Monday
Stephanie arrived at work with her cameraman David in tow, to Anna's dismay. "I just don’t like being filmed today," she explained. Steph noticed she was distracted and asked what she was reading. Anna told her it was an article, 10 Ways To Get Your Man Back. She insisted she didn't really want Tony back, though, but if she did, she didn’t need a list to do it. While being secretly filmed, Anna unloaded on Steph about Tony and told her what "tricks" she’d use to get Tony back. The conversation turned briefly to Steph and Max, but Steph steered it back to Tony and Anna. Anna admitted she misses the Count.
At Tony's office, Morgan arrived with Mark, her cameraman. Morgan was down in the dumps, so Tony asked her why. She told him about the problems with her parents. He was sympathetic and talked things out with her. He hugged her. Kate came in and noticed their closeness. Kate asked if Tony had any ideas for her campaign. He told her what he was thinking; they flirted. Tony told Morgan and Mark that they could have the rest of the day off and leave the camera behind. Mark turned it on and he and Morgan walked out. Tony asked Kate to dinner that night, which was filmed.
Anna went to Tony's office and spied the camera. She decided to rewind the tape and see what he was up to and was annoyed by his flirting with Kate —and dinner invitation. "You bastard!" she exclaimed. Tony, meanwhile, went to Anna's office and snooped through the things on her desk. He saw the camera and rewound the tape to where Anna talked about using tricks to get him back. “You really are something," he grinned. Tony called Anna's cell phone. He asked where she was. She lied that she was getting her hair washed. He called her hair exquisite. "Do you think Kate's hair is exquisite, too, or just her eyes?" Anna asked. "What's that supposed to mean?" he queried. She told him she hoped he and Kate would be happy together. He responded that he had no idea what she was talking about. She advised him to stop playing games with her.
Ava grabbed Angelo's gun and trained it on Steve and Hope. Steve picked up the cell phone. It was Kayla from the hospital. Steve tried to play it off by saying he couldn't talk, but Kayla was irate. He hung up on her. Ava demanded to know who it was. Steve claimed it was a pushy real estate agent who wouldn't take no for an answer. Ava was skeptical, but Steve tried to convince her that he was telling the truth. He told her that he never loved Kayla like he loved Ava and that they could start over and get married. She put her gun away, then smiled that she wants a magical wedding. A knock on the door interrupted them. It was Angelo, who announced that her doctor was there. She warned Patch and "Kayla" to behave themselves. Once alone, Steve and Hope talked about an escape plan.
Back in her hospital room, Kayla told Lexie what happened. Lexie urged her to remain calm, but Kayla was determined to find her husband. Lexie suggested she let Abe take care of it and that Kayla should focus on the baby.
Tuesday
At the hospital, Stephanie could tell that Kayla was worried about Ava and Steve. Kayla told Steph how Steve hung up on her when she called. Steph cautioned her about getting too worked up. Kayla looked at her latest charts and decided she was okay to leave, but the nurse told her it wasn't going to happen. Kayla called Roman.
Bo called for a nurse. Lexie came in. He insisted on being released so he could find Hope. "Not a chance," Lexie replied. She asked why he wouldn't let Abe search for Hope, but Bo kept mum. Lexie called Roman. Bo said he didn't want the police involved, but he wouldn't elaborate.
Roman visited Kayla, who filled him in about her phone call with Steve. Stephanie told her uncle about Ava and that Steve was worried about what Ava would do. Roman advised Kayla to keep calm for the baby's sake and said he would poke around about Steve's whereabouts. He left to go to Bo's room. Kayla asked Steph to get her some ice and orange juice. When Roman got to Bo's room, Lexie tattled on Bo that he was trying to leave, but didn't say why. Bo didn't tell his brother about Hope's disappearance. Steph returned to Kayla's room to find her gone. She was in Bo's room, telling him about her conversation with Steve and Roman. She asked him what was really going on, but Bo wouldn't give her any answers and claimed Hope was home resting. "They're in danger, aren't they?" Kayla asked. Bo finally came clean about Ava. Kayla told him that Steph had filled her in. Bo revealed that Ava had Hope. "She thinks that Hope is you," he told his sis. Kayla wanted to call the police, but Bo said they couldn't. "Apparently, Ava's father has connections," he explained. She admitted that she told Roman, but Roman assured her that Steve could take care of himself. Bo told her that Steve
had told Abe about Ava, so he hoped Abe and Roman didn't compare notes.
Steph alerted Lexie and Roman to Kayla's disappearance. The nurse came by and told the group that an orderly reported that Kayla was in Bo's room. Roman took a worried Steph for a cup of coffee.
Ava went to her session with her shrink, but didn't feel like talking. He suspected she was hiding something and noticed that she seemed agitated. She said she was bored and crazy of being cooped up. The doctor tried to get her to talk about something that happened right before she was supposed to marry Patch, but she said her memories of him weren't there. He told her she was suppressing them and gave her two pills to relax. She began to cry. He comforted her and said they would stop for the day, which was her plan all along.
Steve came to Hope's window while Ava was in therapy. They managed an escape through the windows, but were caught by the south wall by Angelo. Ava was not happy with her "guests" when they returned. She showed them a cell phone photo of Stephanie and said that if they tried to escape again, Steph would be dead. And they'd only have themselves to blame.
Wednesday
Chelsea and Daniel had coffee at Java Café and got to know each other better. He asked her to show him the hot spots in Salem and they bonded. Nick came in and joined them. They discussed how Daniel turned a hospital in Sweden "green". Nick said he wanted to drive a hydrogen car, but there were only 20 in the world. Daniel told him that he had one parked in Victor's garage and urged Nick to take it for a spin. Chelsea began to feel strange and Daniel wanted to take her to the hospital because she didn't look good. She insisted she was fine and went to get a cold drink. Nick asked Daniel if he went on coffee dates with all of his patients. Daniel suspected Nick had something to say and told him to say it. Nick asked if Daniel was making a move on his girlfriend. Daniel claimed he was just making a new friend. "Your girl is safe with me. I promise you that," he insisted, then praised Nick for calling him out. "Chicks dig that," Doc Jonas added. Chelsea returned, but Daniel was making a phone call, so Nick told her he loved her and apologized for being so wrapped up in his grant. He said he would put their relationship first going forward. Daniel came back, but said he had to go. Chelsea was disappointed. Daniel told Nick to keep an eye on Chels.
A dolled up EJ and Sami went to Chez Rouge so he could meet with EJ and show themselves to be a romantic couple for the immigration officer. EJ wanted to order wine, but Sami told him to cut out the couple stuff. He pointed out how important it was for him to remain in the country. Sami agreed to help him stay and pretend to be his loving wife. What about Lucas? EJ asked. Sami said that she missed him a lot. EJ said that he's moved on from Lucas shooting him. Sami said she didn't believe it.
Philip's quest to find Brady hit a dead end, much to his and Chloe's chagrin. "This is all one big nightmare," she sighed. Chloe told him that the Austrian consulate left her another message. Philip vowed to take care of it. Nicole came in and asked what they were talking about. Philip told her they were talking about Brady. Nicole said she wanted to help, so Philip asked to talk to her alone. She said under one condition: that they went to dinner. He said it could be arranged. She said her dress needed to be seen and suggested going to Chez Rouge. He walked out to get the car. She called to get the phone number of the Austrian consulate.
Nicole and Philip walked in to Chez Rouge and she was thrilled to see that Sami was there. She made a beeline for her table. "Maybe I should tell Maggie to hide the crystal," Philip mused to himself. Sami was stunned to see her rival. Nicole pulled up a chair. "Oh, Sami, it is so good to see you. You look like you've just had twins! Congratulations, by the way." Sami told her to leave. Nicole eyed EJ and asked who he was. He introduced himself. Nicole thought he looked familiar. Sami said he was a lawyer and worked with Mickey. Philip fetched Nicole, saying their table was ready. "Oh, thank God. Someone else you can annoy," Sami retorted. Nicole left with Philip, but not before telling Sami that she was in Salem to stay. When Nicole left, EJ asked Sami about her. Sami gave him a brief synopsis. At their table, Nicole asked Philip what he wanted to talk to her about. "You," he replied. "My favorite subject!" she exclaimed. He said he wasn't messing around and that her arrival upset Victor. "I don't like when my father's upset," he said. She said she didn't either and wanted her relationship with Victor to work. Philip told her she was crazy and was working with his lawyers to make sure she wouldn't get any K money. Panicked, she returned to EJ and Sami's table and asked EJ for some legal advice.
Chloe looked for Philip in the mansion, unaware that he was out to dinner. The phone rang; Chloe picked it up. It was for her, but the person hung up. The doorbell rang. It was two men from the Austrian consul, advising Chloe to come with them.
John surprised Marlena at her office. He explained he decided to give her what she wants, the old John. Marlena asked what he meant. He said that it was a problem that she wouldn't accept that the old John was gone. "You need to be convinced that there's no going back," he said, then asked her to hypnotize him. She said that it might not solve his problem, which is his memory loss. She asked how he felt about Stefano doing that to him. He admitted it made him angry when he thought about what Stefano did to him, but that karma worked it out for him with Stefano in the coma and John heir to his fortune. He re-stated his desire for her to hypnotize him, but asked if she was willing to accept the outcome in case he didn't get his memory back. She said she'd try. She put him under. He remembered a cold room and Dr. Rolf. She told him to remember a happy place. He said he did: the mansion. Marlena told him about past times they had together. Cue the John/Marlena flashbacks. She asked if he remembered any of the times she described. A frustrated John said no. She brought him out of the hypnotic state and told him he didn't remember anything. She told him she wouldn't interfere with how he chose to live his life. "You'll accept me, Blondie. I just know you will," he insisted.
Thursday
Stephanie dropped by the Pub, hoping to see Max, but he was too busy waiting tables to chat. Steph stuck around for a slice of pie and "boy talk" with Caroline. Steph admitted that Max is working so much that they never go out and have fun like they used to. True to her word, Caroline spoke to Max and he announced he'd take a little time off. Stephanie was elated by the news. When he asked what she wanted to do, Stephanie said she just wanted to talk. She confided that she's worried about her dad since nobody has heard from him.
At Chez Rouge, Maggie told Philip that she's not happy Nicole is back in town, especially since she upset Maggie's staff with her demands. Philip agreed that Nicole is a problem. He received a call from a frantic Chloe, who reported that two men from the Austrian Consulate had shown up. After advising Chloe to keep mum, he took off. Meanwhile, Nicole was at Sami and EJ's table, rudely asking EJ to represent her while also insulting him and Sami. A fuming Sami said he'd never represent a "gold-digging witch like you." Mickey walked up and pulled EJ aside to warn that Nicole is a tyrant,
but EJ protested that he can handle Nicole and is in no position to turn down work. Returning to his table, EJ warned Nicole that if she wants his legal services, she has to be nicer to Sami. Ignoring him, Nicole kept up her diatribe until Sami tossed a drink in Nicole's face. After the ruckus died down, EJ stunned Sami with the news that he's taking Nicole's case. Nicole gloated and sipped her drink as EJ and Sami whispered loudly. He insisted that they give Nicole a chance and that if it becomes a problem he'll find her another attorney. "No deal, EJ; It's either her or me," said
Sami. Nicole walked over and apologized to Sami. EJ urged his wife to bury the hatchet, but Sami argued that Nicole is putting on an act. Over his wife's objections, EJ consented and agreed to become Nicole's, but warned that if Nic causes trouble, he'll make her find new counsel.
John met at the pub with Paul, who implored John to get him out of his legal mess. "I did what you told me to do, John. You said that this would never happen," he hissed. Marlena walked in and was surprised to find John there. Paul left and Marlena sat with John, who suggested that they could start over fresh. Marlena declined, saying she wants the old John and "I want the man I fell in love with." John suggested that Marlena could turn him into the man she wants him to be. After briefly mulling it over, Marlena asked if
John was ready to be a project again, since he was already Stefano's project. "Yes, but he didn't look half as good in a dress." John laid on plenty of flattery and sweet talk, urging her to give it a try.
Phillip arrived shortly after one of the men from the consulate threatening to have Chloe extradited back to Austria. The Austrians hauled Chloe away. "Don't say a word. Don't say a word. We're gonna fix this, I promise," assured Philip. Afterward, he wondered who tipped off the authorities about Chloe, then gasped, "Nicole!"
Friday
At John's invitation, Marlena met him at Chez Rouge for an intimate dinner as part of their "project" to get the old John back. He raised his glass to "starting from scratch." At the bar, Tony ran into Anna, who was in a low-cut dress and dripping with diamonds. When he said he was there for a business meeting with Kate, Anna lost no time referring to the kind of "business" the former working girl conducted. Maggie's joint was hopping, Paul dined with daughter Morgan, assuring her that he'll get out of the mess he's in.... Anna dropped by Marlena and John's table to flirt shamelessly as Tony looked on.
Over dessert at the Brady Pub, Stephanie and Max pondered Steve's whereabouts. He predicted that her parents will be okay, but Steph wasn't so sure. Max took Stephanie for an off-screen visit to Grandpa Shawn's grave, which they both found comforting; then they returned to the Pub.... Shortly after Nurse Maxine warned Bo to take it easy, he climbed out of his hospital bed, determined to find Steve and Hope. Fellow patient Kayla argued that he's to weak and that she would conduct the search.
Steve and Hope were hustled into Ava's lair, where they found the setting for a romantic dinner. Dressed in a sheer, slinky black number (think retro Madonna), Ava wriggled into the room and announced that she and Steve were indeed having a special date, and "Kayla" would be forced to watch. Ava pulled Steve into a long kiss, assuring him they have "all night to catch up." "Kayla" tried to pull them apart, but Angelo restrained her, then slapped handcuffs on the captive and left. Hope watched as Ava purred to Steve about the past and downed shots. Ava had a screen set up with pictures from their past, which prompted a stroll down memory lane about their lovemaking. A silent Steve looked mortified as Ava reminisced. Finally, he leapt to his feet and lambasted her for the slideshow and having a man following Stephanie. To make matters worse, Ava announced that she'd had her goons get rid of the man Steve had keeping an eye on his daughter.
Victor sat at Bo's bedside painting a grim portrait of the Vitali family's ruthlessness. He talked about how brutal they treat their own employees. Meanwhile, Ava was back to talking about, "the good old days, when we were in love." Steve flashed back to a passionate smooching session on a bed. In the flashback, he pulled away, saying he shouldn't do this with the boss man's daughter. Back in the present, Ava observed the pained look on Steve's face and proclaimed, "You're remembering." Hope's jaw dropped. Another flashback ensued; in this one, Ava assured Steve that her father okayed their relationship and the two declared their love for each other. In the here and now, Steve and Ava stared at each other, then launched into a loooong kiss as "Kayla" protested. "Kayla" urged Steve to look in his back pocket. He did and retrieved a sonogram shot. She reminded him that the baby she's carrying and Stephanie need him.
Back at Chez Rouge, John chided Anna for coming on to him in front of Marlena. A nearby Tony smiled as Anna squirmed with discomfort; Anna hurried back to the bar. Tony started to go after her, but John pulled him aside. John advised Tony to be straight with Anna about his feelings, then added that if he wasn't married, he'd pursue Anna himself. Tony was not pleased with that idea. John quickly noted she only has eyes for Tony. At the bar, Marlena approached Anna, who apologized. Marlena observed that the scene was for Tony's benefit. Anna remarked how envious she is of Doc Evans's relationship with John, but Marlena sighed that he's not the same man he used to be.... Paul and Morgan walked up as John asked Tony to help out with Paul's problems. Afterward, Morgan thanked Tony for helping her dad and gave him a kiss on the cheek before leaving. When Anna walked up, he quickly remarked that Morgan is a "nice kid." He then asked Anna to give them a chance, but she said that she didn't want to "get in line" behind the other women in Salem.... Resuming their date, Marlena reminded John that he's a good dancer. They slow-danced to a romantic tune.
Victor left after advising Bo not to go after the Vitalis family. Kayla and Bo agreed that it is too dangerous to go to the police because the family has connections on the force. Kayla agreed to let Bo look for Hope and Steve — but only if she could join him. Nurse Maxine returned and reported that they were both being released.
Despite "Kayla" begging him to choose "their" family over Ava, he said, "I'm sorry Kayla, this is where I belong."
