AMC week of October 15, 2007
Monday
Kendall revealed her true feelings in her thoughts as she met with Greenlee, who was thrilled to see Spike. Greens promised Kendall had nothing to fear from her. Kendall freaked out when Greenlee signed to Spike, but later apologized, saying she didn't want Spike to be confused since he hadn't learned any sign language yet. Greenlee wondered if Kendall was alright, and when Kendall pulled away from her touch, Greenlee thought she still hated her. Both women were in tears as Kendall explained herself. She said it was nice that the three of them were spending time together. Spike got fussy, and Kendall said it was time to go. Greenlee thanked her for letting her see Spike, and left. After she was gone, Kendall apologized to Spike and told him he wouldn't have to see that bad lady much longer.
Ryan's gun went off, and Annie was shot. Ryan panicked when Annie muttered her last words and "died" in his arms. Richie tried to leave to get help, but Ryan stopped him, training his gun on him. Ryan told Richie it was his fault, and he was going down for his sister's murder. Richie ran out the door when Ryan looked down at his cell.
Josh showed up at Hannah's door, and asked again why she was back in town.
Hannah said he wouldn't believe her if she told him. They kissed, but Josh was a tease and quickly left. Moments later there was a knock at the door. Adam burst in, saying they needed to talk. She told him to leave, and got in the shower. When she came back out, Adam was still there. He demanded she find out why Zach and JR were working together. When Adam still refused to leave, despite her need to get to a meeting, she dropped her towel and changed in front of him. Adam warned her that if she tested him he could and would ruin her life. She was being paid well to do a job and she needed to get it done. Hannah said he, too, had to show a little respect, or she might tell Zach why she's really in town.
JR surprised Amanda, and tried to get her into bed. He whipped a pair of diamond earrings out of his pocket. Amanda immediately asked who he'd slept with. JR told her she was paranoid. She wondered where he got the money to buy the earrings since he hadn't completed Zach's plans yet. The conversation turned to Ava, and JR expressed his annoyance at Ava's engagement to Jonathan. Amanda accused him of sleeping with Ava. JR laughed it off, saying he had no interest in sleeping with Ava. Amanda caved and went to bed with him. After they'd had sex, JR fell asleep, but Amanda stayed up, calling him a bastard — "It was Ava."
At The Comeback, Babe was looking at a picture of Richie when Tad walked up and asked how she was holding up. Tad told her she shouldn't beat herself up, because Richie had everyone fooled. Babe admitted she was still uncertain how to feel about him. Tad asked her to stay away, at least until they knew more about him. She thanked him and walked outside, where she ran into Richie, who said he needed help. Tad came outside just in time for Richie to tell them that Ryan shot Annie.
Josh visited Ian's room where he found Zach. He reported that he thought Hannah was still hiding something, and Zach told him to keep a close watch on her. Zach told Josh about his plans with JR, and asked him to take part. Josh thought about the guilt he felt for not protecting Kendall from his father, and agreed to help protect Kendall from Greenlee.
At the Yacht Club, Annie and Ryan toasted, but Annie feared a rebuttal from Richie.
Tuesday
Aidan called Greenlee and they flirted over the phone. He asked her to join him in Chicago, but Greens insisted she had to stay there for Kendall. Aidan worried that Kendall wasn't being sincere. He quickly got off the phone when the couple he was waiting for walked up. Nearby Annie and Ryan had breakfast, and Annie told Ryan she didn't want to spend the rest of her life going back and forth with Richie.
Kendall spoke on the phone with Erica, who was still in Paris. After saying goodbye, she asked Joe to check Spike out because he'd been up with a fever all night. Joe told her he would, and said he'd been planning on calling her to let her know there was an opening for a Cochlear implant surgery. Kendall was taken aback, but quickly covered. Zach met JR in the park and gave him "proof" that Greenlee's embryos existed. JR wondered what would stop him from telling everyone the truth about what Zach was doing. Zach let him know that wouldn't be an option. Kendall called and told Zach he needed to come to the hospital immediately. Before Zach left, JR asked again if they embryos really existed, and again, Zach didn't answer.
Richie came to The Comeback and told Babe he was looking for Krystal, hoping he could get his job back. He apologized for involving her in the mess with Ryan and Annie. Babe suggested he leave Pine Valley. Richie said he wasn't that easy to get rid of, and insisted he wasn't the monster — Annie was. Babe made it clear he didn't have a chance with her anymore, but Richie wasn't ready to give up, and begged for another chance. Babe told him she liked Wes, not him, and Wes was gone, so she didn't want him to contact her again. He conceded, but gave her a Mickey Mantle baseball card to give to Little A.
Aidan posed as a reporter, and asked the couple what they knew about Richie Novak. They had wonderful things to say about him; they reported he was very good to them when their son Jay died. They explained that Jay died while on a camping trip with Richie. They also mentioned that one of the other boys actually blamed Richie for Jay's death, but he didn't come forward right away and he wasn't credible. They told him they were so grateful to Richie that they gave him Jay's Mickey Mantle baseball card. They also showed him a baseball all the kids had signed for Jay. After looking at it and zeroing in on a particular signature, Aidan thanked them for their help and excused himself. He called Ryan and told him that Richie had drowned the boy, and there might be a witness.
Zach, Ryan and Annie arrived at the hospital, and Joe explained the procedure to them. Everyone agreed to the surgery, and Kendall went with Joe to do some pre-surgery tests. Annie and Ryan told Zach what'd they'd done to Richie, and he was impressed. Kendall came back in, and expressed her concerns about the surgery. Ryan reassured her it was the right thing to do. Joe walked back out and told them Spike might not be able to have the surgery.
JR arrived at the Yacht Club and asked Greenlee to join him at a table. She obliged, and he explained that he'd been digging into Zach's business, but before he could explain what he'd found, Zach called and interrupted, letting JR know that Spike's surgery was in two weeks, and he wanted Greenlee taken care of before then. JR hung up and asked Greenlee if she was sure her eggs had been destroyed. He showed her the "proof" that they still existed.
Wednesday
Greenlee was infuriated to find that Zach took her eggs. JR got a call from Ava, which Greenlee quickly ended, wanting to talk about her eggs. She also wanted to know what he wanted in return. He said they would talk about that later, and then stopped her when she decided to run off and confront Zach.
He pointed out that if Zach got wind of this, he would bury all the evidence. He also suggested that Kendall probably didn't know about any of it. He told Greenlee to stay quiet while he followed up on it. She agreed and he left, but once alone, Greenlee declared there was no way she was sitting back and waiting.
At the hospital, Joe explained that Spike had fluid in his inner ear, which was preventing them from doing the surgery. He also said it might be a permanent condition. Joe said they would treat him, and if the fluid cleared up, they could go forward with the surgery. But if the fluid remained, Cochlear implants would no longer be an option. Ryan and Annie left to fill the prescription. Kendall was devastated, and berated herself for waiting to do the surgery. She began to blame Greenlee, and declared she would stop her. Zach wondered how. Kendall blew it off, saying she just fantasized about revenge, she wasn't actually planning anything. Zach warned her not to, and said Greenlee would get what was coming to her. Kendall said he didn't need to worry, and left.
Annie consoled Ryan as they sat with Spike. Annie promised him there were ways to communicate with Spike: sign language and lip reading. When the medicine was ready, they give it to Spike, and Ryan began to teach him how to say "daddy" in sign language. They were thrilled when Spike made the sign and said "da-da."
Babe brought the focus group — Colby and Corrina — to the Fusion office. Shortly after, Ava walked in looking ridiculous, saying that she would wear her outfit for the shoot. When everyone was annoyed, Ava suggested they fire her. Babe said she was on to her, and insisted she do the interview. Ava did so, but continued to make a joke of Fusion. Amanda suggested they move on to the photo shoot, but Ava had other ideas: exposing her new Mohawk. Babe and Amanda told her they weren't letting her out of the contract, and they could make her do nothing until her contract was up. The photographer wanted to continue the shoot, and Babe and Amanda were forced to back down. JR walked in during the shoot, and Amanda informed him that his plan hadn't worked.
Hannah found Josh sitting at Zach's desk. She realized he still didn't trust her, but moved on to business, asking what the deal was with Chandler Enterprises. Hannah asked how JR was involved; he'd been seen around town with Zach. Josh denied that they were working together, and took a call. To herself, Hannah muttered, "Like hell he's not." Greenlee ran in, interrupting them and saying she needed to talk to Josh. Once Hannah left, Greenlee told him what she'd discovered. Josh told her he didn't know anything about it, and suggested she not pursue it. She apologized for barging in and left. In the hall, she called JR and told him she wanted to meet him to get more information. Hannah overheard. Kendall called Greenlee and said she needed to see her right away.
Aidan spoke on the phone with someone trying to find the witness' address.
Then he called Greenlee, who didn't answer. Greenlee showed up at Kendall's old condo, and found Kendall in the dark, with Spike's car seat surrounded by candles.
Thursday
Babe showed Tad the baseball card Richie gave her, and Tad was thoroughly impressed until he realized it came from Richie. Ryan called Annie to check in on Spike. Tad sat down with him, and they talked about Spike's situation.
Ryan wondered how Tad handled Kate being missing. Tad suggested he focus on something he can do something about, specifically Richie. Colby, Sean and Co. walked in, and Colby informed them that Corrina could be Fusion's next model. Things got awkward when Ava's name came up. When the girls walked away, Ren asked Sean if he really slept with Ava, and was impressed when he confirmed it. Later, the kids fooled around, and Tad chatted with Colby.
Babe showed up at Richie's hotel room. Richie told her he'd been kicked out of the hotel, but was still staying in Pine Valley. Babe gave him back his baseball card, and wondered why he was staying in town. Richie got a call for a job interview, and asked her to wait while he changed in the bathroom.
When he came back out Babe was gone.
Adam showed up at Krystal's door and she tried hard not to answer. She fantasized that she let him in and he apologized for everything he'd done to her and Jenny, and said he loved her, and had never stopped. In the dream, he declared he wanted her back, and wondered if she could ever love him again. Krystal said she knew she could. As they kissed she snapped back to reality and let Adam in, dressed as Stuart. "Stuart" suggested Krystal spend time with Adam, but Krystal said that wasn't good for her. She wondered how Adam would look at Jenny if she and Adam worked things out. "Stuart" said Adam would see Jenny only for who she is, not where she came from. Krystal seemed hopeful when "Stuart" said Jenny would steal Adam's heart. Babe walked in and interrupted the conversation, and "Stuart" quickly departed. Babe told her about Richie and the job offer and Krystal suddenly ran out, saying she smelled a rat.
Greenlee asked Kendall what was going on. Kendall explained that Spike might not be able to get the cochlear implants, and told Greenlee she needed her to recount the night of the accident. Greenlee told her this wouldn't make her feel any better and tried to leave, but Kendall stopped her. Both women cried as Greenlee began walking her through the accident. Kendall wanted to know what the last words Spike heard were, and became hysterical when Greenlee told her she had told Spike she was taking him home to his mother. Kendall told her they couldn't start over, but Greenlee suggested they could bond over a brother or sister for Spike. Kendall was incredulous.
Aidan called Greenlee again and still didn't get an answer. He thought Kendall was behind it. Next he called Ryan, updated him on his work, and asked if he'd seen Greenlee. Ryan told him he hadn't. On his next call, he told the person on the other end that it was exactly what he needed.
Krystal burst into the Chandler mansion, and told Adam she knew he was behind it. Meanwhile, Richie showed up for his interview and found Ryan was the man who requested it.
Friday
Kendall freaked out, wondering what Greenlee meant with her sibling comment.
Kendall said their kids could never be friends or siblings, because they would never share the suffering Kendall's kids had gone through. Greenlee got up to leave and Kendall stopped her, saying she needed more time to get past her anger. Greenlee said she couldn't keep taking Kendall's attacks, and pointed out that Kendall's husband destroyed her eggs, so Kendall wasn't the only mother that had suffered. In the end, they agreed to keep working on their friendship. Kendall told her she hoped someday Greenlee could have her own children, and that someday their kids could have the relationship Greenlee talked about.
Richie complimented Ryan on faking Annie's shooting. Ryan told Richie he had a choice — either he could come work for Ryan, or Ryan would pay him to leave. The third option remained unspoken when Ryan pulled a gun out. Richie tried to turn down the job, but Ryan accused him of being scared, which promptly led Richie to accept. After saying he couldn't wait to start, Richie left. In the hall, he called Babe and left her a message saying he got the job, and was off to find a good way to celebrate.
Annie was home with Spike and Emma when Zach stopped by to drop off Spike's blankie. Annie put the kids to bed and when she returned, Zach gave her a book he thought she'd like about choosing your own family. Annie thanked him. He reminded her that they were a family, and they would all support her. Annie told him she worried that Richie would try to get back at them for the stunt she and Ryan pulled. After pledging his support, Zach left to visit Ian. Later, Emma came out and told Annie her stomach hurt. She had chocolate all over her face, and told Annie that Uncle Richie had given her a brownie, but made her promise not to tell. Annie rushed her out to the elevator, telling her they were going to the hospital. However, the elevator stopped unexpectedly and they were trapped.
Jonathan worked with a party planner to set up his and Ava's engagement/Ava's birthday party. Ava arrived with a ridiculous hat on. JR and Amanda followed, wanting to see Jon's reaction to her new hairdo. Ava asked for some time alone with Jon, and once the party planner departed, she revealed her Mohawk. Jon said she was beautiful no matter what hairstyle she had, but wondered why she pulled stunts like that. He told her to think of him when she had urges to do things like that to remind her that she was loved for being herself. They moved on to talking about the party. At another table, Amanda was not surprised by Jon's lack of reaction, and JR continued to express his fascination with Ava, which clearly annoyed Amanda. Again she accused him of wanting Ava, which he again denied. Amanda suggested they go elsewhere for dinner and stop talking about Ava, but JR couldn't take his eyes off a kissing Ava and Jon. Amanda got up to leave. JR jumped up and agreed to leave with her, but not before he took one last, long look at Ava.
Adam told Krystal he didn't know what she was talking about, and Krystal accused him of setting up Richie's job interview. Adam said he had nothing to do with it, and accused her of being there because she couldn't stay away from him. Krystal found this humorous, and Adam continued to deny any involvement in Richie's interview. He suggested they stop dwelling on the past and try to move forward. They continued to snipe at each other. When Krystal turned to leave, Adam reached out to stop her and ended up untying her wrap top and exposing her bra. Adam quickly apologized, and she struggled to pull away from him. Before long they were kissing and tearing each other's clothes off.
Greenlee went to the hospital to look into cryogenics and fertility, and ran into Zach. Meanwhile, Aidan caught Kendall in Greenlee's apartment.
