All My Children Recaps

Monday

News of Zach's demise began to spread across town.

Jack tried to reason with Liza, who pooh-poohed his claim that Ryan and Greenlee had evidence to exonerate her but it had been destroyed. Liza was hit hard by news of Zach's death. Tad offered her consolation. Greenlee thanked her dad for believing in her. When Bianca entered the courtroom, Jack and Greens broke the bad news about Zach.

Ryan and Erica went to the Slater house to inform Kendall that Zach was dead. With great difficulty, they told her about the plane exploding. Kendall refused to accept the truth, insisting that he could still be out there alive somewhere. Ryan explained that the Coast Guard had designated the mission one of recovery, not rescue. Kendall left a message for her husband, convinced he would return her call. She told Ryan and Erica to show themselves out and ran upstairs to check on the boys. Erica broke down sobbing in Ryan's arms. Bianca showed up and ran into Erica's arms. Ryan left to return to the courthouse. When Kendall saw Bianca, the truth hit her and she began screaming. Her sister and mother embraced her. Kendall calmed down and apologized to Erica for her earlier behavior. She went upstairs to rest but collapsed crying alone on the stairs, dialing Zach's voicemail repeatedly to hear his voice. Erica and Bianca exchanged memories about Zach.

Jake, Tad and Amanda showed up at the courthouse. Greenlee told Jake that she isn't okay. Krystal and Jake filed into the room. Ryan told Greens that Kendall's in denial. Court was called to order and the jury said that it had reached a verdict. Greenlee was found guilty. "We'll fight it," Jack told Greens. Jack had an outburst toward Liza. The judge called a recess in advance of her handing down Greenlee's sentence. Liza thought about Zach while Krystal tried to buoy Jack's spirits. Ryan promised Greens that he would take care of Kendall for the both of them. The judge returned and announced that Greenlee was sentenced to life in prison. Greenlee was put in handcuffs but before she was led away, David entered — very much alive.

Tuesday

After Greenlee was sentenced to life in prison, David entered the courtroom. "I'm back," said David to Greens, "for you." Ryan told David to stay away from Greenlee. The judge demanded answers. David said that he was prepared to tell her everything. David took the stand and said that he was sorry about everything that had happened to her and to Zach. David copped to having tried to set up Ryan to take the fall for his faux demise. "I would rather lose my own freedom than watch you lose yours," David told an incensed Greens. Ryan and Jesse and Jack had outbursts against David. David explained how he had faked his death with the aid of an herb that slowed down his heart rate to an undetectable level.

At home, Kendall wept over Zach. Bianca tried to comfort her sister. Bianca got word about David and relayed the news to Kendall.

Krystal rushed out of the courtroom to tell Marissa that her father is alive. A furious Marissa was hell-bent on going to see him immediately. She burst into the courtroom and smacked David, who was still on the stand, across the face. She read David the riot act for forcing her to have mourned another father. David admitted that he had attended his own funeral and that he had watched her with AJ. She told David that he was dead to her and stalked out, trailed by Krystal. "Enjoying yourselves?" David smirked at the mourners. He told them that he had seen all of them toasting his demise, decrying them all as hypocrites. Ryan snapped that he should have killed David when he had the chance. Flashbacks showed what had happened in the confrontation between Ryan and David at the hotel room that Ryan had subsequently blocked out, in which David decked Ryan with a book, then dosed Ryan with a drug to erase his memory. David testified to having heard Greens in the morgue, saying good-bye to him, and that he had paid off the coroner. Greens spat that if it hadn't been for his sick plan, she and Ryan would never have gotten back together. "You created your own nightmare," she said. David insisted that he had only wanted Lavery to suffer, not her. David described his reaction to learning that it had been Greens who was arrested and how Nick Pearson had not properly done his bidding. Ryan jumped up and blasted David for fancying himself the hero of the whole situation. Kendall and Bianca entered the courtroom. "You," hissed Kendall, who made it clear that she blamed David for Zach's demise. The judge nullified the verdict and told Greens that she was free to go. Jesse arrested David for, among other things, conspiracy and tampering with evidence. Krystal congratulated Jack on his victory.

Wednesday

Kendall was icy towards Greenlee when Greens came over to comfort her. A weepy Kendall didn't know how she was going to tell the boys the news. Greens urged Kendall to blame her for Zach's demise. Kendall had a bad reaction to the news that Greens and Ryan had reconciled.

As Ryan browbeat David, Jack told Liza that she needed to prosecute David to the full extent of the law. David's ride to jail arrived but before he was hauled away, he told Marissa that he had been following her battle for custody of AJ and could help her win. She denounced him. David was taken to the police station and booked.

Jack, Bianca and Ryan went to the Slater house. Kendall told them all that she wanted to be alone and said that every time she looked at Ryan and Greens, she would be reminded of her own loss. Everyone reluctantly left. Opal called to let Kendall know that the boys were at Krystal's and that Erica had gone to take care of some Zach-related things. Kendall told Opal to bring the children home. The doorbell rang; it was Griffin, who said he was there to see Zach. Kendall told Griffin that Zach was dead. He expressed his condolences. She told him that she didn't want the support he was offering.

At Krystal's, Krystal praised Marissa for the strength she showed in the courtroom. She then trailed Jack to the police station to make sure he was doing okay. He told Krystal that he wouldn't rest until he made sure that David could never hurt Greenlee again.

Ryan and Greens went to ConFusion and discussed Zach's death and Kendall's grief. They then went to the police station to make a statement about David. David goaded the couple by telling Greens that he had been moved by what Greens said at his gravesite. Greens realized that David still thought he could win her back. After telling David off, she left with Ryan. Liza stalked in to see David to go over his charges. "All I'm guilty of is loving my wife," said David. Liza marveled that he really believed that sending Ryan to prison would have been the serving of justice. Jack called Ryan and told him to keep a close eye on Greens while he did the same with David.

Opal brought the boys home. Kendall wanted to keep things as normal as possible for the children until after Spike's pageant. Spike woke up from his nap and asked for Daddy Zach. Kendall stalled and held her son close.
