Bold and Beautiful Recaps
B&B Week of September 27, 2010
Monday
Brooke was alarmed and Stephanie a little more contemplative as Dr. Lewis suggested Stephanie undergo an MRI and see the staff oncologist. Dr. Lewis specified that she suspects Stephanie has lung cancer. Brooke offered up
alternate suggestions like scarring from her bullet wound or an infection.
Dr. Lewis said they'd done tests to rule all of that out and explained that
it was entirely possible to develop lung cancer when you don't smoke. Later,
the oncologist arrived and talked about how Stephanie's cancer was
incredibly advanced. "What are my chances?" she asked. The doctors suggested
chemo and surgery, but admitted that she had 6 to 8 months to live
with treatment. Brooke asked them to go and then apologized profusely
to Stephanie for thinking she was faking. When she offered to break the news
to the family, Stephanie told her not to tell a soul. "This is my business,"
she stressed.
At Forrester, Eric picked Ridge's brain about celebrating Stephanie's
upcoming birthday. Ridge pointed out that his parents hadn't been over to
his house since he's been married to Brooke. They talked about the
never-ending drama between their wives. Later, Brooke showed up at the
office and mentioned Stephanie dropping by the house earlier. Ridge, working
late, turned down getting takeout with Brooke, but mused about his mother's
visit. He hoped Brooke and Stephanie could work on their relationship. "I
don't need her to like me," Brooke assured, noting that she and Stephanie
were connected in a lot of important ways. She waxed philosophical to Ridge
about life and taking things at face value. "Something's worrying you,"
Ridge surmised. Brooke said she wished she could go back to their beginning
and start over. "I think you're a victim of low blood sugar," Ridge cracked.
Meanwhile, Stephanie arrived home, fixing her face and her lipstick and
preparing herself to see Eric. She studied all the family photos and then
Eric came in, blustering about how he'd been forced to make his own (subpar)
martini. Stephanie said cryptically poetic things about the room and always
being there in some way. They bantered fondly and Stephanie seemed to be on
the verge of telling him something.
Tuesday
Stephanie seemed on the verge of telling Eric about her cancer while, at Forrester, Brooke evaded Ridge's questions about what was wrong. Stephanie ended up telling Eric she wants to have a birthday party at the house. She wanted it to be "just the kids, the grandkids, just here in our home." They reminisced about their early days in the house and joked about how they'd finally put their rocky moments behind them. Brooke walked in on them embracing and Eric rushed off to make birthday party plans. "You didn't tell Eric that you have cancer?" Brooke then boggled to Stephanie. She mentioned Kristen and Felicia being there for their mother and, again, stressed that Stephanie needs to share all this with her family. Stephanie was just not having it! Then, she made a call about something for her party and Brooke was even more shocked, wondering if she was planning her funeral. No! She was planning a birthday party for herself! Stephanie warned Brooke not to shed "crocodile tears." She didn't want her birthday to be a "pity party." Brooke kept trying to reach out, offering to be her "sounding board." Stephanie marveled at how Brooke loves a crisis and urged her to go help Bridget instead. Brooke refused to budge, even when Stephanie wanted her to go. She urged Stephanie to get mad, to fight, instead of giving in to apathy. "You can beat the odds," she urged. Stephanie countered with, "There's one thing that I have never been able to accomplish in my life...getting rid of you." They kept going in that vein, as Stephanie said all she wanted to do was focus on having a memorable birthday. "I'm trying to protect them," she said of her family. Brooke accused her of being "selfish to the bitter end."
At Forrester, Chinese food cartons littered the conference table as Ridge, Steffy, Marcus, Thomas and Thorne discussed pepping up the Bedroom line. When the topic turned to using some male models to admire the ladies, everyone ended up suggesting Ridge as the face and bod of the line. In response to all the teasing, Ridge obligingly took off his shirt. Eric walked in on the hilarity. As Ridge shrugged back into his shirt, Eric explained that Stephanie wants a family birthday party. Instantly worried, Thorne, Ridge and Thomas noted this didn't sound like Stephanie at all. Eric just shrugged it all off as the strange year Stephanie has had. Chowing down on Chinese takeout, the gang all agreed to help Eric with an unforgettable bash.
Wednesday
Brooke and Ridge got romantic, which nearly waylaid them heading to
Stephanie's birthday party. At the Forrester mansion, Stephanie got a call from Hope, who wanted to
bring Liam as her date. After getting the go ahead, Hope and Liam kissed and
cuddled and Liam apologized for what Bill did to Bridget at the fashion
show. When Hope asked Liam to come to Stephanie's with her, he panicked and
dubbed it like facing a "firing squad." Hope gave him a pep talk, and he
appreciated how she always looked at the "bright side of everything." At
Jackie M, Oliver told Nick and Aggie that he and Hope broke up and she was
seeing Liam now. Oliver said he was engaging in a "strategic retreat." Nick
boggled at the news that Liam is Bill's son. Oliver insisted that he and
Hope still love each other but he's just being patient now. Aggie and Nick
gave the lost soul some advice. Alone, they discussed Oliver's conundrum and
how anything was possible if you had faith.
Brooke called Stephanie, hoping she'd canceled the party and wondering if
she'd told her family about her cancer. Stephanie said she hadn't and told
her rival to keep her "lip zipped." Later, everyone converged at the
Forrester mansion and Stephanie welcomed Hope and a nervous Liam. They then
chatted with Eric and Pam. Nearby, Brooke was overly solicitous with
Stephanie and very sorry to hear that Kristen and Felicia couldn't make it.
Stephanie warned her that she wants to see "nothing but smiling faces."
Later, Brooke found Stephanie contemplating the distance from the staircase
landing to the floor, and Stephanie told her to quit making "dewy eyes"
before everyone got suspicious. Annoyed by all of Brooke's admonishments,
she wondered, "Who appointed you hall monitor?" Later, Taylor and Pam
confronted Stephanie about letting Liam come to the party, and they were
shocked that she's not holding a grudge. "It's my birthday...the only thing
I want to hold is a martini!" she said, before giving a little speech to
everyone about finding joy and happiness in the way things are. Then, it
seemed like she was going to make a big announcement...
Thursday
At the Forrester mansion, Stephanie finished up her speech to everyone, notably without revealing her condition, and then her surprise arrived! With a big ol' grin, she ushered in the men to set up a slide from the balcony into the living room! As Liam apologized to Brooke for what Bill did at the fashion show, Ridge went up to be the first one down the slide. Then, Steffy and Pam each took a turn. A pensive Brooke watched the joyous revelry. Marcus went plummeting down the slide and Pam urged her big sis to take a turn. So did the kids. As everyone cheered her name, she and Brooke shared a look. Then, Stephanie went down the slide and, at the bottom, hugged all her loved ones. "Where's my martini?" she laughed. Amid all the joyous banter, Stephanie said there wouldn't be a party next year: "This is the birthday party to end all birthday parties," she declared. "You outdid yourself," praised Eric, as Stephanie beamed that everybody was running around like little children. Brooke then caught up with her mother-in-law, wondering why she was being so selfish and still keeping the truth of her cancer from her family. Stephanie talked about how her mother's death had made her sit down and think about her own mortality. The only thing she hadn't prepared for? Brooke being involved! "I can't even have cancer without you," she sighed, asking Brooke to "just stay out of it."
At Jackie M, Nick and Aggie were adorable and couple-y in Nick's office. Then, Nick admitted he's worried about Bridget and the baby getting "tossed around pretty good" by the storms the company was trying to weather. Aggie praised how caring he is. "You can say anything to me...or we don't have to say anything at all," she said. They recognized the trust and emotion between them, and Nick emphatically shut and locked the office door. They got amorous. Curled up together afterwards, Aggie talked about how much being with Nick meant to her after everything she'd been through.
Friday
Brooke read the latest, scandal-filled issue of Eye on Fashion as Ridge joined her in bed. They sighed over Bridget's predicament, before Brooke's thoughts turned to the secret she's keeping for Stephanie. "My mother is confiding in you?" boggled Ridge. "She's actually considering you a friend?" "Hardly," sighed Brooke, who hated keeping things from Ridge. Ridge hoped his mom would eventually fill him in, liking that Stephanie was trusting his wife. At the Forrester mansion, Stephanie mulled over her cancer on the terrace and Eric joined her. Stephanie wrote off her pensiveness as worry about Bridget and Jackie. Eric liked this "new change" in her behavior. "It's never too late to change," she said. Later, Brooke came over to keep Stephanie company and drive her to the doctor. They bantered as usual, and Stephanie warned Brooke away from touching her mother's red scarf and told her she'd canceled her doctor's appointment. Eric found Ridge and Thomas looking at designs at the office. Ridge told his father and his son that he thinks Stephanie is "starting to appreciate Brooke." When Stephanie took a quick call from Felicia and Brooke found her bucket list! "This is a bad idea!" Brooke declared. "Why don't you just focus on getting better?" Stephanie said she was "tired of fighting." She didn't want surgery, chemo or radiation. Brooke was stunned. "Don't do this your family!" she begged. "Don't do this to me!" Frustrated Stephanie reminded "dingbat" Brooke that she's supposed to hate her and the day Stephanie dies should be the happiest die of her life. She then stressed that she doesn't want to fight and "if I die, I die." Brooke made her take her hand, insisting, "We are in this together" and "I am not letting you leave us."
At Bridget's, she opened the door to a tea-bearing Rick. Rick wanted to update her on his progress with Jackie. As she huffed, Rick raved about the "spark" he feels with Jackie and how long he's been alone. Bridget accused Rick of having a rescue complex, citing Taylor and her drinking and Steffy and her grief over Phoebe. Rick denied that's what was going on and then showed up at Jackie M to flirt shamelessly with his object of pursuit. Rick continued to make his case to Jackie, talking about how Logan was Owen's first priority now. At Bridget's, Owen told her to stay off the Jackie M message board, but they ended up reading posts from people saying they should be together because they have a child now. Bridget thought the posters kind of had a point. Owen promised her they'd figure things out and their family would work. Back at the office, Rick was suggesting he and Jackie jaunt off to Paris, and he was overwhelming her with his whirlwind plans. She admired his spontaneity, but refused to go away with him. Rick changed tactics, whipping out a ring and saying, "Marry me!"
