Bold and Beautiful Recaps

B&B Week of March 2, 2009

Monday

Rick and Steffy got all smoochy and romantic at the beach house, joking
about being interrupted by Ridge. Rick called his mom to make sure that
wouldn't happen. "You and I are in the clear," he then told Steffy. And
without a Stephanie lurking about the house, they were "good to go." Cue
more smooching and a stroll towards Rick's bedroom — where there were
dozens of candles already lit. Holy fire hazard, Rick! "I love you, and I
want to make love to you," he said, hoping to inflame Steffy's passions —
and succeeding in doing so. The duo kissed tenderly and then Rick carried
Steffy to the rose petal strewn bed.

Ridge and Brooke talked about Ridge's inability to accept her son and it was
clear they were at an impasse. "He's conned you, Logan, and now he's conning
Steffy," Ridge insisted. And he was feeling some serious "despair and hate"
for the guy to boot! "You have to get past this," Brooke urged, suggesting
they try therapy. "Open your heart to me. Help me help my son." Ridge
refused to budge. He loved Brooke with all his heart, but that love was
twisted up in his hate. And he didn't want Rick anywhere near Steffy. Later,
Ridge tossed and turned and softly swore he'd do anything to protect his
daughter.

As Donna and Marcus looked on, Thorne went nuclear about not being
president. Eric tried to explain, but Pam weighed in about Rick stealing the
presidency, too. Eric demanded everyone treat Rick with respect or "you'll
say nothing." He was sick of all the whining! Alone, Thorne, Marcus, Owen
and Pam were still mighty peeved. As Pam crocheted away, everyone vented
about Rick's machinations. Thorne asked if anyone wanted to get a drink. No
dice. The disgruntled gang went their separate ways. Elsewhere, Donna warned
Eric about Pam.

Tuesday

Rick and Steffy made love at the beach house and then lingered
in the afterglow. Afterwards, they smooched on the porch. "I'm not giving up
hope on us," Steffy promised before leaping into Rick's arms for one last
round of kissing and then leaving. Safely home at Taylor's Steffy was all
giddy and squeeful about being in love. She called Rick to tell him, again,
that she loves him

Ridge, clad in black, called Taylor from the foyer and learned that Steffy
wasn't home. He then let himself out. Brooke awoke alone and went looking
for him. Alarmed, she called Rick, hoping Ridge wasn't on his way over
there. "Where are you, Ridge? Where did you go?" she mused as a mysterious
figure headed to the beach house. Said figure doused the porch and door in
kerosene and lit a match! Elsewhere, Pam rushed back to her desk and took a message for Marcus, who
seemed distracted and said something about being on a "dinner break."
Coincidentally, Thorne had been out, too. He caught up with Jake, scowling,
"Sooner or later Little Ricky's going to get burned."

When the smoke detector went off, Rick rushed out with the fire extinguisher and a hose and
put out the not-so towering inferno. Meanwhile, Steffy had a smokin'
flashback of their sexcapades just as Taylor came downstairs. Rick called
the fire brigade, who found an empty can of charcoal lighter fluid. Gee, did
Rick have any enemies? "If I were you, I'd be on guard," a fireman warned.
Steffy told her mom to step off about Rick while a furious Rick barged into
Brooke's house and told his mom Ridge had set fire to his house. "I know he
did!" he insisted to a shocked Brooke, who clearly wondered if Ridge
was guilty.

Back at Brooke's,
Ridge finally came home — smelling like gas. Ridge trumped up excuses,
claiming he'd gone to the beach house but turned back. Back at Forrester,
Marcus vented about Rick to a sympathetic Pam. "I'd sure love to see him go
down flames," he raged.

Wednesday

Charlie and Lt. Baker looked around Rick's porch. A panicked Steffy
ignored the caution tape and demanded to know what happened and if Rick was
okay. "We think it was intentional," Charlie told her of the fire. When the
Bakers pressed her for suspects, she was clearly thinking of her dad. Later,
Charlie brought his dad a hot dog and they noted that, given his part in
Phoebe's death, the list of who would want to off Rick was pretty long. Lt.
Baker called Brooke to check in and revealed that the fire was
"premeditated" and "an act of passion." In fact, someone just driving by
could've stopped and done it.

Brooke angsted over the possibility that Ridge set fire to Rick's house,
nearly jumping out of her skin when Ridge came in. Ridge was curiously
unsympathetic to hear of Little Ricky's misfortune and wondered if Brooke
thought he did it. No, of course she believed her hubby! Rick came
downstairs and flipped! The bantery insults flew fast and furious as Brooke
looked on and then Ridge went off to work. "Ridge is out to get me," Rick
insisted to Brooke. As they hashed things out, Steffy pounded on the door
and then leapt on her boyfriend in relief. Brooke, no dummy, immediately
realized they'd spent the night doin' the deed. She hit the roof, making
sure to note the effect of their sexcapades on her marriage. Rick said Ridge
would just have to live with it. "I can't be Daddy's Little Girl forever,"
echoed Steffy. Brooke pointed out that Rick was a target. How much more
danger did he want to be in? Rick shrugged that Ridge probably already knew,
seeing as he set the fire! After her call with Lt. Baker, Brooke's
suspicions of Ridge continued to mount, but she didn't share them with an
outraged Rick.

Stephanie woke a groggy Thorne, who'd passed out in his office. Donna walked
in after a call with Eric and told them what had happened to Rick's house.
Owen and Marcus were right behind her and no one was particularly pleased to
hear Rick had survived unscathed. Cue a bitch session about how Rick had
done them all wrong and speculation that someone might try to off Rick
again. Alone with Donna, Marcus wished that Steffy could see Rick for who he
really is. Donna cautioned him against venting too explicitly because
someone could be listening. "'Suspect.' Does that word ring a bell?" she
asked, urging him not to volunteer anything to the cops. Nearby, Stephanie
sobered Thorne up with tea and got her rant on. Then, Ridge told Stephanie
Rick thought he set the fire. Stephanie, noting Rick's Machiavellian
tendencies, bet $50 that Rick set the fire himself. "It's so sick, but very
possible," sighed Ridge.

Thursday

Marcus glowered from the Sky Lounge as Rick pulled into the parking lot below. He alerted Ridge of "Mister Big Shot"'s arrival. Ridge told all the other gathered Forrester employees. Then, Rick appeared. Aunts Katie and Donna ran to his side, and Brooke told everyone what Lt. Baker had found and asked everyone to keep their eyes and ears open for whoever had done this to her son. Ridge moved the topic to their new line and then walked off. Left with Thorne, Pam, Marcus, and Owen, Rick fired Owen and Pam! They were not pleased. Alone, Pam crocheted away and they all kvetched. Donna asked Brooke to get a hold of her son. Brooke then pointed out Donna's son had motive to burn down the beach house. Both mothers defended their boys. Meanwhile, Marcus confronted Rick about the firings. "It's all gonna blow up in your face," he warned. Then, Pam vented to Stephanie and Donna walked up to snipe and the Bakers questioned Marcus. Donna showed up in time to speak up for her son. When it came time for Owen to visit Rick, he made pointed comments about a "barbecue on the beach." He murmured that Rick's power trip was "gonna explode."

At Taylor's, she and Steffy went a few rounds about the fire at Rick's, and Taylor asked Steffy if she and Rick had slept together. Taylor knew the answer without Steffy answering! "Rick loves me, and he's not going to hurt me," Steffy insisted, before saying that Rick suspected Ridge of setting the fire. Taylor went off, telling her that the family would never accept the relationship and they had to tell Ridge that it had gotten sexual.

Stephanie and Ridge caught up with the Bakers, and Stephanie was confident their investigation would point to Rick having set the fire himself. Alone, Stephanie turned her ire on Brooke's pro-Rick bias. Brooke walked in on it and booted Stephanie out. Steph left with a warning that Steffy wasn't safe. Brooke then boggled at the theory that Rick set the fire himself. Ridge joined her, and the topic turned to Steffy. Brooke pointed out they couldn't stop their kids anymore than Stephanie could have stopped them. Ridge disagreed. "Rick has problems and he needs help, but he's in danger now," pointed out Brooke. "I have to support my son." Ridge wondered if this was the "one obstacle we can't get beyond." Ridge reiterated that Rick is "severely messed up," and said he'd take Steffy halfway around the world before he let them be together. And sex? If he discovered "that man" had been "violating" his daughter, there'd be hell to pay. Of course, that's exactly when Taylor called with news...

Friday

Donna was continuing to defend Marcus to the Bakers, when Charlie found a box of matches on his desk. Marcus said they were for birthday parties and any smoker could've left them there. Donna urged him to stay silent while she called a lawyer. Marcus insisted he was telling the Bakers the truth.
Rick was surprised to see Pam still around Forrester. Pam said Stephanie told her she'd be making crocheted purses. Snooty Rick gave her his car keys so she could "fetch" a file from his car. Nearby, Owen had an armful of boxes. He dropped a thank you card for Eric off with Thorne. Steffy walked in on them griping about Rick. "You got fired. That sucks. Stuff happens," she huffed at Owen, before saying she was staying on at Forrester and she and Rick were together. So there. Nyah. Thorne winced and Owen cracked, "Watch your back, cutie." Steffy kept defending her man. "Tell your boyfriend if he wants to feel safe, he's in the wrong building," warned Uncle Thorne. Steffy stormed out and nearly collided with Pam. When she went looking for Rick, he was nowhere to be found. She flashed back on their candlelit, fire hazard lovemaking with a dreamy grin and then went down to the parking lot looking for him.
Taylor visited Ridge at work to drop the bombshell of Steffy and Rick's sexcapades. Ridge didn't take the news well. "He violated our daughter?" he cried. "I'm done playing games with that guy!" Elsewhere, Brooke warned Rick (too late!) that Ridge could never find out. Rick thought it was ridiculous to keep playing by Ridge's rules. "Bring it on," he said of the inevitable confrontation. Brooke begged him to stay away from Ridge and Steffy. When she went to find Ridge, she encountered Taylor and realized Taylor had spilled the sex. "Oh dear God," she gasped, panicking. As she and Taylor got into it about their kids, Rick called Ridge to meet him at the Sky Lounge to try and "reason" with him. "She loves me, and there's nothing you can do about it," noted Rick, asking Ridge to accept it. (Jake caught part of this tense chat and ran to tell Brooke.) He went so far as to "ask for your daughter's hand in marriage." Ridge scoffed, as Rick insisted he was trying to do this "respectfully." Rick drew the comparison of Ridge and Brook vs. Stephanie. Ridge revealed he knew about the sex and dubbed this speech "another one of your cons." He stonily assured Rick he didn't have his blessing and would "never have Steffy. This is over." Ridge warned him that he has no idea "what I'm capable of." It was Rick's turn to scoff. If Ridge killed him, Steffy would never forgive him. Rick said he was finished feeling guilty and made to go back to work. Ridge emphatically told him "to go get in your car and leave. Right now." (FYI, Rick's car was mentioned several times in the episode by different people.) As Brooke caught up with Ridge at the Sky Lounge and they glanced down, Rick told Steffy he loves her and went to his car. It promptly exploded!
