Carly was shaken up after losing a young patient. She left the hospital room and encountered Bo, who was following up on a case. She revealed she lost the patient he was interesting in interviewing. The mother of the teen was heartbroken to hear her child had died.
At the Horton house, Jennifer and Hope went through Alice's old scrapbooks. Theo and Ciara eavesdropped on their conversation; Ciara noted that as long as her parents were happy, she didn't have to run away. Hope told her cousin that looking through the books helped her and Bo remember their love story. Jennifer filled Hope in about her attempt to play matchmaker for Daniel and Carly. After, Hope took the kids to the hospital and ran into Bo. Ciara asked for a doll; Hope said no, but a distracted Bo gave his daughter the money for it. Hope was upset. Bo apologized for contradicting her. The Bradys worked it out, but Ciara misunderstood what happened and concluded that she had to run away or else her parents couldn't be together. Carly spied the Bradys looking so in love and got upset. She then gave Maxine some instructions about a patient. Nathan overheard Dr. Manning give the wrong medication dosage fand corrected her. After, he tried to talk to her, but she was on edge. Carly apologized for not going to his going-away party, but assured him that he was a great doctor and would do well at Johns Hopkins.
Carly visited Jen, who was sorry for trying to push her to be with Daniel. They made plans to dine at Chez Rouge later. Carly walked on the pier and spied Bo and Hope kissing. She hurried off. Back at the hospital, Carly took an unused syringe filled with a sedative from Maxine. Carly had memories of Lawrence and Bo and broke down in tears. She grabbed the syringe and injected herself.... Abe took Theo and Ciara to Java Caf. The kids discussed their plans to run away. Theo told his parents he loved them. Abe pulled Lexie aside and wondered what prompted Theo to say that.
Nathan and Jennifer shared a touching farewell. She gave him a photo of Tom and Alice. Before leaving, Nathan looked at it and said, "Well Dr. Horton, it's time for this Dr. Horton to say good-bye."
Nicole brought Fay to the hospital for some tests. Lexie asked Nicole how things were going at home with Fay and Taylor. Nicole revealed that things weren't good because of what was going on with Taylor and EJ. "You know?" asked an incredulous Lexie. Nicole noted that her hubby and sister hated each other, but wondered if that's what Lexie was talking about. Lexie tried to play it off, but Nicole pressed her to reveal what she knew. Lexie didn't feel comfortable.... Nicole and Fay were thrilled that her test results were positive. Fay said she admired her daughter for the way she turned her life around. Nicole said she was happy in her marriage and felt things could work out.
EJ stopped Taylor from leaving the mansion. He suggested they stop fighting their feelings for each other and pulled her into a passionate kiss. He implored her to admit that she wanted him; she did. They hurried into the living room and had a serious makeout session where clothes were removed. Taylor stopped when she spied EJ and Nicole's wedding photo. "We can't do this," she declared. He suggested they have an affair.

Rafe 2 tried to forced himself on Sami and she resisted. "I said no!" Sami insisted. Rafe 2 was disturbed by Sami's rejection. Sami and Rafe 2 argued over his reluctance to go on medication. Sami voiced that her feelings for Rafe had changed and she wasn't sure they would ever return again. Rafe 2's mind was stuck on the fact that Sami didn't want to have sex with him. Their argument escalated and it was agreed that Rafe 2 would spend the night on the sofa. Rafe 2 privately congratulated himself for his cruel behavior, while Sami went to her room and broke down in tears.
Nicole and Fay didn't understand why EJ and Taylor were locked in a room. While Nicole went to check on Sydney, Fay confronted EJ and Taylor. "What are you two doing in here with the door locked?" she inquired. Taylor and EJ covered, and EJ assured Fay that was welcome to move into the DiMera mansion. Alone with Taylor, Fay questioned what was going between her and EJ. "We rub each other the wrong way," Taylor stammered. Fay wondered if EJ was already cheating on Nicole. Elsewhere in the mansion, Nicole and EJ fussed over Sydney, Nicole smiled that she loved her life and thanked EJ for it. Nicole and EJ rejoined Taylor and Fay. Nicole tried to convince both Taylor and Fay to continue living the mansion. Taylor excused herself and was quickly followed by EJ. "Mom, for the first time in my life I have a real family and I love it!" Nicole enthused. EJ quietly met with Taylor and she expressed remorse about fibbing to her mother. EJ persisted on persuading Taylor to have a secret affair with him. Distraught, Taylor asserted that she was moving out. EJ followed Taylor up to her room and said that Nicole and Fay were expecting her for dinner. Taylor asked to be left alone.
Daniel and Jennifer nearly caught Carly injecting herself with a patient's drug. Carly pretended to be okay. While Daniel was alone with Carly, he pushed her to come clean about her emotional state. "I've had a crappy day," Carly admitted. She confided to Daniel that she lost a patient, a boy who reminded her of the son who wants nothing to do with her. Daniel asked if Carly's emotional problems were triggered by her breakup with Bo. "I felt safe with Bo," Carly explained. Daniel reminded Carly that she was one of the strongest women he has ever known. Later, while Carly was alone, she vowed she would never self-medicate again.
Jennifer revealed to Abigail that they were going to remain in Alice Horton's home. "This house has always seemed so hopeful for me," Jennifer shared. Abigail encouraged Jennifer to begin dating, but Jennifer wasn't interested. "I need to figure out who I am right now," Jennifer pointed out. The subject turned to Chad and Abigail said that she was troubled by his decision to move in with the DiMeras. "I've decided that I'm not going to hang out with him anymore," Abigail informed. Jennifer was relieved because she feared the DiMeras might negatively influence Chad. Abigail left to spend time with friends, and Daniel dropped by to see Jennifer. "I'm worried about Carly," Jennifer noted. Daniel agreed that he was also concerned for Carly. They resolved to look out for their friend. Daniel also accepted Jennifer's invitation to stay for dinner.
Chad remembered that it was his late mother's birthday. He visited the pier where she died and recalled their last big fight. Chad spoke to his late mother and shared the news that he was moving into the DiMera home. Abigail encountered Chad on the pier and could tell that he was upset. Chad said he was having a hard time because it was his mom's birthday. Abigail took Chad's hand and tried to comfort him.
Stefano warned Vivian that he was not amused that she was sticking her nose in his personal business. "There is something coming between you and Kate, and it has nothing to do with me," Vivian defended. She advised Stefano that the secret he was keeping from Kate would destroy their relationship. Stefano denied that he had a secret, but Vivian was skeptical. When Stefano left, it was clear that Vivian would continue snooping into his personal business, determined to find out something that she could use against Kate.

Stefano learned from EJ that Taylor refused his offer to have an affair. "I take it that her virtue is still intact?" Stefano smiled. EJ pointed out that his feelings for Taylor were sincere. "I guess I'll just have to wait," EJ commented.
After their fight the night before, Sami was disturbed to find Rafe 2 soundly sleeping on the sofa. Rafe 2 woke up and the troubles between them escalated. Sami stormed off to the bedroom and Rafe 2 commented to himself, "I'm enjoying this!" Nicole arrived with the children and Rafe 2 asked if she could watch them a little longer. Nicole sensed there was trouble between Rafe 2 and Sami and made a catty comment. Sami emerged from the bedroom and told Nicole to mind her own business. Johnny complained that he wanted to stay with Rafe. "I have to talk your mother off the ledge," Rafe 2 voiced. "She's on her crazy pills right now." Nicole quickly took the children away. Sami and Rafe 2 resumed arguing. Sami stormed off. Meanwhile, Rafe 2 phoned Stefano and said they needed to talk. Later, Kate visited, on the guise that she wanted to talk about Allie. After exchanging insults, Kate wondered if Rafe was the reason Sami was so tense. Sami confessed that there were serious problems in her marriage. Sami also revealed that she sent Allie to be with Lucas because her daughter was afraid of Rafe. Sami confided that her marriage to Rafe was probably finished.
Kate had a run in with Vivian. Kate warned Vivian to back off or Stefano would crush her. Later, Stefano crossed paths with Nicole and the children. Nicole commented that there was trouble between Sami and Rafe. Stefano asked Marco to watch the children and questioned Nicole about Sami and Rafe's argument. Meanwhile, Vivian lurked behind the bushes and eavesdropped. "Why the hell do you care if Sami and Rafe fight?" Nicole questioned. Stefano lied that he was troubled that they were fighting in front of the children. Stefano also reminded Nicole that she was married to his son because of a business agreement. Nicole protested that things were good between her and EJ. "Don't get too comfortable," Stefano advised and walked off. Vivian emerged from the shadows and remarked, "I think it's criminal the way your father in-law spoke to you." Vivian suggested they team up and go after Kate. Vivian offered to forgive Nicole for her role in the sarcophagus scheme. "Let's face it," Vivian purred. "You hate Kate as much as I do. So this could be a win-win for both of us."
Fay confronted Taylor about avoiding everyone at dinner last night. "It was pretty clear that you weren't sick and that you were just avoiding EJ," noted Fay. "Is there something going on between you and EJ?" Taylor denied it and cut off further questioning by claiming that she was late for work. After Taylor left, Fay quietly said, "You really think that you can fool your mother?" As Taylor rushed down the stairs she ran into EJ. He wanted to talk, but Taylor insisted she had to leave for work. Fay questioned EJ about his intentions toward her daughter and he was evasive. Fay commented that she had trouble sleeping last night and heard everything going on in the house. EJ kissed his mother-in-law on the cheek. "Get some rest," he smiled. EJ left, while Fay fumed. Fay vowed to protect Nicole.
Brady learned from Victor that he blocked one of his business deals. "You can't deal with the fact that I'm good at this job!" Brady charged. Victor noted that the deal would have cost several people their jobs. Maggie arrived and overheard them arguing. Brady accused Victor of changing his behavior only to impress Maggie. After Brady left, Maggie and Victor enjoyed a cup of coffee. Maggie complimented Victor for taking the high road and rewarded him with a kiss. Meanwhile, Brady vented to Taylor about his troubles with Victor and Taylor assured Brady that the business deal he tried to make was a good one.
Rafe 2 met with Stefano and boasted that Sami was close to giving up on him.

EJ led Taylor to an isolated, muddy area to discuss their attraction. "EJ, this has to be the last conversation that you and I have about our feelings," Taylor insisted. "I admire your integrity," EJ responded. "That's why I decided it's best if I respect your wishes and keep my distance... I will not pursue you anymore." EJ added that he has loved Taylor since the moment he first laid eyes on her. EJ instructed Taylor to leave, before he lost his resolve. Later, at the hospital, Taylor confided to Lexie that EJ's gesture only made her love him more than she already did. Taylor shared that she intended to leave Salem and later met with Nicole to break the news.
Nicole refused to help Vivian in her quest to bring down Kate. Vivian warned that once she was finished with Kate, Nicole would be next. Later, Gus met with Vivian with the security code to the DiMera mansion.
An agitated Fay pleaded with her nurse to contact Nicole and Taylor. The nurse encouraged Fay to take a sleeping pill. But when she was out of sight, Fay spit out the pill.
Imposter Rafe demanded a meeting with Stefano and EJ to brainstorm the final step to end his marriage to Sami. "I must admit, I'm going to miss your reports about Samantha," smiled Stefano. "You make me laugh." Rafe 2 warned that he could stop Stefano's laughter in a heartbeat. Stefano was angered by Rafe 2's threat. Later, Stefano and EJ met with imposter Rafe at the DiMera mansion. Rafe 2 boasted about his mistreatment of Sami, which irked EJ. "I am doing exactly what you want me to do," Rafe 2 pointed out, "which ain't easy." Stefano yelled for EJ and imposter Rafe to knock it off, and instructed Rafe 2 to influence Sami to leave town. "She has to think it was her idea," Stefano added. Imposter Rafe apologized to EJ. "I was out of line," he conceded. EJ accepted the apology and praised 2's false act, unaware that Fay was standing outside the door listening to their conversation.
Brady told Dario to leave Salem. Dario refused, determined to find out who killed his sister. Meanwhile, Melanie went to the Kirakis mansion for a visit with Parker. "You'll always be so special to me," Melanie murmured to the infant. "I loved you before you were even born." Overwhelmed with emotion, Melanie placed Parker in Philip's arms and tried to return his ring. When Philip refused, Melanie ran off. Later, she ran into Brady and he comforted her. Meanwhile, Dario overheard Justin and Philip discuss Melanie's five million dollar divorce settlement. After they left, Dario commented to himself, "Wow, Nurse Melanie is worth more than I thought!"

Fay overheard EJ and Stefano plotting with Rafe 2 and let out an involuntary gasp. "Someone's out there, in the foyer," Rafe 2 noted. When they went to check, Fay quickly hid. After they left, Fay emerged. Clearly worried for Nicole's safety, she phoned her daughter to issue an urgent alert. Rafe 2 came from behind and grabbed Fay's phone from her hand. "What the hell are you doing?" he asked. Fay denied that she heard anything, but Rafe 2 didn't believe her. A struggle ensued. Rafe 2 dragged Fay up the stairs and then shoved her. Fay fell to the floor, unconscious. When Nicole and Fay couldn't reach Fay again by phone, they quickly headed home to check on her. Elsewhere, EJ confided to Stefano his concern that the real Rafe could return. Stefano said it was time for his son to see the real Rafe. Marco proceeded to open a laptop and revealed video coverage of Rafe, who had no memory of his true identity.
Bo and Hope were alarmed when they learned that Ciara and Theo were missing from school. They were relieved when the children were found and brought to the police station. At first, Hope and Bo disagreed about how to handle the situation. However, they talked it through and agreed to act as a united front, for their daughter's sake. Ciara observed their discussion and thought they were fighting. "Mommy and daddy are always sad because of me," Ciara told Theo. "That's why I have to run away... Mommy and Daddy can't be happy until I'm gone."
Chloe misunderstood when she walked into Java Cafe and saw Brady comforting Melanie. After Melanie departed, Chloe accused Brady of being sleazy for moving in on Philip's soon-to-be-ex. Brady was offended by the accusation and insisted that he and Melanie were simply friends. Chloe doubted Brady and warned, "Remember, wherever Melanie goes, trouble follows." Meanwhile, Melanie crossed paths with Dario, who sensed her attraction and tried to take advantage of it. Brady appeared and Melanie quickly ran into Brady arms and kissed him. "Are you ready for our date?" Melanie asked, hoping to mislead Dario. Later, Brady and Melanie were awkward with each other as they laughed about their kiss.
