Monday
Hope tried to revive Bo, who was unconscious on the floor after falling off the ladder in their home. She rushed him to the hospital, where Kayla looked him over. She said he had "a severe case of Christmas-it is Stupid-itis." While Bo was getting dressed to leave, he had a flash of seeing a star and a tag that said "Grandma Caroline." When they got home, Bo asked Hope to get the star and he knew exactly where it was. She asked him how he knew. He covered. She went to make hot chocolate but picked up her gift for Theo and said she was excited to give it to him. After Hope left the room, Bo heard a scream.
At the Cheatin' Heart, Brady exposed Kelly as a fraud. Nicole accused him of trying to ruin her chances of finding a baby, which he denied. He asked Kelly to show them the photo of the father of her child. Brady recognized him as a rehab counselor and said that Kelly photoshopped it to look like a photo. Brady pointed out that she was drinking and smoking when he found her. An exasperated Kelly confessed that she wasn't even pregnant and yes, was planning to scam Nicole. After, Nicole knocked herself for being so easily duped. Brady urged her to tell EJ the truth.
EJ and Lexie exchanged harsh words about the mayor's murder at the manse. "You chose your husband's career over your conscience," EJ accused. The sibs argued over Stefano. Abe came in with Theo. They covered. EJ asked Theo what he hoped to get from Santa, but Theo was unresponsive. Lexie tried to get him to say something, but he wouldn't. Abe took him into the kitchen. Lexie broke down a bit to her brother. After, the Carvers left and went to the Pub to eat. Abe asked Lexie what she was talking to EJ about. She told him what happened. Abe scoffed that EJ had no right to point fingers. A woman walked in with a gift; Theo pointed to it and said he wanted it. Lexie and Abe were thrilled.
Sami paced around the loft, eager for Rafe to return. Hilda calmed her. Meanwhile, at the docks, Rafe — who had been stabbed — fought with the knife-wielding killer. When the attacker got the upper hand, he demanded to know where Sami was. Rafe played dumb. The men heard a siren, so the killer took off, warning Rafe that it wasn't over. Rafe returned to the safe loft with the laughing penguins Sami asked for. Rafe sent Hilda home, though she noted that he seemed off. After Hilda left, Sami noticed that Rafe was bleeding. He told Sami what happened and she was forced to stitch him up. Rafe drank to medicate himself and clean the wound. A panicky Sami confessed she had never sewn anything before, but was determined to try. She warned him that his scar would be bad. He said it would be a souvenir of their time together. A drunken Rafe called her an idiot for being in love with a man who didn't want her. Sami asked him if he had ever been in love. He said that love was for idiots and warned her to steer clear of EJ, who had moved on with his life.
At the mansion, Nicole asked EJ if he told her he loved her just because of the baby. He said the baby made him realize how much he loved her. He asked why she seemed so sad when he felt happier than ever. She covered that she worried she was going to blow it as a mom. He went to touch her stomach, but she pushed his hand away and stood up, claiming he was too sexy and one thing might lead to another. He joked that he had self-control, then went to make a business call. Nicole made a furtive call to Brady, insisting she'd get a baby, with or without his help.
Tuesday
At the safe loft, Sami tended to an injured Rafe. He wanted to call the FBI to see if the safe house was still safe, but Sami took his phone, saying she didn't want to go anywhere and besides, she noted, he was injured. Rafe got the phone and made the call, then reported to Sami that they were staying put. They bonded while she fussed over him.
Stephanie went to the Cheatin' Heart to talk to Max, who angrily told her he already knew what she wanted to say. "When you move on, you don't kid around, do ya? You just peel out, pedal to the metal," he snarked. She asked what he was talking about. He mentioned Titan and Philip. "Melanie," Steph huffed. Steph was annoyed, but admitted that she had developed an attraction for Philip. They argued over Melanie and why they broke up. Chelsea came in during their heated discussion and asked what was up. "Ask him," Steph fumed and left. Chelsea asked Max what was wrong; he told her about Philip and Melanie, then decided he didn't want to talk about it. She told him she was there for him as his friend. He didn't want to drag her into it, but she insisted. She said she knew Steph still loved him, but Max replied that he wasn't in love with Stephanie anymore. She called his statement a "flat-out lie."
At the Brady Pub, Philip waited for his coffee, thought back to his near-kiss with Steph and smiled. Lucas came in and they talked about Chloe. Phil congratulated Lucas on getting engaged to his ex-girlfriend. Lucas gave him a look. Philip asked what was wrong. "I love it when you remind me that my fiance used to be your girlfriend," Lucas noted. Philip admitted he was being a jerk, then revealed that he was ready to move on and had found someone. Lucas was happy and declared that it all worked out because Chloe was perfect for him. "Fourth time's the charm, huh?" Philip cracked.
Melanie visited Nick at prison. He was subdued and surprised to see her, since she hadn't responded to his letters. He said he had a gift for her, but first, wanted to be sure she forgave him. She said she did. Nick wasn't sure he could trust her. She went to leave, but he stopped her. "I hate myself. I feel guilty. I feel worthless, so it's hard for me to believe that you came here because you care," he explained. He then told her he wanted to give her all of the profits from his fuel project and added that he had worked out all of the kinks in jail. He told her he had switched attorneys and the papers were drawn. "I won't be able to sleep until you accept it," he declared.
Daniel visited Chloe in her room to do a follow-up examination. She asked if someone else could do it, then added that he seemed tense. He insisted he wasn't and insisted that nothing weird was going on between them. He said that she was making up tension between them in her head. She asserted that she had no idea what he was talking about. Philip came in, so Daniel excused himself. Once alone, Philip thanked Chloe for giving her bone marrow to Kate and called her a hero. Lucas came in after, so Philip left. Lucas surprised Chloe by showing her that he had her ring resized so it wouldn't fall off. Daniel went into an empty room and fell asleep. He had a sexy fantasy about Chloe, then woke up, startled.
Philip and Steph met up at the Brady Pub. He asked if she had made a decision about what they discussed the day before. She told him what happened with Max and Melanie and said that whatever she had with Max had officially been put to rest. A smirky Melanie came in while they were chatting and announced that her position at Titan was about to change.
Wednesday
At the Pub, Philip questioned Melanie about her new role at Titan. She triumphantly told them about Nick turning over the alternative fuel project profits to her. They were stunned. She detailed her ideas for Titan and for herself, including getting rid of the intern program, getting a corner office, a parking spot and two assistants. Stephanie and Melanie bickered; Phil told Mel she was "out on her ass." Melanie called him an idiot and told him she'd take her business elsewhere. Philip decided he would go see Nick himself and headed out. Steph and Mel went to Titan and Melanie unveiled her plans for redecorating the offices and told Steph to get on it. Steph ignored her. The girls squabbled over Philip. Mel made a crack about Philip being in her bedroom. "I don't think I'll ever forget that night," she purred. Steph accused her of lying. Melanie smirked and sashayed off.
At the jail, Philip tried to talk Nick out of giving Melanie rights to his project. Nick explained that Philip couldn't change his mind. A defeated Philip returned to Titan and reported to Steph what happened with Nick. She gave him his messages, then asked if he slept with Melanie. He denied it, then pulled Steph into his arms to kiss her. Once again, Melanie interrupted. She suggested that Steph become her intern since Steph and Phil had more than a professional relationship. Phil told her to take her project — and herself — elsewhere.
Bo saw the gift for Theo under the Christmas tree at the house and heard a scream. He ran upstairs to check on Ciara, but she was okay. Abe came to visit Bo and could tell his pal was rattled. Bo told him what happened with the scream. Abe suggested that he had more than a concussion.
Chelsea was with Theo en route to the Christmas tree lighting when she ran into a forlorn Max on the docks. He had the box from Trent with him and was debating setting the toy dog inside free. Max interacted well with Theo, which made Chelsea smile. The exes had a friendly chat and he asked if she was seeing anyone. Chelsea said no and that Theo was her main man. She asked Max what he was going to do with Charlie the dog. Theo pointed to the toy pup and said his name, which pleased Chelsea. Max gave Charlie to Theo.
EJ walked in on Stefano trying to make arrangements for the fancy OB/GYN to come to Salem to see Nicole. EJ told him to hang up, then hung up the phone for him, which enraged Stefano. EJ ordered his father to butt out of his and Nicole's lives. Stefano admired his son's spunk.
Nicole ran into Daniel at the hospital. He asked her why she had missed her prenatal appointments and suggested they do a checkup on the spot. She lied that she had an appointment at the groomer with Pookie and had to leave. He noted that she seemed nervous. She said she'd be more comfortable seeing another doctor since he was Victor's stepson and it was too close. She then revealed that she had switched doctors. He asked for a name so he could send her medical records. She claimed she was seeing her doctor later and asked for a copy of her file. He gave it to her and she visited Dr. Baker at the clinic. He was surprised to see her and refused to play along with her pretend pregnancy. She reminded him that EJ was a DiMera and made a veiled threat. Doc Baker capitulated — for a hefty price. She gulped that she didn't have that kind of cash.
EJ went to the hospital and ran into Daniel. He asked if the doc has seen Nicole. He said he had and she left about a half hour ago. EJ was surprised to hear that Daniel was no longer treating Nic. EJ headed to the clinic and found Nicole with her new doc. He asked what she was doing there.
Bo went to the hospital and got an MRI from Daniel, which was clear. Daniel noted that he thought stress was Bo's medical problem. He advised him to get some rest, exercise and lay off the caffeine and alcohol. Daniel left the room; Bo had a flash of a child in a hospital stretcher.
Thursday
At Titan, Philip fired Melanie, then he and Stephanie went into his office. Melanie dumped a bowl of candy in her purse, then called Victor's office to track him down. She pretended to be Chelsea and asked where he was. She took off. Philip and Stephanie were happy to have her gone, though Steph asked if he'd regret it. He said no. The power went out and Philip explained that it was part of a green initiative and the lights were timed. Now that it was
dark, Philip kissed her and she eagerly responded.
Melanie went to the Brady Pub and apologized to Caroline for not being as honest as she should have been about what happened the night Trent died. Caroline forgave her. Victor approached them. Melanie introduced herself and revealed that Philip had fired her, even though she was set to make Titan millions. Victor asked for details. He then went to Titan and caught Philip and Stephanie kissing. Steph hurried off so the men could speak. She went to
the Pub and had some chicken soup and chatted with Caroline. Melanie approached and revealed she went to Victor about Philip. "You have some nerve," Steph snarled. "Don't I, though," Melanie smirked. Back at Titan, Victor lit into Philip. "Melanie is a nightmare," Phil explained. Victor argued that it was business, but Philip was making it personal. They went back and forth. An irate Philip quit.
John met with Dr. Taylor and they made an appointment to meet after Christmas. Marlena came out of her office and ran into her ex. John was frustrated by the therapy sessions, but Marlena smiled that he once said the same things about therapy with her. Marlena asked John to spend Christmas with him. He said he'd have to consult Dr. Taylor. "I'll get back to you," he told her and left. After, Marlena chatted with Charlotte. Dr. Taylor said her greatest hope was to reunite John and Marlena. John returned and asked
Charlotte if it would be appropriate for him to spend the holidays with Marlena. She said to do whatever felt comfortable.
Rafe came out into the living room of the loft and found Sami wrapping up the gifts for her kids. He told her that since the killer knew who he was, he thought she should have a new guard. Sami got upset, so Rafe tried to calm her down. Sami added she was used to people leaving her, like Will, Lucas, Brandon and EJ. EJ again, Rafe noted. Sami defended herself, pointing out that EJ was the father of two of her children. They agreed to drop it. He put the gift Sami wrapped under the tree and found a gift there for him.
"Guess I wasn't that naughty this year, after all," he smiled. He made a call to his superior, which Sami listened in on. Rafe agreed to stay through the holidays. Sami smiled to herself, then stepped back into the bathroom and fell. Rafe called out to her.
At the clinic, EJ asked Nicole why she was there. She explained that Dr. Baker was her new OB/GYN, but the doc said nothing had been decided. "So let me get this straight. You dumped Dr. Jonas, one of the most esteemed physicians in the country for a man who practices medicine at the Fairway Clinic in the middle of nowhere?" he asked. Nicole told him that was a tactless comment to make within earshot of Dr. B. They had a quiet argument,
where she tried to explain that she didn't want to be treated by Victor's godson. EJ noted that there were other doctors at University Hospital. She pointed out that the Bradys and the Hortons ran the hospital and they all hated EJ, so that was why she wanted to be treated at the clinic. He said he was upset she was sneaking around. She tearfully tried to explain that she felt a connection to the doctor who saved their baby and she was more
comfortable with him. EJ gave in and said whatever made her comfortable was okay with him. He then revealed he set up a trust for their baby; she was overjoyed and saw dollar signs, but he said Nicole couldn't touch the money yet. She argued that he didn't trust her. He asked if getting an allowance would make her feel better. No, she replied. Dr. Baker interrupted them and asked if they had made a decision about her care. EJ said Nicole had chosen him as her doctor. They left. At home, EJ apologized to her if he caused her any distress.
Friday
During an argument with Victor at the office, Philip quit Titan. Papa K accused him of running away like he always does. Steph listened in on their argument. Melanie approached her and boasted that she had already gotten Steph away from Max, now she'd do the same with Philip. Back in the office, the back and forth between Victor and Philip continued. Philip insisted he couldn't do business with Melanie because she was so dishonest. Victor was disappointed that his son was letting a woman get under his skin that way, but remarked that he always did. Philip came out and found Steph and Mel. He left with Steph; Victor asked to speak to Melanie, who explained that she was there to clear out her desk and pick up her Titan Christmas gift. Philip fumed to Steph about Victor, but Steph gently reminded him that his first business rule was not to let emotion guide a deal. Philip realized she was right. She urged him to make up with his father. He called Victor and apologized. Vic gave Philip his job back. Steph was thrilled.
Daniel went to check in on Chloe and was surprised to find her gone. A nurse revealed that Lucas came and picked her up. He flashed back to his sexually-charged encounter with her. At the cabin, Chloe read a magazine. Lucas had a meeting, bt suggested going for a drive to look at Christmas lights in Chicago when he came back. They kissed; Chloe thought of Daniel. Lucas left; Maggie came to pick up Allie. She and Chloe has a good chat about Lucas. Lucas called Chloe to say that his car broke down and he was stuck at the pier using a pay phone because his cell died, too. When they hung up, she planned a Christmas surprise for him.
Daniel visited Kate. She asked him to do him a favor and handed him a necklace. She explained that it was for Chloe and asked him to drop it off at the Horton cabin. Daniel arrived at the cabin and Chloe opened the door in a red teddy, thinking he was Lucas.
At the DiMera manse, EJ told Nicole he wanted to sleep next to her and hold her. She said no. "You don't want me in your bed?" he asked, hurt. She said she didn't want to sleep with someone who didn't trust her enough with money for their child's future. EJ tried to explain that the money was in trust. He reminded her that he told her he loved her but she said she wasn't sharing her bed until the issue was resolved. EJ said she was acting weird and walked out of the room. She found him later and admitted that she was afraid of losing him. She apologized for acting crazy. He made a romantic declaration about his feelings for her and told her to stop worrying because that he would always look after her and their baby. They kissed. His hand rubbed her belly. "Wow, that feels different," he remarked, then added that it was bigger. They kissed. He asked if she had reconsidered and would let him stay in her bed with her. She put him off again. He went to get them some ice cream. The doorbell rang; it was Dr. Baker, looking for his money. Nic said she needed more time.
In the loft, Rafe was alarmed when Sami fell in the bathroom. She said she was okay, then was hit with a pain. Rafe called the doctor, who asked if the baby was still moving. Sami let Rafe touch her belly to feel that the baby was kicking. They talked about him leaving again; she said she didn't want a replacement agent. He agreed to stay. She got dizzy and had to sit down; he assured her he'd take care of her.
