DAYS Week of August 4, 2008

Monday

Kate visited Victor at the hospital. They discussed his condition, then talked about Lucas and Philip. Kate went on about how "amazing" Daniel was, citing everyone he'd helped in their family. Victor commended Lucas on the brave undercover work he did, noting he was now free. Kate fretted Philip might be headed for trouble and told Victor about the e-mail the Salem PD received mentioning missing evidence and a police cover-up and the note Philip got saying, "I know your secret." Victor thought John had something to do with Paul's disappearance and wondered if he knew about the taped conversation between Philip and Paul. Victor wished Philip had never gotten involved in the shipping war and vowed to deal with John from now on.

Morgan arrived to visit Philip. They both admitted to having an amazing dream. Morgan kissed Philip and thanked him for saving her life. Philip said it was an impulse move, but that he'd do it again in a heartbeat. Morgan said she'd never met a man so infuriating, yet amazing. "Maybe that's what intrigues you about me," smiled Philip, suggesting they cut to the chase. They both knew what the other said. "Did you mean it?" asked Philip about Morgan's declaration of love. "Did you?" asked Morgan. Philip admitted he had.

Ava rushed into the mansion and told John she was being followed. John wasn't concerned. Ava was, fearing the cops were trying to pin Paul's disappearance on John. John said once the tape of Philip threatening to kill Paul surfaced, everything would change. EJ arrived and John left to visit Paul, who wanted out of lockup. John promised once the tape surfaced and Philip was defeated, he would get Paul to a safe place and bring Morgan to him. EJ informed Ava that Judge Fitzpatrick had been removed from her trial and replaced by a less sympathetic judge. EJ noted the DA had a copy of an e-mail Ava sent instructing one of her men to tamper with the plane. There was little hope for her case. John returned, but Ava didn't breathe a word about her dismal situation. John sensed something was wrong. Ava didn't want to talk and coaxed John upstairs for some sexcapades. Afterwards, she came downstairs, dropped off a note for John, and left.

Nick watched Premiere Party Girl's video blog and tried to call Max to tell him he'd found his sister, but they were cut off. Chelsea arrived and wondered why Nick was surfing blog sites. Lexie came in with Theo, noting he was going to therapy today and that she heard Chelsea would be assisting. Later, at the hospital, Chelsea took Theo to therapy. Suddenly, Tony rushed in and asked if Lexie had heard the news — Stefano had had a seizure and was being brought there. EJ arrived and was filled in on the news. Stefano's children wondered if he was coming out of his coma.

In France, Max kept his eye on Les, then saw Melanie arrive. Max tried to distract Les, but he saw Melanie, approached her and demanded his money. Max offered to give Lex all the cash he had, while Melanie watched. Les took Max's money and left. Melanie asked who Max was and what was going on. She could take care of herself and pay her own debts, showing Max her diamond bracelet. Max asked where she got it. Melanie wouldn't say, demanding to know who Max was. Finally, he admitted he was her brother. Back in The States, Nick tried to phone Max, to no avail. So he made plans to head to France to help him.

Hope was having breakfast with Ciara when Bo walked in. Hope gave him the cold shoulder. Bo sent Ciara off to brush her teeth. Hope couldn't believe Bo withheld police evidence to protect Philip. Bo insisted Philip's threat against Paul was said in anger. He didn't kill anyone. "It still doesn't make it right," countered Hope. The pair discussed the e-mail they received at the station and how they thought John was responsible for Paul's disappearance. Bo vowed to find out the truth. He noted that Hope was a cop, knew what he did, and was now an accessory after the fact. Was she with him on this or was she going to turn him in? Hope vowed to stand by her man. "Whatever happens, we deal with it together," promised Hope.

Tuesday

Melanie didn't buy Max was her brother. He explained it was hard for him to believe, too. He only recently learned about her from Trent and showed Melanie the picture he found of her. Melanie wanted to call their father. Max persuaded her not to. Stephanie arrived and Max introduced her. A fan interrupted, asking Max for his autograph. "You're Max Brady, the race car driver," gasped Melanie, who liked having a celebrity brother. She asked why Max didn't race any more. Steph tried to respond, but Melanie cut her off. Max's cell rang, and he left to talk to Caroline. Steph told Melanie how great Max was, but noted he was sometimes bad at judging people. Steph mentioned meeting Melanie's friend George, the guy whose credit card she maxed out. Melanie's cell rang and it was Trent. She said she needed money, since she gave her allowance to charity. Trent promised to wire her cash. Melanie didn't spill a word about Max. Later, Steph told Max what a piece of work Melanie was. Max defended his sis. Steph said she'd try to cut Melanie some slack. Melanie returned, but two cops carted her away. Max and Steph followed.

Philip was lounging in the Kiriakis yard when Hope arrived and said Bo‘fessed about putting everything on the line to protect him. She knew about the tape and Philip threatening Paul. Philip swore he didn't harm Paul and said the tape had been destroyed. He believed John was responsible for whatever befell Paul and asked if Hope was investigating him. Hope couldn't discuss the case. Later, Morgan arrived and told Philip she'd relieved Henderson of his duties and would be taking care of him. Morgan rubbed Philip's back with lotion. Philip turned over, inviting Morgan to move onto other areas. Morgan suggested he needed some ice water. Philip preferred a kiss. Morgan didn't want him overexerting himself. Philip tried again, but Morgan backed away.

John looked for Ava and found her "Dear John" letter, saying she'd left town. "Big mistake," droned John. The bell rang and it was Marlena, warning Stefano had a seizure and might be coming out of his coma. She was sure he'd be after John for taking over his empire. John said they were husband and wife and couldn't testify against each other. Marlena doubted there would be a trial. "Oh, there may very well be a trial...after I kill him," threatened John. Marlena wanted to deal with Stefano in a law-abiding way. "You mean, like you did?" asked John. Marlena swore there was no other way to neutralize Stefano. John left for the hospital. Alone, Marlena found John's letter from Ava, phoned Roman, and told him she'd split town.

EJ and Tony stood in Stefano's room. Tony worried Stefano would seek revenge on those who put him in the state hospital and suggested EJ rethink working for John. He was sure Stefano would want his empire back. Kayla reported Stefano's brain scan showed activity. John arrived and asked if he'd regain consciousness. Kayla couldn't say for sure. She asked Tony to sign some papers at the nurses' station. EJ followed. Tony went off to call Anna as Nicole arrived. EJ filled her in on Stefano possibly waking up. He feared there would be hell to pay if he did. Trent bumped into Nicole and asked what she'd learned about Max's trip to France. When Nicole snapped at him, Trent threatened to let Victor know she'd defrauded him out of a divorce settlement. EJ interrupted, took Nicole aside, and said he learned Max was in France with some racing pals. Trent, who overheard, told Nicole he was satisfied for now.

Marlena fantasized about approaching Stefano's bedside and him grabbing her. She snapped back to reality when John walked up behind her. Marlena vowed she wouldn't let John kill Stefano. "I doubt that you can stop me," said John. Marlena admitted regretting what she'd done to Stefano. John called it "simple justice" and was grateful. Marlena said she had to take care of John, but guessed Ava was doing that now. John noted things had changed and promised to "eliminate" the Stefano problem. After John left, Marlena entered Stefano's room. She asked if he remembered what she did to him, swearing she'd do it again in a heartbeat. Stefano opened his eyes and his monitors rang. To himself, he vowed revenge on everyone.

Wednesday

Chelsea and Bo were preparing for Hope's surprise when Maggie, Julie, Steve and Kayla arrived. Kayla, Maggie and Julie briefly discussed the Stefano situation. Hope walked in and wanted to know what was going on. Bo said it was a surprise. Julie told Bo and Steve to go, they'd tend to everything. Alone, Bo told Steve he ‘fessed up to Hope about taking the evidence in the Hollingsworth case. Bo noted someone else knew what he'd done and assumed it was whoever made Paul disappear. Namely, John or Ava. Bo vowed to nail the culprit. A hairdresser arrived to tend to Hope's tresses. Soon, Hope emerged with a fabulous new "do" and was dressed to the nines. Hope told the ladies she heard them talking about crawfish and gumbo and flashed back to being in New Orleans with Bo. Finally, Hope realized what was going on: she was getting married. After presenting Hope with something old, new, borrowed and blue, the ladies sent her off to Bo. A horse-drawn carriage arrived. Bo kissed Hope and carried her to it, as they reminisced about New Orleans.

EJ filled John in on the situation with Stefano. Then, he said he'd gotten a message from the DA that Ava jumped bail. John said he already knew; Ava left him a note. EJ said Ava would get the maximum sentence when the cops found her. John noted Ava was a Vitali, and they knew how to disappear. John wondered how the DA found out Ava split. He swore he didn't know where Ava went, but wouldn't tell EJ if he did. EJ told John to focus on his own trial. John contemplated Stefano regaining consciousness and wanting to resume his position as head of the family. "The time is near when you will have to make a choice," he told EJ. Then John phoned Marlena, saying they needed to talk.

At Stefano's bedside, Tony told Lexie he had a feeling their father was biding his time, waiting to make a move. When Lexie went to do her rounds, Stefano called out to Tony and instructed him not to tell anyone he was awake. Tony insisted Stefano needed medical attention. Stefano said if he was going to live, the person who did this to him mustn't know he was awake. Tony asked who did this to Stefano, when Anna walked in and gasped. Tony covered. He was only speaking to Stefano because the doctors said it might help him. Anna, who was carrying a cross, noted she brought it to stab Stefano in his black heart. Tony took Anna outside, and EJ returned to Stefano's room, admitting it was hard to see him like this. EJ apologized for sending Stefano away and said he hoped he'd be able to forgive him some day. As he turned to leave, Stefano called out, "Elvis." Outside, Tony told Anna that Stefano was awake and heard everything she said. Lexie overheard and gasped. Stefano stopped EJ from getting a nurse or calling Lexie, insisting no one could know he was back. There were things he needed to do. Stefano made EJ promise to keep his secret. Tony told Lexie that Stefano wasn't awake. He was just speculating. John went to look and Lexie followed. Alone, Tony told Anna he promised Stefano he wouldn't reveal his secret. Anna knew Stefano never wanted her and Tony together and worried something was about to happen. Later, John suggested giving Stefano drugs and sending him back to the state hospital. Lexie arrived to perform some tests, and Stefano's eyes opened. "I knew the bastard was awake," retorted John. Lexie pronounced him non-responsive, attributing his eyes opening to a muscle spasm and suggested electrotherapy. John was for it; Tony and EJ weren't. Lexie sensed something was amiss and asked her brothers what they weren't telling her.

Marlena was on the phone talking to Sami when a masked figure opened her front door and entered her apartment.

Thursday

Lexie asked why Tony and EJ were having a change of heart about Stefano. Tony said they should let sleeping dogs lie. "Father" wasn't going to be happy with any of them if he woke up. EJ concurred, noting Stefano "would be furious." He suggested letting things happen naturally. Lexie agreed and left.

Marlena received a message from John as an intruder watched her every move and prepared his hypodermic needle. Back at the hospital, John pressed a pillow over Stefano's face. When he got a call, he removed it and told Stefano he'd be back. It was Marlena returning John's message. John told her Ava was gone and accused Marlena of turning her in. Marlena said she had to contact the authorities and begged John not to do anything foolish. The intruder watched. Marlena asked where John was. He said he was with Stefano, but promised he wouldn't do anything to him...yet. There was something he needed to do first. John hung up, reinserted Stefano's breathing tube, patted the pillow atop his face and left.

Bo and Hope enjoyed their carriage ride, reminiscing about New Orleans. Soon, they were inside St. Luke's lobby, where Bo dropped to one knee and asked Hope to marry him again. "You know I will," she responded. Bo walked Hope inside, where their friends and family were waiting. Bo noted Shawn and Belle couldn't be there, but read a letter they sent. He talked about nearly losing his life and how much it made him appreciate what he had. He wanted to celebrate that and asked Caroline and Doug to officiate. Doug talked about once believing Bo was too much of a rebel for Hope, but eventually realized there was much more to him. Steve and Kayla spoke next, recounting the Bo and Hope's love story, starting with Oak Alley and leading to their wedding in England. Kayla recalled how the couple ultimately sailed off into the sunset. There were flashbacks of Zack's birth and Bo and Hope's Christmas Eve wedding; then, Bo and Hope exchanged vows and professed their love. When the time came to exchange wedding bands, Hope said she no longer had hers. Bo presented her with an exact replica of her old ring he had specially made for her. Soon, Lexie arrived, followed by John. Hope told Bo she didn't have a ring for him. Ciara came to the rescue. Hope noted it wasn't Bo's ring. Bo said it was the one his mother put on his father's finger. It signified a love that stood the test of time. Caroline prayed that God would continue to bless Bo and Hope. Doug gave Bo permission to kiss the bride. Then, Bo thanked everyone for coming and invited them back to the house for a New Orleans-style barbecue. Suddenly, a reporter arrived and surprised everyone by asking Bo for a quote. Not about the wedding — he asked Bo how he could sleep at night knowing he was a liar and a disgrace to the police force.

EJ returned to Stefano's room and prodded his father to wake up. He needed to speak to him again. Tony came up behind him, realizing EJ knew Stefano was awake. The two men walked outside and asked why neither had breathed a word to the other. Then, they returned to Stefano's bedside and asked what his game was.

Back at her apartment, Marlena suddenly noticed the intruder. "Stay away from me," she ordered. The intruder revealed his hand holding the needle. Marlena picked up a letter opener and threatened to use it unless the man kept away. Then, she tossed it at him. The intruder rushed Marlena and wrestled her to the bed. As Marlena screamed, he raised his needle and pointed it toward her.

Friday

Brad the reporter got in Bo's face. Bo fumed. Roman asked what was going on. Brad asked if the crowd wanted to know what Bo was hiding and told Roman and Abe that Bo had tampered with evidence. He had proof. Brad presented the anonymous email and read it. Kate asked Victor what he knew about this and wheeled him out. Abe calmed down the crowd, as John watched. Brad said Paul was dead and Bo was protecting his killer. Abe asked Bo about the evidence. Brad said there was a tape, but Bo got rid of it. Bo confessed it was true. Abe carted Brad to the station for a statement. Bo apologized to the crowd, said he knew what he was doing, and would accept the consequences. Hope wanted to go home, but Bo realized that wasn't going to happen. Roman concurred. Chelsea freaked, not wanting her dad arrested. Bo assured he'd be fine. Mickey volunteered to accompany Bo to the station, and Bo led his brother off. John watched and made a notation in his book.

At the Marseilles police station Melanie and a friend argued over the diamond bracelet. The friend accused Melanie of trying to sell the pricey bauble and demanded the cops search her for it. Max charged in and gave the girl her bracelet. Still, the gal wanted to press20charges. The cop tossed both Melanie and Max in the slammer. Melanie told the cop a sob story, but he refused to release them until someone posted bail. Stephanie arrived to help Max, but wanted no part of his spoiled brat sis. However, she quickly realized she didn't have enough money to bail out Max. Melanie suggested Steph hike her skirt and hit the streets to make some cash. Georgie showed up. Steph told him it would be a mistake to bail out Melanie. Georgie, who couldn't resist Mel, bailed her out anyway. After they left, Steph begged the guard for help, saying she couldn't be separated from Max. The guard solved the problem, tossing Steph into the slammer with him.

Morgan and Philip were playing poker, when her cell phone rang. When she saw it was her mother, she didn't answer. Morgan believed her mother didn't care what happened to her father. It was as if she never loved him. Morgan went on about missing her dad. Philip said he was sorry and tried to comfort her. Morgan asked Philip to make some calls to see if there were any new developments on the case. Philip agreed to oblige gave her a kiss. Kate arrived with Victor, who asked for a moment alone with their son. Victor told Philip the press found out about the tape and things didn't look good for Bo. When Victor left to take a call, Philip decided it was time to ‘fess up to Morgan. He told her about the tape and that he threatened to kill Paul, but swore he had nothing to do with his disappearance. Morgan slapped Philip and stormed off. Kate walked in and asked what was going on. Philip said he told Morgan about the tape. Kate said Philip was better off without her and promised she and Victor would protect him if the contents of the tape ever came out. Philip went after Morgan.

Stefano told Tony he wasn't sure whom he could trust, since both his sons betrayed him. He vowed to make everyone who betrayed him pay, admitting he knew John took control of his empire. Stefano noted John didn't know he was awake, and he was determined to keep it that way. Stefano remembered back to John taunting him about Colleen being his mother. Stefano vowed to make John his pawn again. EJ said he and Tony cared about Stefano. Stefano asked if that was why EJ revealed where John was being held captive. Stefano promised to make the person who put him the catatonic state pay, finally revealing it was Marlena. Tony and EJ were stunned and refused to believe sweet Marlena would do such a thing. Stefano insisted Marlena set out to destroy his life, and now he would return the favor. Meanwhile, Marlena lied on the floor, wavering between consciousness and unconsciousness, after having been injected by Stefano's minion. She reached for the phone, desperate to call for help, but to no avail.
