Monday
Nicole wondered how Chloe ended up in a coma. Brady explained she was poisoned and Daniel was arrested for the crime. Nicole refused to believe it. Daniel and Chloe loved each other. Nicole said Chloe told her that and that Daniel was moving on with another woman. Brady said Daniel never mentioned another woman to him, only how deeply he loved Chloe. Nicole wished Chloe would wake up and explain it all. In the interim, she suspected Kate. This kind of revenge was her style.
Kate prepared to leave the mansion. Victor noted going on the run made her look guilty, which she was, and expressed his furor over what she was trying to do to Daniel. Kate explained she was moving in with Lucas. Victor couldn't believe it, considering she poisoned Chloe. Kate insisted she did nothing. Victor scolded Kate for framing his godson, because he dumped her for a younger woman, not because Chloe cheated on Lucas. Kate swore that wasn't the case; then, told Victor she wasn't going to move in with Lucas. She was going to find a place for her and Philip. Kate played up how Philip loved her and would hate Victor if he turned her in. Victor said Kate could stay. Brady arrived and asked about the luggage. Kate noted she was considering getting her own place, but Victor convinced her to stay. After Kate left, Brady asked what was going on. Victor dodged.
Stefano tried to convince Meredith that Sami deserved to know everything about Rafe. Meredith said she'd told Sami her suspicions about Rafe. "But did you give her the details?" asked Stefano, insisting it was Meredith's responsibility to do so.
Nicole returned home and told Stefano about Chloe. Stefano tried to raise her spirits, telling her the situation with Rafe had been taken care of. "I changed my mind. I want you to stop going after Rafe," announced Nicole. Stefano couldn't believe his ears. If EJ ever discovered the truth about Sydney, Nicole would lose everything. Nicole noted everything Sami had already been through. Stefano realized Nicole was feeling guilty for taking Sami's child. He urged her to let that go and never look back.
Rafe remembered his talk with Meredith, while Sami slept. The phone rang, and it was Caroline, noting Chloe had been poisoned. Sami tried to call Lucas and Will to no avail. Sami went off on Chloe for cheating on Lucas, noting she brought this on herself. "So you're saying Lucas poisoned her when he found out?" asked Rafe. Sami insisted Lucas would never do that. It was Daniel, the man Chloe had her affair with. Rafe couldn't believe it. Sami said people did crazy things sometimes, even if they loved someone. Later, Sami apologized for her remark. Rafe knew Sami wasn't talking about him and Emily and noted how they loved and trusted each other.
"You expect me to believe that my own mother tried to kill my wife?" barked Lucas. Daniel explained that Kate knew about his affair with Chloe and wanted revenge. Lucas wondered why Kate hadn't told him anything. Daniel reminded Lucas how he fell off the wagon and almost got himself killed when Chloe broke off their engagement. Lucas didn't get why Kate hired Chloe and Daniel to work for Hearth and Home. Daniel explained Kate did all this to avenge Lucas's honor. Lucas accused Daniel of trying to kill Chloe and framing Kate. He noted Chloe was onto him. That's why she told Lexie to keep Daniel away from her. Daniel called Lucas "a fool." If he really loved Chloe, he'd keep Kate away from her. Daniel asked Lucas to have Lexie come see him. He had ideas on how to treat Chloe. Lucas refused. Daniel swore Chloe would admit the two of them were in love and that she was going to leave Lucas for him, if she survived.
Kate returned to Chloe's room and rambled on about Daniel. "I think I was falling in love with our Daniel, but now neither of us will ever have him because of you," sighed Kate.
Meredith wrote to Sami about how Emily and Rafe went out for a drive on their wedding day, but the car smashed into a tree and Emily was declared dead on the scene. "If only my sister had known what Rafe was really like, maybe she'd be with us," wrote Meredith, noting that when Sami got this letter Rafe would think her revenge was over, but he'd be wrong.
Tuesday
Arianna met Troy in the park, where he came on to her and they exchanged money for drugs. Troy left and Bo happened by. Arianna put the drugs in her purse. Bo got a call and took off. Brady arrived with a picnic basket for two. He and Arianna got cozy and kissed. When Brady reached for dessert, he knocked over Arianna's purse. She scooped everything up, including the drug packet. Arianna looked at her phone and saw a message noting the shipment was en route to the pub. She conveniently spilled wine on herself, so she could go change. Later, at the pub, a man delivered a box and Arianna paid him. Brady walked in and wondered who the guy was.
Lucas and Daniel continued spatting; Lucas insisting Chloe wanted nothing to do with Daniel and Daniel insisting Chloe was in love with him and was going to leave Lucas so they could be together. "Your mother poisoned your wife because she decided Chloe wasn't good enough for you," spat Daniel. Lucas refused to believe it and called for the guard to let him out. Daniel challenged Lucas, noting it was up to him to save Chloe.
Kate sat at Chloe's bedside, wondering if she was thinking about Daniel when she was marrying Lucas. "You made me do what I did," muttered Kate. Hope asked what Kate did. Kate said she lied to her son by covering for the cheating Chloe. Hope took out a tape recorder, so Kate could tell her side of the story. Kate 'fessed up to knowing about Chloe and Daniel's affair, but keeping quiet to protect Lucas. Kate's cell rang. It was Lucas, demanding they talk in private. Hope went to the jail to see Daniel. She mentioned seeing Kate in Chloe's room. Daniel freaked. "Kate knows what you're saying about her. So she can't make a move against Chloe," noted Hope. "You talk like you believe me," said Daniel. Hope said what she believed meant nothing. It was what the D.A. and a jury believed that mattered.
Kate met with Lucas. He was furious Kate never told him about Chloe and Daniel's affair. Kate insisted she was trying to protect him. Lucas admitted she was probably right, because when he did find out, he went on a bender and everything blew up. Kate was stunned Lucas remembered. "I had a nice talk with Daniel," revealed Lucas, noting how obsessed Kate was with the food on the TV set and accusing her of poisoning Chloe. Kate couldn't believe Lucas would take Daniel's word over hers. Lucas fumed at Kate and stormed off. Later, Lucas was at the hospital watching Chloe, while Kate entered Daniel's jail cell as he slept.
Melanie brought Nathan coffee and said she was buttering him up. Nathan surmised their dinner was off. Melanie confirmed her schedule got changed. She was bummed to learn Nathan had tickets for the concert in the park. Later, at the nurse's station, Nathan was about to do his medical tally, when Stephanie said she'd already done it. Grateful, he invited Steph to the concert. Melanie returned, and Steph said Nathan forgot to sign out. Melanie fixed that, forging his signature. Nathan raced back, realizing his error, when Lexie happened by with some interns wanting to look at his sheet. Lexie said everything was in perfect order. Nathan was perplexed. "Let's just say you've got friends," smiled Steph.
Philip got a call from Carlo, who wanted Brennan, the family doctor. Philip tried to call him, but he wasn't answering. Philip raced to the pier, where he discovered Carlo shot and called 911. Carlo asked Philip to look after his family. The paramedics arrived to take Carlo to the hospital, followed by Bo. "You better find out who did this," barked Philip. Bo said they might get the stooge who committed the crime, but the kingpins responsible for it kept their hands clean while their sons let them. He asked if Philip was going to be able to sleep tonight. Later, at the hospital, Carlo's wife, Joyce, arrived and flipped out at Philip when she learned her husband died. Philip promised her family would be taken care of. Joyce slapped him and ordered Philip to leave. Philip said how sorry he was. Later, at the pier, Philip contemplated everything. Steph happened by and realized something was wrong. Meanwhile, Melanie showed up at the Kiriakis mansion looking for Philip.
Wednesday
Daniel asked what Kate was doing in his jail cell. Kate went off on Daniel for ruining her life and her son's. Then, she grabbed Daniel and kissed him. Daniel pushed Kate away. He said he knew what she did to Chloe and wasn't going to let her die. Kate said Chloe was already dead. Daniel said Chloe was in a coma and tried to get Kate to admit she put her there. Kate pretended to be upset over what happened to Chloe. She mentioned Chloe's vow to God to stay with Lucas and that if she and Daniel were planning to run away, Chloe had broken it. Hence, God was punishing Chloe. Daniel countered that if Kate was right about God's punishment, she was going to hell. Daniel accused Kate of doing all this because she loved him and wanted to get back at him. Kate denied it. "I was using you for sex. That's all it was," swore Kate, accusing Daniel of trying to get her to confess and wearing a wire. Daniel ripped off his shirt, grabbed Kate's hand, and told her to frisk him. Kate screamed at Daniel not to touch her and noted she was comforted knowing he wouldn't be touching anyone ever again.
Philip told Stephanie leaving him was the best decision she ever made and that she should never look back. Then, he filled her in on Carlo's death. Steph knew Philip would take care of Carlo's family, because Philip was one of the good guys. She reminded him it wasn't too late to walk away from the Kiriakis lifestyle. Nathan interrupted. Steph introduced the two men. Philip told the pair to enjoy their date and left. Later, Nathan and Steph drank wine, and made a few toasts. Meanwhile, Philip was back at the Kiriakis mansion, when Carlo's widow, Joyce, arrived. She apologized for slapping Philip. Joyce swore she didn't blame him for Carlo's death and said she didn't tell the police who her husband worked for when they questioned her. Joyce asked for Philip's forgiveness. Philip showed her out and expressed his condolences.
Brady walked into the pub interrupting Arianna's drug exchange. Arianna said it was a wine delivery. Brady offered to help with the inventory in the back. The drug deliverer told Arianna he thought Brady would be trouble. Arianna promised she'd handle him. Arianna and Brady began discussing music. She mentioned having done dinner theater and that she plays bass. They talked about musicians they both like. Arianna played a song. Brady said he just bought it. They started dancing and soon were kissing. Brady decided it was time to get back to work and turned to unpack the box. Arianna freaked; then, covered by noting it was the wrong delivery. Brady kissed Arianna and left. Alone, Arianna opened the box and found the coke hidden inside.
Nicole had a cake for Sydney to celebrate each month sh e'd been with them. Nicole blew out the candles and wondered where EJ was. Turns out he was at Grace's grave, discovering her headstone was marked Brady, not DiMera. EJ arrived home and told Nicole. After opening Sydney's gifts, EJ made a call yelling that he wanted a proper marker on his daughter's grave, tonight. Nicole asked why EJ went to the cemetery. EJ noted having a dream about Sami and said she was haunting his subconscious. "Are you sure this is about Grace?" asked Nicole. EJ left for the cemetery. He grabbed a shovel and said he would finish things up. Nicole arrived. EJ swore he would have done anything to save Grace and cursed Sami, slamming his fist into the old headstone.
Lucas stood at Chloe's bedside, when her monitors went off. Nathan raced in, but everything was fine. Lucas asked how long this coma would last. Nathan didn't know. Lucas knew Chloe wouldn't want to live this way. After Nathan left, Lucas went off on his comatose wife, as Father Matt listened at the door. Lucas said that if it was true Chloe was going to leave him for Daniel, she deserved to rot in hell. The priest entered, and Lucas asked if he convinced Chloe to marry him. Father Matt insisted that was Chloe's decision. Lucas didn't understand why God would want Chloe to marry someone she didn't love. Father Matt promised to pray for Lucas and Chloe. He also told Lucas that to find peace, he must forgive.
Thursday
EJ woke up, thinking about how awful Sami is and how great Nicole is. Downstairs, Stefano assured Nicole that Rafe would be out of town soon. He told her about Emily and how she died tragically and how her sis was in town and was going to tell all to Sami. Stefano went to see Meredith after. She assured him that she made sure Sami knew everything about Rafe — and had a letter with details hand-delivered to the townhouse.
Sami and Rafe reveled in the normalcy of their relationship. He had some extra time to kill, so things got romantic, but there was a knock at the door. Rafe answered it; it was Nicole. She blabbed about EJ switching Grace's headstone the night before. When she got home, EJ demanded to know where she was. She tried to turn things around on him to cover. She finally "admitted" that she was shopping for Sydney. He didn't understand why she just couldn't have told him that. They kissed and made up.
Sami and Rafe went to the cemetery. She freaked out when she saw the DiMera name on Grace's headstone. They made a beeline for the DiMera manse. An argument ensued. EJ asked how they even knew about it since it had happened the night before. Gulp, thought Nicole. Sami covered that she visited every day and saw it. More fighting took place. Sami and Rafe took off in a huff. Nicole tried to talk to EJ about Sami afterward, but he shut her up and insisted Sami deserved to be punished.... Sami arrived home and found the letter from Meredith.
A rattled Stephanie spilled coffee on herself at the Pub. Roman came in and sat with her. She asked how to stop loving someone. He gave her some good advice. She told him about her date with Nathan and said that perhaps she could move past Philip. She left for the hospital but left a message for Nate thanking him for their date the night before. She added that she hoped they could do it again.
Melanie and Nathan ran into each other at the hospital. He asked her not to give one of the patients Maxim magazine because he had high blood pressure. She played it cool with him and sauntered off, which Maggie spied. Mags asked Nate about his love life; he said he went out with Steph, but just as friends. She asked about Melanie. He noted that it was clear Mel was mad at him about something. He took off. Maggie talked to Mel and deduced that Melanie thought she wasn't worthy of being with Nathan. Maggie gave her a pep talk. Mel tracked a sulky Nate in the park and tried to make up for her rudeness earlier. She asked him to hang out with her. He said he didn't have time for distractions. "Is that what I am? A distraction?" she asked, dejectedly. Before he could answer, she admitted that she worried he liked her more than she deserved and that's why she said no to dinner. She went to leave, but he stopped her and said they should give dinner another shot.
Mia and Will met up in the park. He told her about Chloe's poisoning.... Chad and Kinsey chatted at the gym about Will and Mia, who both then showed up. Chad talked to Mia about returning to Salem High and whether or not she had told Will. Kinsey, meanwhile, told Will she needed a friend because her parents were getting a divorce and she knew he had gone through that. She wanted to talk to get coffee, but he said he didn't have time. He advised her to talk to a counselor. After Kinsey left, Will's friend came over and needled him about Kinsey. Will said she was a bitch and not his type. The friend said that Kinsey was easy and went all the way. After, Mia confessed to Will that she wasn't a virgin.
Friday
Kate went to the Pub and spied Lucas at the bar. Lucas said he was suited up to attend Daniel's bail hearing to make sure it was denied. At the jail, Bo checked in on Daniel. Daniel was determined to get out and get to the hospital to save Chloe. Bo cautioned that it wasn't a good idea.... Dan was denied bail and was totally dejected. Bo was sorry for him. Daniel thanked Bo for sticking by him. Bo said he would do some more digging into the case. Victor then arrived and told Daniel he was able to get bail granted and Dan was free. Vic revealed he ponied up $60 million. "You're my godson. I held you in my arms and promised your parents and God that I would look out for you," Vic explained. Daniel figured that Victor knew who really did it and questioned his godfather.
At the hospital, Lexie noted that Chloe's brain function was diminishing. Abe visited her and said he had good news: Theo got into a mainstream school. She was surprised and worried that he wouldn't adjust. Abe confessed he had the same fears, but had to hope for the best.
Lucas visited Chloe and chided himself for believing in her and their love. "No forgiveness," he whispered, adding that it didn't matter if she lived or died because "they" were dead. Kate came in to overhear the last comment and asked if Lucas was okay. He said no, and that he never would be, then rushed out. Alone in the room, Chloe called out Daniel's name.
Nicole and EJ discussed Sami. Nicole noted that EJ had made Sami's life hell. He asked her to explain. She said how Sami had made a mistake and EJ wouldn't forgive her. She pointed out how Sami was still suffering over Grace's death. She then talked about losing a baby so emotionally that EJ asked if she was still talking about Sami — or herself. She covered, but he wasn't so willing to buy her lies this time, so he kept asking what was really going on. "Grace was my loss and she was Samantha's loss. Why are you so involved?" he wondered. Stefano called EJ during the chat, which saved Nicole from having to respond. But EJ said he wanted answers when he returned.
Sami got home and found the letter from Meredith. In it, Meredith said that Emily's death wasn't an accident. Sami crumpled it up, refusing to believe it was true. She then uncrumpled it to read it again.
At the gym, Mia confessed to Will that she wasn't a virgin. He saw Chad and asked if it was Chad. Before Mia could answer, Rafe came in and interrupted. He explained that he was working with the construction crew that was hired at the gym. Mia hurried off. Rafe told Will he was sorry to hear about Chloe. Will didn't really respond, so Rafe asked if Will and Mia were fighting. No, Will replied, but told Rafe that he just found something out about Mia and another guy. Rafe spied Chad and quickly summed up the situation. He gave Will some advice and cautioned him that jealousy was a killer and he shouldn't think about the past, but focus on the now.
Chad approached Mia in the park. She was crying on a bench. He sat with her and said it hurt him to see her cry. They talked things out about him disappearing from her life. He said he regretted that his parents sent him to boarding school. He said he never wanted to hurt her again. She explained that she wasn't crying because of him. Suddenly, Will arrived. Chad left and Will told Mia that he only cared about now, not her past. He then kissed her.
Rafe came home to find Sami upset on the couch. She asked if there was more to the story with Emily than he had originally shared. He asked if Sami thought he killed Em. She said no, she just wanted an explanation. He got mad, said he was done, and stormed out. He headed to the Brady Pub, where he overheard EJ leaving a telltale message for Nicole. Nic, meanwhile, arrived at Sami's place to talk. She could see that Sami was sad. Sami explained that Rafe left, really left. "I think he's not coming back," Sami cried, then broke down in Nicole's arms.
