"Marry me. Be my wife," sighed Rick to Steffy before pulling her into a kiss. "You love me, I love you, what more do you need?" he wondered, suggesting they elope. They began brainstorming about their future together, but Steffy wasn't quite ready to say "yes." Did Rick really love her or could marrying her be an "ultimate act of revenge" against Ridge? After all, Rick's behavior has been pretty bizarre. "I've given you my heart, but it doesn't feel very safe," she said. "Are you using me?" she demanded. "My feelings for you are real," he swore. "I am not faking this." Despite his
assurance, Steffy still wasn't sure. Rick pointed much so they could be together and he didn't want to lose her. Steffy
pointed out that he doesn't think before he acts. She couldn't be with someone like that! "Okay," said Rick, his whole demeanor changing. He solemnly said she'd see him change. "I'm going to do everything right," he promised. He kissed her and walked out.
Ridge thanked Brooke for asking Rick to leave the company. She felt like she'd turned her back on her son. Ridge hoped the "kick in the butt" would help get his life on track and insisted Rick would see the wisdom of Brooke's decision in time. Ridge wanted to focus on their family — which Rick would find a place in after he'd gone away and grown up a bit. Ridge held Brooke and comforted her and then teased her into a makeout session.
Rick apologized to Eric (yet again) and Eric noted that things could be different at Forrester for Rick in the future. "Get some help," he urged his son. Rick promised to try and be better and regretted disappointing his dad. Eric hugged him and assured him he'd never stopped loving him. Ridge and
Brooke walked in and Brooke tried to explain, again, her decision to fire Rick. Rick apologized to her and to a skeptical Ridge, promising to earn back his self-respect and their respect, too. Ridge didn't quite buy the act, but Brooke thought Rick already seemed changed. Up at the Sky Lounge,
Rick swore to Steffy that they'd be together and "to Hell with your father." He kissed her, made her promise to wait for him, and ran off.
Tuesday
Rick shook the hand of a recruiter, who welcomed him to the U.S. Army! Meanwhile, at Forrester, Steffy got all emo over a package addressed to Rick and flashed back on his passionate promise that they'd be together. Ridge tried to comfort her — by reminding her she couldn't trust Rick "ever." She instantly jumped to Rick's defense. Ridge said Rick was "beyond redemption" no matter what crazy thing he came up with to prove his worth. In Eric's office, he and Brooke discussed Rick's actions and if Rick could really
change. Rick walked in and told his father he'd joined the military. Eric was proud and Brooke shocked. Rick insisted that the Army would straighten him out and make him a man his parents could be proud of. Elsewhere, Marcus finally resurface (Hi, Marcus!) and he and Steffy talked about their defunct relationship and her affair with Rick. Marcus, being awesome, offered his undying support and urged her to stay away from Rick. Upstairs, Rick reassured Brooke about his plans and and told his parents he loves them. Then, he called Steffy to meet him at the beach house. Alone, Eric comforted
Brooke, who prayed Rick had made "the right decision for everybody." Steffy dropped by to find Rick all wet and shirtless and she reminded him they couldn't see each other. Rick told her he's turning his life around. The old Rick was going away and a new Rick would return in his place. "I have enlisted. I'm joining the Army," he said.
Nick walked in to see Bridget hard at work in Madame X mode. They chatted amiably about business. Not so amiable were Jackie and Katie at Chez Marone. Jackie was happy to tout Bridget working closely with her son. At the office, Nick and Bridget talked about the turn their lives had taken. "I guess we both got what we deserve," Bridget shrugged. Back home, Jackie took the gloves off and blasted Katie for stealing Bridget's life. "You saw a chance to ensnare my son and you went for it," she accused. She wanted Bridget and Nicky reunited and would gladly see Katie "sent packing to
Hell." Nick, meanwhile, assured Bridget she had already lived up to the hype of Madame X. Later, Bridget made a business call and stared at a photo of Nick on Jackie's desk. And Jackie warned Katie not to underestimate her "sway" with her son. She dubbed Katie a "black widow" and a "disgrace," saying, "I'll be damned if I'm going to have you as a daughter in law." "Mother, that's enough!" Nick cried.
Wednesday
Nick yelled at his mother for going off on Katie, but Jackie's fury couldn't be contained. "It was seduction, pure and simple!" she said of their Catalina romp. At Jackie M, Clarke looked over Bridget's designs and offered his insight. He contended she had talent but "Lady M" had brought her on for the other reasons, too. Bridget assured Clarke she loved designing and this wasn't about Nick. Nick defended Katie yet again and Jackie stormed out. Alone, Nick assured Katie he's "completely committed" to her. Jackie, meanwhile, came to work and asked Bridget if she wanted Nick back. Yup, she
definitely wanted the duo back together and Katie out of the picture. Elsewhere, Nick was assuring Katie "You're not the villain in this," and said Jackie didn't have to come to their wedding. In fact, they could get married today at the house! "We're having our fairy tale, no matter what anyone else thinks," promised Nick. At the office, Jackie got a call about
the plans being changed and was horrified. "Do you want to stop it?" Jackie asked Bridget, begging for her help. "He cannot marry Katie!"
Rick told a shocked Steffy that he'd signed paperwork at the recruiter's office. He was definitely Army-bound. "I can't lose you!" Steffy cried at the prospect of him going to war. "This is going to make me stronger," he insisted. Steffy didn't want him to go. Rick said he had to do this for them, to change people's opinions of him. "It's a done deal," he said, needing to know she'd wait for him. He also asked her to let him prove he loves her. "Let me make love to you; make love to me," he urged, drawing her into his arms.
Thursday
Ridge offered Brooke some quality time in the steam room, but she was still shaken about Rick joining the military. Ridge was shocked to hear that Rick, "a whiny kid who has never taken orders from anybody," had enlisted. "It seems like another one of his ploys," he asserted. Then, he pointed out Rick only has one kidney and Rick likely knew the Army wouldn't take him. "He's playing the sympathy game," he shrugged. Brooke wanted to believe her son was sincere and was very proud of Rick. And she'd miss him. "Well, I won't," deadpanned Ridge. (Harsh! LOL!) Brooke was horrified, noting she needed a little support at a time like this. Ridge apologized but then went to check on Steffy just in case this was one of Rick's stunts.
At Forrester, busybody Marcus wondered if Steffy and Rick "did it!" and was relieved when she gasped "No!" Steffy herself was still angsty over Rick enlisting. Rick showed up at the Army recruiter's office and showed off his ridiculous sense of privilege (asking about upgrading to business class en route to boot camp, LOL!) before being shuffled in for a physical. As the doctor looked through his charts, shirtless Rick asked whether he'd been in combat. The doctor countered by asking about his big fall. After talking to Dr. Simons, the Army doc brought up Rick's paralysis and his "overall medical history" and said he couldn't sign off on Rick's enlistment. And to be honest, Rick looked kinda relieved! He showed up at the Forrester mailroom to try and convince Steffy to have sex before he left, but when she said how much she'd miss him, he copped to being rejected by the Army. Selfish though it may be, Steffy was glad he wasn't going. But they still couldn't be together! Rick believed they could survive. Heck, he could built them a mud hut in the middle of nowhere! (LOL!) Steffy reminded him Ridge wouldn't allow their relationship and she wouldn't hurt Ridge. "Make peace with my father. That's the only way this will work for me," she said. Rick didn't buy that...and Ridge spied them embracing through the mail room
window.
Nick flashed back on marrying and being with Bridget and then Beth showed up for Nick and Katie's intimate little ceremony. At Jackie M, Jackie urged Bridget to help her stop the wedding, saying she and Nick should be raising Jack. Bridget pointed out Nick wasn't innocent in the Catalina romp. Jackie said Nick was "terribly sorry" and that men don't think with their heads. "I will not go down that road again!" Bridget swore. Jackie was insistent upon yanking Katie out of Nick's life "by her stupid ponytail" if she had to. At Chez Marone, Katie donned a white dress and suit-clad Nick brought her a bouquet from the garden. "I can't wait to marry you," trilled Katie, while Nick looked like he could wait. Later, Beth told Katie she has her full support. As Nick, Katie, and Beth gathered, Jackie burst in with Bridget hot on her heels! "You're not gonna marry that woman! I won't allow it!" she declared.
Friday
Ridge peered through the blinds as Rick and Steffy pulled back from their embrace. Steffy kept insisting she and Rick couldn't be together until Ridge approved and Rick kept making his pitch. Ridge bitterly noted his daughter was falling for it and walked away. Steffy, meanwhile, worried that the stress that Ridge was under could lead to dire consequences and begged Rick not to do this to her. Rick silently walked away. Jake noted both Rick and
Ridge's departures. Rick and Ridge ended up on the roof (not the Sky Lounge, the actual roof) and Steffy told a relieved Brooke that Rick's not joining the Army after all. Neither of them were relieved when they realized Rick and Ridge might be rasslin'. Up top, Rick and Ridge had a spat over Rick's intention to join the Army. Jake told Steffy and Brooke he'd seen Ridge and some other guy head up the stairwell. Rick and Ridge continued to argue and Rick insisted Steffy would be his. Ridge lunged at Rick and when Rick sidestepped, he accidentally went over the ledge. Rick struggled to keep him from falling.
At Chez Marone, Jackie kept railing about stopping Nick and Katie's wedding, much to everyone's horror. Bridget assured everyone that she's put this all behind her and has no interest in stopping the nuptials. As Beth and Jackie got into it, Katie and Bridget got into it, too. So much for putting it behind her! "My patience is beginning to wane, because you keep pushing my buttons," Bridget snarled. Nick asked everyone to adjourn to neutral corners and then blasted his mom. Jackie insisted he knew what she'd said was the truth. "Marrying Katie is a mistake," she said, insisting he doesn't love her. Nick accused Jackie of "controlling" him, and said the wedding would continue and swore Jackie would give them her blessing. A shaken Jackie offered Katie a halting apology for her rudeness and so did Bridget. Katie realized this wasn't the wedding day she'd envisioned and asked to talk to Nick alone. Everybody (including the minister) departed and a devastated Katie went upstairs.
