DAYS Week of January 24, 2011
Monday
Jane called Stefano to get the green light to kill a captive Bo. He didn't respond directly, then hung up on her. Jane left and Bo was able to untie himself. She returned and was shocked to find him gone.
Vivian and Gus bickered on the island. They then fought over a wine bottle, which then fell in the sand. "There's not enough alcohol here to stop this unbearable nightmare," Viv lamented. "I just want to go home!" Suddenly, they heard a helicopter. It was Brady, who was there to bring them back to Salem.
Maggie sympathized with Melanie, who was suffering from morning sickness. Victor visited and reported that Vivian was being rescued, which meant he and Maggie could trip the light fantastic. Melanie entered and Victor apologized for what had happened and pledged his full support, despite how she felt about Philip. He left, promising to be in touch with Mags.
At the hospital, Daniel ran into Chloe and a crying Parker. Chloe snapped at her ex and said Parker missed his daddy. A torn Daniel went to the desk and handed her a stuffed animal of the baby's she left behind. He admitted that he missed them, but was called away by Ben before the conversation could go further.
Philip visited his mother chez DiMera and filled her in that Melanie was through with him. He asked Kate if she regretted leaving Bill Horton's name off of Lucas's birth certificate. "Every day," she whispered. He revealed that Chloe was delusional and thought she could still get Daniel back. Kate suggested that Philip take the baby from Chloe. He pointed out that it was sick to do that. "She has a lot on her plate right now," Philip added. Kate called him a wuss if he wouldn't rightfully claim his child. Stefano entered and congratulated Philip on being a father twice-over. Philip was dubious of his well wishing and asked what the pounding noise was in the manse. "Redecorating," Kate explained. Philip took off. Stefano was worked up and Kate asked why. He didn't want to talk about it.
Carly considered leaving town, but Jennifer urged her to stay. She brought up Bo, but Carly said he couldn't be in her life anymore. Jen noted that Bo would feel guilty if Carly left, but Carly said it was her life, not his. Jen also reminded her that she needed to be there for Melanie, since they would work things out someday. Carly casually mentioned that she heard from Bo, which piqued Jen's interest.
Hope slipped into Nathan's room; he was stunned to see her. She revealed that Bo broke her out of prison because she had solved the infirmary murders case. She asked how he was involved. He didn't understand. She explained about him picking up the phone of the warden's accomplice. Nathan said it wasn't his phone; it belonged to Ben Walters. He added that Ben was getting close to Jennifer. Hope gave him a note to deliver to their cousin.
Nathan entered the Pub to talk to Jen. Carly took off. He delivered the note from Hope. After, Jen met Hope at the hideaway boat and the pals shared a happy reunion. Hope told her about Ben's connection to the goings-on in at the jail. Hope handed Jen a secret cell number and instructions. Jen gave Hope a picture Ciara drew and a necklace she bought her for Christmas. Hope was touched.... Jen headed to the hospital to talk to Ben. She revealed that Hope was her cousin.
Nathan went to Maggie's, but she excused herself to leave him and Melanie alone. He declared his love and restated his desire to help Mel raise her baby. She thanked him for his offer and good heart, but admitted that she could only think about the baby and trying not to be sick. She asked him to go. A dejected Nathan left.
Maggie showed up at Victor's. He noted that she was early for their date, but she explained that she needed proof that Vivian had really been saved. He pulled up "Operation Airlift" on the computer. "Pick me up at 7 and I'll reserve a table at Chez Rouge," she told him. He said to leave the arrangements to him.
Carly visited Daniel. She was there for a minute before Chloe arrived, thanking Daniel for returning Parker's bunny. She asked what Carly was doing there, but he said it wasn't her concern. She reported that Parker was doing better. Awkward. He thanked her and shut the door on her. She headed to the Pub with the baby. Philip entered to hear his son crying. He calmed him down. Philip brought up changing Parker's name, since Parker was Daniel's mother's last name. Chloe refused and left in a huff.
Tuesday
A concerned Hope prayed for Bo's safety. At the hideout, Jane was dismayed to find Bo missing. She called Burt, her cohort, and reported that Bo had escaped. A hidden Bo revealed himself and attacked Jane. He then opened the door to see Burt, who tied him up again. Back at the boat, Hope worked with Leo on some leads. She said if anyone was harmed for helping her, she could never forgive herself.
Victor and Maggie discussed their upcoming date. He said it would be at the K manse, explaining they would have brunch, not dinner. Brady entered with a rescued Vivian. Maggie excused herself, saying they would reschedule. After Mags left, Vivian lit into Victor for taking up with Maggie. Brady got a drink, then left them alone. Vivian said she realized she was wasting her time with Victor, who clearly preferred chipped beef to filet mignon, and wanted a divorce. Victor was stunned, but completely elated. Vivian took off. Victor shared the good news with Brady. Victor asked for assurance that Vivian had turned over control of Titan. Brady verified that she did. The men toasted to freedom.
Vivian dropped in on Maggie and revealed she was divorcing Victor. She thanked Maggie for getting her off the island.
In the doctor's lounge, Jennifer spied Ben's keys and nearly swiped them when he was on the phone. Daniel entered before she could. Ben and Jen were headed out for coffee. They invited Daniel to join. He begged off at first, then agreed to go. At the Pub, Ben got a call, leaving Daniel and Jennifer alone. She talked to him about Carly and said her friend needed him. The conversation turned to Ben. Daniel pointed out to Jen that Ben liked her. She noted that she was married. Daniel left. Jen hugged Ben for being a good friend and put her hand in his pocket to get his keys.
Rafe visited with Johnny. Johnny asked Rafe if he could stay the night in his hospital room. Daniel said it would be fine, adding that the boy would be home soon. Johnny hoped he would be living with Rafe and Sami when he got out. Daniel and Rafe discussed the DiMeras. Rafe was dubious that EJ had really changed.
At the DiMera mansion, EJ was surprised to find the living room doors shut. Stefano was in there discussing the secret plans for the basement "project". Nicole came downstairs; EJ asked her to pick up Sydney at the hospital. They shared a warm moment discussing the kids.... Nicole arrived at the hospital and learned that Sydney was with Sami. She called EJ to tattle, but he wasn't interested in retaliating. Nicole was surprised. EJ arrived at the hospital to find Nicole and Johnny having a good time together. He was pleased. EJ was at his son's bedside when Rafe returned and Johnny greeted his chocolate milk- bearing stepdad happily. When a bothered EJ left the room, he noted to himself that Rafe wouldn't be around long.... Back at the manse, Stefano went over the basement arrangements that had to do with Rafe. Nicole's curiosity was piqued, but she didn't pursue it. The Phoenix welcomed her back to the fold.
Chad tried to get a job at Java, to no avail. Gabi entered and the two discussed Chad's complicated family ties. He felt lost without his mother; Gabi urged him to accept the DiMeras.
Wednesday
Kate dropped in to see Melanie, who didn't want to discuss Philip. Kate presented her with an enamel music box that was Philip's when he was a baby. Melanie again pointed out that she didn't want to talk about Philip. Kate urged her to think things through, pointing out it was better for Mel and Philip's baby to grow up with two parents.
Philip found Chloe at the Cheatin' Heart, drinking wine in the middle of the day, and asked who was watching Parker. Maggie, she replied. He noted that Chloe was nursing and shouldn't be drinking. She shot back that Parker was being bottle-fed now. They bickered over the baby and his name. Maggie arrived with a crying Parker and said he was hungry and that Chloe was supposed to have picked him up over an hour ago. "What happened?" she asked. Chloe sat there uneasily, so Philip scooped up his son. Maggie added that she didn't know where Chloe was. Philip was stunned, then took the baby for a walk. Chloe handed Philip the baby's pacifier before he headed out. When Philip left, Maggie asked if Chloe was okay. Chloe admitted she didn't know anymore and broke down in tears. A concerned Maggie asked if Chloe's mom could come to Salem, but Chloe said she was busy with Craig and Joy and she didn't want Nancy to know what a mess she had made of her life. Maggie invited Chloe to move in. Chloe was relieved and said yes immediately.
Jennifer hugged Ben and put her hand in his pocket to remove his keys to the infirmary. She successfully swiped them, then hurried off. She sneaked into the infirmary and got into the file cabinet. She found the reports of the women who had died mysteriously. The files were coded and had medical jargon, so Jen couldn't understand them. She took photos of them. Just then, Lee came to the door, but was stopped by Jane before she could enter. Jen tried to eavesdrop, but couldn't hear them whispering through the door. After they left, she slipped out. She returned to the Pub and put Ben's keys — after pocketing the one to the infirmary — on the bar. He came in as she was scrolling through the file photos.
The warden called Ben and reported she found an organ donor. "You should be getting a shipment tonight," she said as she looked at a photo of Bo.
At the mansion, Nicole asked EJ what was going on in the basement. EJ claimed his father was expanding the wine cellar, but Nicole called baloney. She suspected EJ was building a place for Sydney and Johnny to play and wanted to look at it. EJ said no. She agreed to stay out of it and just focus on the kids. EJ told her he was meeting with Sami and Rafe to discuss custody later and asked her to join.
Rafe and Sami discussed his skepticism over EJ's "transformation." The two looked over the custody agreement and were happily surprised there were no loopholes. He reported that he spoke to Nicole and she believed that she and EJ were through. Sami was relieved that Nicole would be out of their lives. Rafe said they needed to go to the courthouse later to sign the papers. The happy duo exchanged "I love yous," then had sex. After, they met with EJ. Nicole showed up, which surprised the Hernandezes. EJ reminded them that Nicole was going to be Johnny and Sydney's stepmom. He further explained that Nicole would get custody of the kids if something happened to him. Sami said she didn't want Nicole near her children — ever. She also felt that EJ was trying to trick her. Nicole insisted she would never harm the kids. Rafe urged Sami to sign the document, but she crumpled up the agreement and refused. She stormed out.
A woman who had a photo of Nicole tried to drum up a bus ticket to Salem.
Thursday
At the hospital, Daniel felt overwhelmed by everything going on his life, but Lexie calmed him down. She asked how things were between him and Chloe. He said there was nothing between them.
At Maggie's, Chloe thought of Daniel. She had a plan and rushed to the hospital with Parker, claiming the baby was sick. She asked for Daniel but Maxine looked over Parker and said he seemed okay. Daniel entered. Chloe told him she thought the baby was ill. Maxine indicated he wasn't. She excused herself so Chloe and Daniel could be alone. Daniel scolded his ex for faking the whole thing to see him and told her to go home. He said he would get her a ride. She asked him to call Maggie.
Rafe chastised EJ for ambushing Sami at the custody meeting. Nicole got involved; an argument ensued. EJ mediated and insisted he was sincere in wanting to work things out. Rafe left to find his wife.
Sami rushed to the Kiriakis mansion to talk to Justin about the agreement EJ wanted her to sign. He read through it and told her that EJ was a good lawyer and the contract was tighter than a drum. He suggested she sign. She headed back to the loft and talked to Rafe. He urged her to take EJ's deal, but she was still reluctant. He got a call; she took off while he was in the other room. He returned and found her gone, then followed her in his car. He felt she was driving too fast. Suddenly, she swerved, but got the car on course. Then, Rafe crashed behind her, which she spied in her rearview mirror.
Nicole and EJ returned to the DiMera mansion. Nic asked if EJ really believed she was good for his children. He teased that she was fishing for compliments, but she said she just wanted to know where she stood. Wherever she wanted to, he replied. He made them martinis — dirty, just the way she likes them — and they shared a warm moment.
Lexie visited with Johnny. He asked for his stuffed frog. She asked who gave it to him. "Someone named Chad," he replied. Chad tried to get a job at the Cheatin' Heart, but Adrienne told him to come back when he was 21. Later, he ran into Lexie at the Pub. They sat down together. She told him that he made an impression on Johnny. They then discussed the DiMera family and what it meant to be one. She said he would be a welcome addition to the family and urged him to think about it.
Justin visited Adrienne at the bar. They discussed their relationship and where it went wrong. She admitted she never stopped loving him. He was about to say the same thing and kissed her. She locked the door and the two had sex on the pool table.
Victor dropped by Maggie's, who was worried that Chloe had taken off with the baby. "Something's wrong," she said. Victor and Maggie arrived at the hospital to get Chloe after Daniel's call. They asked Daniel what happened. Dan warned Victor not to say anything disparaging about Chloe. Maggie went into see Chloe. Victor wondered if Chloe was fit to take care of the baby. Daniel said he didn't know, but noted it was hospital policy to call Child and Family Services. In the exam room, Chloe cried that Daniel hated her more than ever. Maggie hugged her, then took her home. She later found Chloe rocking back and forth, holding Parker's baby blanket.
Victor called Kate and said they needed to talk.... Daniel signed off on the report about Chloe. He then phoned Melanie and asked to meet.
Friday
An unconscious Rafe was rushed to the hospital and Sami pleaded with Ben to stay by his side. Ben assured Sami that they would do everything possible to save Rafe. Across town, Stefano received word of Rafe's accident and informed EJ and Nicole that it was possible that he might not make it. Stefano and EJ speculated that if Rafe died it would change everything. Stefano excused himself to talk privately with a contact on the phone. Nicole overheard their talk and asked EJ what they meant. EJ provided a false cover. The trio headed for the hospital. Sami learned from Ben that Rafe may have suffered brain damage. She sat by his bedside and tearfully apologized for her behavior. "When you come home, I'll be different," she promised. "I'm going to accept Nicole in our kids' lives." EJ and Nicole visited Rafe's hospital room and a guilt-ridden Sami agreed to sign the custody papers. Stefano questioned Ben about Rafe's condition, curious if there were any external injuries, such as cuts and gashes. His questions puzzled Ben. "I am merely concerned with my grandchildren's step-father," Stefano defended. Later, Ben gave Sami, EJ and Nicole a report on Rafe's condition. The prognosis was promising, but Ben also cautioned that there might be memory loss. Stefano learned the news and gloated to EJ that the accident would play nicely into their plans.
Bo tried to resist the intimidation from the crooked state investigator. "You're a disgrace to the uniform," Bo charged. The investigator taunted that Bo would be killed by a shot to the head. On the boat, Hope had a close call with a police officer but avoided detection. Elsewhere, Jennifer enlisted Carly's aide in help with decoding the prison's medical files. "I have a plan, but I'm going to need your help to pull it off," Jennifer explained. At the prison, Carly read the codes and realized that the warden was killing inmates for organs. Jane and Lee arrived. As the two stood outside the office, Carly and Jennifer overheard Jane's plan to execute Bo tonight. After Jane and Lee stepped away, Carly slipped out, while Jennifer stayed behind and phoned Hope with the news and provided the location where the execution was scheduled to take place. Lee found Jennifer and threatened, "You're not calling anyone ever again!" Ben phoned and informed Lee that he needed a heart asap. "It's your lucky night, doc," Lee snarled, as she looked in Jennifer's direction. "You'll have that heart within the hour." Hope and Carly arrived at the designated location, just as Lee and the investigator were about to execute Bo!
Victor updated Kate that Chloe brought Parker to Daniel and falsely claimed he was sick. "It seems that Chloe is on the verge of a mental breakdown," Victor disclosed. Kate celebrated the news and reasoned that it would make taking Parker away from Chloe easier. Victor refused to use Chloe's behavior against her. Meanwhile, Daniel recounted Chloe's desperate act to Melanie. He asked for Melanie's help in caring for Parker, no matter what happened, and she gave her promise. At Maggie's, Chloe deeply regretted faking Parker's illness. Chloe explained to Maggie it was a desperate ruse to remind Daniel how much he loved Parker. Maggie consoled Chloe and encouraged her to pull it together for Parker's sake. Concerned for Chloe, Maggie phoned Daniel and asked for his help. When Chloe saw Daniel, she misunderstood and thought Daniel was ready to reconcile. Daniel explained his reason for stopping by. "She shouldn't have called you," Chloe complained. Daniel provided Chloe with a number to a psychiatrist and offered a prescription to help her sleep. Chloe refused the help. "Why is it so damn hard for you to forgive me?" she questioned. Daniel made it clear that things were finished between them. Kate visited Melanie and sought help in taking Parker away from Chloe and destroying her.
