AMC Week of June 1, 2009
Monday
Jesse informed Zach that he had arrested Kendall. Zach was angry and suggested that Jesse go to Germany to see his son.
Krystal handed her wedding ring to David and stormed out of Wildwind. As Tad and Opal played games at the Martin house, Krystal showed up and announced that she'd left David. Opal wasn't happy to see her but Tad welcomed her with open arms. Tad invited Krystal to stay with him. Jake returned home and heard about Krystal's new living arrangement. Jake was wary.
Erica denied to Adam that she had feelings for him. She noted that she could see that he was trying to live up to his brother's good name. They hugged as Colby entered. La Kane agreed to wait while Adam and Colby spoke. Colby confronted her father about the sperm switch. Adam tried to defend himself. Liza was upset when she entered and realized what they were discussing. Colby told Adam that she could forgive him but was upset that Liza had never told her. Liza explained that she hadn't wanted to hurt Colby. Adam and Liza traded compliments over how they had reared their beloved daughter. Erica returned and Liza excused herself. Colby agreed to have lunch with Liza sometime. Erica showed Liza out and snapped that she didn't buy Liza's contrition.
Amanda tried to throw David out of her hospital room. David reflected on why he had become such a ruthless person. She begged him to promise not to take her baby and said they could work something out if he did. Amanda returned home to the Martin house and was concerned by Krystal's presence. Jake assured Amanda that her baby would end up in good hands but privately fretted about their options.... Tad urged Krystal to wish upon her own star.
Kendall celebrated when Jack told her that he had arranged for her to be released on bail. Kendall went to see Zach and asked him point-blank if he killed Stuart. They realized that they are both innocent as Zach relayed how he had seen Stuart fall to the floor and put his fingerprints on her weapon, which she had dropped. She marveled at all he had done to protect her. They agreed to work together to clear their names.
Tuesday
Colby and Scott discussed Kendall being out on bail and Zach's release from prison. Scott blamed himself for Stuart's demise.
Marissa went to Wildwind and David informed her that Krystal had left him. A drunken David ranted about how Adam was supposed to die, not Stuart.
Liza greeted Erica at the yacht club and they exchanged barbs. Jack arrived to have breakfast with Liza. As Erica watched from across the restaurant, Liza apologized to Jack for incriminating Kendall. After Liza left, Erica told Jack that Liza killed Stuart. Jack told Erica to stay out of the investigation in order to help Kendall; she pointed out that he knew her better than that.
Zach told Jesse that he wanted to recant his confession. Jesse summoned D.A. North. Zach told North that Kendall isn't capable of murder and didn't kill Stuart even though he doesn't know who did.
Kendall went to see Ian. Ryan joined her there. She reassured him that he wasn't at fault for her arrest but when she expressed concern for Zach, he called her out on it. Kendall explained her concern that Zach had fathered Liza's baby. Ryan recommended that she ask Zach point-blank. When Erica entered, she was dismayed by Kendall's report that Zach was sleeping with Liza. Jack went to see Ryan, who cautioned him that Kendall could go to jail for the crime if they didn't figure out who really killed Stuart.
Erica conned her way into Liza's suite. Colby caught her red-handed as she snooped around.
At the Martin house, Krystal played with Jenny. Marissa called to alert her to David's sorry state. Krystal told Marissa that she couldn't go to Wildwind but she relented and came. There, she blasted David for putting Marissa through the scene he had created. He blamed Adam for his losses of
Babe, Little Adam and her, but Krystal said that David had lost her all by himself. David flipped when he deduced that she was living at Tad's and grabbed her violently. She stood her ground and insisted that she wasn't going back to him.
Colby went to the yacht club for a meal with Pete. They discussed their parents' relationships. Colby told Pete about how Jake was supposed to have been her dad but Adam switched the sperm samples. Colby resisted Pete's romantic advances but took his sound advice about giving Liza a chance.
Marissa stopped by the Chandler manse and informed Scott that she had reason to believe that David may have killed his father. Scott raced to the mansion and walked in on David and Krystal's confrontation. He decked David, who had just told Krystal that she was the reason Stuart was dead.
Liza went to the hospital looking for Jake. Zach approached her and expressed his obvious anger over her having incriminated Kendall. He marched into Ian's room, where Kendall was standing vigil over their boy. Kendall was happy to see him. Zach assured Ian that he would never leave him again and vowed to Kendall that she would not go to jail.... Liza told Ryan that Liza did not father her baby.... Ryan told Kendall that in order to prevent Zach from testifying against her, they (Zach and Kendall) should wed.
Wednesday
Colby caught Erica snooping in Liza's room. Erica admitted that she was looking for a way to discredit Liza, whom she believes to have killed Stuart. Colby was stunned to come across a packet of letters from Liza to her, which had been unopened. She pocketed them, brought them home and read them. She learned that Adam had kept the letters from her. Pete joined her and Colby marveled at how Liza really did care about her, after all. She felt terrible about how she'd treated Liza because of Adam's manipulations. Pete noticed that there was blood on one of the envelopes. Thinking it could be Stuart's, Pete raced off to test the blood.
Ryan made the case to Zach and Kendall that they should marry to prevent Zach from having to testify against her. They agreed and Ryan said he was okay with it. Ryan assured Zach that he believes he, too, is innocent. Erica went to the hospital and got the news about the wedding from Ryan and rushed to see Kendall, subtly questioning Kendall's true commitment to Ryan. The justice of the peace arrived and, with a nurse standing by as a witness, Zach and Kendall exchanged quickie vows. Zach supplied the rings. Despite
herself, Kendall got emotional. Post-nups, Zach found Kendall crying as she remembered her wedding to Zach on the boat and her efforts to wed Ryan the day he ended up marrying Greenlee. She told Zach that she was thinking about Ryan.
Ryan went home to collect Emma from baby-sitter Opal. Opal showed Ryan a drawing that Emma had done of a woman firing a gun. Ryan gently questioned her about it but Emma told her that Annie had told her not to tell. Ryan went to see Annie at the police station. He showed Annie the drawing of her holding a gun at the Chandler mansion. "Who were you pointing a gun at?" he demanded to know. "Okay," said Annie. "I'll tell you."
Jake gave Liza documents to help her support her pregnancy ruse and to help protect her from David. Jake showed Liza an ultrasound picture of Colby, which they were passing off as the baby she's "carrying." Amanda entered and cooed over the image. After Liza left, Amanda chirped to Jake that she likes Liza. Jake told her that in a few weeks, he was taking her to Barbados to have the baby by C-section. He added that he had a doctor who would fudge the death certificate for David's benefit and that the baby would safely go to adoptive parents. Amanda was stressed out about the plan; Jake kissed her to take her mind off of it.
Liza came to see Colby. She was happy to know that Colby had finally received her letters. Colby apologized for her role in their rift. An emotional Liza told Colby that she had never stopped loving her. They embraced. Then Colby realized that Liza had come to the house the night of the murders to get the letters. Pete called to report that Stuart's blood was on the letters. She confronted Liza and accused her of shooting Stuart. Erica entered and told Liza to get away from Colby.
Scott clocked David and accused him of killing Stuart. Krystal said that she thought Scott might be right. David summoned the cops. Jesse asked if they had any evidence. Krystal said that nobody had wanted David dead more than David. David offered his hands up for handcuffing. "She needs to believe I killed Stuart so that she can go running back to her ex-husband," claimed David, who denied killing Stuart. He tried to throw everyone out but Scott protected that David is guilty. Jesse dragged Scott out and asked him to let
Jesse do the justice-seeking. Back inside Wildwind, David admitted to Krystal that he had every intention of blowing Adam's brains out on that fateful night. He said that he had changed his mind because of Little A and Marissa and his unborn baby, in particular.
Thursday
At the yacht club, Amanda and Jake met Marissa, who realized that Amanda was carrying her half-sibling. Jake told Marissa that he wasn't going to let David get his hands on Amanda's baby. Jake apologized for speaking ill of David; she forgave him.
At Wildwind, David told Krystal that he couldn't kill Adam because of his children, specifically Amanda's baby. After Krystal enumerated the reasons that she couldn't stay with David, Tad came by to pick her up. After they left, David threw a glass in anger. Tad and Krystal went to the yacht club, where Krystal told Marissa that David will be back on his feet soon. Krystal confirmed to Marissa that David intends to get his hands on Amanda's baby. Krystal warned Marissa against getting sucked into David's orbit. Marissa
denied that she wanted to be her father's savior. Tad told Krystal that all he wanted to do was dance; she let him take her into his arms. They left in good spirits.
Erica interrupted Colby and Liza's argument in the Chandler manse. Colby told Erica to leave, defending Liza to La Kane. Once alone with Liza, Colby demanded to know the truth about Liza's actions on the night that Stuart died. Liza explained that she had only wanted to scare Adam that night to make him admit that he had poisoned Colby against her. She said she found the letters while looking for the gun with which she planned to spook Adam. Pete arrived and Liza left. Pete told Stuart that the blood on the envelope is definitely Stuart's. Colby insisted to Pete that her mom is innocent. She refused to turn her in to the police.
In Ian's room, Zach told a weepy Kendall that their marriage was the right thing for the boys. "That's all that matters," she said. He told her that she should go see Ryan. Angie came by and confirmed to Zach that it would be okay for Kendall to leave. On her way out, Kendall had to remind a pressuring Erica that she only married Zach for the sake of the boys. Erica had a bad reaction when Kendall said that she was en route to Ryan's. Erica told her daughter that she knows for a fact that Zach still loves Kendall. Kendall insisted that she loves Ryan, not Zach.
Ryan demanded to know what Emma saw the night of the murder. Annie told Ryan that she wanted to talk to Emma; when he said that he would let her call Emma after coming clean, she started spilling the details of the night of the murder. She explained how she had come to Adam's aid. Annie expressed confidence that Adam's story would match hers. Ryan went to see Adam to verify her claims. Adam declared that he would stake his own life on Annie's innocence. When Ryan returned home, he found Kendall there. Kendall told Ryan that she loved him; he said it sounded like a question, which she denied. He told her that he loves her, too.... Ryan listened on another extension as Emma and Annie chatted on the phone. Annie told Emma how much she loves and misses her.
At Wildwind, an increasingly despondent David stared at a picture of Babe. A vision of Babe appeared to him. Babe told David that she was disappointed in his recent behavior. Marissa showed up and gave David some aspirin and indicated her desire to understand her father better. He said that he didn't even understand himself. Marissa said that she understood his fear of being alone. Babe's spirit materialized briefly in the room. David felt closer to Marissa.
At the hospital, Liza told Zach that she never would have slept with him if she'd known that he was Kendall's ex but that she still wanted to rip his clothes off. Zach informed Liza of his remarriage. In the hallway, she encountered Kendall and apologized to her for implicating her to the police. Kendall remained icy. Liza went to the yacht club and Erica accosted her again, indicating that she doesn't think that Liza has a chance of winning back Colby's love.... Kendall returned to Ian's room; Zach was surprised to see her. He watched as Kendall doted on Ian.
Friday
At the loft, Jesse tried to talk Angie out of going to Germany, but she was determined. Brot came on the Web cam to tell them that Frank's surgery was over but he had no news about Frank's hands. In Germany, the doctor informed Randi that Frank's hands would never recover to the point where he could perform surgery. Randi roused Frank awake and he asked her to go. The Hubbards heard via the camera as Frank lashed out at his wife, crying that his life was over.... Brot talked to some other vets in Frank's unit.... Jesse asked Angie not to go for the sake of Frank's marriage. Randi got on the Web cam and told her in-laws that Frank is despondent. Brot tried to get through to Frank. Randi asked them to come to Germany but Angie said she no longer thought it was a good idea. Angie urged Randi to knock down the walls that Frank is putting up. Post-chat, Angie wept to Jesse about Frank's situation and Randi did the same to Brot.
Adam phoned Liza at the yacht club looking for Colby. Liza said that she didn't know where Colby was. Adam hung up and was surprised when Zach barged in. Adam told Zach to go ahead and kill him. Zach asked Adam for his help in clearing Kendall's name. Liza entered and Adam asked if she and Zach were lovers. Liza sidestepped the question. Liza told Adam that while she wanted him dead, she had only come to the mansion that night for Colby. Liza confronted Adam about the letters he hid from Colby. Adam denied having pocketed the letters that night. Liza said that she saw Stuart's body and had fled through the tunnels. Adam recalled taking off the jacket, which Stuart must have put on, and then seeing Annie in the attic. He told Zach about David drugging him.
In jail, Annie was stabbed by the woman in the adjacent cell.
At the hospital, Jake accused David of shooting Stuart. Ryan and Kendall tried to soothe Kendall's nerves before her arraignment. She pleaded not guilty, then noticed David standing in the back of the courtroom. He slipped out. Ryan and Kendall went to see Ian and discussed whether David was guilty. Jack joined them to start planning Kendall's defense, as the trial was slated to begin in six weeks. Jack questioned Kendall again about the night of the murder and she recalled tripping over a person. Jack called forensics to do another sweep of the Chandler grounds.
Ryan updated Jake on Kendall's courtroom appearance. Jake told Ryan that David is his main suspect and that David had drugged Adam. Ryan saw David and asked why he'd been at the arraignment. David said that he felt bad for Kendall. Ryan called him out about drugging David, which he denied.... Jake went to tend to an arriving Annie, who asked to see Adam and Ryan. Ryan left David to see Annie. Annie, who had been examined by Jake and David, told Ryan that she remembers seeing David standing over her on the night of the murder. Adam entered and ordered Ryan to stop grilling Annie.
David went to see Kendall in Ian's room. Kendall asked David where he had been when the gunshot rang out the night Stuart died. Zach entered and made it clear that he thinks David is guilty.
