Days Of Our Lives Recaps
DAYS Week of April 14, 2008
Monday
At the hospital, Daniel stopped in to see Kayla. They chatted about California life, and Daniel told her that Dr. Elman had approved her release for tomorrow. Kayla was anxious to split now. Daniel said he'd check with Lexie. Meanwhile, Bo told Lexie he wanted his release papers. Lexie said that was Daniel's call and warned Bo she would have security restrain him if he checked himself out. Bo insisted he had to help Hope. Lexie asked why he didn't want the police involved. Bo refused to consider that and demanded Lexie spring him. He knew he could sign himself out. Lexie warned Bo he would be compromising himself if he did that. Daniel interrupted and told Bo he was lucky to be alive. Bo asked if Daniel was going to release him. After examining his patient, Daniel agreed to spring him. Then, he gave Bo some guidelines to follow. When Daniel left, Bo phoned Caroline and said he needed a favor. Meanwhile, Lexie decided to release Kayla if she went straight home. Kayla agreed. Lexie asked if Kayla could stop Bo from searching for Hope. Kayla promised to make sure Bo took care of himself. Then, Kayla phoned Caroline and said she needed a favor. Caroline picked up Bo and Kayla and drove them to the pub. She begged them to tell her what was going on, but they wouldn't. So she warned them to be careful and left. Alone, Bo told Kayla it was time to find their partners.
At Chez Rouge, John and Marlena danced. Suddenly, Marlena backed off, confessing things didn't feel right. They returned to their table, where John wanted to order more champagne. Marlena nixed the idea; that's how she got carried away before. "Was that a bad thing?" asked John. "It is when you end up in the arms of a stranger," retorted Marlena. John said the old John was gone, but Marlena could have the new one — handsome, smart and richer than Trump. Marlena confided her feelings for John were tangled up with memories of the way they were. It wasn't just John's memory, everything about him was different. She loved him, but not the things he did. John wondered how Marlena reconciled their tent sex. Marlena couldn't deny she was sexually drawn to John, but she was confused. She had to get away to sort out her feelings. "I don't want you to go," noted John, insisting he was making progress and didn't want to regress. Marlena stood pat. She had to go. The pair nearly kissed. Then, Marlena left.
Ava was ready to get hot and heavy with Steve. Steve admitted what they had was intense...but noted that the hottest fires burned out the fastest. Ava suggested relighting it, claiming she and Steve were made for each other. Ava went on about how Steve leaving her made her sick. She wanted Steve to make it up to her and kissed him. Steve pulled away in pain. His ribs were still smarting. "When I make love to you I want it to be right," he said, noting he didn't want it to be while he was still hurt from the plane crash or as her prisoner. Besides, he wasn't the kind of guy who could make love to her while his pregnant wife was down the hall. Ava reluctantly relented. She stroked Steve's face, then slapped him and walked out. Hope heard a noise outside, picked up a vase, and hid behind the door. Steve entered and avoided being clobbered. He told Hope that Ava was trying to get him into bed. When he backed off, Ava slapped him. He admitted leaving Ava really screwed her up. Angelo came in and demanded to know how Steve got into Hope/Kayla's room. Steve handed him the paper clip he jimmied the lock with, and Angelo carted him away. Alone, Hope vowed to find her way back to Bo.
Back at the pub, Bo warned Kayla that Hope was in trouble. He showed her a DVD a security guy at the hospital gave him, noting it would lead them to Hope.
Tuesday
Hope had a series of bad dreams. First, Ava injected something into Bo's hospital IV and he flatlined. Later, Ava visited Kayla, warning the only one Steve was going to have a baby with was her. Then, she tossed Kayla out the window. Finally, Hope and Bo were on the docks, where Bo said he was going to see Pop and Zack. Hope woke up, knowing she had to get out of the Vitali compound.
Meanwhile, Steve flashed back to being in bed with Ava. They went on about saving each other's lives, and Ava begged Steve to marry her. Steve remembered Ava promising to be a good wife as they discussed having babies, heading to Vegas to exchange "I Do"s, and kissed. Steve snapped back to reality and called out for Angelo. He told him Ava was sick and needed a doctor. Angelo blamed Steve for Ava's condition. If it weren't for her orders, Angelo would kill Steve with his bare hands.
Bo and Kayla watched DVD footage from the surveillance camera in the hospital parking lot. They spotted Hope's car and noticed someone else driving it, while Hope was in the back seat. Bo and Kayla realized Ava had Hope and Steve. They just had to figure out where the car was headed. Bo realized you had to cross a bridge to go anywhere in Salem, and the bridges had security cameras on them since 9/11. Bo phoned a friend, gave him Hope's license plate number, and asked for help. The guy called back and noted Hope's car was headed toward Brookville. "That's no small town," noted Bo, realizing the search was going to take time. Kayla suggested someone must know something about the Vitali crime family. Bo got another idea. He knew someone who would talk, if the price is right. Soon, Earl arrived. Bo handed him some cash and got Earl to reveal the Vitali compound was north of Brookville. Earl warned the place was built like a fort with armed guards. If Bo tried to get in, he'd probably end up dead. After Earl left, Bo and Kayla took off to find their spouses.
Philip stormed into Nicole's room, revealing the Austrian consulate authorities took Chloe away earlier and he was sure she had something to do with it. Nicole feigned ignorance. Philip countered by telling her to pack her bags and hit the road. People who caused trouble for his friends weren't welcome in the Kiriakis house. Philip accused Nicole of being jealous of Chloe, because Brady picked her over Nicole. Nicole noted "what a big mistake" that was, considering Chloe had everything to do with Brady's disappearance. Philip defended Chloe and reiterated Nicole had to leave. Nicole said she was staying put in her hubby's house. Then, she phoned EJ. Despite waking him up in the middle of the night, EJ arrived on the double. Nicole filled EJ in on Philip trying to kick her to the curb. EJ insisted Nicole had a legitimate claim to stay put as Victor's wife. Philip told EJ what Nicole had done to Chloe. EJ conceded Nicole might be a pain, but it didn't affect her rights. Philip fumed, and Nicole thanked EJ for his services. EJ said there would be a hefty surcharge for summoning him in the middle of the night. Before EJ left he wished Philip luck with Nicole. Philip swore he wasn't letting this go. He'd call his lawyers in the morning and find a way to get rid of Nicole. EJ noted the law was the law. For the time being, Philip was stuck with Nicole.
Wednesday
Sami and EJ discussed the twins. EJ sensed something was upsetting Sami. She went on about Lucas being in prison, her mom being away, John's issues, and their living in the DiMera mansion. John interrupted, noting EJ was working for Mickey and considering taking Nicole as a client. John was surprised EJ would take the side of a Kiriakis. Sami left when she heard Johnny crying. EJ told John that Nicole was a Kiriakis in name only, and John asked him about Victor and Nicole's divorce. EJ said he was bound to protect Nicole's privacy. Sami returned and was stunned EJ was taking Nicole's case. "I haven't decided if I'm going to let you," John told EJ, noting he had that power as head of the family. "Who do you think you are? Tony Soprano?" asked EJ, refusing to take orders from John. John reminded EJ he was living under his roof. EJ suggested he and Sami move out. Sami refused. She didn't trust EJ, especially since he was taking up with Nicole. John guessed Sami wasn't a Nicole fan. EJ filled him in, noting Sami's brother Eric used to date Nicole until she dumped him for Lucas. Sami said Lucas proceeded to become an alcoholic. EJ countered that Lucas drank because Sami lied on the witness stand about him hitting Will. EJ left to tend to the twins. Alone, John commiserated with Sami, who felt trapped at the mansion and didn't want anyone in her life involved with Nicole. When EJ returned, John said he'd reconsidered his repping Nicole. Then, he told EJ that Sami seemed jealous of Nicole.
Ava's goon brought Hope to see Steve. Hope noted the compound was on high alert. Outside, Angelo announced there was an intruder. Ava worried someone was coming for Hope/Kayla and Steve. Steve eavesdropped and told Hope it might be good news. Kayla and Bo approached the house as alarms sounded. The pair hid in the bushes, while Hope and Steve listened as Angelo explained the perimeter had been breached. Angelo was worried Ava's father would find out who Ava was harboring. Ava freaked, knowing it would mean he'd have her locked up. "You know what we've got to do," warned Angelo. Hope wondered if the plan was to kill her and Steve, while Ava noted she didn't want any more bloodshed. Steve banged on the door and told Ava to open it. "It's about us," he promised. Meanwhile, Kayla was discovered by two goons outside. She demanded to see Ava and Steve — she was his wife. The goons tried to contact Angelo on the radio. Suddenly, Bo jumped out of the bushes, took the pair down and tied them up.
Inside, Steve coaxed Ava into opening the door. He said her was ready to be with her again; he and "Kayla" were finished. Ava didn't buy it. Steve continued talking about how good he and Ava were together. Ava reminisced a bit, then snapped back to reality. Steve asked Ava to run away with him. Ava admitted she wanted to, but there was the "Kayla" problem. Steve urged Ava to let "Kayla" go. Suddenly, Ava was hit with head pain and started freaking out, but refused to take her medicine. Steve asked what was going on, as he and Angelo got into a scuffle. Angelo accused Steve of throwing Ava away like trash and vowed revenge. Later, Steve was with Hope. As he came to Angelo and Ava emerged, and Angelo said they were going to play a game. Before they could start, Angelo got a radio message, noting two of their men were out cold. Angelo demanded the intruders be brought to him. Angelo told Ava to stay put. Steve pledged his love to Ava, insisting he wanted to go away with her. Ava knew it wasn't true and challenged Steve to admit he never loved her; it was always "Kayla." Bo and Kayla arrived, and Bo untied Hope and Steve, while Kayla put her gun under a couch cushion. Steve embraced Kayla, confusing Ava. Kayla announced she was Steve's real wife. Ava had kidnapped the wrong person. The foursome turned to leave, but stopped when Kayla started cramping. Ava grabbed the gun and fired as Hope fell to the floor.
Thursday
Stephanie snuck into Max's room as he slept to tell him her mom was missing and she didn't know what to do. Max speculated where Kayla might be. So did Steph: "Maybe my dad's crazy ex-girlfriend kidnapped her." Max thought Kayla was probably off trying to find Ava. Steph fretted that her dad, mom and little sibling-to-be might all be in trouble. After a temporary freak out, Steph admitted she was really scared. Max promised they'd find her folks. He thought Kayla and Bo were together, since they were released from the hospital at the same time. Steph couldn't imagine the pair going off on a wild goose chase in their conditions and wanted to call the cops. Max didn't. If Steve hadn't contacted the cops, there must have been a reason. Steph agreed. Then, she gave Max a kiss and prepared to leave. Max suggested she stay, to sleep. Steph stayed, admitting she felt safe with Max.
Nicole found Philip in the Kiriakis living room. She asked how Sami landed a guy like EJ. "The same exact way you do — a little sex and a lot of lies," retorted Philip, wondering if it was wise for Nicole to have a DiMera, who was wed to Sami, represent her. Nicole said it would be fun torturing Sami while getting legal advice. She then had to tend to Pookie. Philip stopped her to ask if something happened in Los Angeles that prompted her return to Salem. Nicole said she returned to town to claim what is hers. Suddenly, Chloe stormed in and accused Nicole of ratting on her. Nicole 'fessed up. She did it because she thought Chloe did something horrible to Brady. The two ladies fought. Philip broke it up, advising they'd have to get along or he'd toss them both out of the mansion. Nicole reminded Philip he couldn't kick her out, legally. Philip told Chloe to head up to bed, then chatted with Nicole. Philip explained Nicole wouldn't get any of Victor's money as long as they were married and Victor had an airtight will: Philip got everything and Nicole got zilch. That is, unless she did what Philip wanted...namely, work for him. Philip proposed that Nicole spy on someone for him.
Ava shot Hope as she, Bo, Kayla and Steve tried to make their getaway. Hope fell to the ground, while Steve grabbed a gun and pointed it at Ava. Kayla examined Hope, pronouncing she'd survive. Later, Ava sat tied up in a chair and flashed back to memories of her and Steve, where Steve vowed he'd never let anything bad happen to her. Meanwhile, Kayla, Bo and Hope tried to leave the compound. Ava called out for Steve and pushed the alarm button next to her. In the hallway, Bo, Hope, Kayla and Steve encountered Ava's goons. When Hope fainted, the foursome were recaptured. The goons brought them back into Ava's room and untied Ava. She questioned Kayla about being Steve's real wife. Ava went off ranting and raving, finally ordering Angelo to kill everyone. Steve begged Ava to spare the others and hurt him. Ava grabbed Angelo's gun and pointed it at Steve, as Kayla screamed. Angelo grabbed the gun back. Ava's father wouldn't want her killing Steve. Ava asked Angelo to do it for her. Steve yelled Ava wasn't the woman he fell in love with. She had become a monster. Ava ignored him, telling Angelo to shoot him. Hope tried to buy some time, asking Ava to tell them why she hated Steve. "You owe us at least that much," added Kayla. Ava protested. She didn't owe them anything, but she would share her and Steve's story. However, she warned it didn't end well.
Friday
At the pub, Kate expressed her concern about Chelsea. Daniel concurred when he interrupted, mentioning Chelsea had looked pale yesterday. He wondered if she was hiding something. When Daniel took a phone call, Kate decided to take Chelsea home.
John and Paul met at the DiMera mansion to discuss their shipping arrangement and subsequent bribery charges. Paul wanted John to make good on his promise to make things right. He had no money, no job, etc. John vowed to put Paul back on top. Then, he'd owe him.
Philip asked Nicole if she was going to take the spy assignment he'd offered. Nicole asked who she'd be spying on. "John," said Philip, promising to give Nicole the details on their way to breakfast. Later, outside the pub, Philip told Nicole to use her womanly wiles on John, who was inside. "John hates me," noted Nicole. Philip said the new John was a blank slate. "Do your thing," urged Philip. Nicole obliged, promptly introducing herself to John. She said she found his situation fascinating and admitted she'd always had a crush on him. Then, she asked him out on a date. John admitted it might be fun.
Outside, Morgan ran into Philip. She spotted John inside, said she knew Philip was gunning for him, but didn't see why he had to drag her father through the mud, too. Philip insisted he wasn't doing either. He asked Morgan to join him for breakfast so he could prove it. Morgan declined; she was meeting her dad. Paul arrived and urged Morgan to say goodbye to the busy Mr. Kiriakis. "I was a lot busier before my family's ships started mysteriously getting held up in customs," retorted Philip. Morgan and Paul headed into the pub, as did Philip. Morgan and Paul discussed his situation with John. Paul assured her everything would be fine, eventually.
Philip interrupted John and Nicole, noting the twosome deserved each other. Then, Nicole gave John a peck on the cheek and left, noting she'd see him at his place tonight. Outside, Nicole told Philip about her date with John. Philip cautioned her not to lose sight of her objective. Inside, Paul told John he noticed "the hot little blonde" he was with. "I know what I’m doing," assured John.
Kate and Chelsea returned to the Kiriakis mansion, where Chelsea fainted. Dr. Daniel arrived on cue, noting he was worried after seeing her earlier. Kate phoned 911, then said she'd blame Daniel if anything happened to Chelsea. Soon, the paramedics arrived to take Chelsea to the hospital. Morgan arrived and asked what was going on. Daniel promised to take good care of Chelsea as they wheeled her off.
Ava told Kayla, Bo and Hope how she'd believed she and Steve were deeply in love until their wedding day. "I was marrying the man of my dreams," said Ava, flashing back to the big day. Steve apologized to Kayla for having to hear this. Ava decided Steve should recount the story. Steve obliged, noting how he watched Ava walk down the aisle. Then, he got a sick feeling and knew something was wrong. He had visions of another wedding to Kayla and ran. Steve was about to return to the chapel and explain, when two goons took him away. Ava said a part of her died that day and asked Steve how the story ended. Steve said Ava knew the ending. He could only tell her about the time before he met her. He went on about being abducted, escaping and finding Ava. "I fell in love with you and I wanted to marry you...It killed me that I never got a chance to say goodbye," swore Steve. Ava wept and recounted how she'd waited, but finally realized Steve wasn't coming back. She ran out of the chapel in tears. The next thing she knew she was in an ambulance en route to a hospital. Afterwards, her father brought her home and locked her in her room. "I'm sorry," offered Steve. Ava told Steve he ruined her life and she hated him.
