At the Brady Pub, Rafe went on message boards for former employees of the Fairview Clinic to try to get info on Dr. Baker. He got an alert from someone who agreed to meet him to talk about Dr. B. He headed out to the abandoned clinic, which, fortunately, still had electricity. He checked the file drawers, then spied a computer. "Why not?" he said. He found some brochures about the Dominican Republic and gamblers recovery programs. The nurse who agreed to meet him showed up. He asked where the doc was; she said she didn't know. She then revealed that something terrible had happened at the clinic.

Nicole called Dr. Baker to ask if he had gotten the $100,000 she wired. He told her he did. "Then you and I are done," she said. Not so fast, he replied. He asked her to send photos of Sami's beautiful baby. "She is my daughter, Baker. Mine," she reminded him. "Oh, sorry. Sorry. Slip of the tongue," he cracked. She advised him to never call her again. After, placed a bet with his bookie — and lost big time.

Nicole returned home, where EJ told her Ciara had been kidnapped. EJ said he couldn't think of anything worse that losing a child.

Stephanie and Philip continued their discussion at his house. He asked her if she wanted to reunite. She said she thought he wanted to. Melanie came in. Steph asked what she was doing there. She said she had to talk to Philip. Steph wondered why. "Do you want to tell her, or should I?" Mel asked Phil. Philip began to tell Stephanie that Melanie was there for him in the wake of him being upset about Titan and breaking away from his family. "Yeah, it was one of those right place, right time kind of things," Mel added uneasily. Stephanie asked where Philip went after that. Melanie volunteered that Philip spent the night with her. Philip said it wasn't the time to discuss it because they had Ciara to think about. An uncomfortable Melanie took off. Steph said that the only way they could talk about their future depended on what happened between him and Melanie the night before. He said they just talked and that he wanted to get back together with Steph because he loved her so much. She worried the Ciara fiasco would pull him back into the family. He said he had to be there for his father and his family, but once Ciara was back, that part of his life was over. Steph said she thought she left a book in his room and quickly excused herself to get a moment to think.

A peppy Melanie visited Arianna at the Brady Pub and told her about her night with Philip. "This is the happiest I've been in my entire life," Mel enthused. She went to the manse after and asked Philip if he told Steph about them. He broke it to her that he might reunite with Stephanie. She was stunned and devastated. "So then last night meant nothing to you?" she asked incredulously. He said it did, but he had made some remarks in the heat of the moment. "This is not happening," she cried. He implored her not to tell Stephanie. She said she wouldn't back him up this time. Steph came down with the book in hand and was surprised to see Mel was back.

Kyle tried to reassure Ciara that everything would be fine, but Dean's mean girlfriend told him not to give the little girl false hope. She took off to make sure the cops weren't double-crossing them at the drop site.

At the station, Bo had an alarming vision of Ciara being shot at the drop site. He called Hope, but her cell was off. Dean asked if he was okay. Bo said Hope couldn't deliver the ransom money and he had to stop her. He rushed out. Victor came to the station. Justin told him that Bo had just run out. Victor hoped nothing happened to Ciara. He then met EJ and Stefano on the dock, where they assured him they weren't behind Ciara's disappearance. Vic didn't believe them. EJ reminded them that they had a truce. EJ insisted they would never harm a child. "If anybody ever took a child from me, I would make sure that that person and anybody who supported him died a slow and painful death," EJ explained. Gulp, thought Stefano.

Bo arrived at the drop site, which alarmed Hope. Dean's girlfriend skulked away. Bo said Ciara would die if they paid the ransom. She realized he had a vision and asked what he saw. He told her. Dean came running up and Bo angrily informed him that the kidnappers weren't getting a dime.

An angry Dean went to the cabin to figure out the next move. At the station, Bo and Hope conferred with Justin. Bo said paying the ransom wouldn't have gotten her back. He and Hope argued. He said he was never paying the ransom. More arguing ensued. Justin urged Bo to play the kidnappers' game. Bo insisted Ciara's life was in danger if they paid the ransom. Dean came in with an envelope. In it was paperwork that showed that the kidnapper involved had been involved in other kidnapping cases, where the child was returned if the ransom was paid. Hope was hot to turn over the cash the next time the kidnappers called. The phone rang; it was the kidnapper. Bo told Hope to put it on speaker. Hope told the kidnapper she would come back to the drop off point. Bo grabbed the phone and told the kidnapper that he was going to take the $5 million and would pay off every snitch and street rat and the kidnapper wouldn't be able to hide. "I will make you suffer for the rest of your short, miserable lives," he exploded.

Nicole went to the Pub and expressed her sympathy over Sami and Rafe's split to Ari. She didn't understand why Nicole cared since Nic and Rafe weren't friends. The piqued Nicole's interest.
