Monday
EJ wondered why he had to hear Nicole was volunteering at a youth center for pregnant teens from Tony and asked about Mia being at the house. Nicole said she and Mia had bonded. EJ told Nicole he had a right to know what was going on. Nicole said she was just doing some volunteer work. EJ apologized, noting he'd "overreacted" and that if anyone had been withholding information it was him. He admitted working on this negotiation for his father. Nicole told EJ he was the best person she knew and that she was actually keeping two things from him. She showed EJ a picture of their unborn child. The pair fawned over the photo. Then, Nicole told EJ her other secret: in a few weeks she might have to do some traveling to make some speeches at teen centers around the state. EJ was proud of her. In fact, he wanted to go with Nicole. Nicole said he was too busy. EJ took a phone call, when Nicole's cell suddenly rang. It was Mia, telling her she was heading to the clinic, because she was in labor.
Kayla warned John not to trust Charlotte. She had a bad feeling about his shrink. Kayla recounted intervening in a dispute between Charlotte and Marlena earlier. It was about John's therapy, and Charlotte's behavior was "inappropriate." Kayla thought Charlotte was going to hit Marlena and had serious doubts about her mental state. She urged John to talk to Charlotte and see what was going on. Charlotte freaked when she realized someone got into her computer and saw John's video. A technician arrived. Charlotte told him someone broke into her computer and she needed to find out who it was. He checked things out and found Charlotte emailed a video file to Marlena. Charlotte was furious. John stopped by and asked what Charlotte and Marlena fought about. Charlotte said Marlena wanted information about their last session and got hysterical when she refused to tell her. John noted Kayla warned him not to trust Charlotte and came to a decision: therapy was more trouble than it was worth. Since hypnosis failed, he was quitting. Although unhappy, Charlotte said she'd stand by John's decision, but was angry when he left.
Brady told Marlena he emailed John's hypnotherapy session to her and urged her to watch it. Marlena gasped as John remembered the love of his life: her! Brady noted it meant Charlotte had been lying about John's therapy and vowed she was going to pay. Marlena insisted they proceed with caution and said she'd handle this. Alone, Marlena called Dr. Hansen and asked about Charlotte. She thanked him for the information and hung up, when Charlotte arrived, noting they needed to talk.
EJ ran into to Brady and asked what all his visits to Nicole were about. Brady said he had his own problems and was tire d of Nicole's drama. John arrived. Brady told his dad they had to talk. Charlotte wasn't who she said she was.
Nicole arrived at the clinic and found Mia. Dr. Baker noted she wasn't in labor. It was a false alarm. Mia could go home. Nicole wondered if that was wise and asked if Mia was dilated at all. Dr. Baker said she was. Mia announced she was prepared and had packed all her stuff. Dr. Baker noted there was a lot at stake and they couldn't afford any problems.
Rafe delivered the bad news to Sami that Hilda was murdered. Meanwhile the killer accessed Hilda's file, hoping it would lead him to Sami. Sami noted Hilda had just been at the safe house. Rafe asked if it was the day he came out of the shower and felt dizzy. "Yeah. Why?" asked Sami. Rafe noted that was the day Hilda was killed. Sami wondered if that meant the safe house was no longer safe. Rafe suspected there was a leak at the bureau and said they should leave. Sami admitted going to see Sister Theresa that day, too. Rafe was outraged and demanded to know why. Sami insisted she had to protect her unborn child, while the killer figured out her location. Rafe told Sami they had to leave, pronto! Later, the pair arrived at the convent. Rafe announced they were staying there, since the killer got into the FBI's main computer and knew the location of all their safe houses.
Tuesday
All soaps are preempted today, January 20, for coverage of the Presidential Inauguration. Recaps will resume tomorrow.
Wednesday
Chloe chatted on the phone with her agent about an audition in Vancouver, when she got a call from Daniel and flashed back to their romp. Chloe didn't answer. Lucas returned, and Chloe explained she had an audition and wanted him to go with her. Lucas agreed to tie up things and go. Chloe found Allie's blanket and realized she forgot to leave it with Julie, so she left to drop it off. On the way she ran into Daniel, who wanted to talk about their lovemaking. Chloe didn't and told Daniel they were over. She was leaving town with Lucas.
EJ stopped Nicole, who claimed she was heading to Chicago for a youth center event. EJ suggested Nicole help wayward teens in Salem and forbade her from leaving town. They argued. Finally, EJ offered to drive Nicole to Chicago. Nicole made a fake call (to Dr. Baker) to cancel her trip. EJ went on about not being there when Johnny was born and wanting to be there when Nicole gave birth. Nicole insisted she wanted that too, but didn't want to be on a leash. EJ headed to the office, and Nicole called Dr. Baker back. He told Nicole she had to be ready to move with her plan once Mia went into labor.
The killer found Sami's medal on the floor of the safe house, while Sami and Rafe took refuge at the convent. Rafe told Sami that Sister Theresa would take care of her and went to leave. Sami hugged Rafe and begged him not to go. Rafe promised he'd be back and left. Sami called Lucas, told him about Hilda, and said she was safe at the convent. She begged him not to tell Roman she'd called and hung up. Sister Theresa tried to comfort Sami. Alone, Sami prayed. Rafe walked around the safe house, telling the killer he knew he was there. "And you know you're a dead man," retorted the killer, pointing his gun at Rafe. The men tumbled to the floor and fought.
Chloe returned to find Lucas on the phone arranging some things for Sami. Lucas explained about Hilda's death and Sami's situation and said he couldn't go to Vancouver. Chloe exploded and ran off to see Nicole. She told her Sami was going after Lucas, and he was falling for it. Lucas phoned Chloe to apologize, but got her voice mail, just as Daniel arrived at the cabin to talk about Chloe. Nicole urged Chloe not to get upset with Lucas. Chloe let the cat out of the bag that Sami was pregnant. Nicole was stunned.
Bo and Hope got lovey-dovey on the docks. Bo told Hope he'd had it with all the boring work meetings and was thinking about quitting. He missed working with her. Hope asked Bo to think about this; then, suggested they head home for "a different kind of meeting."
Brady told John that Charlotte wasn't telling him the tr uth. In fact, his hypnosis was successful. John got angry and accused Brady of spying on him. Brady told John he had a copy of the video from his session and took out his cell phone. John watched himself talking about the love of his life. "Why would she keep that from me?" asked John. Brady mentioned showing the video to Marlena and that she got furious. Meanwhile, Charlotte arrived to confront Marlena, reaming her for breaking client-patient confidentiality. Marlena scolded Charlotte for withholding information from John. Charlotte ranted at Marlena. Marlena's phone rang and it was John, saying he didn't want her dealing with Charlotte alone. "Too late," responded Marlena. Charlotte ordered Marlena to hang up and freaked out about making Marlena pay for something. Charlotte pulled out a syringe containing a muscle relaxant, noting the heart was a muscle. She ranted about resenting how her father idolized Marlena, while never having time for her. "When your heart starts to relax, think about John and me," taunted Charlotte, noting they'd be together and Marlena would be dead. The women started to brawl, when John raced in. Charlotte stabbed John with the syringe. Brady, Bo and Hope arrived, while Marlena tried to resuscitate John and Bo called for an ambulance.
Thursday
Daniel told Lucas that Chloe was going through something and was covering it up. Lucas admitted Chloe was stressed. Daniel noted talking to Chloe earlier and that he didn't think she should leave town. Lucas asked if it was too soon after the transplant. Daniel said the reasons weren't medical. There was more. Daniel wondered if Lucas and Chloe were planning to run away and elope. Lucas explained Chloe had an audition in Vancouver and wondered why any of this was Daniel's business, when he got a call to pick up Allie. Lucas mentioned Allie having a tape of Chloe singing that put her to sleep and said the two were close. Daniel apologized for bothering Lucas. Lucas didn't get why Daniel was so focused on Chloe. Daniel said his feelings for Chloe were a little overprotective ever since she stepped up for Kate's transplant.
Chloe spilled the beans that Sami was pregnant. Nicole assumed the daddy was Lucas. She wondered if Sami wanted Lucas back or if he was leaving Chloe for her. Finally, Chloe admitted EJ was Sami's baby's father. Nicole said Sami was lying. Chloe said Sami wasn't. She'd known the truth for months, but didn't tell Nicole because she was so happy. Nicole freaked, vowing not to let Sami ruin things for her and EJ. Chloe said Sami was hiding in a convent. Nicole pumped her for more information. Namely, the name of the convent. Nicole begged Chloe not to tell Lucas she revealed Sami's pregnancy. Chloe agreed and left, while Nicole looked up the convent's address.
Chloe arrived at Daniel's apartment, noting she and Lucas had a fight. Daniel said he knew. He went to see Lucas, but didn't tell him about the two of them, because Allie needed Chloe. "When you love someone, you don't destroy their life," whispered Daniel. "What do we do now?" asked Chloe. "Say goodbye," responded Daniel, as he and Chloe lunged for each other and kissed, passionately.
The killer and Rafe brawled and struggled for his gun. It flew across the room, and the killer grabbed it. The killer pointed his gun and Rafe and asked where Sami was. "Never heard of her," retorted Rafe. The killer said Rafe would talk, eventually, and threatened to eliminate members of Sami's family. Rafe laughed; then, attacked the killer again. The two men fought, until the killer pinned Rafe to the floor.
Sami fretted about Rafe and told Sister Theresa about her baby being due and not knowing what she'd do when it arrived. Sister Theresa urged Sami to come clean with her. Sami explained she was in the witness protection program. She told Sister Theresa she didn't hate her baby's father, but feared his family. Sami begged Sister Theresa to hide her baby. She already lost Johnny to the DiMeras and couldn't let that happen to this baby. Sister Theresa urged Sami to think about this and pray. Sami prayed and asked God for his help, as Nicole arrived and watched.
Marlena leapt into action to save John, injecting him with adrenaline. Bo worked on resuscitating John's heart, while Marlena begged John to fight. Hope hauled off Charlotte. Marlena told Brady to go after them to find out what was in the shot Charlotte gave John. Later, John arrived at the emergency room. Bo told Charlotte they were going to the station to talk. Charlotte told Bo that John would never be the same man he was. Kayla delivered John's prognosis: he'd had a stroke-like episode. Marlena told Kayla that John started remembering her, but Charlotte kept it from him. Marlena wished they could get John to access those memories when he was awake. Brady emerged from John's room, noting he thought John had done that. He showed John the hypnosis session video again and said his father mentioned seeing the light. Marlena panicked, raced into John's room, and tried reaching him by recounting their happies memories. John had a seizure. Kayla raced in and stabilized him. Alone, Marlena kissed John and said she loved him. Suddenly, he was was deluged with flashbacks of the two of them, opened his eyes and muttered, "I remember."
Friday
EJ arrived at the mansion looking for Nicole and asked Stefano if he'd seen her. Nope! Stefano said he was on his way to Italy to save the fortunes of the entire DiMera clan, when he got a call and gasped. Stefano told EJ that John was attacked and poisoned and might not recover. EJ volunteered to go on the trip instead, so his father could visit John.
John opened his eyes and announced, "I remember all of it, Doc. Especially you." Then, he and Marlena exchanged "I love yous." Kayla entered the room and Marlena told her the good news. Kayla delivered the bad news: John's central nervous system had endured a catastrophic episode. If he stayed there one more day, his chances of recovery were slim. Kayla told Marlena about a facility in Switzerland that could help John. Marlena fetched Brady, so he could share a reunion with his father, just as Stefano arrived. Later, John told Marlena he couldn't move his arms and legs. Marlena explained the damage to John's nervous system. "I can't walk? I can't move?" asked John, urging Marlena to walk away from him. Marlena vowed to stand by her man, insisting John would recover. John asked Marlena to marry him again. Marlena agreed and shared the happy news with everyone. Stefano told Marlena he had not hing to do with John's condition. Father Jansen began the ceremony, and John and Marlena pledged their love to one another.
Kate was surprised and worried to learn Lucas and Chloe had cancelled their trip to Vancouver and asked why. Lucas finally 'fessed up about Sami's phone call. Kate freaked, noting Sami destroyed everything she touched. Lucas admitted he'd screwed up. He said he tried to call Chloe a million times, but kept getting her voice mail. Lucas wondered if Daniel might know where Chloe was and told Kate about his odd visit to the cabin earlier. Kate said she had a better idea and headed off to see Daniel, while Lucas phoned Chloe again to no avail. Chloe was off romping with Daniel. Afterwards, she admitted what the two of them shared was special. Daniel urged Chloe to end this deception and tell everyone the truth about the two of them. "Are you crazy? We can't tell people out us," retorted Chloe. Then, she admitted loving Daniel. Suddenly, the phone rang just as someone knocked at the door. Daniel told Chloe to get the door. He was expecting test results. Chloe hesitated, fortunately. When she finally did open the door, she saw Kate walking off and freaked.
Sami prayed at the altar in the convent, when Nicole rushed over, screamed at her for being the one pregnant with EJ's child, and went to knock her out with a statue. Surprise! It was just a fantasy. Nicole spied on Sami, but ran and hid when Sister Ther esa arrived with some food. Sami went on about being worried about Rafe. Sister Theresa assured her he would be fine. Sami reiterated that she needed Sister Theresa to take her baby until she figured out something else. Nicole eavesdropped, as Sister Theresa agreed and asked where Sami was giving birth. Sami wasn't sure. Sister Theresa noted there were some good hospitals in Salem. Sami insisted she couldn't give birth there. It had to be someplace private. Meanwhile, another nun told Nicole she'd fetch Sister Theresa. Nicole's cell rang and it was EJ, noting he was going off on a business trip. He heard Sister Theresa in the background, and Nicole lied that she passed the nun while she was walking. Nicole told Sister Theresa she needed her help. Nicole went on about coming from a strict Catholic family, who would disown her if they learned she was pregnant. She asked Sister Theresa to pray that her family didn't find out about her condition and said she couldn't have her baby in Salem, but had already taken care of that. Sister Theresa couldn't help but notice the similarities between "Mary" and Sami's predicaments. Meanwhile, Sami continued praying for Rafe's safe return, when she heard someone approaching.
