Monday
Thanks to a furious and fiercely protective Stephanie standing guard, Rick
was unable to make much headway with Steffy. Once he was gone from the beach
house, Stephanie comforted Steffy with a hug. At Taylor's, Ridge wished
Brooke would open her eyes where her son was concerned, but Brooke felt like
he and Taylor had ganged up on her son. She also felt that Taylor was
circling her marriage like a vulture and assured her she didn't have a shot
with Ridge. After Brooke and Ridge left, Thomas dropped by on a break from
his therapy. Taylor told him that Steffy was moving home because she and
Rick were finito. On cue, the Stephs came home. Jubilant Thomas went to help
his sister unpack while Stephanie caught Taylor up. They discussed the shaky
state of the Ridge/Brooke union.
At Brooke's, Ridge wanted to table the subject of Rick, but the man himself
strolled out of the kitchen with a sandwich and an attitude. This led to
Ridge and Brooke arguing all over again and Ridge storming out (much to
Rick's glee). Rick griped about "Mr. Pious throwing a hissy fit," and then
blamed Mr. Pious for wrecking his relationship with Steffy. Back at
Taylor's, she and Ridge revealed how Rick had let Thomas go free in exchange
for Steffy's hand. Steffy was even more horrified than before! Steffy wished
her father would stay the night, noting all they were missing tonight was
Phoebe. Ridge agreed, but only if they got to watch "Attack of the Mutant
Zombie Women." Back at Brooke's, she was heartbroken over Ridge and Rick's
enmity affecting her marriage and Rick promised to stand by her. Alone with
Ridge for a moment as everyone else went to the video store, Stephanie noted
that being with this family was the happiest Ridge had ever been. "Her world
revolves around that boy," Stephanie warned of Brooke and Rick, telling
Ridge he needed to be willing to leave Brooke once and for all.
Tuesday
Thomas and Steffy enjoyed breakfast at Taylor's, complete with food
thievery, and their parents grinned. At Brooke's, she and Rick were
decidedly less cheerful about the sleepover as Rick twisted the knife about
Ridge staying with Taylor because of Ridge's hatred for him. No dummy,
Brooke wondered if Rick was manipulating her. He quickly assured her that he
wasn't. Taylor called Stephanie at work to update her on the warm family
evening and then turned her attention back to Ridge and the kids. Thomas
told Steffy he was "relieved" Rick is out of their lives. "We're still
family," Ridge reminded, adding, "I have two families, equally important."
Ridge then called and checked on Brooke. "It's not you, it's Rick," he
sighed of his overnight at Taylor's, before telling Brooke he intended to
ask Eric to fire Rick. He hung up, regretful, leaving Brooke flummoxed. Rick
urged her to stand up to Ridge. At Taylor's, Ridge was hopeful for the
future and praised Taylor as a "remarkable woman."
At Jackie M, Jackie, Steph, Bridget and Nick all converged, only to see the
cover of Eye on Fashion announcing the death of Bill Spencer. Stephanie was
shellshocked, noting she hadn't heard from Bill in a while and had put off
calling him. She called Caroline's sister, Karen, who surprised her by
saying Bill had instructed her to contact Stephanie! Steph
waxed on about Caroline and how Ridge's life would've been different if she
hadn't died. Later, Eric showed up to comfort Stephanie and take her to the
funeral — much to her wry surprise. "So you could be the sensitive
ex-husband?" she wondered. "This is so like you." She said his act is a way
for covering how he's really the "rutting, selfish old bastard." Eric was
shocked. Stephanie reiterated that she didn't need him or want him and bid
him goodbye.
Wednesday
The day of Bill's funeral, Katie noted how distracted Brooke was —
correctly realizing it wasn't Bill's death that had her in that condition.
Brooke revealed Ridge had spent the night at Taylor's. At Casa
Hayes-Forrester, Thomas noted to his mom that Brooke and Ridge's marriage
was in "major trouble." Taylor admitted she wished she'd fought harder for
Ridge and Thomas comforted her. Later, Stephanie arrived home and talked to
Taylor about Caroline...and Ridge. Thomas weighed in as well, adding that
Ridge "belongs here." Stephanie urged Taylor to take back control of her
life.
At Forrester, Eric and Ridge discussed Stephanie's new 'tude and Donna
arrived. Ridge cracked on Bill and Donna's association during "your modeling
days," and Donna revealed she's invited to Bill's will reading. After she
left, Ridge played Rick's recording for Eric and asked him to fire Rick.
Eric wondered how much trouble all of this was causing with Brooke and told
Ridge that he and Rick were just going to have to co-exist. Ridge stormed
out, deeming that impossible. He warily came home to Brooke's, where she
told him he could relax: Rick was gone. And Rick and Steffy had broken up,
"wasn't that enough?" Ridge noted that Rick was out of Steffy's life, but
not theirs. Cue one of their standard Rick arguments, with a side of "Taylor
wants you back!" Back at Forrester, a frantic Pam tried to track down Ridge
to sign some vital papers, with no luck.
At Jackie M, Karen arrived at Steph's office for the will reading. Stephanie
caught her up on the latest Forrester/Logan happenings and then Clarke
appeared. He was surprised that the turnout for the will reading was so
slim, and everyone was surprised to see Donna. Bill's lawyer read a
short statement and then handed out "gifts." Donna got a beautiful but empty
little jewel box (symbolic much?). Clarke got a chocolate gold medal "as
fake as your designs." Karen got 50% of his empire, and so did his son Bill,
Jr. Stephanie was sure Karen and her brother would be great at the
publishing biz! Donna and Clarke stormed out, huffy. Alone, Karen gave
Stephanie a moving letter from Bill. They talked about Caroline, and Karen
stepping into Bill's shoes and then said their goodbyes.
Thursday
Stephanie encouraged Taylor to "take a stand" and go for it with Ridge.
Taylor refused to pursue a man who was spoken for. The sanctity of marriage
was important to her and it was wrong to her to throw herself at a married
man "even if it is Ridge." Stephanie kept at her, even warning her to keep
an eye on Rick and Steffy lest a redux happen. Later, alone, Taylor flashed
back on all her good times with Ridge. Weddings, births, vacations, etc. She
wanted Ridge back baaaad, so much that she fantasized about him hitting the
sheets with her and swearing he wasn't going back to Brooke.
At Brooke's, Ridge insisted of his sleepover, "Steffy and Thomas needed me."
Brooke thought him constantly running to Taylor's was "inappropriate," and
noted both Taylor and his mother would be happy to see their marriage fail.
They then moved on to Rick and the recording. Brooke thought it was tragic,
saying Ridge got "pleasure" out of it. What happened to Phoebe was a
tragedy, corrected Ridge, wanting her to ship Rick to Paris. "He's my son,
he's not some kind of monster!" Brooke huffed as they continued to go around
and around. Ridge pointed out that Bridget had grown up in the same broken
home as Rick and turned out fine. Brooke refused to abandon her son. Ridge
gently urged her to cut the apron strings as Rick was a grown man. They
sighed, wishing they could just go back to their wedding day in Malibu.
Brooke promised Ridge that she was no longer a Rick/Steffy cheerleader and
that Rick would never touch Steffy again. They kissed and hugged, at peace
for the moment.
At Forrester, Pam flipped out over an error that would surely upset Ridge.
She pulled Stephanie aside to confess her stupidity and swear her to
secrecy. What had she done? She'd put in the wrong social security numbers
and dates on Brooke and Ridge's marriage license! She explained she hadn't
filled out the license paperwork properly after Ridge and Brooke's city hall
wedding. Their marriage was invalid! Pam ranted and raved, but Stephanie
cracked up. "Pam, you're a miracle worker!" she cackled.
Friday
A mirthful Stephanie asked Pam to keep her clerical error to herself — just
as Ridge walked in. Pam quickly covered, pretending she just had some papers
for the fashion show for him to sign. When Ridge left, Stephanie explained
she needed some time to work this out, as Pam's "screw-up" could be Ridge's
"salvation." Alone, Taylor kept daydreaming about the Way We Were. In
Ridge's office, Thorne wondered how his feelings for Rick were affecting his
marriage. Ridge said he and Brooke made a commitment for better or worse.
Thorne was happy to hear their marriage was solid, but worried that it was
too late for him to ever grow old with someone.
Brooke found Stephanie in the office and freaked. “Didn’t you make a promise
to never come back here again?” she asked. Stephanie taunted Brooke, asking
if Ridge’s dislike for her son was taking toll on their relationship. Brooke
needled Stephanie about no longer being married to Eric and no longer being
the matriarch of the company. She and Ridge were the signature couple of
Forrester, even though Stephanie spent years trying to groom “precious
Taylor” for that position. Stephanie threw mocking comments at "Mrs. Ridge
Forrester" as she stoked the fires of the Jackie M/Forrester Creations feud.
"You don't belong here anymore," Brooke told her. Stephanie continued to
make thinly veiled references to the invalid marriage, beaming wickedly as
she walked out. Pam finished shredding Ridge and Brooke's paperwork (at
Steph's urging) and Thorne dropped by, missing his mom. Brooke buzzed past
and blew off Pam bringing up her crocheted purses. Luckily, Pam had something to
be smug about! She cryptically hinted that to Thorne before shredding one of
Brooke's teddies. In her own office, Brooke flashed back on marrying Ridge
and greeted him with a kiss. Ridge told her not to waste energy thinking
about Stephanie. Their relationship was stronger than ever! "You are my
husband and I am your wife," Brooke sighed, kissing him.
B
Stephanie came home to Taylor and they talked about Steffy and then Ridge
and Brooke. When Taylor reminded her they had to respect Ridge's marriage,
Stephanie told her, "No we don't!" Taylor just didn't want to "go there."
Stephanie quit beating around the bush and revealed the invalid license:
"They are not married," she crowed of Ridge and Brooke.
