Monday
Rafe had bad dreams about Sami. At the convent, Sami (a.k.a. Colleen) visited with Sister Theresa. She cried that everything was wrong and that she was afraid of the father of her baby. Sami was being evasive and the nun realized she just had to trust her. She gave Sami a cell phone, with her phone number already programmed in it. Sami hugged her and took off.
On the pier, the mayor's killer approached Hilda, demanding to know where Sami was. He got the upper hand with her and took her gun. Hilda played dumb. He pulled a knife on her and threatened to harm her family. She agreed to cooperate as long as he kept her family safe. Turned out, Hilda gave bad info about the safe house. The assassin then killed her and vowed to find Sami. Sami returned to the safe house and woke up Rafe. He thought he could trust her now that she hadn't sneaked out.
Stephanie arrived at the Kiriakis mansion for the engagement party. She and Philip kissed as Max walked in. Awkward! Max excused himself; Philip suggested to Steph that she should just act like it never happened. Kate and Chelsea waited for Lucas and Chloe to come down. In a room upstairs, Chloe was getting passionate with Daniel. Lucas arrived at the room and jiggled the handle to find the door was locked. He called out to his fiance, but she said she wasn't ready. He asked why the door was locked and what she had been doing all that time. Daniel and Chloe quickly got dressed, though Daniel urged Chloe to just come clean with Lucas. She ended up lying that she got into it with her mother and her makeup was all ruined. She asked Lucas to go downstairs. Back inside the room, Daniel implored Chloe to be truthful. She told him she hated him and walked into the bathroom. "It's too bad you don't," he said to himself. She came back out and they argued. She hurried out, looked in the mirror and called herself a slut.
In the living room of the K manse, Max and Chelsea talked about what had happened on New Year's Eve. He admitted that he liked being with her, but didn't do well with complexity and that it would be good if they could hang out and just "shut up about it." She thought it was a good idea. Kate came in, noting that Daniel, Chloe and Lucas were all missing and she felt like she was in a detective story. After, Chelsea told Max that Daniel and Kate were through. Max asked her if she wanted Daniel back. "No, that's gross. I might share recipes with the woman..." she laughed. "I think you're a class act," Max told her. She thanked him and they decided to ditch the bash and head out. Before they could, Steph and Philip entered and the four engaged in some chit-chat. Chelsea noted that Steph had her bag; Steph pointed out that Chelsea was wearing her earrings. Steph asked Max and Philip talked about 'da Bears and fantasy football. While they were busy on the laptop, Steph asked Chelsea what was going on with Max. Chelsea confessed that she didn't know yet. Kate came in and told them to get off the computer. Philip asked where Chloe was. Lucas said she was still upstairs.
At the hospital, EJ spied Stefano and asked him to leave since Lexie didn't want him there. The Phoenix wouldn't go and suggested EJ stop giving orders and take them instead. He told his son to do a report on the Pacific Rim.
Nicole came downstairs at the mansion, looking for EJ, but found Tony. She said she wasn't expecting to see him there. "I've been sort of relegated to the shadows lately," Tony explained, then reported that EJ was with Stefano on a business matter. "This is only the beginning," Tony smirked. He then mentioned the incident with Theo, which Nicole knew nothing about. "This is worse that I thought," Tony pointed out. He remarked that EJ would probably have a business trip when Nic was scheduled to give birth. She privately didn't mind. EJ and Nicole talked via cell phone and he updated her about Theo. She said she could go to the engagement party on her own if he was busy. He said that the party was important, too and would be home soon. When EJ hung up, Stefano noted that his devotion to Nicole was both admirable and a liability. EJ arrived home, which thrilled Nicole. She told him about her conversation with Tony. He assured her that Stefano wouldn't take over their lives. She said it was okay if EJ had to do business that kept him from her because she trusted him. He said he trusted her completely. They left for the party.
Chloe finally came downstairs and Lucas made a loving toast to her.
Tuesday
EJ and Nicole arrived at the Kiriakis mansion and promptly faced off with Victor at the front door. He told them to go home, but Nic insisted that Chloe was her pal and she wanted to stay. Victor uninvited them from the engagement party and tried to warn EJ about Nicole's lying. EJ came to Nicole's defense, calling Victor a "cranky, old bastard."
Insde the party, Daniel interrupted the proceedings to make a toast to Chloe, who was clearly uncomfortable. Victor entered and made some nasty cracks about Chloe and warned Lucas to "run like hell" from her. Lucas defended his fiancée. After, Chloe talked to Nicole and confided that she had made a big mistake. She said Lucas was a great man, but she wanted to do the right thing. Nicole said it was clear Chloe wasn't happy. Daniel came over, so Chloe quickly excused herself. Daniel asked Nicole about the baby. She said everything was fine. He said he didn't believe her. Across the room, EJ chatted with Lucas about Victor. Lucas noted that perhaps EJ should listen to any warnings about Nicole. "She might seem happy now, but a little time goes by, things might go bad. A girl like Nicole is never truly satisfied," Lucas pointed out. EJ responded that he keeps Nicole very satisfied. After, EJ collected Nicole and they decided to leave. Nicole's cell phone rang; it was Mia, who wanted to talk about her baby. EJ overheard and asked who she was. Nicole claimed that she met her at the doctor's office, then lied that she had lost a bracelet and Mia found it. EJ offered to go fetch it with Nicole, but she said he didn't have to. They returned to the mansion, where she called Mia and said she couldn't make it and would see her in the morning. Bring your fiancé, Mia told her.
Chelsea pulled Kate aside to ask if her grandmother was doing okay with the split from Daniel. Kate insisted she was, but asked Chelsea if she still had feelings for the doc. Chelsea said he was out of her system. Kate noted it was because Chelsea had moved on with Max. "Why does everybody assume that Max and I are a couple?" Chelsea wondered. Kate said it just looked that way. Chelsea insisted she and Max were just friends. Max asked Lucas if he wanted a bachelor party with strippers. No strippers, replied Lucas, adding that he thought Max and Chelsea made a cute couple. Philip approached his ex girlfriend, Chloe, and welcomed her to the family. The party broke up and Victor went off on Chloe to Daniel, noting that Lucas tended to choose women who had nothing going for them but "big bazooms." Daniel chastised him for the way he was speaking about her and women in general and called him a misogynistic son of a bitch. Victor asked if he was drunk. Daniel said that Victor's words "cheapened him" and that Chloe was a terrific woman who had saved Kate's life.
After the party, Stephanie and Philip went to Titan. She credited him for being so gracious and congratulating Chloe on her engagement. He said he didn't have feelings for her anymore now that Steph had come into his life. "Sexually harassing an employee. You're just begging for trouble, aren't you?" she kidded. He agreed, saying they probably shouldn't work together anymore. He said he would reassign her in the morning.
Max and Chelsea ended their night at the Brady Pub. He joked that Chelsea and Kate could speed date together. They talked about relationships, carefully dancing around what was going on with them. A new waitress approached them and Max introduced her to Chelsea. They cutely ordered food for each other and the waitress called them a "cool couple."
Before leaving the K manse, Chloe confessed to Lucas that she didn't feel like she deserved everything good that had come along with the engagement. He smiled that she did and went to get the car. Daniel stopped to talk to her before he left and said she was putting on a good act. He then told her that she lifted his spirits like no one ever had and that they weren't through, not by a long shot.
At the Brady Pub, Marlena did some Internet research on Charlotte. She found out that Dr. Taylor had won many prestigious awards and called a fellow recipient to get more info. John had his session with Charlotte and while under hypnosis, saw himself chained up and trying to get to Marlena. When he came out, he asked what happened. She said he said some very interesting things. He took that to mean the session wasn't successful. Doc Taylor urged him not to give up, but he took off and headed to the Pub, where he ran into Marlena. She could tell that he seemed rattled and asked if he was okay. He said he wanted out of hypnosis. She told him about her research and said Charlotte was a "keeper." He asked if that meant he should date her. Marlena insisted she was doing professional, not personal, research, and felt that Charlotte was qualified enough for John to give her another chance. He said he would give it one more chance. Back in her office, Charlotte viewed the tape of John's session, where he called Marlena the love of his life.
Wednesday
Brady encountered a dejected John on the pier, who revealed that the hypnosis session with Charlotte didn't work. Brady asked about another doctor and wondered if John even wanted to get his memories back. John said he wanted them back right now and he wanted them back for Marlena.
At her office, Charlotte viewed the footage of John's session and was rattled. She dropped some books, so Marlena, who had knocked on the door, rushed in. Charlotte freaked; Marlena apologized for startling the doc. Marlena asked if they could talk. Doc Taylor said they couldn't discuss John. "It's about you," explained Marlena, who elaborated that she had done Internet research on Charlotte. She asked why Charlotte left Lehman University. "To take care of my dying father, who you never bothered to stay in touch with," Charlotte snapped, then revealed that her father never forgot Marlena and mentioned her on the day he died. Marlena excused herself, apologizing if she had hurt Charlotte's feelings. "I would like us to be friends," Marlena said, adding that they both shared the goal of wanting John to recover. "Well, at least one of us does," Charlotte said after Doc Evans left. John stopped by to have another session with Charlotte, but she said she had reviewed the video footage and didn't think hypnosis would work for him. He didn't know how she could know that after one session. "It's my opinion that you probably will not get your memories back," she lied.
At the Brady Pub, Maggie revealed to Max that Nick's sentencing was that day and he only wanted her and Melanie there. At Titan, Melanie asked for the morning off. Philip asked why, but she kept mum. EJ represented Nick at his sentencing hearing. "Uncle Mickey says you're the best," Nick explained, adding that he was happy Mickey wasn't there to see him sentenced to life in prison.
Steph stopped into the Brady Pub to pick up some coffee and tea for the Titan employees. Max said he couldn't help her because he was rushing out to Nick's sentencing. Steph wanted to go, too. Max asked about Philip. Steph insisted he would be okay about it. Max went to the car; Steph called her beau and told him what was going on.
Maggie and Mel arrived at the courthouse. Max and Steph came in. Maggie told him she was happy they were there. Philip showed up, too. Maggie and Melanie made heartfelt pleas on the stand in Nick's defense. The judge was lenient as a result and Nick was sentenced to two-to-five years in a facility and would be eligible for parole in 18 moths. Everyone was elated. Hugs all around. Philip approached Melanie and said that Nick owed her one. "What you did was more than right. It was incredibly generous," he said softly. She asked if that meant she wasn't a total loser in his eyes. "You never were," he replied. Steph saw him and went over. Philip revealed that he pushed the alternative fuels project meeting to later so Melanie could be there. Mel was pleased. Philip went to take a phone call. Steph told Melanie that she was impressed by her, too. Melanie thanked her, then went to say good-bye to Nick. "You saved me," he told her. "I just told the truth," she claimed. He asked if she did it for Philip. She was surprised he could still read her so well. She admitted that she did it partly so Philip would hear about it, but that she also felt that Nick deserved a second chance. They said good-bye to each other.
Nicole checked in on Mia, who was annoyed that Nic didn't bring her fianc so Mia could meet him. Nicole sighed that he wasn't coming at all. Nicole admitted exactly what was going on and what has happened with her own baby. Mia was horrified that Nicole wanted to pass Mia's baby off as her own. Nicole plead with her to "give me your baby. Please say yes. Give me back my happiness."
Chloe went to Daniel's apartment to say that the night before didn't happen. "Like hell it didn't," he declared. She said she never should have let him kiss her. He insisted that there was more than just an attraction between them. He approached her and took her hand, saying she wanted to feel his touch. They began to kiss, then had passionate sex. At the DiMera manse, Stefano visited with Kate. He asked if she had thought about his marriage proposal. She didn't give him a response, then headed over to Daniel's. Daniel and Chloe quickly got dressed and she hid. Kate explained to Daniel that he had left his pager at the party and she was returning it. He was acting weird, so she asked if something was wrong. He said everything was fine. She left. Chloe lamented that they were hurting people by their actions. "It is so out of control," he whispered. She said it could never happen again.
Thursday
Melanie blabbed to Max that Steph and Philip were making out in the courtroom corridor. Chelsea arrived and was upset that she wasn't there sooner. Melanie made a snarky remark about it, then left with Philip for their alternative fuels project meeting. Nick was brought in; he and a teary Chelsea were able to talk. Nick also revealed that he asked Mickey to deliver the patents and the project blueprints to Max to keep them safe. He made Max and Chels promise to keep them out of the wrong hands. They promised they would. Nick and Chelsea talked alone. With tears in his eyes, Nick told Chelsea how much their time together meant and how he was sorry he hadn't been there for her in the past few months. She said he didn't need to apologize. He asked her if she would come visit him. She said she would and assured him that he would always be in her heart. They hugged good-bye.
Melanie and Philip chatted after the meeting. He restated how he thought what she did for Nick earlier showed a side of herself he hadn't seen. "I like that person," he said. She was pleased. They congratulated themselves on the good meeting. Melanie suggested celebrating. Philip said they should. Steph approached and asked if the meeting went well. Melanie was all flirty with P.K., which bothered Steph. Philip pulled Steph aside and asked if she was okay. She claimed she was sad about Nick. Philip said he had a surprise for her. Melanie was irked by their closeness and took off.
Brady met Marlena at the Brady Pub and they discussed John. Brady revealed that John wanted to find himself again for Marlena only. She doubted that, but Brady told her that John admitted that he didn't feel a connection to anything or anyone else besides Doc Evans. Brady blamed himself for being away and distancing himself from the family, but Marlena pooh-poohed that.
At Charlotte's office, John questioned her about his session and why she felt hypnosis wouldn't work. She claimed she just wanted to be honest with him and let him know that she didn't think his memories would ever return. She elaborated that his case was complicated. Frustrated, John stormed out. John went to the Brady Pub and sat with Brady and Marlena. He called her "Doc." She took that as a good sign. Brady excused himself so they could chat. John told Marlena that Charlotte didn't think she could do anything to jog his memory. Marlena was surprised, then kissed him full on the mouth, hoping that would work. He said it reminded him of what he was fighting for. Marlena asked if Charlotte was sure the hypnosis wouldn't work. John said she was. Marlena then showed him her charm bracelet and asked if it seemed familiar to him. He said it didn't. She told him about it, but he didn't remember anything. He asked if she would accept him for the man he is now. Before she could respond, Charlotte came in and asked to speak to John alone. Marlena left. Charlotte chastised John for discussing his case with another shrink. Charlotte then suggested John leave Salem to start a new life — with her help.
Marlena met up with Brady outside and noted that Charlotte was very hostile to her and had been since they met. She also said that she felt that John's memory was returning, even if Charlotte didn't. He urged her to hang in there. She hugged him and took off. Brady realized that Marlena's hands may be tied, but his weren't.... Marlena called Charlotte and left her a message to call her about a patient.... Brady went to the hospital and sneaked into Charlotte's office. He viewed the video of John's therapy session and realized that his father was getting his memory back.
EJ told Stefano he had come across some information that could make the DiMeras even richer for generations to come. He added that Victor stood in their way. Stefano smiled that that would make it a challenge. Stefano then showed EJ a crib he had made for the baby in Italy, as well as presents he picked up for Theo and the baby.
Nicole got down on her knees and begged Mia to give her her baby. Mia wasn't so sure it was the right thing to do, noting that Nicole's plan was "sketchy." Nicole opened her heart and told Mia everything that had happened, but insisted that EJ was a wonderful guy and that the baby would have an older brother named Johnny. Mia said she wanted to see where her baby would live, but Nicole was unsure. She called EJ and was dismayed to discover that he and Stefano were at home, but played it off. Nicole suggested they spend some time alone together. EJ asked if they could have a little afternoon delight, but she said no. Stefano hurried EJ off the phone to go to a meeting. Nicole perked up. After she hung up, she assured Mia that she would always be there for her. Nicole took Mia to the mansion and Mia was overwhelmed by the DiMera wealth. She was excited by the crib, then spied a photo of EJ with Johnny. She also spied the portrait of Stefano. Before Nicole could say who it was, Tony came in.
Melanie went to the Cheatin' Heart. EJ approached her there, saying he had been looking for her. He sat down with her. He thanked her for her testimony in Nick's trial earlier and noted that it was a magnanimous thing to do. "Did you track me down to tell me how magnanimous I was?" Melanie asked. He said he had something else to discuss with her.
Friday
Nicole gave Tony an overly cheery greeting, saying she was glad he was back home. She then tried to get rid of him, but he wanted to meet her friend, Mia. The young lady was surprised to hear that his last name is DiMera. Nic hastily offered that it sounds familiar because it's a well-known family name in Salem, then she got the pregnant teen out of there without revealing her identity.
Brady watched a video of John's session with Dr. Taylor on the shrink's laptop. "Oh, my God. This is real, he remembers," Brady gasped. Then he wondered, "What the hell is this doctor up to." At the Pub, meanwhile, Charlotte insisted to John that his amnesia may be permanent and encouraged him to start over somewhere else. He said he would do that — with Marlena. Charlotte did not like that idea at all. "Marlena will never accept you the way you are now," she pressed.
At the hospital, Kayla asked Marlena what was wrong. Doc Evans admitted that she does not trust Charlotte.... As Brady was spying in her office, Charlotte stood outside the door ready to go in. Fortunately, for Brady, Marlena stopped her to chat. Marlena asked for info on John, which infuriated Charlotte. Doc Evans tried to get her to go to the cafeteria, but Doc Taylor refused and turned to go into her office. Marlena demanded to know why the shrink told John that he'd never get his memory back. Marlena said John had told her about their sessions. "John had no right to do that, he knows better than to open up his mouth to you," hissed Charlotte. Knock, knock. Kayla came into the outer office and called both of the squabbling blondes into her office. This gave Brady a chance to escape.
Melanie and EJ sat together at the Cheatin' Heart, where she noted that she can't discuss her alternative fuels project with outsiders. EJ asked how she likes Titan and then handed her his card, flirtatiously brushing her hand in the process. He noted that his family makes a lot of money. "I can make you more money than Victor Kiriakis ever dreamed of," he boasted. Mel talked up how great it is working for Philip, but EJ continued to try to lure her away. After EJ exited, Maggie sat down with Maggie and thanked her for helping to get Nick a reduced sentence. Melanie then nosed about for info about EJ, Maggie warned that he is a good lawyer, but he's still a DiMera.
Nicole took Mia to the clinic for an appointment with Dr. Baker. He was startled to see Nicole and asked if Mia knew the "whole truth" about her. Mia and Nic made it clear that Mia knows all about the faked pregnancy. When the doc told Mia that she was having a girl, she admitted that she always wanted a daughter. He reminded her that she can keep her baby. "Don't say that!" cried Nicole. Mia assured her that she will let Nicole have the baby.... EJ returned to the DiMera manse where Tony was quick to tell him that Nicole left with a very pregnant teen that she met at the youth center where she volunteers — snort. EJ was curious and Tony continued to make insinuations, but claimed he didn't want to "incite" his brother. EJ asked what Tony was thinking, he said the same thing EJ is thinking: "something is up." EJ defended Nicole, saying she's changed and he believes what she told Tony. "Bless your kind, trusting soul," sniffed Tony.
Nicole returned home and EJ asked why she didn't tell him about her volunteer work.... Mia was alone in her room when she grabbed her belly.... After apologizing for the fracas with Marlena, Charlotte rushed to her office and could tell that someone had been snooping around..... Kayla met with John and said she doesn't trust Charlotte.... Marlena met up with Brady and chided him for taking such a risk. He told her he e-mailed her a copy of John's session. She saw the video with John referring to her as the love of his life.
