Happy Labor Day! B&B was preempted due to CBS' coverage of the U.S. Open.
Tuesday
Owen comforted a skittish Donna, assuring her that Pam and the bear were both gone. "Why do you love me? I've caused you nothing but grief," she noted, waxing on about how wrong she'd been about him. She even compared him to Eric. They looked up at the starry sky (even though it was pitch black) and rhapsodized some more. Donna couldn't quite leave Big Bear without a sign from Eric, and then they saw a shooting star. "Life is meant to be lived, to be loved," translated Donna before cuddling Owen. Then she glanced down at her wedding ring and got the guilty willies. Owen urged her to keep hoping, kissing her hand in a gentlemanly fashion.
The Forrester clan (including Brooke and Taylor) all gathered to discuss crazy Aunt Pam's shenanigans, absolutely floored by her latest stunt. "None of this should have happened," said Ridge, reminding Stephanie that her sister is a "loose cannon." Stephanie said she didn't realize Pam was off her meds. When Rick got huffy, Felicia told him to shut up. Stephanie reiterated that she's upset over this and that they needed to have compassion for Pam's mental illness. Doc Taylor backed that observation. "Again, that's not an excuse!" cried Rick. Steph acknowledged that, admitting that Pam had done this for her. Doc Taylor explained how that logic worked. "I just wasn't aware. I just wasn't," said Stephanie. Later, she ended up at Eric's bedside, apologizing for what Pam had done and insisting she'd do anything to bring him back.
Katie got dressed after an exam with Dr. Caspary. Serious Dr. Patrick told her, "in good conscience," that he didn't think she should carry to term.
The stress on her heart was increasing and "it could cost you your life."
Katie insisted she would do what was best for her baby. When Nick came in, Dr. Patrick warned him that Katie might not survive this pregnancy. Katie kept insisting she'd be fine and then wondered if Nick was ready to tell Bridget. Katie had to believe that Bridget would "understand" and "accept" the truth in time (HA!), especially since Bridget and Nick might have to raise the baby. Nick couldn't accept that possibility, but Katie eventually got through to him. He agreed to tell Bridget ASAP.
Wednesday
Nick told Katie he had a whole plan to get Bridget out on the Marlin and tell her the truth. "Good luck," she said, before Brooke arrived to see her sis. Back on the Marlin, Nick cuddled Bridget, who talked about Aunt Pam going psycho on her dad and marveling at the consequences of people's actions. Nick offered a shoulder and tried to ease her mind. He held back any confessions, comforting Bridget with kisses. Back in L.A., Katie spilled the truth of her tryst to a horrified Brooke. Katie kept trying to spout excuses, insisting things were different and Bridget would be able to handle this. She told Brooke that there was more than just the Catalina sex: she was pregnant. Horrified Brooke slapped her. Back on the Marlin, Bridget noticed how angsty and serious Nick was, wondering what was wrong.
Stephanie sat by Eric's bedside with Ridge, wondering if it was possible Eric wouldn't come back to them at all. She also acknowledged how steadfast Donna had been in her belief in Eric. Stephanie regretted not recognizing the signs of Pam's illness. Then, Dr. Seifert, Steph's specialist for Eric, appeared. Across town at the Forrester mansion, Owen and Donna were back from Big Bear and Owen was still being the knight in shining armor. Donna emerged from the shower remembering good times with Eric. Owen brought her a cup of tea and continued to be all wonderful. Tension quickly flared between them and Owen urged Donna to get rest and tried to leave. But he couldn't get Donna off his mind. He came back to her bed and passionately kissed her. As their hands entangled, the camera cut to Stephanie holding Eric's hand. She admitted how afraid she was. "Don't leave," she pleaded. "I'll never forgive you if you do." To her surprise, his eyelids flickered. "Donna," he whispered, even as she said, "No, it's me." As he then recognized her, Stephanie beamed with joy and hugged him.
Thursday
Stephanie was the first to greet Eric when he woke from his coma. She explained what happened to him and said she'd call the doctors, the children and Donna with the news that he was awake. She kissed him. "I'll call Donna right now," Stephanie promised. Just then, an on-the-run Pam called Stephanie's cell phone.
Steph offered to meet her sister. "Donna should pay the price. She doesn't deserve him," a frantic Pam cried, begging her sister for forgiveness.
Pam remained convinced that the police wouldn't find her. Stephanie begged Pam not to hang up, but she did.
Brooke continued to be horrified at the news of Katie's pregnancy. "You are carrying (Bridget's) husband's baby," Brooke screamed at her sister. Katie tried to explain that Nick made her feel alive in what she thought were her final days. Brooke wanted to talk to Nick, but Katie didn't think that was a good idea. Brooke didn't think Bridget would be able to accept this, "no matter what Nick tells her."
Katie didn't think her situation was impossible, thought she did note that her pregnancy was a high-risk one, for both her and the baby. "It's a risk I'm willing to take," Katie admitted, adding she hopes Bridget will find it in her heart to forgive her. "I don't know if that's possible," Brooke warned, listing all of the wonderful things Bridget had done for Katie. "This could possibly be the end of her world," Brooke worried.
Meanwhile, Bridget and Nick enjoyed a romantic evening out (Bridget being blissfully unaware that her world was about to crash all around her). She asked her preoccupied husband what he was thinking about. "It feels so good to be here in your arms," she cooed, cuddling up with him. Nick said he had something to tell her, but she wanted to keep the focus on making love. Nick reminded Bridget how much he loves her. "But sometimes we end up hurting the person we love the most. There is something I have to tell you," he insisted. "This is serious," she realized. "Something happened on Catalina," Nick began. Bridget said nothing.
Donna was torn between Owen, who she was kissing passionately, and Eric, who she believed was still in a coma. "We can make each other so happy," Owen breathed. "I do want to be with you," Donna admitted, "but I'm still Eric's wife." Donna and Owen began to disrobe as a shadowy figure approached the door to the bedroom. Stephanie saw the couple in bed and was horrified. She returned to Eric's bedside to find him sleeping but still conscious. Images of Donna and Owen in bed replayed in her mind and rage covered her face. "You've taken your first steps back — back to me, back to our life together," Stephanie said as she kissed Eric again.
