Bold and Beautiful Recaps

B&B Week of January 21, 2008

Monday

Donna surprised Eric with a breakfast of strawberries and whipped cream. Eric asked if she believed in them. She said of course she does, and asked him how he could be so forgiving. Eric said together they will stop her from further attempts at sabotaging their relationship. While they snuggled on the sofa, Eric asked Donna why she was tearing up. Donna said she was afraid of hurting Eric further. Eric reassured her that they would handle her "compulsion" together. Donna marveled at how incredible a guy Eric is.

Jackie told Bridget she knows that Brooke is Jack's biological mother. Bridget conceded it was only a matter of time until Jackie knew. Jackie said she doesn't believe in coincidences. She argued that Brooke and Nick belong together, and reminded Bridget that she herself let go of Nick because she knew that he and Brooke were meant to be. Bridget declared that Nick and Brooke's connection is in the past. After Bridget left, Jackie made a promise to baby Jack that she won't rest until his dad is with "his real mommy."

Ridge welcomed Brooke home with a big hug. Brooke said it had been a long day, but Ridge figured out there was something wrong. She told Ridge about her argument with Taylor and finding alcohol in Taylor's cup. Ridge was stunned that Taylor "would go anywhere near alcohol." He suggested to Brooke that it's not her place to get involved in Nick and Taylor's issues. Brooke said she just can't pretend that Jack doesn't exist. Brooke and Ridge disagreed over whether Brooke did the right thing by taking baby Jack from the house. "Maybe I saved a life today," Brooke mused. "The child cannot be a part of our lives," warned Ridge, reminding Brooke of how close the two of them are to everything they've always wanted.

Taylor and Nick argued over what the real problem is — Taylor's drinking relapse or Brooke's involvement in their lives. "You know more than anyone that alcohol isn't the answer," yelled Nick. Taylor conceded that and took full responsibility, but told Nick he needs him to support and defend her now, not Brooke. Nick said he wants to help her, but pouring a drink in front of their child crossed a line. He warned her that he's reaching a breaking point. Nick told Taylor he feels like he's losing her and that she's losing herself, and he doesn't know how to stop it. "Do you want me to leave so you can pick up your life with Brooke?" Taylor challenged. Nick said Taylor's rivalry with Brooke gets in the way of everything. He vowed he'll continue loving her and working on their marriage if she can love their son unconditionally. Nick assured Taylor he knows she can do it. "Love the boy," Nick asked, telling Taylor "I love you." "I love you," Taylor tearfully replied. "I'm here for you forever," she pledged, as the two hugged.

Tuesday

Jackie paid Taylor a visit and discovered Taylor was doing some housecleaning — packing up stuff that belonged to Brooke when she was with Nick. Taylor said she felt Brooke's presence in the house and hoped that by redecorating she'd feel better. Jackie told her no amount of redecorating would erase Brooke out of her life. After Jackie left Taylor resumed her housecleaning and came across a box of photos. Taylor was unnerved to see that Nick had saved photos from his wedding to Brooke. She was interrupted by Rick, who dropped off a gift for the baby. Rick sensed something was wrong, and asked if it had to do with his mom. When Rick remarked that baby Jack is "the spitting image of his mother," Taylor hallucinated that Brooke was there and started having an anxiety attack. Rick helped Taylor settle down. He got her some water and offered an ear and a shoulder if she needs someone. Taylor realized that Rick doesn't know the truth. Taylor broke it to him and Rick listened as Taylor explained the details. She was surprised when Rick told her he understands her feelings. "Just because I was a child doesn't mean I couldn't see what [Brooke] was doing to you," Rick said. "I saw it all." Rick explained he loves his mother but that doesn't mean that he loves her choices. He offered to do anything he could for Taylor and urged her to call him anytime. Rick showed himself out while Taylor curled up on the chair and cried. "I can't ever escape Brooke," she sobbed. Taylor flipped through more photos of Nick and Brooke and became enraged. She began to hallucinate that Brooke was tending to baby Jack. Nick returned and found Taylor crying on the sofa. Nick saw the photos and apologized for still having them. Everywhere Taylor looked she saw Brooke smirking at her. "Make her go away," Taylor screamed to Nick. "She's making me go insane!"

At Insomnia, Nick ran into Brooke. Over coffee he explained his circumstances with Taylor, and how they have recommitted to each other. Brooke told Nick how lucky Taylor is, and they held hands. As the two shared a warm moment Bridget entered and spied them together. Bridget confronted them and warned them that Ridge or Taylor could easily misinterpret things if they had seen them. Rick tracked down Bridget and Brooke and asked if they intentionally switched Taylor's eggs. He expressed his concern about Taylor's state of mind. Brooke became determined to "save" Jack from Taylor before she "self-destructs."

Wednesday

Rick vented his frustration over the egg mix-up to Bridget and Brooke. He told his mom to stop deluding herself into thinking that Jack is Taylor's baby. Rick insisted that the baby's biology will trump everybody's declarations of who the parents are "supposed" to be. He suggested that now is the time for Brooke to get back with Nick. Bridget became angry at Rick's idea to bust up Nick and Taylor. Rick said it's in her best interests, because Taylor has been freaking out. Brooke asked Rick if he thought Taylor was drinking. Rick said he didn't believe so, but he urged Brooke to follow her heart — back to Nick and baby Jack.

Later, Nick watched a nervous Taylor and asked her if she'd been drinking. She insisted she hadn't been and got angry that Brooke planted those seeds of doubt in Nick's mind. He declared that Brooke was out of his life, but added that Taylor needs to get Brooke out of her own life. Taylor cried that Nick needs to get rid of his photos and other things related to Brooke to prove he really has moved on. Nick suggested they focus on the future, beginning with baby Jack's christening. Taylor agreed. When Nick stepped out Taylor intercepted a text message to Nick from Brooke, who asked him if things are okay because she learned Taylor was flipping out again. Taylor visited Brooke and angrily demanded that she stop calling and texting her husband. Brooke insisted she's just concerned. Taylor told her to stifle her "concern" and live up to her word to stop interfering in Taylor's marriage. Taylor went on a tirade about how Brooke ruined her marriage to Ridge and is now on the verge of doing the same thing again with Nick. Brooke admitted that she feels a "connection" to baby Jack, but stressed that Jack is Taylor's child. Taylor said he needs Brooke to back off. Brooke advised her to focus on her son and get past her feelings towards her. "But if you can't, I will be involved," threatened Brooke. Taylor asked if Ridge knows that Brooke is so invested in Jack. Brooke suggested that Taylor is hung up by her own insecurities as a wife and a mother. Taylor said she doesn't know why she's feeling the way she is but staked her claim to Nick and Jack and vowed that Brooke would not be in their lives.

Rick paid Nick a visit, saying he heard the news about baby Jack. Rick said he knows how Nick and Brooke feel about each other. He thought it was cruel to make Taylor try to be a mother to Brooke's child, and suggested that Brooke and Nick would be better off back together. Nick said he really loved Taylor. Rick suggested if Nick really loves Taylor, he should let her go. Rick asked Nick to think about the wellbeing of baby Jack, and whether Taylor can really be a suitable mom to him.

Thursday

Jackie needled Nick about Taylor and about what Nick really wants. "You can't turn back the clock" on the egg mix-up, Jackie reminded, and suggested that the mix-up will prove to be an "unbearable weight" for Taylor for years to come. Nick ignored his mother's pleas and said he hoped she'd be at Jack's christening.

Taylor declared to Brooke that she will be the perfect wife for Nick and the perfect mother for Jack. Brooke was gratified to hear that, and suggested Taylor just needs to get a grip on herself. Taylor insisted that her insecurities are going away. Brooke reassured her that she poses no threat to Taylor or the life she wants to have. "Your family really needs to see you strong now, Taylor," Brooke advised. Taylor returned home to find Jackie watching baby Jack while Nick was out. She tried to set Jackie straight about her "concerns" about Taylor's marriage, and accused Jackie of trying to make her feel insecure. Jackie asked Taylor if she seriously thinks she'll be able to separate baby Jack from Brooke. Jackie kept playing on Taylor's insecurities. "You'll never be able to accept Jack as anyone other than Brooke's," she mused. Taylor flipped out and accused Jackie of wanting Nick back with Brooke. She angrily warned her mother-in-law to start supporting her or else she won't be welcome in her house anymore — and won't be able to visit her grandson, either. Alone, Taylor had flashbacks to all her recent run-ins with Brooke and struggled to remain calm. But Taylor experienced another hallucination, this time of Brooke cradling baby Jack and then of Brooke making love to Nick. Taylor ran screaming through the house, grabbed a bottle of liquor and began drinking. When Taylor opened her eyes the hallucinations had vanished. She took another swig from the bottle, collapsed onto the floor, and continued to drink.

Nick paid Brooke a visit and learned that Taylor intercepted Brooke's text message for him. He expressed frustration, asking when Taylor's problems will stop. Nick gave Brooke photos of them together with Hope and RJ. They shared a warm moment reminiscing about when those photos were taken. Nick vented his frustrations and concerns about Taylor. Brooke offered an ear and a shoulder. Nick told her about the christening and his hopes that the celebration will help Taylor turn a corner. Brooke admitted that she loves baby Jack, "even though it's forbidden," and wished that everything will work out for Nick and Taylor.

Friday

Nick woke up in a chipper mood and told Taylor she had slept so soundly the night before he didn't want to wake her. Taylor said she needed to speak with him before he left for the office. When Nick went to go get dressed Taylor took a swig of alcohol. When he returned Taylor credited Nick for her newfound sense of peace and happiness, and marveled at what a great new day it is for them and their family. Taylor began to seduce Nick. "Make love to me," she whispered in his ear. After making love, Nick was happy to see how happy and carefree she was. Taylor brought Jack over to the bed and the two doted on him. "What happened?" asked Nick. "It seems you've changed overnight." "You're forgetting I'm a psychiatrist," explained Taylor. "What about Brooke?" asked Nick. "That's all in the past," Taylor insisted, thanking Nick for helping her find her footing. After Nick left Taylor pulled the bottle out from under her mattress, declared she didn't need it anymore, and told baby Jack she could be a wonderful mother to him. But when baby Jack started crying, Taylor started taking more swigs from the bottle.

Storm told Katie he's in the throes of counseling for his anger and other issues but feels that he has the weight of the world off his shoulders. He said he feels like thanking Stephanie, but Katie said that was a bad idea and he should just stay away from her. Donna arrived and Storm mentioned his idea to Donna, who agreed that it's a bad move. Katie and Donna encouraged Storm to go back to Europe and spend some quality time reconnecting with their dad. Storm said he'd consider it. When he left Katie told Donna she has to finally end things with Eric today. Donna told Katie breaking up with Eric hasn't been that simple and that she's really tried. Katie said she doesn't have a choice and reminded Donna that keeping Storm out of prison is their most important priority, since Stephanie was due back from Chicago later that day. Donna suggested they call Stephanie's bluff. Katie said that wouldn't work and reminded Donna of her words about how they have to stick together as a family. "Storm won't survive prison," warned Katie. "Don't let the family down, please." Donna broke down and tearfully told Katie she doesn't need any more pressure. Alone, Donna lounged on the sofa and flashed back to all of her happy times with Eric. When she heard the door open she greeted Eric, but it was Stephanie who had arrived. La Forrester firmly told Donna now was the time to break things off with Eric once and for all. "Let's not have any more equivocations, arguments or debates. You simply say, 'Eric, we're finished.' That's it!" Stephanie commanded.
