DAYS Week of August 30, 2010
Monday
Stefano found Kate with Chad. After Chad left, Kate said she was sick of Stefano's secrets and lies. She talked about all the pain EJ caused by taking Sydney. Stefano said he suffered, too, swearing he didn't know what EJ did until afterward. Then, he had to protect his son. Kate balked. Stefano said he knew Kate would have done the same thing. Kate thought back to reading Chad's birth certificate and the boy being Stefano's son. She worried about losing her grandchildren. Will arrived on cue. Kate explained Sami's wedding was off, because Rafe revealed EJ hired Anna to take Sydney. Stefano swore the news came as a shock to everyone. Will left to go talk to Sami.
Daniel told Victor he was tired of the way Victor talked to Chloe and would be keeping her away from him. As he was leaving, Vivian arrived, muttering about Isabella's memorial. Vivian promised she'd handle everything, while Victor poured himself a drink.
Nicole gushed all over Chloe about her pregnancy. Chloe told her Daniel was the father and Carly promised not to breathe a word about her fling. Chloe opened Nicole's birthday gift; then, announced she was tired. Nicole suggested Chloe take a nap, while she hung out. George knocked on the door. Nicole assured all was fine and told Chloe he was her bodyguard. She needed protection. Nicole said she couldn't afford her apartment and had nowhere to go. Chloe invited Nicole to stay with her and Daniel. Nicole went to fetch her suitcases, when in walked Daniel. Chloe broke the news she'd invited Nicole to stay there. Daniel wasn't thrilled. Nicole promised it would only be a few days. Nicole headed to the guest room, and Daniel and Chloe discussed the situation. Daniel left to get takeout, and Nicole returned. Chloe asked why Nicole needed a guard. Nicole promised to explain, later. Chloe rambled about what would have happened if Daniel had found out about her affair. "Disaster averted," said Nicole. Daniel walked in and asked, "What disaster?" Nicole covered; then, decided to head to her apartment to pick up her things. Daniel volunteered to go with her. They needed to get a few things straight.
Arianna was stunned that EJ plotted Sydney's kidnapping. EJ knew he'd made a mistake and swore he'd see justice was served. He was going to see Nicole. Arianna told EJ he'd be throwing his life away if he went after Nicole. It wouldn't bring back his children. EJ rambled about everything that happened and told Arianna she should go. Arianna wanted to help. "I don't need help. I need hope," barked EJ. Arianna urged EJ to accept that he and Sami were over and left. EJ went to his bedroom and picked up a small gift Sami had gotten him and opened it.
Sami apologized to Rafe for letting EJ turn her against him. He brought Sydney back to her and never gave up until he got to the bottom of her kidnapping. Rafe was glad this was over. Sami realized she'd be better off alone than with EJ. She apologized to Rafe for everything she put him through. Rafe forgave her; then, turned to go. Sami stopped him, praising Rafe for how wonderful he's been to her. "You're my dream come true," she said. Then, Sami professed her love to Rafe. Rafe, in turn, told Sami he never stopped loving her. The couple kissed. Caroline interrupted, noting the kids were asleep and that Roman had cops watching them. Rafe invited Sami to his place to talk. As they left, they ran into Arianna, who said she knew what happened and was happy for them. Sami got a call from Will, who told her he heard what happened. Sami explained she was with Rafe. Will said he'd see her later, but needed to do something first. Arianna told Rafe she saw EJ and he was a mess. Rafe had no sympathy, noting EJ should be in prison. Arianna spat that Sami wasn't blameless in all this. Sami returned and realized Arianna thought this was all her fault.
Tuesday
Kate and Stefano assured Will they knew nothing about EJ orchestrating Sydney's kidnapping until now. Back at the mansion, Kate feared she would lose her grandson if he learned the truth and promised to leave if that happened. Stefano told Kate not to worry, swearing he'd take care of things.
Sami confronted Arianna about suggesting what happened with EJ was her fault. Rafe got Sami to back off and told Arianna to go comfort EJ. Arianna walked off. Rafe urged Sami to leave with him, so they could be alone. Arianna phoned EJ and left a message. Caroline overheard and chastised her for being sympathetic to EJ after everything he'd done. Then, she overheard Will talking on the phone to Lucas about Sami's latest wedding fiasco and how Stefano had nothing to do with Sydney's kidnapping. Caroline told Will nothing went on in the DiMera mansion that Stefano didn't know about. When Will defended Stefano, Caroline barked that he should grow up.
Rafe and Sami got hot and heavy at his place, when she stopped things. Sami said she'd almost married EJ and asked if Rafe wanted to know why. Sami explained it was because she saw Rafe kissing Nicole and had reacted immaturely. She told Rafe she'd come to see him, so he'd stop her from marrying EJ, and swore she loved him. Rafe swore he loved Sami, too, and they resumed kissing. Post lovemaking, Rafe whispered they were together now. That was all that mattered. Sami had a nightmare and cried out for Sydney. Rafe told Sami it was all a dream. She was safe now, and EJ would pay for what he'd done. Sami worried EJ would find a way around the law.
Alone in his bedroom, EJ remembered his spat with Sami. Lexie entered, shocked by why he'd done, yet knowing EJ must be devastated. "Homicidal, actually," answered EJ. Lexie hugged her brother. EJ couldn't believe he'd lost Sami forever, because of Nicole. He barged out, insisting she had to pay.
Stephanie flashed back to Ian showing her the changed paternity test results, when he arrived at her door. She told Ian things worked out well, because Daniel really wants this baby.
Philip and Melanie ran into Nathan at the hospital. Melanie noted Nathan was about to do his first solo surgery and asked about his arm. She told Philip how Nathan was hurt rescuing her from the guy at the clinic. Philip took Melanie aside and asked why she was keeping secrets. Melanie said she was trying to forget the attack. Nathan announced it was time to head into the OR. Stephanie arrived, and Melanie told her about Chloe's pregnancy. Nathan and Melanie headed to surgery. Philip and Steph shared some awkwardness. Nathan began the operation, when he suddenly flinched. He told Melanie his elbow was in pain. Melanie blamed herself and offered her support. Afterward, Nathan thanked Melanie for helping him through. Ian met up with Steph. She asked if he could find out if Philip switched the test results.
Philip went to see Chloe and expressed his relief over the paternity test results. He noticed suitcases. Chloe explained Nicole was staying there, because the DiMeras were after her. Philip wondered if Chloe had confided in Nicole. Chloe swore she hadn't, but knew Nicole would be supportive.
Daniel walked Nicole and her bodyguard home. Daniel wanted to know what was going on with her, noting he had to protect Chloe and their baby. George gave them a minute alone. Nicole didn't want to talk about it in public, but promised to explain everything later. Daniel left, and Nicole called out for George. To her horror, EJ approached, rambling that he'd had a bad day. When she asked about her bodyguard, EJ put his hands around his neck, as if he'd strangled him. Nicole ran. EJ chased her. EJ mentioned the guest at his wedding, who turned up with an unexpected audio wedding present. He spat that Nicole went too far this time. Nicole realized EJ wanted to scare her and make her grieve. "You go after people because you are dead inside," she told him.
Wednesday
Nicole pointed out that EJ blaming her for his problems was convenient. It let him skip over what he did to Sami and their kids. EJ insisted he protected his family. Nicole called him on
taking Sydney away from her mother and letting Johnny see how sad and upset she was. EJ yelled at Nicole to shut up, but she wouldn't. He sat down and told Nicole he was sorry. He'd had a rough day. Then, EJ grabbed Nicole by the neck, yelling that he asked her four times to stop talking. Daniel appeared and pushed EJ away from Nicole. EJ left, swearing this wasn't over. Nicole cried. Daniel consoled. Nicole explained that EJ paid Anna to kidnap Sydney to make Sami pay, she found out about it, and blackmailed him. Then, she handed the evidence over to the FBI. Daniel thought blackmailing EJ was a bad idea. Daniel, Nicole and George returned "home." Chloe was out. Daniel made Nicole a drink, while she wondered if EJ would really kill her. Daniel assured she was safe there. Daniel headed off to bed. Nicole thought back to her spat with EJ and realized this wasn't over while EJ was still alive.
Kate worried Will would learn Stefano knew about EJ's kidnapping plot and assume she was protecting him. When the time came, she wanted Stefano to make it clear she knew nothing about it, otherwise she'd leave. EJ entered and told Kate to get out. He and Stefano had family business to discuss. Kate swore she wouldn't let "that drunk" come between her and Will. Kate left. EJ told Stefano that Nicole recorded their conversation about Sydney and Rafe had it. Stefano wondered if it could be suppressed as evidence against them. Nope. EJ said he was taking his kids and getting out of town. Kate overheard.
Rafe told Sami he knew how to neutralize EJ and pay him back. Sami had to get sole custody of their kids. Sami worried that og they went to court EJ would expose all the horrible things she'd done. Rafe told Sami to negotiate with EJ personally and use the CD as leverage. Sami hoped the plan would work. Rafe went to make Sami a drink, when her phone rang. It was Kate, warning her that EJ told Stefano he planned to take the kids and disappear. Rafe returned and asked Sami who was on the phone. She lied that it was Caroline. Later, Rafe slept, and Sami snuck off.
Kate returned to Stefano's side. Stefano explained all about Rafe having the CD. Kate realized Sami would tell Will about it. Stefano vowed to fix things, promising Kate wouldn't lose her grandson. Stefano wanted to go out. Kate worried about leaving EJ home alone. Stefano assured he'd be fine.
Will and Caroline continued talking about Stefano and Will's naivete about the mobster. "How dumb can you be?" asked Caroline. Will said people were innocent until proven guilty. Caroline assured EJ couldn't have pulled this off without Stefano. Will spat that Caroline had no proof. Outside, Stefano and Kate went back and forth about the situation. Stefano vowed to take care of things, because he loved Kate. Stefano entered the pub, looking for Will. Caroline said he'd missed him, noting Will had a clearer picture of things now. Stefano swore he had nothing to do with the kidnapping. Kate said she didn't idea either. Caroline suggested they tell Will that and see if he believed them.
EJ was up his bedroom drinking. He picked up Sami's nightie and a picture Johnny made of their family drawing. Later, he was down in the living room yelling and drinking. He flashed back to playing cards with Sami and their family and glanced at pictures of them all. Then, he opened the desk drawer. EJ returned to his bedroom, thought back to Johnny, and cried. He remembered Sami chastising him at their wedding and Stefano scolding him. He picked up a gun and put it to his head. Sami arrived downstairs looking for EJ. She went upstairs and found EJ unconscious. She yelled that he wasn't taking her children away from her. Sami remembered back to EJ telling her Sydney was dead and a myriad of other things. She picked up the gun, pointed it at EJ, and fired!
Thursday
Chloe met Brady at the Cheatin' Heart and was stunned to find him drinking. She shared her pregnancy news. Brady was happy for her. Chloe told Brady that Nicole and her armed guard were staying at her apartment. Brady didn't care, swearing he was staying away from her. He advised Chloe not to get caught up in her drama either.
Maggie arrived at the Kiriakis mansion, and she and Victor began discussing Brady, who was off the wagon. Victor asked how they could help him. Maggie brought up Vivian's plans for Isabella. "It could make him feel the loss of his mother all over again," she noted. Then, she dropped the bomb: she was thinking about going away for awhile. Victor hated the idea. Maggie promised to make sure Brady was left in good hands. Victor tried to get her reconsider, when he got a call and excused himself.
Vivian rambled to Gus about her plan to bury Maggie alive to keep her away from Victor. "When she's dispensed with, I'll make Victor's home into a love nest," cooed Vivian, noting she knew it was time to strike when she learned Maggie was planning a trip. She asked Gus if he'd found a handwriting expert. Vivian had a sample of Maggie's writing and her stationery and would prepare goodbye notes to Victor and her family. She began dictating them. Suddenly, Brady arrived and asked Vivian what she was doing there. Vivian explained she had a sarcophagus made for Isabella. Brady told Vivian to get out of there and leave his mother alone.
Kate continued on her "I'm afraid I'm going to lose Will" rant. She assumed Sami was with her lawyer making sure EJ lost all rights to his children, but imagined Stefano and EJ had a plan. Stefano insisted they didn't. Kate flashed back to overhearing EJ and Stefano's chat. "I was thinking maybe EJ is considering grabbing the children and disappearing, and that will happen over my dead body," spat Kate. Stefano promised he'd handle things. Stefano and Kate arrived at the pier ready to head to their yacht. Victor emerged, noting he'd sent the driver away. He confronted Stefano about having one of his shipments delayed. Kate asked if Victor was going to retaliate. Victor thought back to his conversation with Rafe about Nicole and smiled that he already had. Victor said he'd heard about the wedding fiasco. He was surprised they were going on a boat ride, while EJ was home crying in his champagne. Victor threatened Stefano about violating the terms of their agreement, just as Maggie arrived.
Houseguest from hell, Nicole, woke up Daniel. She went off about EJ wanting her dead. Daniel told Nicole she was living in his home and needed to behave or she was out of there. Nicole relented, promising EJ wouldn't be a threat to Daniel and Chloe, but she wouldn't have a moment's peace until she took care of him permanently. Nicole summoned George from the hall and asked what was being done about EJ. George said charges were being considered. Nicole insisted George call Rafe and a fight ensued. Daniel intervened. He told Nicole that George was outside and Rafe would be there in the morning. Later, Nicole was reading, recalled a moment with EJ and Sydney, and started crying. Daniel emerged, and Nicole told him about all the plans she'd had for Sydney. She remembered having her ultrasound and her miscarriage. She vowed she'd land on her feet again. Chloe returned, and Nicole came clean about the CD: how Sami knew about it and EJ knew Nicole was behind it. Daniel and Chloe headed to bed.
Sami found EJ drunk and passed out with a gun in his hand; she picked it up, and shot him. She ran and ended up on the pier. Sami thought back to EJ and tossed the gun into the river. Then, she returned to Rafe and crawled back into bed. Rafe got a call, answered, and it was Nicole, rambling about how EJ tried to kill her tonight. Rafe hung up on her and asked Sami what was wrong. Sami claimed she had a nightmare. Nicole called back and yelled at Rafe for hanging up on her. She wanted EJ in jail for trying to kill her. Rafe told Sami that EJ went after Nicole. Meanwhile, Nicole tossed a glass and woke up Chloe and Daniel. Nicole apologized; then, told them how Rafe didn't care if EJ killed her. Daniel headed back to bed, and Chloe consoled Nicole, who went on about losing Brady and her job and how there was nothing left to live for.
Friday
Sami and Rafe snuggled and kissed. Sami turned away, admitting she was worried about her nightmare. Rafe vowed to protect her. Later, Sami dreamed of shooting EJ, when Rafe snuck up behind her and asked what she'd done. Rafe asked Sami to tell him about her dream. Sami said she didn't remember. The pair discussed Sami's aborted wedding and telling the kids EJ was out of their lives. He explained that everything he'd done was so they could have a future together. Then, he walked off, returned with a ring, and asked Sami to marry him. "You really want to have a life with me?" asked Sami, conceding her life was "a mess." Rafe called his "a drag," and he wanted it to be a mess with Sami. He proposed again, and Sami said yes.
Chloe and Nicole discussed her pregnancy, Brady's happy reaction, and what a disaster Nicole's life was. Nicole was glad Chloe's life had come together, now that she knew Daniel was her baby's father. She urged Chloe not to do anything stupid and wind up like her. The next morning, Daniel and Chloe were kissing, when Nicole emerged carrying her bags and noting she was leaving Salem. She asked Chloe for a loan. Chloe said sure. "No way," spat Daniel, noting the DiMeras were a crime family who had connections all over the world. If Nicole helped the government put EJ away they'd protect her. Daniel got a call. He hung up and reported he was off to do emergency surgery on EJ, who'd been shot.
Brady ordered Vivian to get rid of the sarcophagus. Vivian said she wanted to do something meaningful for Victor. Brady relented and left. Gus returned. Vivian told him what transpired. She wondered what Brady would do if he found out his mother's remains now lay in a pet cemetery. Brady returned home and started drinking.
Stefano and Kate boarded the launch to their yacht. Maggie assumed what was transpiring had to do with the phone call Victor got. Victor explained Stefano wasn't playing by the rules and he had to let him know he knew about it. Victor changed the subject, noting Maggie would have no fun traveling Europe alone. Maggie lamented that the man she wanted to travel with was gone. Victor insisted he was just being a friend. Maggie wondered if she was really his friend or just an instrument to get to Vivian. Later, Brady was at Maggie's house. They discussed his sobriety. Brady said Maggie didn't know him. Maggie begged to differ and noted all the problems life had given her, which led her to the bottle. "Why is everyone harping on this drinking thing?" asked Brady. "Because getting high is getting high," said Maggie, advising Brady to stay away from the people who led him there, like Victor. She urged Brady to get a job and move out of Victor's house.
Back at the mansion Gus handed Vivian an envelope with Maggie's forged letters and left. Vivian began reading them, when Victor walked in. She said she was reading legal papers. Victor announced he was sending Vivian to Tahiti, since his agreement with Stefano was over and things could get dangerous. "You really do care about me," uttered Vivian.
Bo and Carly went to the lake with Ciara, who whimpered that she wanted her mommy. Bo tried to console her. Ciara asked if Bo sent Hope away so he could be with Carly. Bo assured he didn't. Hope went away because she was sick. Carly intervened, noting Hope took pills that made her do bad things, but it wasn't her fault. Carly noted she had a little girl that she had to be away from, too. "I would never ever want that to happen to anybody else, especially to someone that I like as much as I like you," said Carly. Alone, Carly told Bo what he couldn't tell Ciara is that her mother had a breakdown over losing him. She could see it was killing him. "You need to tell me what you want me to do, and I'll do it," said Carly. "Even if it means the end of us."
Stefano and Kate returned to the DiMera mansion and wondered where EJ was. Stefano found a glass on the staircase and headed upstairs. He found EJ in the bedroom, shot and lying bloody on the bed. Kate walked in. "I think he's dead," wailed Stefano, ordering Kate to call 911. Soon, EJ's body was wheeled into the ER. Stefano begged Daniel to save his son.
