Days Of Our Lives Recaps
DAYS Week of August 25, 2008
Monday
Max and Stephanie cooled their heels behind bars in the French jail. Max griped that they couldn't make a phone call, but Steph had an idea. She let her hair down — literally — and called for the guard in French. Too bad the jailer was a brusque woman who was not impressed with the prisoner's feminine wiles. Shortly after Agatha stalked off, Sebastien, a young handsome guard showed up. He recognized Stephanie from her racing days and praised how she handled her curves ... on the racetrack. After lots of flirty billing and cooing, Sebastien bent the rules and let Stephanie have her cell phone. She left a voice mail her parents. Then she checked her messages and was thrilled to see that Nick is in city.
In the Marseilles café, Nick spotted Melanie with Michelle, who had just bought her broke friend a coffee. Melanie lamented that she can't even afford a fake Fendi. Quelle horror! Nick listened in as Mel noted that she needs a new rich guy to mooch off of. As the girls discussed potential prey, Nick strolled by and pretended to be talking big business on his cell phone. Melanie purred to her pal that she'd just found her new man. Michelle wasn't so impressed, and disdainfully pointed out that Nick was reading a newspaper. Melanie reasoned that it's probably the financial section. On Michelle's advice, she donned her glasses (figuring Nick would like an intellectual type), and shimmied over to his table. As they chatted, Nick's phone rang. It was Stephanie, who begged him to come rescue them from the jail on Rue Armand. She added that Melanie is a con artist, prompting a knowing smile from Nick. Melanie wanted to know who was calling, asking if it was his girlfriend. She was pleased to hear that he's single and invited him to go get lunch. He said that he had to go on an errand to take care of a stolen passport, but suggested she go with him and then they'd get a late lunch. Mel scampered back to Michelle to let her know that she has a new sugar daddy, then she left with Nick. When they got to Max and Steph's jail cell, Melanie asked if this was, "an ambush."
A martini-swilling Nicole was vexed when Trent approached her at the Brady Pub. She bristled when he kept referring to her as his wife. When he threatened to tell Victor that his marriage to Nicole was invalid, she piped down. Trent wanted help involving Melanie. After she prodded, he admitted that Mel is his daughter, but warned that she keep that info to herself. Trent wanted Nic to find out if Melanie had run into Max, making it clear that he wants the sibs to steer clear of each other.
In her room at University Hospital, John was concerned when Marlena seemed to not recognize him, but the patient explained that she's just fuzzy. "You thought I'd forgotten who I am, wouldn't that be ironic," she said. He asked if she remembered what happened to her and she recounted being accosted in her bedroom by a masked man who injected her with something. She cried that Stefano is behind it and that he gave her the same drug she gave him. Marlena wept as she recalled how she felt herself slipping away. John asked her not to cry. Lexie arrived to check out the patient and was pleased to see that Marlena's memory is in tact. When John asked about Blondie's outlook, Marlena snapped, "Why do you keep pretending to be concerned about me?" He retorted that she'd be in a coma if not for him. Lexie took John outside and asked him to avoid upsetting Doc Evans, explaining that they don't know the residual effects of the toxins. He went back into Doc's room and vowed to protect her from Stefano. He wanted her to come home with him when she's released, but Marlena said that she can't do that.
At the DiMera mansion, Lucas announced to Sami and EJ that he's taking his daughter. EJ threatened to send Lucas back to jail. Afterward, EJ tried to assure Sami that manse is sealed tight and the twins are secure. Maggie and Mickey arrived and asked if Lucas is sure he wants to take Allie away from her mother, but Lucas insisted that he wants sole custody. Mickey went to talk to Sami. She said that Lucas won't get custody, but Mickey pointed out that with Stefano on the loose, Lucas may have a case. Meanwhile, Lucas confided to Maggie that he really likes Chloe, but she advised him not to, "replace one bad choice with another."
Tuesday
Nicole sat with Trent at the Brady Pub and questioned him about Max and Melanie. He refused to answer, then manhandled her and threatened to tell Victor the truth about Trent and Nicole's marriage and how she defrauded Mr. K. Trent's phone rang; turns out, Melanie maxed out his credit card. "Girl after my own heart," Nic winked.
At the Marseille jail, Melanie asked Nick why he didn't tell her he knew Max and Stephanie. Nick asked if it would have made a difference. No, she shrugged. Steph came down on Mel for the fact that it was her fault they were in jail. Melanie and Steph bickered. Max urged them to cut it out. Steph called her parents, but worried when there was no answer. She panicked that something happened to Joe; Max urged her to think good thoughts. He said he'd call Caroline. "Don't tell her we're in jail," Steph advised.
Caroline chatted with Chelsea at the Pub and remarked how she heard Chels was doing a good job at the hospital. She felt Chelsea found her calling there. Chelsea ordered a drink to go, then Victor walked in with Henderson. Caroline spied Victor and approached his table. He wanted to order, but she refused to give him a menu. "You're not welcome here anymore, Victor," she said coldly, explaining that she was furious that he had put Bo at risk. He asked her to sit so he could tell her why. "The evidence had to do with Philip. It cast suspicion on something he did not do," Vic said. She asked what he did with the evidence. Victor said he destroyed it, which only infuriated her more. He apologized and left. She told him not to come back. "I wish Bo had never found out you were his father," she snarked.
Max called Caroline. Trent eavesdropped. Max told her Nick had joined them. "Nick is in France with you?" she said. Max asked her not to tell Trent they were all there. She said she wouldn't, unaware that he was already listening. Max hung up. One of the cops told them that bail was set. Melanie giggled when she heard how high it was. Max threatened to call Trent if his sister didn't help them. She begged him not to. Max told her she better get them out of jail then.
Daniel gave Philip a checkup at the hospital and reported that Phil's wound was healing nicely. Kate came to pick up her son. She then excused herself to make a call. Daniel finished up with Philip, then went out to talk to Kate. She admitted to him that she had a sense of dread that Chelsea was going to learn the truth about them. Daniel said it wouldn't happen. He then suggested Kate wanted Chelsea to find out since she kept bringing it up. They argued. He wondered if Kate still had feelings for him. Kate called him arrogant, insisting she only cared about Chelsea. He apologized. They discussed Philip. She rued the day Philip got involved in the Kiriakis family business. He pressed, but she clammed up, noting everything she did was to protect the people she loves.
Chelsea went to the hospital. She was with one of her patients when she ran into Philip. He commended Chelsea for working so well with the girl. She asked Philip if he had seen Daniel. Yes, Philip replied, he's somewhere with Kate. He then noted that it seemed that Chelsea had something on her mind. She said yes, she was thinking about what happened at the church with Bo and Hope and deduced that it had something to do with Victor. She asked Philip if he knew what was going on. He didn't reply, so she realized that he was involved. Philip brushed it off, saying Bo made a bad choice, then said that was an oversimplification. They bickered. After, Chelsea found Daniel — and he was hugging Kate.
Bo and Hope discussed the Hollingsworth case. Roman came upon them and said he wasn't at liberty to weigh in since Bo was under investigation. "I need to talk to you, not as my boss, but as my brother," Bo plead. Hope asked Roman to hear Bo out, but Roman said he couldn't. Bo advised him to get off of his "moral high horse" and listen. Roman said he would. Bo handed over the original tape of Paul and Philip's conversation and revealed he made a duplicate tape and pulled a bait and switch by giving Victor the copy. Roman asked why he didn't come clean sooner. Bo explained that he was trying to smoke out John in the process. Roman gave Bo 48 hours to find Paul. Victor ran into Bo down and apologized to him for compromising his job and his life. Bo wasn't too receptive. Philip then called Bo and told him that he wouldn't let his brother take the fall for him.
Wednesday
Bo and Hope waited for Philip at the Brady Pub, while outside, Morgan
angrily confronted Philip, accusing him of offing her father. She lamented trusting him and slipped about a "fantasy," which piqued Philip's interest, but she clammed up. Cue Morgan's vision of dancing cheek-to-cheek and smooching Kiriakis. In the meantime, Philip joined the Bradys in the pub. Shortly after he arrived, a woman handed Philip a subpoena.
At University Hospital, Chelsea walked in as Kate and Daniel were standing thisclose and speaking in hushed tones. After some awkward chit-chat, Chelsea asked Daniel to meet her for dinner and Kate excused herself. Chelsea and Daniel agreed to meet at his place and he gave her a key. While Chelsea was at the good doctor's pad, setting the mood with music and candles, Kate returned to Daniel and announced that she thinks her granddaughter suspects something. Dr. Jonas assured that Chelsea, "will never know."
Marlena declined John's offer to move back to the DiMera mansion once she's released from the hospital. Marlena said that John isn't the man that she married. He countered that the new John will protect her, just like the old John did. "I'm sorry, that isn't what I want," she answered. John chalked up her reaction to the after-effects of the toxins and talked over her protests, saying that the doctors need to run more tests. When Roman arrived, Marlena announced that she's made a decision about who she wants to spend her future with and right now, it's not John. She reminded John that he's not her only great love, stating: "before you, there was Roman." "Oh, this is crazy," argued John, insisting that she return to the mansion. Roman agreed that Marlena needs protection from Stefano — but not at the
DiMera estate. John asked to speak to Roman outside, then warned him to steer clear of his wife. They returned to Marlena's room and John asked Marlena to help him get back the old John. She responded that the disk is gone, so he won't ever get back to the old John. John and Roman were shocked to hear that Stefano got his hands on the disk. Marlena recounted: "He was in here during the lockdown. He showed it to me — the same one. I recognized the way it was broken." John vowed to get the disk back, but she said that DiMera destroyed it. John refused to give up. When they were alone later, Roman advised Marlena to go home when she's released, but that he will stay with her as her guard. John returned to the room and gave Blondie a kiss before leaving. Outside the room, he sarcastically congratulated Roman.
Chelsea, clad in a black, see-through nightie struck sexy poses on Daniel's bed. He arrived home and she kissed him and shimmied in a seductive manner. When he asked if she was sure about this, she advised him to quit yapping. After he hurried to shower, his phone rang. Thinking the doc was being paged by the hospital, Chelsea picked up the phone. When Daniel returned, Chelsea was already dressed. She tersely reported: "You got a text message. 'Daniel,
thank you for tonight, although I think it's best we never speak of what happened between us again.' It's from Kate." Daniel said he could explain, but Chelsea called him a son of a bitch. She then went to meet Kate at the hospital and blasted, "I know about you and Daniel." Daniel ran up to them and apologized to Chelsea. Kate tried to silence him, but Daniel announced, "She knows that you and I slept together."
At the pub, Morgan thought she saw Paul outside and raced after him, but she couldn't find him. Morgan ran around outside calling out, "Daddy! Daddy!" Nearby, Paul hid as he watched his daughter. Morgan filled in Abe, Bo, Philip and Hope on the sighting and the cops went to investigate, while Philip stayed behind to say that he hopes Paul is alive and that he still has a shot with Morgan.
Thursday
Steve worked on his laptop at the Pub. Caroline told him that she made some soup that she wanted him to take home to Kayla. He said he had some work to do first on his new Web site. She asked what it was for. He told her he opened a private eye business and gave her a card. She said she didn't know he was thinking about doing that. "I don't have too many marketable skills," he noted. "There's no radio format for blues harmonica. All I really know how to do it get into trouble, get out of trouble." She congratulated him. They discussed parenting and how much they missed Max and Stephanie.
In France, Melanie brought a candy bar to an imprisoned Max. She remarked that Nick was cute and would soon be rich because of his invention. She also noted that she didn't like Stephanie. Max pointed out that the feeling was mutual. He asked if she had gotten in touch with her friend Tiffany, who could help spring them from jail. He reissued his threat to call Trent if she didn't. Melanie called his bluff, but Tiffany arrived before Max had to make the call. Once Melanie explained that Max was a famous racecar driver and that he would have dinner with Tiff to make up for the stolen bracelet, Tiffany decided to drop the charges. Spying Steph, Tiffany had one condition: She would have to go out with Max alone. Steph got wind of the deal and privately told Max that it was "so messed up." She reiterated that Melanie was trouble. "Hey, I heard that!" Mel exclaimed.
Nick's cell phone rang while he was in the bistro; it was Trent. He asked why Nick canceled a meeting with the grant committee. Nick fibbed that he had to leave town for a family emergency, though Trent knew exactly where he was. Trent said that he needed to overnight blueprints to Nick and asked where he was staying. Nick made an excuse and hung up quickly.
At the Pub, Trent approached Steve and asked if he could hire him to do some private investigating. The dean explained he needed Steve to track down Nick Fallon. Steve told Trent he gets $250 a day, plus expenses, and needed a couple of days up front. They made a deal. Trent then asked about Stephanie. "Do you know her?" Steve replied. "Actually, I do," he said, elaborating that he met her through Max. Trent poked around about Steph and Max's whereabouts, which put Steve on alert. Trent left; Steve reported into Caroline about the dean's inquiry. They both agreed he was trouble.
At the hospital, Daniel apologized to Chelsea. "Sorry that you got caught," she snarked. "No, no, it's over," he insisted. She said he was right — they were over. He explained that he meant him and Kate. Kate tried to stop him from saying anything more, but he admitted to Chelsea that he slept with her grandmother. Chels said she needed time to think, just as Theo ran up, with Lexie on his heels. Chelsea offered to take Theo to his appointment, but Theo was feeling needy for Lexie, so she took him instead. Once alone again, Kate told Chelsea that they needed to talk. Daniel tried to explain that he and Kate only had a fling, and it was before he and Chelsea even got together. Chelsea wasn't interested in hearing their excuses.
Later, Lexie stopped Daniel and asked what was going on. He said he and Chelsea had hit a bump in the road, but that he didn't want to talk about it. She said it might help to get it off his chest, so he admitted that he slept with Kate and Chelsea found out at "an extremely inopportune moment." He feared he messed up the best thing that's happened to him in a long time. He told Chelsea how he wound up with Kate. It was when Chelsea was in the hospital and Daniel realized that she was infertile as a result of the surgery he did. He got drunk and Kate came to the bar and one thing led to another. Lexie advised him to give Chelsea time. After, Lexie ran into Chelsea and asked if she needed to talk. Chelsea said no, so Lexie just gave her some advice, which was to remember that there are two sides to every story. Chelsea found Kate and Daniel after and said she needed to talk to them.
In Marseille, Max had dinner at the bistro with Tiffany. A pouty Steph hung out with Nick at another table. Nick pointed out to her that it didn't look like Max was having fun. At the other table, Tiffany assured Max that she wasn't trying to steal him from Steph. He relaxed more. Tiffany warned him that Melanie was horrible. Melanie approached Nick and suggested that they get to know each other better. Steph's cell phone rang; it was Steve. She was relieved to hear from him and asked what happened at the hospital. Steve assured her that he, Kayla and Joe were all fine. He then alerted her that Trent was looking for her and Max and that he knew Nick was with them. Steve wanted to come get them, but Steph told him he was being ridiculous. She said they would be on the next plane home and spied Tiffany kiss Max. Tiffany left, so Steph asked Max what that was about. Max said Tiffany kissed him, but that Steph was the only one he wanted to kiss. And did.
Friday
At the hospital, Lexie prepped Theo for his therapy appointment, explaining that Chelsea would not be there. John approached her and loudly demanded to know why Marlena was missing from her hospital room. Lexie admonished him because he was scaring Theo. She suggested that Doc Evans had been taken for tests, but John said he checked with a nurse and that wasn't so. Lexie brought Theo to his appointment, then reported to John that Marlena's things were gone and it appeared she just left. A concerned John went to look for her himself.
Marlena went to her office. Her assistant was surprised to see her, explaining she had canceled her appointments. Nevertheless, there was a walk-in patient waiting in her office. Marlena sat with Dora, who cried that she had trouble getting out of bed in the morning and felt paralyzed. Marlena assured her she wasn't paralyzed and had to take control of her life. Doc Evans explained that Dora was the only one who could help herself. "You're responsible for your own happiness, your own destiny," she explained as Dora cried. John barged in during the session. "What are you doing?" John demanded, reminding Marlena she was supposed to be in her hospital room. Dora hurried out. John admonished her for not following doctor's orders; she stood her ground and told him she didn't need him to take care of her. She didn't think she needed him in her life at all, she added. John asked if she was playing games with him. "For months, all you wanted was for me to be in your life and now you're pushing me away," he said. "What changed?" She exploded that what changed was that she nearly died and got a lot of perspective while lying in that hospital bed. She explained that she needed to move on with her life — alone — and had to make a clean break. He admitted that he didn't want to lose her and finally realized how important she is to him. "Are you saying you love me?" Marlena asked. "No!" John replied, then backpedaled, saying that he remembers feeling a really tight grip around his throat when she was fighting for her life. He said he thought about her teaching him about tenderness and love and their lovemaking at the plane crash site. She began to weep and as he told her that he worried he'd never hear her voice or see her smile again, she melted in his arms and they hugged. He smiled to himself. They began to make love.
At the Pub, Kate talked with Daniel about Chelsea. He admitted he was happy the truth was out because he felt like a dog keeping it from her. Chelsea came upon them talking and sat down. She told them she believes that they're sorry and that it didn't happen when she and Daniel were together, but wasn't sure how to get past the fact that her boyfriend slept with her grandmother. They recounted to her how their hookup happened. Chelsea told him that Kate knew how Chelsea felt about Daniel at the time they got together. Kate explained that she thought it was just a crush and that Chelsea still loved Nick. "I felt that if you got involved with Daniel, you'd get hurt," Kate said. "I was afraid of the same thing," Daniel added. "Well, what do you know? You were both right?" Chelsea stated. Kate excused herself to take a call. Daniel tried to appeal to Chelsea. "You're a player, just like everyone warned me. And not even a girl's grandmother's safe around you," she said. Snap! She then said she didn't think she'd be able to forgive either him or Kate and walked out. She went to the hospital, where she ran into Lexie. Lexie asked if she had spoken to Daniel. Chelsea said she tried and that she wanted to get past it, but that she and Daniel were over. "We're finished," she said.
EJ was at the mansion, talking on the phone with Mickey when Anna and Tony arrived with boxes. Tony explained they were moving in. "I have just as much right to be here as you do," Tony pointed out. Anna noted that neither EJ nor Tony had any right, seeing as how Stefano disinherited them. The brothers talked about teaming up against John and claiming what's rightfully theirs. Anna fretted about Tony taking on John. He assured her he was going to be fine and planned to restore the DiMera name to its former glory. She went off to find a housekeeper to help unpack their things. Once alone, EJ told Tony that he had made inroads with John. Tony was sure the time was right to bring Black down. A man rang the bell; he had a delivery. It was all of Stefano's favorites: strega, cigars, champagne, opera and a TV show DVD. Tony suspected the Phoenix was trying to unnerve them, but EJ insisted their father wouldn't do that. He was coming home, EJ declared. Anna got teary and panicky; Tony reassured her that everything would be okay. "You're scaring me," she admitted. He said he didn't mean to, but major housecleaning was in order and John should be the first to go.
After, John and Marlenas office romp, he exclaimed, "That was SENSATIONAL! I knew I could win you back." And appalled Marlena asked if that's why he had sex with her, as a challenge. "Absolutely," he responded, then backpedaled again. His cell phone rang; it was EJ, advising him to come home to the mansion. Marlena rushed to put her clothes on. John insisted that she come with him to the manse. At the door of the house, Marlena told John that having sex was a mistake. He grabbed her and kissed her. She said she was staying for one night only. They walked in and were stunned to see all the boxes. They went through them and saw all of Stefano's favorite things. EJ entered and noted that Stefano was probably not far behind. John said Stefano would reclaim the DiMera empire "over my dead body." In the other room, Tony answered the phone. It was Stefano, who told him to get his room ready because he was coming home.
