DAYS Week of January 18, 2010
Monday
Anna rambled to Sydney about when her kidnapping would get resolved. Then, she told the tyke she had to go. Meanwhile, Rafe caught Sami and EJ on the pier dropping off ransom money. EJ said he had clothing in the suitcase; Rafe didn't buy it and demanded the pair tell him what was going on. "Just tell him the truth," ordered EJ. Sami told Rafe everything. Rafe ordered EJ to take the suitcase to the drop spot and Sami to go home. Sami freaked when Rafe went to make a call, fearing it was to the FBI. "They might kill Sydney," she wailed. Rafe proceeded, and Sami went ballistic. EJ dragged her away. Later, Rafe went off on Sami for lying to him. EJ left the pair alone to spat. He made a phone call. When Anna didn't answer, he left a message telling her Rafe found out everything. EJ returned, and Rafe left. Sami cried that Rafe hated her. Rafe returned, noting someone was approaching the ransom money on the pier.
Arianna tended to Brady and suggested he see a doctor. He moved in for a kiss instead. Outside, Troy chatted on the phone with the hit man. He informed the guy he'd be finishing off Arianna himself. Post lovemaking, Brady announced he got a message from Melanie; then, headed off to shower. Arianna got a call from Roman, informing her they had a big problem. The pair met, and Roman told Arianna the cops were about to pull the plug on the operation. Arianna freaked, knowing it meant she'd go back to prison. Roman said there was nothing he could do, but agreed to let Arianna talk to the higher ups. Later, while Arianna begged someone for another chance, Troy approached her. He said something big was happening and he'd meet her in her room in a half hour.
Vivian went on about Bo and Carly's affair to Hope, urging Hope to get revenge. Hope thought Bo and Carly were keeping a secret. Vivian claimed not to have any idea what it might be. Hope promised Vivian would be the first to know if she found out what it was and left. Alone, Hope remembered the box she found in Vivian's bedroom. She knew Vivian knew something and so did Bo. Hope vowed to find out what it was. Vivian made a call. Soon, Gus was there. Vivian went off about the restraining order Carly filed against her and ordered Gus to follow Carly and see if she was around a young girl. She wanted facts and a birth date.
Hope tried to console Maggie at the Java Café, but she was more interested in helping Hope get Bo back. Maggie insisted Bo loved Hope, not Carly. She urged Hope to fight for her husband.
Melanie overheard Bo and Carly talking outside Maggie's and asked if they were discussing her. Carly said they were talking about Hope. Melanie noted Hope already knew they were sleeping together. She wondered if there might be more, like Carly was pregnant. Carly swore she wasn't and wanted to leave. Melanie went off about Carly insinuating herself in her life and ordered her to leave her alone. Bo and Carly left. Later, Carly fretted over the situation with Melanie and Vivian coming after her and her daughter. Bo promised there were ways to stop Vivian. Carly feared Melanie would hate her even more when she found out she gave her away. "I want to be able to love her and I want to be her mother," bemoaned Carly, realizing she had to accept the fact that would never happen. Bo vowed to make sure it would happen.
Brady arrived at Maggie's. Melanie told him she was going to ask Arianna to be her maid of honor and wondered if he would give her away. Brady was silent, admitting he was concerned she was rushing into marriage. Brady asked why she wanted to give up on her nursing career. Melanie thought about it and said she might be able to take a leave of absence and get Daniel to freeze her credits. Brady finally agreed to give Melanie away. Later, Melanie arrived at Daniel's office. Carly walked in, noting he asked her to take care of some situation with a student nurse.
Brady returned to the Kiriakis mansion to find Vivian on the computer. She was working on things for her "son's" wedding. She told Brady she wanted know more about her future daughter-in–law.
Tuesday
Vivian found Kate looking at a wedding magazine. She asked if Kate planned on letting this daughter-in-law live and referred to Philip as her son. Kate ordered her not to call him that again. Vivian met with Gus, who revealed he hadn't made any progress on getting the birth date of Carly's child.
Nathan arrived at the hospital. Maxine noted someone had taken his shift. Stephanie said she'd asked another doctor to cover for him. Steph told Nathan she had a surprise for him, and they left. At the pub, Steph handed Nathan an envelope containing the Tom Horton award for intern of the year. Nathan was touched. Steph noted Mickey knew about it. Nathan wondered what he said. "Make sure that kid doesn't get a swelled head," revealed Steph, noting that then Mickey turned his head so she couldn't see the tears in his eyes. Nathan thanked Steph with a kiss.
Philip asked Bo to be in his wedding. Bo agreed. Philip said the wedding would be sometime in February. He and Melanie wanted to wait until Maggie could be a part of it. Philip asked about Bo and Hope. Bo informed him their marriage was "dead in the water." Philip realized Bo was with Carly now, but said he couldn't invite her to the wedding. Vivian entered and listened. Bo saw her and played things up, telling Philip he was the reason Carly came back to Salem. Their relationship never ended, and they were still in love. Philip didn't buy it. Bo swore his marriage to Hope was over. Vivian barged in, and Bo left. Vivian mentioned Bo and Carly's affair to Philip. Philip urged her to forget what Bo said. He didn't want Hope hurt. Vivian phoned Gus and told him Carly may have killed Lawrence just to be with Bo.
Bo met Abe at the Java Caf, explaining he led Vivian to believe Carly came back for him, so she'd stop harassing her. Abe realized there was more to the story. "Carly's got a secret," admitted Bo. "And you know what that secret is, don't you?" asked Abe. Bo wouldn't reveal what it was. "And you couldn't tell Hope either," deduced Abe, noting how complicated Carly made Bo's life. Bo admitted Hope knew about him Carly and wondered what would happen when Vivian told her what he said. Abe suggested Bo level with Hope about leading Vivian on, but Bo said he couldn't.
Carly told Melanie if she wanted to take a leave of absence from the nurse's program, she had to fill out forms. Melanie mentioned her birthday. Carly had a flashback to Melanie's birth and Lawrence taunting her through it. Melanie got uncomfortable with Carly staring at her and left. She ran into Kate, who wanted to talk about the wedding. Melanie brushed her off. Carly continued remembering Melanie's birth and Lawrence announcing she had a girl. Carly asked Lawrence to hand her the baby, but he wouldn't. Lawrence pretended he was going to drop the infant, noting she was the living breathing personification of Carly's betrayal. Carly agreed to stay with Lawrence and give up her child. Melanie returned. She and Carly started discussing Melanie's wedding and career. Melanie said she was going to be as a full-time mom. She and Philip dreamed about being great parents with happy kids. Carly questioned Melanie about her family. Melanie told her about her daddy Trent, who pimped her out to his bookies. Melanie noted both her parents were dead and it was the best thing that ever happened to her. Carly wondered about Melanie's mother. "If she was hanging around with men like my father, she must have been a real piece of work," spat Melanie. After she left, Carly moaned, "What have I done to you?"
Maggie and Melissa returned from the funeral and reminisced about Mickey. After Maggie bid goodbye to Melissa, Kate showed up, saying she didn't think Maggie should be alone. Kate pumped Maggie for information on Melanie, noting what "a handful" she was when she arrived in Salem. She mentioned how Maggie and Mickey got through Melanie's defenses. "You're here because you want to know how to fool that poor girl into thinking you're human," spat Maggie. Maggie said Melanie was a smart young woman, who could see through Kate. Plus, she'd be watching Kate like a hawk. Then, Maggie ordered Kate to leave.
Melanie arrived at the Kiriakis mansion. She told Philip about Carly getting on her nerves and about their chat. Melanie wondered why she'd told Carly about her dysfunctional family. Philip consoled her. Meanwhile, Carly sobbed and had another ghostly visit from Lawrence, telling her he'd won.
Wednesday
Sami worried about the stakeout on the pier. She begged Rafe to pull out his FBI team, fearing Sydney's life was in danger. EJ returned and backed Sami. Rafe got a call. He explained there was a woman at the pier and his men arrested her. Rafe, Sami and EJ headed for the police station. The woman, Marion O'Brien, denied knowing anything about Sydney's kidnapping. Meanwhile, Anna returned to the cabin and found her phone and messages from EJ. She texted him that all was fine. Rafe explained that Marion claimed to be in Houston when Sydney was taken. EJ went off about the FBI messing things up. Sami freaked, wondering if the kidnappers found out about the stakeout and were going to hurt Sydney. Rafe reported that Marion's story checked out and they had to let her go. EJ received Anna's text and responded everything was going according to plan. Soon, an officer appeared with a fax. Sami read it, "You brought in the feds. You will never see Sydney again."
Vivian blabbed to Hope about Carly's big secret. She explained she overheard Bo tell Philip that Carly came back to Salem for him. Hope didn't buy it and told Vivian to keep her theories to yourself. "This is my husband we're talking about. If I need answers, I'll get them myself," she spat.
Philip arrived at the hospital to see Carly. She explained how Melanie was going to rejoin the nursing program after her honeymoon, but when she found out she'd have deal with Carly, she changed her mind. She suggested Philip talk to Melanie about it. Carly also noted that Melanie told her about her rotten childhood and father. Philip suggested Carly stay out of their lives; then, accused Carly of planning to seduce Bo for years. Philip revealed everything Bo told him earlier. Carly stormed off. Later, Philip and Justin talked after the board meeting. Philip admitted he was worried Carly was destroying Bo and Hope's marriage.
Bo approached Melanie to talk, since they were about to become family. He told her she had people who cared about her, like Carly. Melanie didn't get why. "Just because she likes me doesn't mean I have to like her back," retorted Melanie. "I have Philip. I have Maggie. I don't need anybody else." Later, Carly arrived on Bo's doorstep and asked if he was out of his mind. Bo insisted it was better everyone think she came to town for him rather than to find her daughter. Carly didn't like being perceived as a home wrecker. Bo said the important thing was that Carly and Melanie were safe. Hope arrived and asked why Bo didn't tell her Carly came to Salem for him. Bo apologized. Hope was devastated. "Now I know she's always been on your mind all these years and our marriage has been a complete lie," spat Hope, noticing Bo wasn't wearing his wedding ring. Hope stormed out. Alone, Carly apologized for what happened with Hope. "She made her bed. Now she has to lie in it," said Bo. Hope returned to the Kiriakis mansion. Justin came in and realized something was wrong. Hope informed him Carly never stopped loving Bo and came to Salem to get him back. Justin took a sobbing Hope in his arms; then, kissed her. "I'm not ready," responded Hope. Justin understood and told Hope that Bo didn't deserve her.
Melanie joined Philip at the pub. She filled him on her talk with Bo. Then, she asked Philip for a favor: she decided she wanted a bigger wedding. Vivian interrupted, offering to help. Chad tried to get Gabi to change her mind about going to Vancouver. Mia swore Chad only asked Gabi on the trip to make her jealous. Gabi didn't believe her. In fact, she accused Mia of trying to make Chad jealous with Will. Later, Gabi announced her parents okayed the trip to the Olympics. Mia fumed. Kinsey and T arrived. Chad told them Gabi was heading off with them. Mia remembered she had to get her science book, kissed Will, and left. Kinsey approached Will and said it was too bad he wasn't going to Vancouver. Will said he'd rather spend time with Mia. Mia visited Grace's grave. She lamented how Chad wasn't thinking of either of them now that he found Gabi. Mia admitted she knew it wasn't fair, but she wanted both Will and Chad.
Thursday
Vivian pressured Melanie into going wedding gown shopping. After finishing a call with Nathan, Stephanie entered the pub. Melanie lied that they had plans to go shopping. Steph played along, but ultimately told Melanie she had lunch plans. Vivian told Melanie her stylist was on the way to the mansion. "You have a stylist?" gushed Melanie. The two gals headed to the Kiriakis manse, where dresses awaited them. Melanie tried one on. Victor returned a call from Vivian., who informed him that she'd overheard Bo telling Philip about Carly coming back to Salem for Bo. Melanie returned wearing a gown and announced it was the one she wanted. Vivian made a call and learned the dress was on hold for someone. Vivian insisted Melanie have it. Melanie wondered why Vivian was doing all this. Vivian said it was because Philip loved Mel, and she and Melanie hugged.
Carly discovered Vivian on the pier holding a knife and Melanie lying there bleeding. Of course, it was all a horrible daydream. Carly vowed to keep Vivian away from her daughter. At the hospital, Carly handed Nathan a personnel file. He noticed it was Melanie's. They discussed Melanie quitting nursing school. Carly brought up Nathan and Melanie's dating past and assumed things didn't end well. "Obviously not. She's marrying another guy,"said Nathan. Later, Victor ran into Carly and let her have it about her affair with Bo. They traded insults. Then, Victor dropped a bomb: he and Vivian would be joining Philip and Melanie on their honeymoon trip aboard his yacht. "No!" snapped Carly, quickly covering that she doubted Melanie and Philip would want them tagging along.
Justin told Hope he didn't want things to be awkward between them after their kiss. She assured him all was fine and wondered if her marriage to Bo was worth saving. Later, Julie joined Hope, who told her Carly came to Salem because she wanted Bo. "And now they're together," sighed Hope. Julie refused to believe Carly and Bo had been trying to get back together for years, insisting Bo loved Carly. Hope said if you loved someone, you didn't sleep with someone else, adding that Bo wasn't her hero anymore. Nathan joined Julie and Hope, briefly. They talked about his dating Steph. "I'm very lucky," noted Nathan. Steph returned and insisted she was the lucky one. Julie and Hope turned the conversation back to Bo. Julie pointed out Hope still loved Bo, and she couldn't deny it. Hope insisted it was too late for them. "It's never too late," stressed Julie. They discussed Justin, and Hope said she'd been unfair to him. Then, she admitted she has only ever loved one man: Bo. "What are you going to do about it?" asked Julie.
Steph and Nathan kissed. She announced she was going to Melanie and Philip's wedding. Nathan wasn't and said they shouldn't tell the couple they were dating.
Sami sobbed after reading the ransom note, saying they'd never see Sydney again. EJ vowed not to let any harm come to Sydney. So did Rafe, noting the kidnapper sending this note was a slip-up. Rafe went to talk to forensics. He returned and announced the faxed note was sent from a local area code. Hence, the kidnapper was nearby. Nearby, Anna tended to Sydney. EJ vowed to get Sydney back and said he didn't care about the rules. Rafe refused to have EJ working behind his back. Sami insisted she trusted EJ. Rafe was annoyed. Sami and Rafe returned to her townhouse. Rafe got on Sami for lying to him. Sami said they'd have Sydney back if Rafe hadn't found out about the ransom note. "You don't always know what's best," she yelled, noting that Rafe wasn't God, psychic or Sydney's father. Then, she ran off.
EJ arrived to see Sydney. Anna announced the tyke had a fever. EJ told Anna that Sami blamed Rafe for everything. "She's turning away from him and trusting me," he smirked. Anna asked when she'd be getting her money, noting that she was starting to think EJ never planned on giving Sydney back.
Later, Melanie and Vivian were at the Java Café going on about Melanie's gown when Carly arrived. "You get your paws off of her, or I will kill you with my bare hands," warned Carly.
Friday
Bo ran into Daniel at the hospital and wanted to discuss Carly. Bo said Vivian was a problem, even though Carly had a restraining order against her. He asked Daniel to keep an eye on Carly at work. Daniel agreed. Later, Bo ran into Philip. Philip apologized for being rude to Bo and Carly of late. He still wanted Bo to be part of his wedding, but reiterated Carly wasn't invited. Bo understood.
Carly spotted Melanie sitting with Vivian and saw red. "You seem a little upset," taunted Vivian. Carly warned Melanie that she was hanging out with "a snake." Melanie told Carly nobody asked for her opinion. "Vivian wants to destroy you, and I won't let it happen," retorted Carly, going on about how Vivian was sadistic, cruel and merciless. "You make a wrong decision with this woman, you could end up six feet under. Buried alive." Melanie wondered why Carly cared. "What am I to you?" she asked. Carly swore she was just looking out for Melanie. Daniel arrived and reminded Vivian about Carly's restraining order. Vivian noted Carly came up to her. Daniel pulled Carly away, but in the process she knocked coffee all over Melanie's gown. Melanie freaked. Vivian promised she'd have another dress made. Outside, Daniel asked why Carly was so protective of someone she hardly knew. Carly dodged the question and left. Inside, Melanie thanked Vivian for everything. Vivian announced she and Victor might be joining Philip and Melanie on their honeymoon yachting trip. Melanie didn't look pleased and said she'd run it by Philip. Alone, Vivian wondered why Carly was so protective of Melanie. Soon, she was on the phone with Gus, ordering him to check out Melanie.
Chloe arrived at the Kiriakis mansion and told Brady that Nicole wasn't doing well. She kept calling and asking about Sydney. Chloe thought Nicole missed Brady. They discussed Nicole making Brady promise he'd stay away from her. Chloe thought Brady should call Nicole. Brady wouldn't do it. He told Arianna he had moved on. Philip arrived, and Brady left. Philip asked Chloe's opinion on a piece of jewelry he got Melanie. Chloe wondered if it was a wedding gift. Philip said it was for when they had their first kid. Philip asked if Chloe and Daniel wanted to start a family. Chloe avoided the subject and left.
Anna questioned EJ about his plans for Sydney. She wondered if he planned to keep her away forever. EJ said he'd taken care of Nicole and now had need to deal with Sami and Rafe. Before EJ left, Anna reminded him to pick up Sydney's medication.
Troy barged into Arianna's room, noting there was a problem with the next shipment. He said the big guy had some "primo stuff" he wanted to move fast. Arianna's cell rang. It was Brady, noting he'd been delayed but would be there soon. Arianna hung up and asked if Troy had a sample of the "primo stuff" with him. He did and handed it to Arianna, but it spilled onto the floor. As they started scooping it up, Arianna asked about a meeting with the boss. She wanted to explain that she could move stuff like this all the time. Troy went off about Arianna trying to take his place, reminding her he was the one in charge. Troy grabbed Arianna and pulled a scarf tightly around her neck. Arianna tried to free herself. EJ burst in and dragged Troy into the hall. He let him get away; then, ran back to Arianna. Roman arrived and Arianna told him what happened. Roman got a call noting Troy was picked up by the cops. At the station, Roman, Arianna and EJ watched as Troy was brought in. Brady arrived. Arianna told him Troy tried to strangle her. Brady was sorry he hadn't gotten to Arianna sooner. EJ noted he was there. EJ got a call from Anna, reminding him not to forget Sydney's medicine. EJ snapped at her. Roman told Arianna that Troy was going away for a long time. As Troy was escorted past them, he remembered Arianna's conversation with Ceaser. "She's a narc," he yelled.
Carly returned to Bo's house fuming about Vivian trying to get close to Melanie. She admitted there would have been blood on the floor if Daniel hadn't intervened. Melanie arrived at the Kiriakis mansion. She went off about Carly and her ruined wedding dress, but noted another dress was already on the way. Philip pointed out her day was getting better and moved in for a kiss.
