Bold and Beautiful Recaps

B&B Week of August 30, 2010

Monday

At Spencer Publications, Liam and Bill were both horrified at the prospect of being father and son. Over at Forrester, Thorne and Stephanie were hashing out the Liam issue as well. "I can't deny the possibility that I could have a son!" Thorne insisted, filling Ridge in on his history with Kelly Hopkins when he walked in on the confab. Thorne needed to find Liam ASAP! A Forrester employee told him Liam and Hope had left together. Back at Bill's office, Liam and Bill were spitting nails, and epithets, and Hope and Katie tried to mediate, suggesting they go get some beers and bond. Then, Thorne called Hope with his suspicions. Bill cracked up, and when Thorne heard, Hope revealed Bill was another daddy possibility. Thorne said they could easily solve this with a blood test, and told Hope to have everyone meet him at the hospital. Katie and Hope had a bit of a tough task convincing the guys to play along, but they eventually caved. Bill was willing to "bet the house" that he wasn't Liam's father. At Forrester, Ridge and Stephanie tried to talk some sense into Thorne, but he was determined to discover the truth.

At the lab, Bill continued to take potshots at Liam (asking if he'd even hit puberty yet!), who insisted he's not in this for the money. Thorne showed up, and Bill got even snarkier, giving them his own "test" and judging them to be the obvious father and son. Thorne took Liam outside to talk, as Katie tried to get Bill to simmer down. Bill remained in denial, dubbing Liam a "nerd" and, yes, a Forrester. In the hall, Thorne questioned Liam about Kelly and told him about his daughter, Alexandria. "I'd be very proud to have a son in our family, too," he admitted, noting Liam could be a big brother to Aly. Liam really loved that idea, too. At Forrester, Stephanie and Ridge were worried about Thorne, and Ridge mused that maybe Liam isn't a con man and this could all be very real. "Oh happy day," cracked Ridge of having a new family member. Back at the hospital, Hope was supportive of a nervous Liam, who was weighing "Dr. Evil" versus "Mr. Nice Guy." Then it was time for the blood tests...complete with more banter and snark. "There is no way you're my son!" Bill sniped as a skittish Liam had his blood drawn.

Tuesday

Stephanie and Ridge filled Eric in on Thorne possibly being Liam's father,
and they realized they just had to wait out the DNA tests. Stephanie dubbed
the whole thing a "scam," and Ridge said he tended to believe Liam. At the
hospital, Bill was barking at an employee on his Bluetooth, and Katie tried
to soothe Liam and Hope's concerns about the brusque Dollar Bill. A
glowering Bill insisted to Thorne that the "kid's got Forrester written all
over him." Thorne clearly looked forward to that outcome, and called his
family with an update. Nearby, Katie hung up Bill's phone, wondering if this
was really how he wanted to handle things. She brought up his own daddy
issues and asked him to "lay off Liam," who was no doubt having as tough a
time as he was. Nearby, Liam couldn't believe his mom would be with someone
like Bill, and Hope squeezed his hand, reassuringly, pointing out that maybe
his father wasn't Bill or Thorne.

At Forrester, Ridge vented to his parents about Brooke having to leave the
company, and Thomas' reaction to the whole thing. Stephanie wondered what
Thorne's potential son would do to their current drama with the press.
"Thorne is going to need all of us," Eric stressed. Thorne told the gang
that Dr. Steele would be coming back with the results soon, and a smug Bill
was certain that Thorne was leaving with a son. "Who's the daddy?" he
demanded. Dr. Steele that they were able to rule out one candidate pretty
quickly and explained the specifics of the testing process. "Thorne..." the
doctor said dramatically, getting Liam and Thorne's hopes up, "your DNA was
excluded." As for Bill, there was a 99% match. Bill was aghast, actually
struck dumb once the news sank in. Thorne said a bittersweet goodbye to Liam
and left. Katie gently pointed out that Kelly had named her son Liam, and
that he and Bill were both Williams, both Spencers. Liam wiped away tears,
just as rattled as Bill.

Wednesday

Thorne came into Ridge's office to break the news that he wasn't Liam's daddy. Stephanie winced, noting maybe Liam deserved their sympathy for winding up Bill's child. A bittersweet Thorne reminisced about Kelly, and Ridge wryly noted that he'd "never kissed anyone he didn't fall in love with." Poor Thorne talked about how adrift he'd been since Darla died and how, for a few hours, he'd felt like he had a renewed purpose. And he'd started looking forward to introducing Liam to Aly! Faced with the prospect of Bill being the kid's dad, he'd wanted to bring Liam home like he was a lost puppy and ask, "Mom, can we keep him?" Unfortunately, now, he felt like his time for raising a family was long over.

Oliver found Steffy hiding out and pouting over Thomas hating on her. Defeatist Steffy wondered if she should just chuck it all and hold on to the one thing that makes her happy. Meanwhile, Oliver pointed out that with Brooke gone, he was the remaining "other half of the scandal." He wanted to leave before he could be fired! He also told Steffy that he thinks he and Hope are doing okay.

At Spencer Publications, Katie popped champagne, while Bill went for something a little stronger. When he mocked Liam for not drinking, Liam acidly wondered if alcoholism was something he might've inherited from Bill. Bill returned fire by toasting "Cheers!" to his daddy search and saying he had to live with the consequences. Back at Spencer, Bill talked to Liam about his relationship with Kelly and insisted that he didn't abandon Liam. Kelly made the choice to raise him without Bill. Liam then told him his stepfather was a "nice man." Thunderstruck by the bland description, Bill asked for time alone with Liam...swearing that he wouldn't throw Liam out the window. Bill wanted to know what Kelly had told Liam about his biological father. In the hall, Hope wondered what she would do if she ran into Deacon. Inside, Bill assumed Kelly had sent Liam on a financial scavenger hunt. Shaken Liam talked about how Kelly was suffering from stage 4 breast cancer and so out of it that all she'd been able to do was give him the clippings...and tell him, "Handsome is as handsome does." A cryptic Bill interpreted that as Kelly's way of telling Liam she loved him. He then asked what Liam had asked his mother about his biological father, angry about how Liam hadn't tried harder to find him. Liam lashed out, noting that finding a man like Bill wasn't exactly an ideal. They snarked some more, with Bill wondering if Liam wanted an allowance and a bed time story. When Liam hauled off and punched Bill, he marveled, "Maybe you could be a Spencer after all."

Thursday

Up at Big Bear, Stephanie and Bridget had a heart to heart about Bridget's life. Bridget confessed that Owen is her baby's father. When she gave Stephanie the opportunity to compare her to Brooke, Stephanie assured her she's just worried about her and was sad that Bridget thinks she's so judgmental. Back in LA, Jackie and Owen got all smoochy, but when Owen heard Bridget (suddenly near her due date) was up at the cabin, he got worried. Amber bounced in with some new designs that needed to be sent to the pattern people ASAP. Owen offered to run them up to the cabin for Bridget's approval. Back at the cabin, Bridget shocked Stephanie a second time by talking about how she, Jackie and Owen were all going to raise the baby together. Then, Owen arrived with the designs and Stephanie left for L.A. Owen and Bridget talked about Amber's talent (and Bridget dismissed their "ancient history" rather than admitting Amber was her babysitter) and then moved on to discussing their situation. Back at Jackie M, Stephanie confronted Jackie about the whole thing and raised an eyebrow at Jackie referring to "our baby." At Big Bear, Owen didn't want to leave Bridget alone. Bridget told him about being delivered at this very cabin by Ridge and thanked him for being there. Then, she went into labor!

At Forrester, Ridge talked to Hope about Brooke's leave of absence from the company, and assured her that it wasn't all Steffy's doing. Ridge urged Hope to give Brooke another chance. Elsewhere, the Logan sisters had a bonding night and Katie revealed Liam is Bill's son. Later, Ridge came home to Brooke and told her about his chat with Hope, and Brooke talked about how much she missed her daughter.

Friday

At Brooke and Ridge's, he'd set up a "very special dinner" for her. They
cuddled and Brooke tried to put Hope's anger out of her mind...to no avail.
Ridge poured her some wine, hoping he could make her smile, but Brooke
feared Hope would never forgive her. Then, the doorbell rang...and to Ridge's surprise, Hope, walked in! Hope gently talked about all the crazy things Brooke does and how Ridge accepts Brooke as is. Hope got it now. "I've really missed you, Mom," she admitted. They shared a few wry laughs and a few tears, and Hope asked if she could move back home!

At Jackie M, Stephanie continued to boggle at Jackie's casual attitude about Owen and the baby. Jackie was grinning about being a "stepmother," and dismissing Owen's feelings for Bridget as loving her "in a different way."
She urged Stephanie not to be "provincial." "Honey, this is weird,"
Stephanie told her. Jackie insisted there was no romance between Owen and
Bridget, claiming the baby would have a father and two mothers. Stephanie
tried to point out all the "hippie" nature of this arrangement and how
"eventually, you'll lose something." Jackie was convinced everything would
work out. At Big Bear, Owen wanted to get Bridget to the hospital, but her
contractions were too powerful and too close together. Owen had to help her deliver... it was a boy! When the baby was silent, Bridget began to panic and sob. Moments later, the little guy begin to scream, and they laughed in relief. Bridget was moved by the whole experience, by how Owen had given her something she'd wanted for so long, and they shared a kiss.
