AMC Week of October 19, 2009
Monday
Marissa brought groceries over to JR's. She tried to stop him from seeing a newspaper story indicating that he had fallen off the wagon but he insisted on seeing the paper. Scott went to ConFusion to drown his sorrows in booze; JR and Marissa went there and tried to drag him home. Scott's drunken comments about Adam piqued JR's suspicion. JR told Marissa about Scott's curious comments. "I think he knows who killed Stuart," said JR.
Emma opened her eyes to Annie in her hospital room. Annie reiterated to Emma how important it is that she keep quiet about what she saw the night of the murder. Frank and Ryan came in and Annie claimed that Emma had miraculously woken up. Ryan was relieved but demanded to know what Annie was up to. Zach badgered Annie as well. Ryan implored Emma to come clean with him. She asked to see her mommy, so Ryan went to fetch her. "This ends now," seethed Zach.
Amanda knocked David unconscious to give Aidan and Kendall the chance to flee. Jake nudged him awake and when David claimed to have seen Aidan and Kendall, they didn't deny it.... Jesse updated Zach on Kendall's getaway. Zach told Jesse to let Kendall escape. Jesse was floored. David called to tell Jesse about seeing Kendall at the stable, then demanded that Amanda tell him what really happened at the stable. She copped to hitting him. Jake went to the hospital and observed as Annie, Ryan and Zach bickered in the hallway. Frank told the trio that Emma was responding well. Ryan went in to see his daughter while Zach taunted Annie in the hallway about her inability to control what Emma told Ryan.
Brot approached Natalia at the police station. She was jittery and sleep-deprived. She beat herself up for shooting Aidan. Nat met with the department psychologist, who recommended that she be benched for at least a week. Natalia was upset with Jesse for not overruling the doc. She went to ConFusion; Brot followed. Nat began to open up to him and Brot gave her savvy advice about dealing with her emotions about the shooting. After their chat, Natalia decided to stay on desk duty — even after Jesse offered to pull a few strings for her.
Jesse went to Wildwind. David surprised Amanda by covering for Kendall and Aidan. Jesse privately complimented Amanda for decking David.... David dreamed about making love to Amanda... Amanda and Jake had a passionate encounter in the stables.
Tuesday
Annie learned that Emma was about to be discharged. She rushed to Emma's room, where Jake was assuring Ryan that Emma's memory would soon return. Annie sneaked a call in the hopes of getting her visitation privileges to Emma extended, but she came up empty. Annie approached David and asked him to give a second opinion about Emma. David told Ryan that he wouldn't sign off on Emma's discharge. Jake tried to get Emma to open up to him. Emma told Jake that it's hard on her when her parents fight over her. Ryan hissed to Annie that Emma would eventually tell him everything. David examined Emma and told Annie and Ryan that he agreed with Jake's decision to release her from the hospital, much to Annie's chagrin.
Erica went to see Adam. He told La Kane that Stuart wouldn't have wanted him to get revenge on Stuart's killer. Zach entered and told Adam to admit that he was about to marry the woman who murdered his brother. Adam insisted that he and Annie are genuinely in love.... Scott woke up at JR's with a terrible hangover. He denied to Scott and Marissa that he knew who killed Stuart then headed home in time to overhear Adam proclaiming his love for Annie. Zach goaded Adam before leaving. Scott approached him and made a cryptic comment about the threat secrets pose. Zach stressed to Scott that he was going to find his wife and clear her name. Erica urged Adam to "get his head out of his posterior" before he weds Annie.... Zach went to the hospital to talk to Ryan about Emma, telling him that they were running out of time.... Annie sneaked into her daughter's room as an arriving Erica caught up to Ryan. Ryan and Erica went into Emma's room and she told Ryan that she no longer wanted to go home, she wanted to go "to the big house with Mommy."
Kendall and Aidan sought refuge in a church. She was concerned about his health in the wake of his gunshot wound and ascertained that he was running a fever. She told him to get some rest while she kept a look-out. "Thanks," he said weakly. Back at home, Zach thought about Kendall as he sat alone in the living room.... In the church, Kendall fantasized that Zach was there with her.
Scott and Adam discussed Emma having shot Stuart. Jesse entered and asked to know what they were talking about.
JR was bummed after his latest doctor's appointment and Marissa tried to bolster his spirits. JR told Marissa that she took his pain away and they made love. He then stunned Marissa with a marriage proposal.
Wednesday
Angie came by the police station looking for Jesse. She found Natalia instead and tried to buoy the rookie cop's spirits. Nat answered Jesse's phone; it was a reporter seeking a comment from Jesse about "the news." Angie and Natalia reeled from the reporter's announcement that Madison had died.... Randi had a nightmare about Madison; Frank tried to console her.
Jesse went to the Chandler mansion and overheard Scott and Adam discussing how Emma shot Stuart. Adam and Scott had to cover. Jesse left when he got the call about Madison's demise. Adam told Scott that they had to maintain the illusion that they believe Kendall is guilty, which didn't sit well with Scott.
Ryan grabbed Annie for a private chat after Emma told him that she wanted to move back into the mansion. Erica stayed with Emma while Ryan and Annie bickered in the hallway. Ryan figured out a way to best Annie, bringing her back into Emma's room and inviting Annie to move back into the penthouse with Ryan and Emma. Annie balked but Emma pleaded with her to say yes. Annie went back to the mansion and vented to Scott and Adam about how Ryan had manipulated the situation. Scott advised her to call Ryan's bluff and move back to the penthouse.... Ryan and Erica brought Emma home and tried to explain to her why Annie hadn't wanted to move in. "Is it because you love Erica now?" chirped the little girl. Ryan changed the subject. Emma went upstairs and Erica praised Ryan for his clever handling of the Annie situation.... Scott felt that Annie should move into the penthouse and made the case to Adam and Annie. Adam agreed that Annie should move into the penthouse until the wedding. Ryan and Erica were floored when Annie showed up at the penthouse and announce that she was moving in. Annie made a comment about her upcoming wedding, which Emma overheard. When Annie said that she was marrying Adam, Emma had a bad reaction, proclaiming that she hates Annie and running upstairs.
JR proposed to Marissa.... Krystal approached Tad about JR, convinced that something was wrong with him. Tad assured Krystal that JR wasn't drinking again. Tad carved pumpkins with Kathy and Little A as Krystal broached the subject of where their relationship might be headed. Tad was evasive. JR and Marissa then came to the Martin house and announced their engagement. JR asked Tad to perform the ceremony as Krystal tried to conceal her shock. Krystal admitted to Tad that it bothered her that JR planned to marry Babe's sister a mere year after Babe's death. Tad observed as JR informed Little Adam of the imminent nuptials. Krystal expressed her reservations to Marissa, who told Krystal that she didn't want to hear it. But Krystal quickly came around and Tad performed the marriage ceremony for a thrilled JR and Marissa. After exchanging vows, JR and Marissa went to the Chandler mansion and informed Scott of their marriage. Marissa insisted that they tell Adam.
The entire Hubbard clan converged to process Madison's death. Jesse urged Frank not to feel guilty and to move on with his life. Angie and Jesse were hopeful that the entire family could move on. "This family has been taking hits from all directions," sighed Jesse, who hoped that the worst was behind them. Madison's father showed up and said he had some questions for them. He pulled out the DVDs that implicate the Hubbards in North's death and its cover-up. Beardsley demanded answers.
Thursday
Madison's father confronted Jesse with the DVDs Madison had been hoarding. James admitted to the Hubbards that Madison had confessed to him that she had killed Henry and he apologized to them for his daughter's blackmail. After James left, Angie led the group in a prayer circle and the family agreed never to discuss Henry or Madison ever again. Angie praised Jesse for pulling their family back together. Randi told Frank that she was going to refocus on her work at Fusion. Frank remained distracted but resolved to move on from the whole ordeal. Jesse went to the yacht club with Natalia, who was having a hard time believing that everything was truly behind them. She didn't buy Jesse's theory that being on her deathbed had made Madison grow a conscience... Frank and Randi decided to watch the surveillance DVDs. They discovered that they had been doctored to erase Madison's presence. Frank thought about telling Jesse about the editing, but Randi just wanted the DVDs gone, so Frank threw them in the trash and set them on fire.... Angie returned Natalia's cell phone to her and said that the hospital in New York had called to confirm Madison's death.... Randi had a nightmare about the tapes surfacing and about Madison returning.
Emma ran upstairs when Annie told her that she was marrying Adam. Ryan suggested that she go back to the mansion; Erica seconded the idea and took offense when Annie accused her of wanting Emma out of the picture. Ryan went upstairs to talk to Emma and encouraged her to come clean with him about the secret she was hiding from him. "I'm ready to tell," said Emma as Annie walked in. Emma told her parents to leave and locked herself inside alone. Erica, Ryan and Annie had it out downstairs as Ryan insisted that Annie would never take Emma from him. After Annie left, Ryan lamented to Erica that his chance to get the truth out of Emma had been blown.
JR and Marissa informed Adam of their marriage. JR became defensive when Adam brought up Babe. Scott ushered Marissa out. Adam demanded that JR annul his new union. JR told Adam that Adam's opinion no longer mattered to him and insisted that he has remained sober.
At the yacht club, David faced the press about Kendall's escape as Zach looked on. Liza was also there, dining with Bailey and Stuart. Zach threatened David. Liza advised Zach not to goad David. Zach sighed to Liza that he hadn't heard from Kendall since her escape. "No contact with Kendall," urged Liza, fearing that the cops would not be far behind. Zach got a call from Erica, who updated him on Emma's tantrum. Liza introduced David to Bailey. David excused himself to dine with JR and Marissa, who told David that they had just eloped. David reacted badly. Marissa stood up to her father.... Liza asked Bailey if she had made any decisions about pursuing custody of Stuart. She was still unsure.... Marissa and JR went to his latest chemo session.... David warned Liza that she was making a huge mistake by letting Bailey spend time with Stuart.
Ryan was upset with Erica for telling Zach about Emma. Erica became upset and left as Zach arrived. Ryan told Zach that they had a problem. Ryan realized that it was time to put the heat on Adam. He suggested that they drug Adam to try to get his lost memories of that night to return.
Annie returned home and updated Adam on how badly things had gone with Emma. As Scott eavesdropped, Adam was struck with another flash of memory about the night of Stuart's death. Meanwhile, alone in her room, Emma had a flashback to the night of the murder. She recalled seeing who killed Stuart: It was Adam.
Friday
Aidan was grateful to Kendall for tending to his wound. After he fell asleep, Kendall composed a letter to Zach. Aidan woke up and snatched it out of her hands, barking, "Are you insane?" He reminded her that any contact with Zach could lead the authorities straight to them. She begged Aidan to let her let Zach know that she's okay. Aidan ran out and returned with a laptop, which she could use to contact Zach.
Adam vowed to Annie that he would keep Emma safe.... Ryan met Erica at the yacht club and asked for her help. He told her about the idea that he and Zach had cooked up. Erica agreed to help distract Annie, and when Annie and Adam walked in, Erica pretended that a wedding dress designer wanted to design a gown for Annie. The plan worked like a charm — or seemed to, until Erica left and Annie told Adam that Erica's behavior had clearly been an act. "The question," frowned Annie, "is why." She and Adam agreed that for now, she should play along with the ruse.
At the hospital, Zach dragged David away from Amanda and Trevor to ask Zach to help him bring Adam down. Seething from the news that JR had married Marissa, David was amenable. Ryan came to the hospital and he and Zach briefed each other on how things were going. Ryan, Zach and Erica met up at the penthouse and discussed how to distract Annie. Emma came downstairs and asked if her mommy was coming over. Annie phoned and told Erica that she would meet with the designer (who had offered to make a donation to Feed The Children if he clothed Annie for her wedding) in exchange for Erica agreeing not to disrupt the ceremony. Erica agreed and Annie said she was on her way to meet the clothier, who had a fashion shoot going on just outside of town. "She's on her way," Erica reported to Ryan and Zach. "So am I," said Zach, who dashed out. Erica admitted to Ryan that she was a little jealous of the lengths to which Ryan would go to protect Emma.... Annie sneaked into Emma's room, unseen by Erica or Ryan. "You know why I won't go back there," Emma told Annie when Annie started talking about what a good man Adam is. Emma threatened Annie, telling her that if Annie made her go back to the house, she would tell everyone the truth: Adam killed his brother.
Jake wanted to leave the hospital with Amanda but she begged off, noting that David had asked to talk to her. Jake was upset, especially when Amanda defended David. Adam went to the hospital to be examined by Jake and when Jake handed off a prescription to be filled, David followed and switched the medications. When Adam popped one of the pills, David grinned, then phoned Amanda to say that he was on his way to the yacht club. She was annoyed with him for being late. He said he was willing to discuss joint custody with her. In return, he wanted a little brother or sister for Trevor. Amanda was floored.
When Adam returned home, Zach was there. Zach tried to get Adam to admit that Annie killed Stuart. The drugs started to affect Adam....
