Monday
Ridge dangled from the edge of the building as Rick hung on to him. Brooke
came up to the roof and, from a distance, saw Rick pull Ridge back up to
safety. "I would never let you die," a sweaty Rick panted to Ridge and
walked away. As Rick descended the stairs, a distraught Brooke ran up and he
explained what happened. Brooke was grateful and proud of her son's
courageous action but he asked her not to tell anyone since the Forresters
were so against him right now. All he was concerned was that Ridge might
change his mind about Rick seeing Steffy. "If Ridge can forgive me, the
healing can begin," Rick noted.
Taylor was surprised to find out from Stephanie that Rick joined the Army.
"He's always working some angle," groused Steph and summed up that he was
trying to get back in everybody's "good graces." Taylor worried that Steffy
was "way over her head" when it came to Rick and Stephanie opined that Ridge
and Brooke were on such opposite sides that their marriage might not
survive. After Taylor left, a disheveled Ridge walked in and revealed to his
mother that Rick saved his life. "Phoebe and I were both in the wrong place
at the wrong time," Ridge conceded but he complained that Rick would use his
heroics to look good.
Brooke later found Ridge and expressed her relief that he is still alive.
She admitted that Rick didn't want anyone to know about what transpired on
the roof and Ridge snarked that Rick is once again manipulating her. Brooke
was incredulous and surmised that her son could have
genuine feelings for Steffy, but Ridge refused to let his daughter be taken
in by Rick. Brooke then begged Ridge to let Rick feel accepted in the family
again.
Stephanie confronted Rick about milking his heroic deed. Stephanie asked
when he was shipping out and Rick confessed that he had been rejected. Steph
laughed, then accused him of knowing all along that the Army wouldn't accept
him.
Tuesday
"My son saved your life," Brooke reminded Ridge and asked him to let Rick
back into the company. Ridge said he couldn't do that because he had to
protect Steffy. "I'm not going to waver on Rick, not now, not ever," Ridge
growled and stormed out.
As Rick packed up his office, an anxious Steffy appeared and he detailed his
nasty run-in with Ridge. Rick said that for "the first time, in a long time"
he felt they had a chance to be together but would explain later. He shooed
Steffy out so no one would see them together. Rick then found a tearful
Brooke, who explained that Ridge still hasn't changed his attitude about
Rick. He became upset and said that Brooke wouldn't want him to leave the
company if Ridge wasn't pressuring her. "I need your support more than
ever," Rick pleaded with his mom but she said she had to stick to her
decision for the sake of her marriage. Brooke said she had one more person
she can talk to and told Rick not to lose hope.
Steffy gratefully hugged her father and she pointed out that Ridge was alive
because of Rick. Ridge accused Rick of taking advantage of his heroic deed
and Ridge insisted he was more determined than ever to keep Rick away from
Steffy. "The guy is a threat to me and everybody I care about," Ridge fumed.
After Ridge left, Steffy received an office memo that Eric is holding a
press conference about Rick.
Ridge tracked down Rick and declared that he was determined that Rick leave
the company. They started arguing about Steffy and Ridge vowed that as
long as Steffy is working at Forrester Creations, Rick won't be. Meanwhile,
Brooke suggested to Steffy that she leave Forrester Creations instead of
Rick. "Will you make this sacrifice for the man you love?" Brooke queried.
Wednesday
Steffy warned Brooke that her plan for Steffy to leave Forester Creations instead of Rick could backfire if Ridge finds out that Brooke thought of it. Brooke was willing to take the risk and Steffy agreed to talk to her dad.
"Just answer the questions and keep your emotions out of it," Katie advised Eric just before the press conference. He was obviously pained that he had to publicly fire his son. After Eric left, Katie was conferring with Thorne, who was anxious to be named the new president of Forrester. When Brooke entered and said that there's still a chance that Rick could stay with the company. Thorne doubted that could happen and declared, "It's my turn."
Taylor was surprised when Thomas revealed that he knew about Rick and Steffy's relationship. Thomas vowed to protect his sister but Taylor said that could be difficult because Steffy is old enough to make her own decisions. "I feel as long as they're together that our family is in danger," Thomas fretted but Taylor hoped Steffy would eventually do the right thing.
Eric found Rick and said it was almost time for the press conference. Rick complained about his dad giving into Ridge's demands but Eric reminded him that he had been given several chances and blew them. Rick revealed how he saved Ridge's life and Eric was impressed. Eric and Rick met up with Katie and Thorne. Eric said in light of Rick's heroic deed, he wanted to delay the press conference. Thorne was not amused.
Steffy told Ridge that she was dissatisfied with her job and wanted to leave Forrester Creations. Ridge immediately suspected that she was quitting so that Rick could stay. "Did Rick ask you to talk to me?" Ridge wanted to know. She denied it but he refused to let his daughter sacrifice her career for Rick. Brooke walked in just as Steffy wailed, "If you cared about me, you'll let him stay at the company!" When Ridge got more upset, Brooke confessed that Steffy's resignation was her idea. "Nobody has to leave," Brooke urged. "That really is the best solution." She then asked Ridge to do this "for me."
Thursday
Owen worried to Pam that the press conference would be about phasing out the
surf line. Rick happened by and Owen revealed that he had some ideas for the
surf line but Rick shut him down by snarking that Owen should be waxing
surfboards and not designing clothes. Jake was nearby and overheard the
exchange.
Ridge raged at Brooke for her plan to keep Rick at Forrester. Ridge insisted
that Steffy stay with the company and Rick go. Steffy insisted on leaving
while Brooke kept defending her son. "He belongs in Forrester," she
insisted. Rick showed up and Ridge criticized him for manipulating Brooke
and Steffy. Rick thanked the ladies for their support, which annoyed Ridge.
After Rick and Steffy left, Brooke pleaded that there was still place at
Forrester for Rick but Ridge urged her not to fight him on this. Brooke was
stunned when Ridge also explained that he felt Rick actually hesitated about
saving his life
Stephanie filled in Taylor on Ridge's near-death experience. Taylor was more
convinced than ever that should Rick is a disruptive presence at Forrester
but wondered if Brooke would allow her son to be fired. Stephanie revealed
that Brooke supported the decision for Rick's ouster, but Taylor didn't
believe Brooke would go through with it.
Eric and Katie listened to Thorne and Felicia revel in the fact that Rick was on his way
out of Forrester. Later, Jake eavesdropped on Thorne talking to. Knight affirmed that once Rick is gone, he will be happy to throw all his support behind Thorne as president. Meanwhile, Rick continued to ruffle feathers as he condescendingly asked Marcus why he wasn't wearing
his uniform. Rick then met with Steffy and expressed his undying love for
her.
The press gathered in Eric's office and Stephanie showed up, too. Brooke and
Ridge arrived and Eric asked Brooke if it was true that Rick saved Ridge's
life. She said yes, then Eric took the podium and started to address the
reporters. Brooke interrupted, stepped up to the podium and started to stutter as she talked about overcoming adversity at Forrester. "I'm going to make a life-changing announcement,"
Brooke declared.
Friday
At the press conference, a reporter pointed out that Brooke seemed
"flustered." Brooke kept beating around the bush as she admitted to problems
at Forrester. She finally announced that the new collection would soon be
ready and praised everyone's efforts, including her son as president and
Thorne as vice president. The Forresters were stunned by her speech,
especially Ridge. Katie called an end to the meeting and thanked the press
for coming.
Bridget asked for Taylor's help in keeping Rick at Forrester. "Ostracizing
my brother from the company isn't going to change his behavior," Bridget
begged but Taylor angrily said she didn't care what happens to Rick, even if
he did save Ridge's life.
After the journalists were gone, Stephanie, Thorne and Felicia badgered
Brooke about why she didn't fire Rick. Steffy announced she was leaving the
company so Rick could stay but Stephanie refused to allow her granddaughter
to quit for that "son of a bitch." Rick thanked his mother for the second
chance and an angry Ridge stormed out of the room with Brooke in pursuit.
Steffy affirmed her love for Rick, which sickened everyone in the room.
While Pam fielded a flood of calls about the press conference, Owen and
Marcus discussed their extreme dislike for Rick. Bridget later approached
Owen, who told her that Rick is still president but everyone else was very
upset with that.
Brooke tried to talk to Ridge but he was too overwhelmed with fury over her
failure to fire Rick. He left Forrester and met up with Taylor. He recounted
what happened at the press conference and Taylor emotionally insisted,
"We've got to stop this." Ridge took Taylor into a comforting embrace. After
Ridge left, Stephanie showed up and complained about the day's turn of
events. She predicted to Taylor that Ridge will surely see Brooke in an
unfavorable light now. "I think Brooke has finally lost his trust," Steph
clucked.
As soon as Rick and Steffy were alone, they started making out. Meanwhile,
Brooke returned home and hoped Ridge would come back. When Ridge did return,
he said he was too angry to talk. Brooke said she was only trying to think
of a way for the family to heal but Ridge refused to ever forgive Rick.
Brooke tearfully begged for Ridge to love her the way she loves him.
