal asked David to back up her account. "Tad doesn't want words," David observed. "I want you to get what you deserve," Tad nodded. He called David out on using Krystal to get back at him and to win custody of Little Adam. Tad wanted to know what would happen to Krystal once his plan succeeded. When Tad used Babe's name, David lost his temper and pointed a gun at his rival. Tad called his bluff and David lowered the weapon. Tad said that David couldn't take Krystal from him; he was giving Krystal to David. He walked out alone. Krystal broke down in tears.
At the Slater house, Reese and Zach marveled over what a long day it had been. Reese tended to Gaby and worried aloud that Bianca had left town to get away from her (Reese). Zach looked at Kendall's photo, which he put down when the phone rang, alerting him to the fact that Bianca had been in a car accident. Reese and Zach raced to the hospital. They were both thrown when Bianca was icy to them, and Binks accused Reese of having stayed behind to be with Zach. "You set me up?" gasped Reese. Bianca confirmed that she had never intended to go to Connecticut. "What's wrong with you?" snapped Zach when Binks asked if Reese and Zach were in love. They insisted that Bianca's suspicions were ridiculous. Binks was unyielding, so Zach left to check on his wife and Reese pleaded with Bianca to believe in her. Reese told Bianca that she couldn't live her life under Binks's constant, mistrustful scrutiny. "I know what I saw," Bianca hissed. "No, you don't," retorted Reese. Bianca said she was tired and turned away, resisting Reese's expression of tenderness toward her. Reese left and told Zach that Bianca was hurt and angry. Binks, meanwhile, wept in her sickbed and reflected on what had led up to her testing Reese and Zach. She received a note from Reese, who said she was returning to Paris. Bianca panicked and dashed out of her hospital room.... Zach returned home to find Reese snuggling Gaby and weeping. Reese told Zach that she can't leave her children. Bianca entered and apologized for being such an idiot. "I love you, I trust you," she said. They forgave each other and kissed.
Amanda went to Wildwind, frantic with worry about JR. David made her sweat a bit, then assured her that JR was alive. Amanda went back to the yacht, where JR was soused on the couch. "I can't go home," he slurred. She told him he could stay with her for as long as he needed. JR told Amanda about tying David to the piano and about telling Tad that Krystal is sleeping with David. JR moaned that perhaps he should jump off the boat. She told him to
do it. "I am sick of you curled up with a bottle," she said. She thrust a bottle at him, which he poured out, swearing off booze once more. He told her that it helped to have someone who believed in him. They kissed tenderly.
Tuesday
At Wildwind, David had a bad reaction (which he tried to conceal from Krystal) to Krystal's insistence that Jenny live with them. David pretended to be thrilled with the idea, so Krystal went to go get her baby.
At the hospital, Frank and Angie chatted about David's awfulness before Angie excused herself. Frank then became enraged when he found some staffers gawking at the lewd online pics of Randi. Frank told the interns that he could have them fired for looking at that material on the job and when one of the interns back-talked him, Frank shoved him. David arrived and barked at Frank to unhand the man. Hayward disciplined the interns, then told Frank
that he was on warning. Frank returned home and told Randi what had happened at work with the interns. An argument ensued between the lovebirds and Randi raced out, upset.
Jesse was shocked to learn from Tad about Krystal's affair with David. Tad insisted that he wasn't going to allow Krystal to take Jenny. Krystal showed up and Tad served her with a restraining order, saying he'd have Jesse arrest her if she didn't leave the premises. Krystal begged him not to do this, but Tad wouldn't back down. Jenny started crying but Jesse stopped her from rushing her, warning Krystal that he didn't want to arrest her but would have to if she didn't leave. Krystal screamed for her daughter as Jesse ushered her out. Tad was unmoved by the display, which Jesse aptly described as harsh.
Dr. Sinclair reviewed the footage of Annie that she'd secretly taped. She arranged for a visit from "Mr. Stone" (really Aidan). Aidan, meanwhile, asked his contact for a favor, explaining that he needed to see Annie. The administrator wanted to know what Aidan wanted with Annie, but he remained tight-lipped. Aidan hid when Dr. Sinclair came by looking for Mr. Stone. Dr. Sinclair then went to see Annie, who was agitated and didn't understand why
she was in the hospital — or why the doctor had called her Emma. Lucid, she demanded to see her husband, Ryan. The doc said that Annie couldn't leave because she had hurt some people. Annie had a vision that led her to believe that she'd killed Ryan, which the doctor said was not the case. She asked to see Mr. Stone, but refused to tell Dr. Sinclair his real name. Burly attendants came in and restrained Annie, who was then medicated.
Ryan and Greenlee sent Emma off to school, then received a visit from Jack. He told them about Bianca's minor car accident. Jack delivered Ryan's divorce papers and also Greenlee's divorce documents. Aidan's signature was required, but Greenlee didn't know how to find him. Greens called Aidan, who took the call from his hiding spot at Oak Haven. She explained that she
needed him to sign the divorce papers quickly because she and Ryan were getting married. Aidan hung up. Jack excused himself and Greens beat herself up for having told Aidan over the phone. Greens was stunned when, shortly thereafter, Aidan showed up at the door, claiming he'd gotten back from D.C. the night before. He icily complimented Greenlee on her engagement ring. After some harsh words to Ryan about Annie, Aidan signed the papers. He then got a call from the administrator, warning him that he had to return at once because Sinclair was on the warpath.
A frantic Krystal went to the hospital and begged David to help her. Angie spied Krystal in David's arms and demanded to know what David had done to her. Krystal told Angie that it was Tad who'd done this to her. Angie recoiled from Krystal's description of what had happened back at the house and went to Tad's to confront him. Angie opined that Krystal is the victim, not the enemy. Angie urged Tad not to give up on Krystal but he was adamant that he wasn't going to lose Jenny to David. Back at Wildwind, David
promised Krystal that they would get Jenny back. He introduced Krystal to an attorney friend, who, it was clear, had orders from David that Krystal wasn't privy to. The attorney warned Krystal that getting custody of Jenny wouldn't be easy. Privately to David, the lawyer expressed his misgivings about misleading Krystal, but David snapped that that wasn't what he was paying the lawyer for. David then vowed to Krystal that they would win the case.
Randi went to the Valley Inn bar and ordered a shot of tequila. She was ogled by a male patron who asked her, "How much?" "A thousand for the night," she responded. He proceeded to whip out a badge and tell her that she was under arrest.
Aidan returned to Oak Haven and tried to sneak in to see Annie but was stopped by Dr. Sinclair, who suggested that he tell her his real name and why he's so interested in Annie.
Annie had a horrific nightmare about Ryan being stabbed — by Greenlee. She woke up with a start. "It was Greenlee!" she gasped. "Greenlee killed him!" With a maniacal look in her eye, Annie resolved to find Greenlee and kill her.
Wednesday
Josh sneaked back into town and skulked around the casino. He then went to the hospital to see his comatose sister, telling Kendall that he loved her and that he planned to make Zach pay for allowing "this" to happen.
Randi name-dropped Jesse Hubbard in order to get out of the soliciting charge. Jesse came and demanded answers from Randi. After hearing her out, Jesse got Randi out of the jam and urged her not to give up on Frank.
At ConFusion, Frank opened up to his sister, Natalia, about his upset regarding the pornographic Web site featuring Randi. Nat urged Frank to reassure Randi of his love. Nat was stressed about letting Jesse know that she is serious about joining the police force. The sibs bonded as they discussed Jesse's job in law enforcement. Jesse dropped by and took Frank aside to talk about Randi. He advised his son to go find his lady and pledge his support to her. Nat then broke the news to Jesse about her chosen career path. He told her to listen to her heart and was thrilled with her decision.
Frank caught up to Randi and swept her into his arms.
When Dr. Sinclair brought Aidan in to see Annie, she thought he was Ryan. Annie was relieved that Greenlee hadn't killed "Ryan." Aidan feigned a paranoid episode to get out of Annie's room. Sinclair put him isolation and indicated that she was going to speak to the administrator about him. The administrator came to see Aidan and demanded answers about Aidan's interest in Annie. Aidan said he needed to help Annie; that he owed her. Sinclair
went back to Annie's room and interrogated her about what she'd done when she had escaped from Oak Haven; Aidan listened in through the air conditioning duct. Annie remembered her confrontation at the penthouse with Greenlee and also remembered being at ConFusion in her wedding dress. Hysterical, Annie fretted that she was going to be killed. Once alone, Aidan and Annie began to converse through the vents. Aidan promised Annie that he
would get her out.
Ryan surprised Greenlee with a motorcycle of her own. They took a nap on the couch and Greens had a nightmare about Ryan dying on the motorcycle. She woke up and insisted that they get rid of the bike. Ryan assured her that he would dispose of the bike. He then welcomed Dr. Sinclair to the apartment. She said she was there because of Greenlee. The doc said that she wanted to get Annie competent enough to stand trial for her crimes, including Richie's
murder. The doc believed that Annie would most likely spend the rest of her life in prison.
Erica came home to find Opal in her suite. Erica explained that she had brunch plans with Reese. Reese, meanwhile, left the house with "good luck" wishes from Zach and Bianca. Zach told Bianca they needed to talk. He told Bianca that he loves Kendall with all his heart. Binks apologized for having questioned the nature of his involvement with Reese.... Over brunch, La Kane apologized to Reese for misconstruing her relationship with Zach and the
ladies made amends. When Binks barged in, the ladies let her know that they had mended fences. Reese excused herself to meet Zach and La Kane apologized to Binks for having caused problems for them. Bianca told her mom that she was proud of her. They got back down to the business of planning the bridal shower. Downstairs, Reese noticed that Zach was distant and called him out on it. He asked her if something had happened between them that he had missed. Reese said that they had a special connection but that she sees all his love for Kendall. Josh spied on them. Later, Zach and Erica encountered each other at the hospital and when La Kane spoke about having mended fences with Reese, Zach asked her what she was up to. At the casino, Josh approached Reese, pretending to be an aspiring architect. Reese left the security schematics for the casino unattended to fetch Bianca. Josh made himself scarce, having copied the schematics onto his PDA.
Thursday
At ConFusion, Adam told Tad it was his (Tad's) fault that Krystal had fallen prey to David. Livia excused herself while Adam proposed to Tad that they team up to keep David away from Little Adam. A drunken JR showed up, offering to testify against Krystal. Adam and Tad were both disgusted by JR's condition.
At the hospital, Krystal fretted to David about the possibility of losing custody of Jenny. David assured her that he wouldn't let that happen. At the courthouse, Krystal encountered Opal, who said she had to testify against Krystal so long as she was entangled with David. Distressed by the confrontation, Krystal popped some more pills.
At Oak Haven, Aidan communicated with Annie via the air conditioning duct. Aidan implored Annie to keep her mouth shut about her desire to hurt Greenlee in front of Dr. Sinclair, lest the doc never release her from Oak Haven. Aidan explained that Annie blamed Greens for the dissolution of her marriage to Ryan. "Keep your memories a secret," Aidan advised. When Dr. Sinclair entered, Annie claimed that she'd been talking to herself and that
she felt a lot better. Sinclair grilled Annie about what had happened at Ryan's penthouse the day she escaped, but Annie claimed not to remember. She had a series of flashbacks about her troubled history with Greens but didn't reveal her memories to Sinclair.
Ryan and Greenlee had Reese and Bianca over to discuss wedding venues. Ryan and Greens had found the perfect spot in Connecticut, where Reese and Bianca's marriage would be legal. After they left, Ryan told Greenlee that he had packed up Annie's belongings. Greens left "for work"; Emma arrived and Ryan tried to hide from her that he was getting rid of her mom's stuff.
Zach didn't believe Erica's claim that she was genuinely trying to get along with Reese. La Kane tried to assure Zach that she knows how devoted he is to Kendall. David strolled up with news for Zach about Kendall. David explained that Kendall's condition had taken a turn for worse ‹ she had mere days to live. Zach vowed to find his wife a heart, even if he had to kill somebody. Zach concealed David's update from Erica.
Armed with a gun, Josh pored over the security schematics for the casino. He skulked around the casino and when Zach arrived (after having no luck getting Joe to get a heart to be transplanted into Kendall) he made himself scarce. Zach saw Jake at the casino bar and asked him how to get Kendall moved to the top of the transplant list. Jake said that he couldn't offer assistance.
David joined up with Krystal at the courthouse. He chastised her for taking too many pills. He reassured her that he was not using her to get to Little A. Tad, Little Adam and Livia arrived and Tad shot a snarky comment David's way.
Instead of going to work, Greenlee went to Oak Haven to see Annie. Dr. Sinclair brought her in and with difficulty, Annie told Greenlee that she was sorry and that she forgave her. Greens didn't buy it, which she made clear to Sinclair. Greens warned the doctor not to believe a word out of Annie's mouth. In her room, Annie asked Aidan through the vents why he was helping her. He said he understood her and that they needed to get better, together. Greens returned home to find Ryan and Emma napping on the couch. She left in a hurry.
Erica joined Bianca and Reese at ConFusion. La Kane told him about her encounter with Zach at the hospital. Binks was worried that Zach may have gotten bad news about Kendall. Bianca, Reese and Erica accosted Zach, demanding answers about Kendall's prognosis. He was about to tell them the truth when the alarm went off and a masked Josh ordered everyone to lie down, firing his gun. Zach went after Josh, who pointed the gun directly at him.
Jake ran into Amanda at ConFusion, where she ordered a club soda because she wasn't feeling well. Amanda became nauseous and ran off.
Tad took the stand and testified about how he learned of Krystal's
infidelity. He said that Krystal was too unstable to be a good parent to Jenny. Adam testified against Krystal, as well. JR had a drunken outburst against David and nearly got thrown out. Opal took the stand and said that Krystal was addicted to pills given to her by David. She also referred to Krystal as a "two-timing junkie." Krystal testified and tried to explain her pull to David in her time of grief. David tried to come to her aid and Krystal ended up spilling her pills all over the floor.
Friday
At ConFusion, Amanda moaned to Jake about her queasy stomach. Jake suspected that she was pregnant. He disqualified himself as a possible babydaddy. Amanda rushed out.... Jesse and Angie sat down for a meal and chatted about Tad and Krystal's predicament. Angie beat herself up for not having intervened more seriously when she caught David and Krystal smooching. She vented about David's monstrosity and expressed her desire for Jesse to get a
search warrant so that she could prove that David is a criminal; Jesse tried to change the subject. Jesse got a call about the casino and left. Jake joined Angie and they talked about trying to prove that the pills David is feeding Krystal may not be FDA-approved. In lieu of a search warrant, they decided to break into Wildwind. Jake picked the lock and got him and Angie inside the manor. Jake found a record of the $5 million check that David had made out to Amanda. Angie pocketed some pills, which she brought back to the hospital.
Krystal's pills spilled all over the floor while she was testifying at her custody hearing. She apologized to the judge and rambled on about Babe's death and its effect on her. She broke down crying and yelled at JR, reminding him that she'd raised the woman who changed his life. The judge decided to award sole custody to Tad. Krystal's pleas for her to reconsider fell on deaf ears, though the judge did grant limited and supervised visitation to Krystal. Tad stood up and told the judge that Krystal was a great mom. He told Krystal that she could come and see Jenny right now, so long as she came along. David stayed behind and exchanged icy words with Adam.... Krystal was overjoyed to be reunited with Jenny back at the Martin house.
A masked Josh trained his gun on Josh, then bolted. Security followed him while Zach, Erica and Reese tended to an unconscious Bianca. She came to and Reese said she recognized the gunman from earlier, when he'd approached her pretending to be an architect. Reese described his ring, which Erica had a reaction to. Zach's team returned with the news that the man had helped himself to $10 million. Jesse arrived on the scene and Erica demanded that she be allowed to leave. Reese and Bianca insisted that they accompany her. Zach told Jesse that he thinks he's seen the shooter before.... In Erica's room, La Kane told Reese and Bianca that she thinks the ring Reese described was the one that she gave to Josh. Josh then revealed himself and blasted Erica for "giving away the surprise." Clearly unstable, Josh blamed Zach for
ruining his life and Kendall's and he accused Erica of having thrown him away. Bianca tried to intervene and Josh ordered her to get out of his way. Erica agreed to help Josh escape, though Bianca begged him to reconsider. After leaving her suite, Erica tried to slip past Zach and Jesse, who blocked her from leaving the casino. Josh emerged with a hostage: Reese. "Welcome home," said Zach sarcastically. Jesse tried to talk Josh down and not to leave with Reese as a hostage. "Let's work this out," Zach proposed. That further angered Josh. All efforts to get Josh to release Reese failed,
including Erica invoking Kendall's name. By the end of the episode, Zach and Josh were facing each other, both with guns drawn.
Amanda bought a pregnancy test and brought it back to the yacht. She hid the kit when JR showed up unexpectedly in search of a drink. JR filled Amanda in on Krystal's performance on the stand. Amanda vowed to help JR get his life back on track. He was about to kiss her when she became queasy and rushed out of the room. Amanda returned and chalked up her condition the flu shot she'd gotten earlier. She let JR crash on her bed then went to the bathroom and prayed for her test to turn out negative. Unbeknownst to her, Jake arrived and JR reluctantly let him in.
At the hospital, David learned that Kendall's organs were beginning to fail. He asked someone to contact Zach. "I need to tell him his wife is dying."
