JR and Marissa returned to the fishing cabin after an attempt to catch dinner. JR lovingly forbade her from talking about David. She agreed, as long as he didn't discuss Babe. Quickly, the verboten topics became difficult to avoid. She asked him to tell him what was really going on with him, as he was always tired. "Let me in, please," she pleaded. He claimed that he had been drinking again. She was mad but promised not to tell David, then pledged her faith in his ability to stay sober. Marissa was confused when JR pulled back from their kiss. Finally, he admitted, "I have cancer."

At ConFusion, Tad was too distracted to pay attention to Taylor, who was talking about opening up a bar similar to the Comeback. An upset Jake arrived and Taylor told Jake to take control of the situation. Jake left and Tad told Taylor to keep her advice to herself. Taylor accused Tad of not being willing to invest in their relationship and rushed off, encountering Brot on her way out. He reminded her that it was the anniversary of 9/11 and suggested that they grab Frankie for a drink to discuss their feelings about the significance of the date.

At Wildwind, David told Amanda to choose between her son and her husband. Amanda went to check on the baby when he cried and David fingered her wedding band. When she returned to the room, he apologized. Amanda told David that she would never be happy at Wildwind and could never love him. David went to the hospital and gave Amanda's wedding ring to Jake, telling him that Amanda had taken it off willingly. He goaded Jake and enjoyed getting under his skin. Jake went to Wildwind and confronted Amanda. She movingly spoke of her love for him. He promised he wouldn't forget that she loves him. They made love and then he had to sneak out. David returned home and stared at Amanda. "You thought you could get away with it," he accused. She was relieved when he turned out to be referring to the fact that she had been crying.... Jake returned home and thought of Amanda.

Kendall made a noise, which made Liza suspicious. When Zach came home, she told him that someone was in the house. Zach went to check, glared at Kendall, then told Liza that no one was there. Liza again failed to get Zach to agree to use Emma to get to Annie. He refused her offer of a play date with their sons, then escorted her out. Kendall emerged and told Zach that Liza needs a reality check. Zach urged her to let him handle Liza's interest in him. She wanted to know how he felt about her and again he said that he didn't have answers for her. She lost her temper and said he should get Liza to handle their divorce. He told her to calm down. "I have run out of ways to apologize," she sighed.

Liza sat down with Tad at ConFusion and he admitted that he has no one to blame for his rotten love life but himself. Liza suggested that he might just not be that in to Taylor. Liza said that she was going to fight for Zach. Tad called it a psychotic fantasy. Zach then phoned Liza to say that he thought they should set up a meeting between Annie and Emma, after all, and that he had changed his mind for Kendall. Kendall, meanwhile, kept working on her book, with a Liza-type character as the villainess.
