An irate Lexie blamed Hope for letting Theo run away with Ciara. Abe arrived and informed the two moms that a neighbor saw the kids hanging around her landscaper's truck. Abe suspected the children may have hitched a ride on the back of the truck. Abe directed forensics to go over the truck and then left to inspect the area where the truck was parked. Lexie apologized to Hope for blowing up and Hope accepted. Hope promised Lexie that the children would be returned safely. Meanwhile, a tough runaway named Leah encountered Ciara and Theo. Leah took pity on the kids and left them food to eat. In return, Ciara gave Leah a necklace that was a gift from Hope. Later, a police officer questioned Leah and when she tried to flee, Leah dropped Ciara's necklace.
At the loft, Dario arrived and found Rafe 2 kissing Alicia, the woman he picked up. Alicia quickly gathered her things and departed. "Everyone sees you as a hero," noted Dario, "but the way I see it, you're nothing but a bum." Gabi arrived and was thrilled that Rafe didn't leave town. But her hopes were dashed when Rafe 2 bid Dario and Gabi farewell and left. Gabi questioned if Dario also planned on leaving, now that Arianna's killer was found. Rafe 2 got a flat just outside of Salem.
The real Rafe made his way through the forest but soon found that the asylum guards surrounded him.
Victor ran into Chloe at the Brady Pub and learned she was living with Maggie. Victor couldn't understand why Maggie was letting a drunk who had ruined so many lives stay in her home. "Because I was a drunk, too," Maggie answered. Victor remarked that everyone would have been better off if Chloe had succeeded in killing herself. Chloe overheard Victor and ran out of the pub. "If you take her in, I won't see you again, Victor warned Maggie. "I'll survive!" Maggie shot back. Later, Maggie found Chloe sitting at the pier. "Maybe I should stay somewhere else," Chloe shared. "I don't want to come between you and Victor." Maggie countered that she was better off seeing Victor's other side before she got in too deep.
Meanwhile, Melanie thanked Brady for letting her stay the night at the Kiriakis mansion. Melanie confessed that she enjoyed living the good life with Philip and questioned if she was a gold digger. Brady assured Melanie that she genuinely loved Philip. Later, Victor informed Melanie that Chloe was staying with Maggie. Melanie was outraged and said Chloe was taking advantage of Maggie. After Melanie left, Brady expressed gratitude to Victor for treating Melanie with kindness. Victor agreed to Brady's request that Philip not be informed that Melanie was staying at the Kirakis mansion. "I was wondering, are we still family?" Victor asked. Later, Melanie encountered Chloe at the pier and blasted her for exploiting peoples' kindness. Maggie overheard and ordered Melanie to stop.

The asylum guards surrounded Rafe in the woods. Rafe backed up and fell into a ravine. The guards assumed that he was dead. Meanwhile, Rafe 2 accidentally found Ciara and Theo by the side of the road. He promised not to turn them in if they promised not to tell anyone they saw him. Ciara promptly agreed, but Theo was reluctant. A desperate Rafe 2 worried that he may have to take drastic action with the kids. When Theo tried to run, Rafe 2 grabbed him by the arm. Meanwhile, Bo and Hope travelled to Centerville and questioned Leah, the teen runaway, about her encounter with Ciara and Theo. Leah shared that she saw them outside a diner and that they were headed back to the woods. Bo rushed off to try and find the kids. Following Leah's lead, Bo found Ciara and Theo standing with Rafe 2 by the side of the road.
Taylor announced she was leaving Salem and that her mind was made up. EJ received a call that Theo was missing, which prompted Taylor to delay her departure. Taylor visited Lexie and offered her support. Meanwhile, Nicole mentioned to EJ that Rafe left town. EJ wasn't concerned, which baffled Nicole, who wondered how Rafe's absence would affect Johnny and Sydney. "Personally, I really don't think that Rafe likes children," EJ commented. "They adored him," Nicole protested. EJ snapped that his nephew was missing and he didn't understand why they were talking about Rafe. Stefano interrupted and said he needed to talk with EJ alone. Stefano revealed that the faux Rafe was no longer in town and EJ replied that he already knew, thanks to Nicole. Stefano was irritated that Nicole was snooping around asking questions about Rafe. "That's why we need to go easy with her," explained EJ, who added that he planned to divorce Nicole. Stefano urged EJ not to do anything rash. Stefano received a call and was told that the real Rafe was dead. Nicole met with Chloe, who apologized for not being there for her when Fay died. Nicole asserted that it was more important for Chloe to be with Parker. Chloe updated Nicole that Philip took Parker and left town. Nicole shared with Chloe her suspicion that EJ had something to do with EJ's accident and subsequent personality change. At the pier, Nicole overheard Vivian and Gus discussing Stefano. Vivian couldn't make sense of Rafe's DNA results and tossed them in the trash. After they walked off, Nicole pulled the paper out of the trash and wondered what EJ was up to.
Brady informed Victor that he still considered him family. "Why don't we work on treating me like an adult?" Brady queried? "Boy, you drive a hard bargain," Victor dryly answered. At the pier, Maggie asked Chloe for a moment to talk with Melanie alone. Chloe apologized to Melanie for everything and left. Maggie and Melanie had harsh words over Chloe and parted on bad terms. Victor overheard Brady comforting Melanie over her argument with Maggie about Chloe. Victor apologized to Melanie and said that Maggie was really mad at him. At the pier, Victor thanked Maggie for breaking the ice between him and Brady. Victor also warned Maggie to be careful with Chloe. "She's so needy, she's dangerous," Victor insisted. Maggie countered that she could handle anything that came her way.

EJ informed Taylor that he planned on divorcing Nicole. Taylor was against the idea because she didn't want her sister hurt. EJ responded that he wanted the divorce because Nicole deserved better and wanted her to find the happiness that he has discovered with Taylor. EJ was convinced Taylor that Nicole could find that happiness with Brady. Taylor agreed that it was a good idea and kissed EJ.
Nicole shared her suspicion with Chloe that EJ and Stefano held Rafe prisoner in the DiMera basement and messed with his mind. Chloe worried about Nicole's safety. "I'm not scared," Nicole insisted. "I'm EJ's wife!" While Chloe went to get them more drinks, Nicole tried putting the pieces of her puzzle together and realized her mother had the answer. Nicole swore Chloe to secrecy and then headed home, where she was stunned to find EJ and Taylor kissing.
Bo was happily reunited with Ciara and explained that the problems between him and Hope had nothing to do with her. "You're the most precious person in the world to me," Bo stressed. He also thanked Theo for being a true, loyal friend to Ciara. Bo put Hope on the phone with Ciara. "Oh, baby, I'm glad you're okay," Hope shared. "I love you so much!" Bo and Rafe 2 returned the children to Salem. "How the hell did you find them?" Bo asked. Rafe 2 lied that he took it upon himself to search independently for Ciara and Theo. Bo commented on the tight grip Rafe 2 held on Theo. Rafe 2 claimed he was afraid that Theo was going to take off again. Theo was reunited with Abe and Lexie. Rafe 2 met privately with Ciara and Theo and lied that he was searching for them, despite what he said earlier. The kids were wary of Rafe 2. Bo informed Rafe 2 that he needed to stay in Salem a little longer to wrap up the case. Meanwhile, the real Rafe crawled out of the ravine, very much alive.
Stefano was thrilled to learn that Theo and Ciara were returned safely. Stefano wanted to share the good news with Chad. Kate pointed out that he was at the Brady Pub with Abigail. Kate phoned Chad and updated him that Theo and Ciara were found. She asked if Chad could meet her at the pier and help repair troubled cell phone. It was all a ruse so that Stefano could meet privately with Abigail. Stefano manipulated Abigail into telling Chad that she didn't think the hospital internship was right for him. Chad assumed that Abigail no longer liked him and told Stefano that he'd take DiMera job after all.

Nicole saw EJ and Taylor sharing a passionate kiss. She stepped away from the door and tightly gripped a sharp letter opener. Later, Nicole sat at the pier to process what she saw. EJ phoned Nicole and she lied that the signal was bad and ended the call. "Maybe this is a sign that we're moving too fast," Taylor remarked to EJ. At the pier, Nicole felt comforted by a vision of Fay. Nicole realized she had power over EJ and summoned a lab tech to get confirmation that Rafe's DNA matched what was found in the DiMera basement. Meanwhile, EJ took Taylor to a secret spot for an intimate picnic. Taylor admitted she loved EJ and kissed him. Taylor cautioned that she wanted everything resolved with Nicole before they took things any further. EJ assured Taylor that things would work out for all parties involved. Alone at the pier, Nicole vowed that Taylor and EJ would not get away with betraying her.
At the Brady Pub, Dario told Gabi that he decided to stay in town and she wondered if it was because of a girl. Dario denied it, but later he asked Melanie for a date. Melanie said she wasn't free to date and Dario asked if it was because of Brady. "No comment," Melanie answered. Dario decided he would still pursue Melanie. "I like a challenge," he smiled. Soon after, Dario asked Adrienne for a bartending job at the Cheatin' Heart. Will and Gabi resolved to stay together no matter what may happen between Sami and Rafe.
Jennifer was on her way to visit Adrienne when she encountered Daniel in the apartment building's hallway. He invited her in for a cup of tea. Jennifer admitted that she saw Daniel and Carly kissing on the pier. Daniel explained that Carly was overly emotional; there was nothing romantic about the kiss. Melanie interrupted to inform Daniel that Philip left Salem with Parker. Daniel was hit hard by the news and asked Melanie if he could talk to her about it later. Jennifer gave Daniel a supportive hug. He pulled away and said he had feelings for Jennifer. She surprised Daniel by saying the feeling was mutual and then kissed him. Meanwhile, Melanie told Carly about Troy attacking her the night before. Carly was distraught that she missed Melanie's calls because she was drugged out. Later, Adrienne confided to Carly how happy she was being remarried to Justin. Alone, Carly wondered if Daniel could be the solution to her problems rather than drugs. She suggested to Melanie that they visit Daniel, not realizing that Daniel and Jennifer were sharing their first kiss.
Chloe received her final divorce papers. Justin tried to comfort Chloe at the Cheatin' Heart and she demanded that he leave her alone. A handsome stranger named watched the blow up and used it as an excuse to flirt with Chloe. She was flattered by the attention.

Bo and Abe formally thanked Rafe 2 for finding Ciara and Theo. There was a knock at the door and Rafe 2 was surprised to find Sami standing in front of him. Sami congratulated Rafe 2 for rescuing the children. "I missed you," Sami shared. Theo alarmed everyone when he ordered Rafe 2 to "go away now!" Rafe 2 covered and said he was a bit stern with the kids when he found them. Later, Bo and Hope enjoyed a quiet time home with Ciara again. Bo questioned Ciara about Rafe. She said Rafe was nice when grown ups were around, but mean when he was only with kids. Sami and Rafe 2 returned to the loft. Sami assumed that Rafe was his old self again and said she wanted to give their marriage another chance. Rafe 2 wasn't pleased by Sami's announcement and made plans to push her away.
Taylor told EJ no more picnics until things were sorted out with Nicole. EJ convinced Taylor that Nicole would be better off with Brady. He promised that Nicole would end up happy and they kissed. At the same time, Nicole confided in Chloe and declared that she wanted revenge on her husband and sister. Chloe urged Nicole against seeking revenge against EJ, but Nicole was steadfast in her determination to punish EJ and Taylor. At the pier, Nicole called the lab tech and learned the DNA samples were still being analyzed. She returned to the DiMera mansion and came face-to-face with EJ and Taylor.
After Jennifer kissed Daniel, he shared, "That was unexpected." Daniel asked Jennifer on a date and she accepted. They agreed to watch a ballgame at a sports bar. At the hospital, Melanie told Carly there was a mandatory nurses meeting scheduled to talk about missing drugs. Carly changed the subject and they headed for Daniel's apartment. They entered just as Daniel and Jennifer were planning their first date. Melanie thought it was great while Carly tried to hide her disappointment. Later, Carly took more pills to ease her pain.
At the Brady Pub, Adrienne informed Abigail that Jack responded to Adrienne's email but failed to acknowledge his family. Later, Jennifer came upon Abigail checking Jack's blog. Abigail was troubled that it seemed like Jack didn't have a care in the world. Jennifer revealed she had a date with Daniel.
