SoapOperaNetwork released the latest ratings and GL got a 1.4 - That is another record low rating for GL!

So last night I was thinking about how this show can be save? Yes, it can be save!

I was thinking that Digest need to run a story about saving this show. Digest really needs to do this. It is unfortunate that Ellen Wheeler and her team keeps running this show into the grave. Very unfortunate! This show is over 70 years old and I would like to see it on air for atleast 100 years. It can happen!

I love this genre too much and I disagree with those who say the genre is dying and so on. Daytime need to get its act together now before its too late. It is already late but the damage can be reverse.

We all know GL will be canceled. There is no more another year for GL - None, nada! It's going off the air with all these record low ratings. Ellen Wheeler needs to fire that writing team if she has to. Employee people who can actually write an interesting story.

I know SOD plays nice with everyone so they can get scoops and whatever but its time to lay the smackdown on some of these soaps, writers and execs. We already lost Passions; GL is next followed by Days and ATWT. With soaps gone, SOD won't even exist. I believe if SOD print an article about saving GL someone at CBS will actually listen. Make it your cover story. SAVE GL - FIRE ELLEN WHEELER AND HER WRITERS? Ed Scott would be a good EP to replace Wheeler. That man is too talented to be unemployed.

30 minutes - GL, ATWT, Days and AMC need to go back to being a 30 minute soap. They just need to. Look, when you have crappy writers, no one want to sit down and watch 1 hour of nonsense being dragged out. With 30 minutes, it will be good. I do believe more viewers will watch since it will be a half hour show. They will also save a lot of money. GL needs to save every penny that they can save. Same goes for you Days! GL also need a better time slot. A 30 minute show will get them a better time slot. I hate the 10 AM time slot here in NYC. That is way too early.

What do my fellow GL viewers think? Fire Ellen Wheeler? Fire the writer team? What? Let me know.

Fire the writing team. Hire Hogan Sheffer as head writer (loved his stuff on ATWT) and - just a thought - start accepting "fan scripts" like the Star Trek franchise did. It worked well for ST, and launched the careers of many who would most likely not have had the opportunity otherwise. Most of the stuff I read on these boards is way more interesting than what's being put on the air (and unlike most writers - we actually know the history). If the thought of "fan scripts" is too much, hire dialog writers and accept storyline suggestions from the fans. Reaching out to us (instead of ignoring what we have to say) would go A LONG WAY in pleasing fans and driving up ratings.

Something needs to be done. I agree, the show has been on way too long to let it go down the tubes. Is it just me or have they really been pushing products lately? The V-8 sales pitch yesterday made me shake my head. It sounded exactly like a commercial. And there was another one last week unfortunately I can't remember what for but...I don't ever recall them being so "commerical obvious" in the past. I am sure the actors feel pretty lame doing it too!

Gl needs to demote David or just get rid of him... he's had his shot at making things better and its been crap over and over. Ellen is doing her best with this show... atleast she wants to save it unlike some execs who don't give a flying crap about their own show.

I myself have poked fun at this trend on our Web site and newsletter, but product-placement is the wave of the future, brendinka, for daytime and prime time. And that's because the advertisers want it. They know people watch online or use DVRs to skip commercials, so they are looking for ways to get their products in front of your eyes when you cannot FF without missing actual program content. (The trick is to make you think Buzz praising vegetable juice is actual program content.)
