DAYS Week of January 3, 2011
Monday
EJ issued Nicole the final ultimatum — Brady or Sydney. "EJ, are you in love with me?" Nicole queried. "I do not love you, Nicole," EJ candidly answered. "Frankly, I don't really like you... and I have very little respect for you." After a private moment with Sydney, Nicole phoned Brady and said she needed to see him. The minute Brady met with Nicole he realized she was breaking up with him. Nicole explained that Vivian gave EJ the pictures and he was giving her another chance. "I'm sorry, okay? This is about Sydney. She needs me," Nicole cried. Before they parted ways, Nicole touched Brady's cheek and said tenderly, "I'll always love you."
Rafe comforted Sami over a New Year's Eve without Johnny and Sydney. Kayla phoned with news about Caroline's stroke. Sami visited Caroline and insisted she focus on taking care of herself and not to worry about the family. Inspired by Caroline's fighting spirit, Sami told Rafe she would accompany him to the fireworks.
Nicole returned home and EJ announced there was a new dressing waiting for her. He added that they were going out to celebrate New Year's. At the celebration, EJ and Nicole encountered Rafe and Sami. After EJ wished Rafe and Sami a Happy New Year, Sami lost her cool and verbally attacked Nicole. Nicole retaliated by hurling her champagne at Sami. EJ interrupted the festivities to announce that he and Nicole were engaged. "To the New Year," he toasted. "May all your wishes come true. I know mine have."
At the Brady pub, Kate crossed paths with Maggie and taunted that she and Victor were planning a New Year's Eve at home alone. Maggie said it was a great idea; Victor would need her at this time. Outside, Kate phoned Victor and left him a message, demanding to know what Maggie was talking about.
Melanie was still livid over Philip and Chloe's one night stand and urged Daniel to see legal custody of Parker. "Any judge in their right mind will see you're a better fit for the parent than those stupid people!" she reasoned. Daniel disagreed. "Taking Parker away from Chloe and Philip, that is the worst thing we can do," he noted. Daniel assured Melanie he loved her and that they would get through this terrible time together. When he left, Melanie broke down and wept. Meanwhile, a reluctant Chloe agreed to let Philip hold Parker. "I know you don't know me very well," Philip quietly told his son. "But that's all going to change because I'm going to be around a lot from now." Chloe insisted that Daniel was still Parker's father legally and that he would come back to his family. Philip scoffed that Chloe was deluding herself. Later, Philip returned to the Kirakis mansion, where Melanie walked out on him. Kate arrived and Philip updated her on Parker's paternity. Kate was appalled that Chloe was the mother of her newly acquired grandson, but she vowed to love him just the same. Kate also comforted Philip over his troubles with Melanie. Chloe imagined Daniel coming back to her and remembered last New Year's with him. Daniel recalled the same memory.
In Baltimore, Stephanie awoke with Nathaniel next to her. Their bliss was interrupted by a call from Kayla. Stephanie, who didn't know that Parker's paternity had been revealed, chose to ignore the call because she didn't want Kayla pressuring her to tell the truth about Parker. "She is like a dog with a bone," Stephanie muttered to herself. Nathaniel returned to bed and Stephanie urged that they get married immediately. She suggested they drive to Virginia, where there was no waiting period. Nathan agreed to marry Stephanie, but wanted to wait until New Year's Day. Stephanie listened to Kayla's message and learned that Caroline had a stroke.
Tuesday
Hope had a fantasy that she was reunited with Sydney. Meanwhile, Bo used a pay phone and called Carly at the hospital. He asked her to put him in touch
with Roman. Carly agreed, adding that she loved Bo and wanted him to be
safe. When the call ended, Bo realized the line was tapped. Returning to the
cabin, Bo told Hope they weren’t safe and needed to flee. Jane learned from
her state investigator contact that he traced Bo’s call to Carly, but Bo
left before they could grab him. Ben worried that he couldn’t get organs for
his dying patient.
EJ gave Nicole a bracelet, and revealed it was a tracking device. If she
tried to remove it, EJ would know and take Sydney away from her. “You’re
disgusting!” Nicole spit. EJ later informed his dad that he was marrying
Nicole. Stefano was astounded. “She kidnapped Sydney!” Stefano blustered. “I
kidnapped Sydney,” corrected EJ. “Everything needs to be taken in context...
You have no idea what this is going to do to Samantha. It will drive her
insane.” Stefano countered, “It is going to drive me insane!” EJ told Johnny
about his plans to wed Nicole. Johnny refused to accept the news. Rafe
crossed paths with Nicole and taunted her about marrying EJ. He predicted
that her plan to get Sydney would ultimately fall apart. Nicole warned Rafe
that they’d both be the losers if Sami tried anything foolish with EJ.
Sami assured Rafe she wouldn’t do anything reckless to harm EJ and Nicole.
She ran into Brady and discovered that Nicole left him to marry EJ and be
with Sydney. For selfish reasons, Sami encouraged Brady not to give up on
Nicole. Brady expected Sami’s help in breaking up Nicole and EJ. “I want you
to find a way to make EJ wish he died the night you shot him,” Brady
advised. On the pier, Sami faked a call to Brady, saying it was okay for him
and Nicole to use her place as their secret love nest behind EJ’s back,
fully aware that Stefano overheard everything.
Wednesday
Stephanie and Nathan returned to Salem.
Nicole visited and Chloe and got the update on her problems wih Daniel. “I've lost Daniel, which means I've lost everything,” Chloe shared. Chloe expressed her hope that Daniel would come back. Nicole encouraged Chloe to give up on that fantasy and start taking care of herself and Parker. Meanwhile, Daniel asked Victor if he would look after Chloe and Parker. “That's just not gonna happen,” Victor responded. Victor explained that Vivian has taken over Titan and he has no access to his money. He assured Daniel he would soon clear it up and create a trust fund for Parker. Daniel returned to his home and Chloe was overjoyed. “I had a dream that you were coming back to us!” she exclaimed.
Sami faked a conversation with Brady, pretenfing to lend her place to Brady and Nicole, fully aware that Stefano was listening. “Elvis wants to put you in jail. Do you think it's a wise time to team up with Brady and Nicole?” wondered Stefano, who then walked away, happily humminh to himself. “Hook, line and sinker,” Sami smiled to herself. Later, Sami planted evidence in her apartment to make it look like Nicole and Brady had a tryst.
EJ tried explaining to a resistant Johnny why he wanted to marry Nicole. “I want my mommy!” the boy insisted. EJ lied that Sami wanted to live with Rafe and felt it was best for Johnny to be with EJ.
Stefano returned home and revealed that Nicole was still seeing Brady. “And not for tips about child care,” Stefano added.
EJ visited Sami at her place and insisted that Stefano was wrong about Nicole and Brady seeing each other. He also laughed off Sami's manipulations as staged props. Switchiing gears, EJ asked Sami to back off because Nicole was busy planning a wedding.
Nicole returned to the DiMera mansion and argued with Stefano about her upcoming marriage to EJ.
At the Brady pub, Jennifer was on her computer, miffed by Jack's latest blog. Ben suggested the walkabout could be a good thing for Jennifer and Jack's marriage. Jennifer disagreed. Ben wondered if Jennifer was finished with Jack. Ben also shared his frustration about not getting much needed organs for his seriously ill patients.
Kayla visited Caroline at her hospital bedside. Kayla gave her the update on the rest of the family. When Kayla said that Stephanie was on her way, Caroline pleaded, “Tell her to stay away!... Don't let her come home!” Caroline got an assurance from Kayla that she would keep Stephanie out of the mess involving the switched paternity test. Outside Caroline's room, Roman said to Kayla it didn't make any sense their mother had the information that led to the paternity switch.
Thursday
Sami can't shake the idea that Nicole will become Johnny and Sydney's step-mother. "I can promise you this, EJ,” Sami asserted. "If having Nicole as a mother makes my children more miserable than they already are, the next time I'll make sure I kill you.” Meanwhile, Johnny ran away from home and found Rafe at the police station. "I want my mommy,” the boy stated. Rafe contacted Sami, who showed up and had a moment with her son. "I am your one and only mommy,” she insisted. "Promise me you will never do ths again.” At the DiMera mansion, EJ and Stefano had their men search the grounds. EJ was furious with Stefano and Nicole for not taking better care of Johnny. Rafe finally called EJ and said Johnny was at the station. After getting into it with Sami and Rafe at the station, he took Johnny home. Sami confided to Rafe that Johnny didn’t want Nicole to be his mother, and vowed he would get what he wanted.
Philip confronted Vivian about making Chloe think that Carly and Daniel were having an affair. Vivian denied it. "In spite of everything I find it very difficult to see you in pain,” offered Vivian. "I absolve you of everything.” Philip countered, "I don't absolve you. I'll see you in hell!” Vivian received a phone call with an enticing business offer and made plans to fly to Bermuda with Gus. Brady and Kate put their plan in motion to get Vivian out of the picture. While Vivian and Gus were on a flight to deal with supposed Titan business, they were pushed out of the plane!
Nathan told Stephanie he heard the truth about Parker and the blood work being switched. "Why would she meddle in Daniel and Chloe's life?” he wondered. "They're no concern of hers.” Stephanie claimed ignorance. Nathan was called away as Kayla returned. She explained to Stephanie that her name was kept out of the reveal. "Nathan knows everything,” she informed her mom, "and if he finds out I was a part of it my future with him is over.” Stephanie vowed she was finished with her mom if Kayla said anything to Nathan. Kayla assured Stephanie she would keep quiet. Stephanie and Kayla visited Caroline, whose blood pressure shot up when she saw Stephanie. Nathan came in. After Caroline settled down, Nathan wondered what made Caroline upset. Kayla covered and refrained from telling Nathan about Stephanie’s role in keeping the paternity secret. Stephanie revealed to Nathan that Philip was the father of Chloe's baby. In a talk with Maggie, Nathan commented that Melanie was better off without Philip.
Philip visited Melanie and encountered Maggie, who was furious at him because of his terrible behavior. After Maggie left, Melanie questioned Philip about his plans for Parker. "I don't know yet,” Philip answered, "whatever is best for him.” Melanie offered a suggestion. "I think I know what that is. I think you should do what you did with your other little boy and stay the hell out of his life before you hurt him just like you do everything else that you touch.” Later, Nathan showed up at Melanie's door. Kayla told Stephanie she couldn’t promise no one else will tell Nathan the truth, and later, Stephanie found herself face to face with Philip. "Have you heard about everything?” Philip questioned. "Do you have a minute?... I'd like to talk to you, about what you did.”
Friday
Nathan visited Melanie. Looking at her tear-stained face, Nathan said, "I do not like seeing you hurt like this." Melanie confided, "I obviously didn't want to see what was right in front of me, that you were right, that he was wrong for me and that I made a big mistake." Nathan wanted to further comfort Melanie but she urged him to leave, and noted that he had a wedding to prepare for. Meanwhile, Philip figured out Stephanie knew all along that he was Parker’s father. She pleaded with him not to let anyone know that because if Nathan found out, he might break up with her and reunite with Melanie. She pointed out that if that happened, it would ruin any chance Philip had of getting Melanie back. Philip promised not to tell Stephanie’s part in it all. However, Nathan arrived in time to overhear the last part of their conversation. Later, Nathan slipped in and read an email Stephanie sent to Ian, telling him not tell anyone what they did. Stephanie modeled her wedding dress for Kayla. Soon after, Nathan, having learned all from Ian, burst in to confront Stephanie.
Alone with Parker, Chloe wept, "We're going to be a happy family again." Chloe answered a knock at the door and was surprised to see Kate. "Hello, Chloe. I've come to see my grandson," Kate taunted. Cradling Parker, Kate commented that he had dimples, just like his father. Chloe left the room to put Parker to bed and Kate quietly whispered to herself that she had plans for Chloe. Philip arrived and ordered his mom to leave. Chloe confided to Philip that she had no intention of leaving her and Daniel's home.
Bo and Hope sought help from Leo, an old merchant pal. Leo gave them his boat to use as an escape. "You two seem like a great team," Leo observed. "I'm out of here!" Alone with Hope, Bo shared, "This old tub kind of reminds me of the Fancy Face." Later, they dropped anchor in a secluded spot where they used to enjoy private time. Next, Bo and Hope tried to investigate via computer what Jane and Lee were up to. Meanwhile, Lee encountered Jennifer, who claimed she was working overtime in Jane's office. After Jennifer left, Lee snarled to Jane, "Nobody's that much of a go-getter! It's gotta be an act!... Maybe you should do a background check." Jane dismissed Lee's fears and insisted there was nothing for Jennifer to find out. Lee convinced Jane to start selling organs again in case they’re caught and need money to skip town. Ben phoned Jane and pleaded he had important patient in desperate need of a kidney. Soon after, Ben expressed his frustration to Jennifer, who was was sympathetic. Jane called Ben and said she would deliver a kidney within the hour. Back on the boat, Bo and Hope discovered Jane making calls to someone on a secret cell phone, but were unable to find out who the number belonged to. Bo reminded Hope they made a good team and always have.
Vivian and Gus landed on a deserted island. Vivian tried to figure out their location. After a supply crate was airdropped to them, they realized they were going to be there for a while. Vivian vowed to weather the ordeal. She raised her fist and declared, "As Gus is my witness, I will survive!"
