Kate and Stefano met up with Lexie and Abe at the hospital and found out what was happening with Theo. Abe asked The DiMeras to stay with Lexie while he checked out how the investigation was going. Before Abe left, Stefano vowed that the Bradys would pay if Ciara's actions harm Theo in any way. The tension prompted an argument between Lexie and Stefano. Stefano felt that once Theo came home, they should keep him away from troubled Ciara. Victor overheard their argument and demanded to know what was going on.
Hope again tried to call Ciara, but she didn't pick up because she had fallen unconscious after hitting her head on a rock. A torn Theo didn't pick it up, either. Bo comforted a shaken Hope. Back in the woods, Ciara came to, but her head hurt. Theo then accidentally dropped the cell phone, which broke. The kids then realized they had no food.
Bo headed to the Brady Pub and met up with Abe. He apologized for what happened with the kids. Abe asked how Hope was doing. Bo admitted he was worried about her, but felt confident they could find Ciara and Theo... Julie kept Hope company and assured her Ciara would be home soon.... Bo went to the hospital and talked to both Stefano and Victor. He warned them not to get involved in the investigation because it would muck things up. "The two of you do nothing," he ordered.
Chloe got her drink on at the Cheatin' Heart. Daniel and Melanie entered and were stunned to see her sloshed. Daniel approached Chloe's table and asked where Parker was. With Philip, she drunkenly explained. He sat down and pointed out that between her meds and caretaking of her son, drinking in the afternoon probably wasn't the best idea. "Your son needs you and your big idea was to imitate Nicole?" he asked. She insisted the boy didn't need her, adding that nobody did. Melanie approached the table; Daniel left to get some air. Melanie tried to talk to Chloe, to no avail. Mel met up with Daniel on the pier. She told her dad how she was threatened earlier by Arianna's killer. He told her to stop pursuing the killer. She refused. After Daniel left, a hand touched Melanie's shoulder.... An inebriated Chloe called Kate and demanded she listen to her. Kate spied her recording device and smirked.
Gabi and Will were upset to find Rafe II sneaking out of the loft. They demanded an explanation. Will asked how Sami reacted; "Rafe" admitted she didn't know. While he was explaining his need for a "sabbatical", Dario entered and angrily lashed out at "Rafe" not caring about catching Arianna's killer. "Rafe" cut down Dario with some choice comments, which upset both Will and Gabi. "Rafe" took off, happy to be clear of his "siblings". He swung by the Pub to talk to Roman and announced he was taking a leave of absence. "No, you're not," said Roman, who explained that he couldn't approve it.
In the asylum, the real Rafe continued his fitness regimen. He got word he was getting out to go to arts and crafts class. There, Rafe stole some blue ink pens and emptied them into the sink in this room when he got back.

On the pier, Dario touched a jumpy Melanie's shoulder. She freaked out and sprayed him with pepper spray. She ran to get him a towel and wiped his face.
Philip talked to someone from child services about restoring joint custody of Parker to Chloe. The man pointed out how Chloe had left Parker on the pier in the winter and then tried to commit suicide, so her mental state was in question. Philip insisted she was doing better.
At the Cheatin' Heart, a drunk Chloe called Kate and went on a tear about her. Kate baited Chloe into saying more bad things and recorded their conversation. Chloe threatened to take Parker away forever if Kate messed with her again and threatened to kill Kate. Kate hightailed it over to the Kiriakis manse to talk to her son. She played the recording of her conversation with Chloe for him. When Chloe arrived home, an upset Philip played it for her.
Against Bo and Lexie's orders, Stefano hired someone privately to look for Ciara and Theo. Vivian ran into the rattled Phoenix. He revealed Theo was missing. Stefano headed home, where he found Troy, the drug dealer, at his doorstep. Stefano ordered him away.
Gus met up with Vivian in the hospital and said he was close to discovering the identity of the man Stefano kept in his basement. Gus got the results and revealed there was one DNA sample they couldn't identify.
Roman refused to give "Rafe" a leave from the force and explained that he had to help find Ciara and Theo. Roman headed out. Stefano arrived to talk to the imposter. He wanted him to take care of Troy.
At Fay's funeral in Chicago, the priest assumed Taylor and EJ were a couple. Nicole corrected him. Taylor and Nicole had letters that they wanted to be put with Fay's ashes. The priest explained Brandon had already given his. Nicole stayed behind to work on what she wanted to say to her mother while Taylor and EJ went together in the limo to the cemetery. The ride was awkward as they discussed their relationship. They professed their love, then got in a car accident.
Back at the funeral home, Nicole opened up to the priest about the concerns she had over EJ/Stefano and Rafe. After, she called "Rafe" but he didn't pick up. She called the loft; Dario answered. Nicole said she was looking for "Rafe". Dario revealed that he left town.
Melanie arrived home, where the attacker from the pier secretly hid in one of the rooms. She was reading a book on the couch when the lights suddenly went out.

Chloe was stunned to hear that Kate had taped their vitriolic call and more concerned that Philip had it. She insisted Kate pushed her to say those things. Philip didn't want to hear Chloe's tearful explanation and lit into her for her past mistakes and bad choices. He said he didn't think it was possible for her to change. Philip announced that he was taking Parker and leaving Salem. A stunned Chloe broke down. "What about me? I'll die if I can't be with him," she wailed. Philip believed she would go on, as always.
Kate ran into Victor on the pier. He saw a gleam in her eye and asked what was up. She suggested he go home and find out. Victor arrived home to find Chloe in tears, saying farewell to Parker. She wept as she handed the baby back. Philip told Victor he was heading to the apartment on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. Vic was sad his son was leaving, but Philip felt it was the best thing for Parker. Philip headed out with the baby. Chloe broke down, then Victor kicked her out of the house.... Philip headed to the DiMera mansion and said farewell to his mother.
Carly had problems in the OR. Another doctor had to take over for her. She popped a pill, then went to scrub up again. When her shift was over, she headed to the pier. She had the shakes, needing meds. Maxine walked by and told her that Theo and Ciara had disappeared. Carly cried that she couldn't console Bo.
Arianna's killer — Troy — attacked Melanie in her apartment. Melanie fought back. Dario came in and saved her.
Daniel and Maxine watched Jennifer work her PR magic around the hospital. While scurrying around, she literally ran into Daniel. She asked what he was doing after work, explaining that she had tickets to a classical music concert. He thought she meant for them to go together, but she suggested she take Carly. The doc was called into surgery. After, he and Jen talked again. She got the call from Hope that Ciara was missing and flipped out. Daniel offered to help.
Taylor and EJ's limousine crashed. He came to, but Taylor was still unconscious. He revived her. She opened her eyes, but her leg was pinned and her head hurt. The driver called to them; he said he would get help. While they were alone, EJ yelled how much he loved Taylor. Moved, she kissed him.
At the funeral home, Nicole read Taylor's letter to Fay, in which she apologized for disappointing her. Nicole wondered what her sister meant.

Nicole tried to remove branches to free EJ and Taylor, who were trapped inside the wrecked limo. From inside the limo, EJ and Taylor protested and urged Nicole to back away. Nicole pleaded with EJ to take care of her sister. An ambulance arrived and Taylor and EJ were rushed to the hospital. Taylor suffered a sprained ankle. While EJ was being examined, Nicole questioned Taylor about the letter she wrote to their mother. Taylor was offended and insisted her letter was private. Nicole apologized and said she was at a loss for words and looked at Taylor's letter for inspiration. Taylor claimed she apologized to Fay because she felt responsible for her coming back to Salem. Nicole countered that Fay's death wasn't Taylor's fault. Alone with EJ, Taylor fretted that Nicole would realize they had feelings for each other. Taylor asserted she would have to take action to protect Nicole. When Taylor left, EJ quietly murmured he had a plan that would make it possible for them to continue seeing each other.
Adrienne and Justin returned from having eloped. At the Brady pub, they observed the closeness between Jennifer and Daniel. Justin left with Daniel to search for Ciara and Theo while Adrienne asked Jennifer what was going on between her and Daniel. After prodding, Jennifer admitted that Daniel was a great guy. Adrienne advised Jennifer to follow her heart and be with Daniel. Justin also question Daniel about Jennifer. Daniel admitted he had feelings for Jennifer, but didn't think she felt the same about him.
Bo told Hope there was a possible sighting of Ciara, and he went off to investigate. At the hospital, Carly was unable to focus. She swallowed some pills, anxious to help in the search to find Ciara and Theo. When Bo returned to pick up a photo of Ciara, Carly arrived and threw herself into Bo's arms, exclaiming that she felt terrible about the situation with Ciara. Hope was surprised to see Carly hugging Bo. Carly turned to Hope and also gave her a huge hug. Daniel and Justin arrived and Daniel took an overly emotional Carly outside. Daniel assumed Carly's reaction was due to her own feelings of loss regarding Melanie and Nicholas. Carly appreciated Daniel's concern and swooped in to give him a passionate kiss, which was witnessed by a stunned Jennifer. She quietly slipped away. Alone, Carly realized she took the wrong pills.
Car trouble forced Rafe 2 to spend more time in Salem. At the Cheatin' Heart, he ran into Brady, who blasted him for trying to abandon Sami.
Melanie informed Dario that her attacker confessed to killing Arianna. Dario attacked Troy, intent on killing him. Melanie pleaded with Dario to stop, worried that he would end up in prison. Dario calmed down and they phoned 911. At the hospital, Troy had a seizure and fell into a coma. Melanie and Dario bonded. While Dario went to get Melanie tea, Brady arrived and Melanie fell into his arms. Dario returned to see Brady comforting Melanie.

Dario winced when he saw Brady hug Melanie. Brady blamed Dario for putting Melanie in danger. Daniel and Melanie split up the fight between Brady and Dario. Brady recognized Troy as the dealer Arianna arrested. Melanie took Dario aside to talk about Brady. Dario wanted Melanie to steer clear of Brady and warned he'd break her heart, the same as he did Arianna. "Why do you care?" Melanie asked. Dario explained that he didn't want to see Melanie waste her life on a jerk. Brady invited Melanie to stay at the Kirakis mansion. "You need to be somewhere safe tonight," Brady stressed, "and that is with me." Brady also informed Melanie that Philip left Salem with Parker and Chloe had moved out of the mansion. Daniel thanked Dario for saving his daughter's life. Dario wasn't pleased to learn that Melanie was going home with Brady.
Rafe 2 was angry with the mechanic because it was taking so long to replace his car's alternator. Dario phoned Rafe 2 and said, "I know, Rafe. I know who killed her." Rafe 2 worried that Dario knew he murdered Fay. But Dario was talking about their sister Arianna's killer. Dario wanted Rafe 2 to come to the hospital and question Troy when his coma lifted. Rafe 2 lied that he wasn't in Salem. "Rafe, this is about finding justice for our sister," Dario pleaded. Dario added that he intended to stay at the hospital all night and hoped Rafe would return to Salem. "I'll see what I can do," Rafe 2 responded. A moment later, Rafe 2 turned his attention to a beautiful woman at Your Cheatin' Heart. "I'm Alicia," the woman smiled. "So, what's a guy like you doing here all alone?" Rafe 2 promptly bought Alicia a drink. When Alicia made it clear she was available, Rafe 2 brought her to the loft, where they had sex.
At the asylum, Rafe dyed his white patient scrubs the same color as the orderlies' uniform and escaped. Rafe hoped that the key he held onto all this time would help him discover his true identity.
Maggie comforted Victor over Ciara's disappearance. Victor questioned what was going on between them. "I don't mean to pressure you in any way," Victor shared. "But I don't think Mickey would have wanted you to be lonely." Maggie acknowledged that she had feelings for Victor and affirmed that they were a couple. In response, Victor tenderly kissed Maggie. Meanwhile, Kate tormented Chloe for causing Philip to leave Salem with Parker. "Philip had to get Parker as far away from his mentally ill mother as he could!" Kate taunted. "This whole disaster with my son and Philip happened because of you," Chloe accused. Kate called Chloe a pathetic drunk who deserved to be alone. Later, Kate went to the Kirakis mansion and interrupted Victor and Maggie's warm evening. Maggie left and Victor offered Kate a drink. Kate updated Victor that Philip found an apartment in Chicago. Victor and Kate toasted Chloe's departure from the mansion. "Any friend of Chloe's is an enemy of mine!" Victor declared. At the pier, Chloe recalled her suicide attempt. Maggie found Chloe alone and expressed concern for her. A tearful Chloe explained that Philip left with Parker and she was moving into a hotel. Maggie insisted that Chloe come home with her.
