Today's episode was a repeat. Happy Labor Day!
Tuesday
At the party, Caleb announced that he was changing his name to Caleb Cortlandt in accordance with Palmer's wishes. Just then, David stumbled into the room and collapsed. Krystal called an ambulance as Kendall held Greenlee back. Meanwhile, a disoriented Ryan stood outside of David's room with blood on his hands. Jesse explained to a blind Angie what was going on. Jake was unable to revive David. "He's gone," he told a crying Greenlee. Colby confirmed to Asher that David was the person she'd seen fighting with David. She fretted that she didn't want to get Ryan in trouble. Jesse told the partygoers that none of them could leave because the club was now a crime scene. Jesse commanded his troops to man the exits and put Natalia to work. Greens was worried about Ryan's whereabouts. Iris told Liza that if foul play was involved, she expected her to find the culprit and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. The mayor waved away Liza's concerns about conflict of interest. Jake told Jesse that David had been in a fight but that wasn't necessarily the cause of death. Jesse confirmed to Jake that Angie was in the midst of her longest bout of eyesight loss yet. Greens was grateful to Amanda for her support then excused herself to sit by David's body. She whispered to him that she hadn't wanted this to happen. The EMTs arrived to take David's body and Jake peeled her away from the scene. Colby and Asher told Damon about the fight. Asher urged Colby to keep her mouth shut; Damon was dubious that that was the best course of action. Caleb protected a shaken Krystal from Natalia's interrogation; they left. Jesse questioned Greenlee about when she had last seen David. Liza then stunned Jesse with the news that she was the new D.A. Liza warned Jesse that Angie is at the top of the list of suspects. Jesse reached his breaking point and loudly snapped, "She's blind!" Liza was stunned.
At Krystal's, Marissa checked her voicemail and listened to a message from David. Caleb took Krystal to the restaurant and she asked him to stay as she broke the bad news to Marissa. With a heavy heart, Krystal informed Marissa of her father's demise. Marissa melted down as she realized that she'd erased the last message she'd ever get from David.
Kendall dashed out and found Ryan, who couldn't remember what had happened to him. Upon seeing how trashed David's room was, Kendall told Ryan that they had to leave immediately. Ryan freaked out when he saw the condition of the room. Kendall concealed from Ryan that David had died but convinced him to leave with her. Moments later, the cops arrived and found David's room in disarray. Kendall took Ryan back to his place and tended to his wounds. Kendall called Greens to summon her to the penthouse; when she heard about Ryan's condition, she agreed to leave immediately. After a series of flashbacks about her marriage, Greens exited by claiming to be following her husband's body to the hospital. When she got to the penthouse, Greenlee told Ryan and Kendall that David had died. Ryan was flabbergasted at the the news, and at the possibility that he may have been responsible.
Wednesday
Jake prepared for the autopsy on David. Amanda showed up and Jake consoled her. The coroner entered and when he took over the body, Jake and Amanda sat down to discuss their feelings.
Tad ragged on Liza for coming down so hard on Jesse. Jesse apologized to Angie for revealing her blindness. JR told Colby to come clean with the police about witnessing the Ryan/David fight; Asher urged her to keep quiet. JR and Tad discussed Liza's new job. Jesse asked Tad to drive Angie home. Liza, Jesse and Natalia continued the investigation in David's room, where tensions ran high between Jesse and Liza. Nat convinced Jesse to go home. Asher tried to slip out; JR noticed his aversion to cops and called him out on it. Asher made up a story about cops telling him when his dad was killed, which JR bought. Colby was questioned by Natalia. Damon took Colby to Krystal's, where she felt bad about having lied to the police. Asher met up with them there and heard Damon and Colby trash-talking him. He made a hasty retreat.
Ryan, Greenlee and Kendall convened at the penthouse and tried to piece together what had happened before David's death. A shaken Greenlee reminded Ryan that she had phoned to tell him to stop working against David. Ryan begged the women to leave, concerned about how it might look if they were discovered together. Ryan assured Greenlee that everything would be fine as Kendall ushered her out. Kendall took Greens back to Wildwind, where Bianca relayed her condolences. Once alone, Greens broke down in sobs. She told Kendall that she had to leave and rushed out.
On their honeymoon, Scott stopped Annie from turning on the TV. Emma entered and said that she'd seen a scary news report about something that had happened back home. Emma phoned Ryan; after they chatted, Annie got on the phone but Ryan didn't tell her about David. Annie was suspicious and called JR, who told her about David's murder. Annie shared the news with Scott. Annie thought that Ryan might be involved and pointed out to Scott that Marissa needed him. Annie lied to Scott that she'd heard the news from "someone from the office." When Ryan hung up with Annie, Greenlee rang his doorbell. He comforted her. Greens thought that she should go to the police and tell them everything. Ryan thought that her telling the cops about the blackmail "would just make everything worse." Ryan told Greens that he was summoning his doctor to make sure that he was okay and suggested that she be examined as well, but she told him she had to go. Ryan went to the police station and left a message for Madison apologizing to her for having bailed on her. He then told Madison, "I think I'm the guy you're looking for." Greens went to Fusion and wept some more.
Back at the loft, Angie and Tad discussed her condition. Tad kept her company until Jesse returned home. They were hopeful that her sight would return.... Tad went to the hospital and told Jake and Amanda about the Jesse/Liza showdown. Meanwhile, over tea at Wildwind, Kendall told Bianca that she hoped David's killer was never found.
Liza went to her office and looked at the "evidence" against Greenlee that David had given to her. She then went to monologue to David's corpse about how ugly she thought the investigation was going to get. Still, she vowed to do her job, for him and for her. "Rest in peace, David," she said. "If you can."
Thursday
Colby went to see Liza in her office. Liza coaxed her into telling her about the fight she had seen between Ryan and David. Colby was upset when Liza received the news as D.A., not as her mom. Asher surprised Colby in her room and told her more about his upbringing. Colby let Asher know that she'd told Liza what happened between Ryan and David.
At the police station, Jake recommended that Ryan go to the hospital for further examination. Jake asked Natalia to postpone questioning Ryan, a person of interest in the Hayward case, but Ryan said he was fine. He asked to see Liza. Madison went to see Ryan and he filled her in on his concern that he had killed David.
Kendall saw a news report saying that a suspect had been apprehended in David's death. She briefly talked to Natalia on the phone about Ryan, but hung up when Ian came in, asking for his daddy.
Greenlee went to the coroner's office and asked to see David. She told his body that she had gone the night before to the road where her accident had occurred. The coroner gently told Greens that he had to begin the autopsy. She went into the hall and got a call from Kendall, who told her to hurry home.
Frankie, Angie and Jesse met with her eye doctor, who informed her that she is now legally blind. Angie assured her family that she was fine as they pledged their support. Jake arrived and got the news about Angie's blindness. She told him that she wouldn't jeopardize his job by having him reveal to the board that he knew about her condition. Angie insisted on going to see David's body, but it was gone by the time she and Frankie got there. Back at home, Frankie helped Angie adjust to things. Jake and Amanda stopped by with a surprise: a petition signed by Angie's co-workers and patients supporting her remaining as chief of staff.
Kendall went to see Liza. Kendall didn't believe Liza's claim that she didn't know that David was blackmailing Greenlee.
Jesse arrived at the police station to question Ryan. Greens showed up; Jesse allowed her in. "Get through to him," Jesse told her. Alone with Greens, Ryan told her that she had to trust him. Greens said that David was dead because of her. Ryan disagreed with her. While Jesse held Kendall at bay, Liza showed up and told Greens to leave so that she could question the suspect. After some bickering between the ladies, Greens left. Ryan told Liza that he wants to make a deal in exchange for the evidence against Greenlee. Kendall tried to console Greenlee and detailed her plan to snatch the "evidence" against Greens from Liza's briefcase. Kendall swiped Liza's car keys. DNA tests arrived; they proved that. Liza told Jesse that Ryan needed to be booked for murder. She went to her car to get the new evidence but realized that her keys were missing. Kendall, meanwhile, tossed Liza's keys in the wastebasket at Wildwind and eyed Liza's briefcase. Jesse read Ryan his rights.
Madison phoned Frankie, then bumped into Natalia, who icily told her to leave Frankie alone.
Friday
Marissa went to the mansion and expressed his condolences over David's death. Scott and Annie returned unexpectedly from their honeymoon and Annie asked if Ryan really killed him. She remained silent. Annie departed to figure out what to tell Emma. Marissa told Scott that she wasn't sure how she was. JR and Marissa discussed telling AJ. Marissa decided to go pick the boy up from school. Scott came down on JR for making a power grab for Chandler while Scott was away. Scott fumed that if JR wanted a way, he now had one.
From his jail cell, Ryan told Jesse about David's blackmail of Greenlee. Liza freaked because of her missing keys. Security footage showed to Liza and Jesse that it was Kendall who swiped them. Liza took off to find her. Annie went to see Ryan. He told her that he couldn't remember what had happened the night of the murder. Annie pledged her support to Ryan.
Kendall phoned Greens and told her that she'd gotten Liza's suitcase. Greens was grateful. She went into the hotel room to get a suit for David's funeral. David's ghost appeared to her and Greens tried to will him out of her head. Kendall got the briefcase open. Jesse and Liza burst in and Liza was upset to find that Kendall had burned the evidence. Jesse had no choice but to arrest Kendall for tampering with evidence. He tossed deposited Kendall near Ryan; she told him that she'd "allegedly" torched the evidence. Jesse called Liza out on having planned to use the fake evidence in court. They bickered viciously.
Greenlee and Marissa bumped into each other at the yacht club and offered one another condolences. David's ghost followed Greens there and also to the park. Greenlee went to the prison and thanked Kendall and Ryan for their support. Kendall made bail and left. "Disappointed?" she smirked to Liza. Jesse told Kendall that she couldn't leave town to meet Zach. Greenlee pledged to Ryan that she was going to get him out of the jam he was in. David's ghost paid a visit to Greens at the prison, as well.
Marissa broke the news of David's death to AJ. She encountered Scott, who admitted he was worried that JR would go after Annie now that JR and Marissa have split.
JR confronted Annie about her early honeymoon return, implying that she'd come back because of him, not David's death. Annie was offended, then asked JR to ask Colby to lie about having seen Ryan and David's fight. Marissa called JR and told him that AJ already knew about David's death. JR was upset to hear it.
