Bold and Beautiful Recaps

B&B Week of October 12, 2009

Monday

Katie was shaken by the revelation that Bill Sr.'s dying wish was that his son crush Eric Forrester and take possession of his company. Bill assured her he wasn’t using her, and that he wants her more than he wants Forrester. "I love you," he declared, adding that he doesn't use that word easily. They began kissing passionately. Katie apologized for having doubted him.

After saving Steffy's life on the boat, Owen wrapped her in a towel. "You are okay, that's all that matters," he said. Steffy felt bad, since she had promised him a relaxing boat ride. Owen offered to take her home but Steffy said her mom was coming to pick her up. Steffy thanked Owen for saving her life with a big hug, then Taylor arrived to check Steffy's head.

Nick asked Jackie what was going on with Owen, since he was supposed to be back at the office. "You don't want to know about my love life," Jackie sighed, explaining that her past still bothers Owen. Nick tried to make his mom feel better. "He'll get this figured out eventually," Nick said kindly. Jackie shared that Steffy was interfering a bit. Nick couldn't believe it. "She's a kid," he exclaimed, attributing her behavior to a crush. Owen rushed into the office, but had forgotten to retrieve Bridget's designs from Nick's boat. Realizing that Owen and Steffy had taken a joy ride without his permission, Nick demanded to know what was going on. Owen assured him he loves Jackie. Nick left when his mother arrived. Owen told Jackie about being with Steffy, and about her accident. "I guessed I saved her life," he marveled, as Jackie teared up at the thought that Owen was drawn to her young rival. Instead, Owen explained the experience reminded him of how precious life is, and allowed him to put Jackie’s past behind him. "I don't want to judge you," he said tenderly, then asked her for her forgiveness. Jackie took his hand. "Yes," she said as the two began to kiss.

Tuesday

Whip and Nick talked about Stephanie's odd behavior while, in her office, Stephanie struggled to fill out some forms. Pam offered to help her and Steph just felt defeated. Pam tried to buoy her sister up and suggested that Stephanie tell the truth about her condition. Steph refused to let anyone see her weakness but she was scared. Pam tried to comfort her, and make her laugh...and, again, convince her to lean on her friends. That's when Nick
and Whip appeared, wanting to talk. Stephanie told them it was time to put all her cards on the table. She apologized for her outburst of a few days prior and then told them she was quitting! Nick, Whip and Pam were aghast. Stephanie thanked Nick for helping her, for rescuing her, and said she'd accomplished what she'd wanted to at Jackie M. Nick demanded to know why she was leaving something they'd built together. She said that it was just a
"chapter" in her life.

At Il Giardino, Steffy caught Thomas up on her high seas adventure and Owen's heroics. No dummy, her brother realized she had a crush! Steffy claimed she respected Owen's marriage...or at least the institution. She just didn't think Owen/Jackie would last! Thomas warned his sis to be careful. Meanwhile, Jackie came home to an apron-clad Owen, who was planning a romantic dinner. Jackie didn't need a dinner, she just needed her hubby! Owen went back to chopping and puttering and Jackie gently broached the topic of Steffy's hero worship. He assured Jackie she has nothing to worry about and she said he was remarkable and had earned her respect. They canoodled and cuddled and then a rep from a surrogacy agency dropped by. Owen had completely forgotten the appointment! He urged Jackie to just explore their options. As the agency rep outlined everything, Jackie was less than enthused. Once alone, she noted it seemed like Owen had all but decided to go for surrogacy. Jackie, however, wasn't quite as gung ho. She told Owen that she just cannot raise another child!

Wednesday

Owen admitted to Jackie that he was confused by her reaction to the surrogacy option. He said that he thought they had agreed they wanted children. Jackie said she was excited about the life they had together, and she was afraid caring for a child would come between them. "Why can't you accept that I don't want a baby?" she asked. Owen claimed that diaper changes and midnight feedings didn't have to interfere; he would take responsibility for all the "heavy lifting." Jackie countered that she just couldn't picture a future for them with a baby in it. After Owen left, Jackie picked up the surrogacy brochure and began browsing through it. Over lunch, Owen admitted to Steffy that he was disappointed about Jackie's reaction to his wanting children. He told Steffy that he loved Jackie, but was sad his dream of fatherhood would never being realized.

At Jackie M., Stephanie continued to say her goodbyes to Nick and Whip. They were stunned that she was quitting. Whip reached out to shake her hand, but she couldn't raise her right arm. Instead, she grabbed him with her left and pulled him into a hug. As she was leaving, she told Nick that she would never forget that he had thrown her a lifeline when she had really needed it. Outside the door, she collapsed in tears in Pam's arms. A confused Nick swore to Whip that he would get to the bottom of Stephanie's behavior. Nick went to Jackie's condo to announce that there was a problem with Stephanie. Jackie couldn't believe Stephanie had quit. "Something is going on with that old broad," Nick stated, "and I'm going to find out what it is." Nick and Jackie admitted that Stephanie had become much more than just a co-worker to them.

At home, Thomas and Taylor discussed Steffy's attraction to Owen. Taylor worried that Steffy was waiting around for Owen's marriage to fall apart. Thomas was convinced that Steffy would not get involved with a married man. Thomas left, and Stephanie and Pam arrived to fill Taylor in on what had happened at Jackie M. After Taylor asked to be alone with Stephanie, Stephanie begged Taylor not to try to change her mind about quitting work. Taylor agreed, but wondered about her plans for the future. "What is it you think you are going to move on to?" she asked. Taylor was concerned about Stephanie isolating herself, like many stroke patients do. She begged Stephanie to accept help from the people who love her. Stephanie countered that she was not running, but that instead she was just tired ... tired of pouring herself into her family and her business. "I want to bow out gracefully, on my own terms," she explained. Taylor asked Stephanie to remember back a few months when Taylor was suffering the loss of her daughter. "I didn't give up then, and I won't let you now," she said. "Please don't push me away," she begged. Tearfully, the two proclaimed their love for each other and hugged.

Thursday

Donna was stunned to learn that Bill had bought the beach house.
"Bill Spencer has shown his true colors," Brooke said. Donna was further shocked when she learned Katie had moved in with him. Donna and Brooke told Ridge the only way they would be getting out of Forrester's slump would be by "selling Forrester designs." Brooke and Donna headed for the beach house to "save our sister."

When Katie and Bill woke up in the beach, Katie assured him that
last night's issue was resolved, but she couldn't take her eyes off of Bill Sr.'s DVD. She asked Bill Jr. if he hated the Forresters as much as his father did. Bill explained that his father had been in love with Stephanie. "I am not," he said flatly. Bill and Katie started kissing. Bill left and Katie watched the DVD again. Donna and Brooke appeared at the door and watched the DVD over Katie's shoulder, and heard Bill Sr. tell Bill Jr. to destroy Brooke and Donna. When a startled Katie accused Brooke and Donna of spying on her, they tried to convince her that Bill was using her. "I believe him when he says he loves me. Please don't make me choose," Katie implored.

Stephanie told Taylor she was moving out and wanted to start a new life. Jackie cornered Stephanie and asked why Stephanie had resigned behind her back. Stephanie explained she had accomplished everything she could at Jackie M, but Jackie didn't buy it. She offered her a new title, then offered to change the label to J & S! "You'd do that for me?" Stephanie marveled. Jackie suggested that if Stephanie wouldn't return now, she could take a leave and then come back, adding that Stephanie was her only woman friend. "I can't," Stephanie insisted, and went to get the rest of her luggage. Taylor told Jackie that Stephanie had loved being at Jackie M, then hinted that Stephanie was afraid. "Of what?" Jackie wondered. Taylor couldn't say anything else. "Oh my god, she's ill," Jackie panicked. "She had a stroke," Taylor reluctantly confided. Jackie said it all started to make sense. "She feels like it's the beginning of the end," Jackie surmised. Stephanie overheard Taylor explaining the situation to and looked exasperated.

Friday

Donna and Brooke assured Katie that they don't want to force her to choose between her family and Bill but Donna noted that Bill Senior's DVD is a "call to war." Katie insisted she's loyal to her sisters but Donna said Bill's trying to steal both her and the company. Katie claimed Bill was trying to help Forrester survive and asked her sisters to love and respect her. Katie pointed out that if Bill were really out for revenge, they'd all be out on their rears. She cared deeply for this man and wanted Donna and Brooke to give him a chance. Ridge assured Michael that he'd get the full quarter's payment of $25 million and hung up...just as Bill sauntered in. The two men traded barbs as Bill noted he and Ridge might be family one day. When Ridge doubted Bill's commitment to Katie, he noted Ridge's multiple marriages to Brooke. "I'm trying to save your sinking ship," he added before seeing himself out. Back at the beach house, Katie's sisters were stilltrying to get through to her but she stood firm. Bill walked in on the tense confab. Brooke said Bill was done using Katie and insisted Katie tell him it's over and she's coming home with them.

As Whip, Bridget, Nick and Owen tried to figure out how they'd deal with Stephanie leaving, Jackie came in with a bombshell. She told them Steph had resigned because of her stroke. When Nick questioned Pam about staying quiet, she noted her sister is a very proud woman. As the gang realized why Stephanie had stayed silent, Nick got a brilliant idea to make Steph realize how much she is valued. At Taylor's, she hovered over a defensive Stephanie, who was getting ready to leave. And then Nick and the gang showed up in sports-themed outfits (Bridget and Jackie were a cheerleaders, Pam a referee, Owen a football player), cheering their appreciation for Stephanie. They insisted they love their team and their fearless leader and revealed they were all wearing "Team Stephanie" t-shirts. Stephanie was touched but still wary. Clown-wigged Whip took her hand and said they pledged to help her recover. Everyone else echoed the sentiment. "Are we Jackie M? Yes we are. More than that, we're family," stressed Nick. "And this family just seems incomplete without you." Then, they launched into their cheer again. Stephanie tried to convince them that her recovery was a months-long process and bow out gracefully, but they would have none of it! Stephanie thanked them for their kindness and generosity, begrudgingly saying, "You want me to be the leader of the pack, who the hell am I to say no?" The team was ecstatic but demanded she do the cheer with them. When she complied, Nick hugged her!
