DAYS Week of January 5, 2009
Monday
Sami woke up thinking of EJ. She panicked when she heard Rafe moaning and found him burning up with fever. Sami wanted to call a doctor, but Rafe insisted she couldn't. Once his fever broke, all would be fine. Sami decided to give Rafe a sponge bath to bring down his temperature. Mission accomplished. Later, while Rafe slept, Sami tried to take the cell phone from his hand, but he held on tightly.
EJ asked Nicole why she didn't tell him her car broke down. Nicole said his marriage proposal made her forget all about it. EJ was skeptical and wanted to talk about it. Nicole agreed and handed him her engagement ring. She told EJ she wasn't a fragile flower who needed a man taking care of her. EJ agreed not to be so controlling and gave Nicole her ring back, as she remembered back to losing their baby. The pair kissed as EJ's briefcase fell open to reveal a pre-nup agreement. EJ noted it was Stefano's doing and ripped it up, professing his love for Nicole. Nicole, in turn, noted how much EJ meant to her. Later, Nicole paid a visit to Dr. Baker to discuss him finding her a baby. Baker noted having a pregnant woman there New Year's Eve, but Nicole not showing up. Now he wasn't sure it could happen.
Bo questioned Philip about his New Year's Eve with Stephanie. Philip wondered if Bo had a problem with him dating Steph. Bo warned Philip not to break Steph's heart, reminding him she was "special." Meanwhile, Steph arrived at Titan looking for Philip. Melanie taunted her about losing him already. "It's been really hard," said Steph. "So you broke up?" asked Melanie. Steph, who was toying with her, chuckled. Steph knew Melanie hated seeing her and Philip together, because Melanie wanted him. Steph told Melanie that she and Philip had "an amazing" New Year's together. Steph's cell rang and it was Philip asking her to get together at his place. She said bye to Melanie and left. Steph arrived at Philip's and said she was sure about the two of them being together. They kissed, but Philip stopped things, insisting they needed space. Steph was furious. Philip admitted he'd made mistakes with women and couldn't live with himself if he hurt her. Steph assured Philip she was a big girl and asked if they could go to his room. They did and things got hot and heavy. "Are you sure?" asked Philip. Steph swore she was.
Melanie went to see Maggie, who noted Nick's sentencing was coming up and he wanted Melanie there. Melanie agreed to go. Maggie confronted Melanie about the game she was playing on New Year's Eve with Philip and cautioned she wouldn't be able to wrap him around her finger. Melanie admitted knowing Philip was trouble, so she'd stay away from him. When Maggie left, Melanie smirked and muttered about doing something at Nick's hearing.
While Theo saw Dr. Mark, Lexie took a call from Stefano, asking her to bring the tyke over for a visit. He had a gift for him. Lexie refused. Dr. Mark emerged with Theo, noting the boy was agitated. Dr. Mark thought a special reward might help Theo. Lexie took Theo to Stefano's, where she and her father got into a spat. In the interim, Theo wandered off toward the staircase.
Later, at the police station, Hope mentioned Bo getting the present of a lifetime this Christmas: his visions stopping. Bo noted it being "the one good thing" in his life lately. Hope took offense and went to close the blinds, so she could move in on Bo. Bo told her not to. It was becoming a running joke with the other cops. Hope told Bo he needed a break and suggested going to Mountain View Lodge. Bo agreed to go, if Hope could make a reservation. Suddenly, Bo got a vision of Theo climbing up stairs, while Lexie and Stefano argued. Meanwhile, Lexie discovered Theo falling down the steps at the DiMera mansion and screamed.
Tuesday
Dr. Baker told Nicole the pregnant woman who was going to give up her baby changed her mind. Nicole wanted her name, so she could talk to her, mother to mother. Dr. Baker reminded Nicole she wasn't a mother. Nicole went ballistic, grabbed the woman's file, and ran off. Later, Nicole met Mia, noting Dr. Baker told her where she could find her and that she was the woman who was going to adopt her baby. Mia said she'd changed her mind; then, went on about her awful life. Nicole promised she'd take good care of Mia's baby. Mia started coming around, until she noticed the engagement ring on Nicole's finger. Mia said she couldn't give Nicole her baby if she wasn't married. Nicole swore she and EJ were committed to one another and told Mia about her pregnancy and miscarriage. Mia decided to give Nicole her baby on one condition: she wanted to meet the daddy.
Philip and Stephanie undressed and rolled around on his bed, when he suddenly said they couldn't do this. Steph felt humiliated. Philip explained he cared way too much about her to do this. Steph realized he was thinking about his past and the other women in it, but said she didn't care about them. She wanted to live in the moment. Philip and Steph resumed kissing, but decided not to g o all the way. This relationship was different for both of them. Philip invited Steph out to a private dinner for two. She accepted.
Daniel arrived to see Kate with a movie in hand. Kate admitted she wanted to spend time with Daniel, but not watching a movie. She had something to tell him. Kate noted that she wanted to take her life in a new direction. Hence, she was ending things with Daniel. Kate wanted to concentrate on her family and herself. She assured Daniel he'd always have a place in her heart and wanted to remain friends. Daniel got a call from the hospital and had to leave on an emergency. Steph and Philip found Kate in the living room. Kate asked to speak to Philip alone and revealed she always thought Steph would be the perfect girl for him. Then, she announced she was tossing Chloe and Lucas an engagement party and asked Philip to bring Steph.
Bo had a vision of Theo falling down a flight of stairs just as it happened. Hope walked in and realized he'd had another premonition. Bo said he'd called for an ambulance. At the DiMera mansion, Lexie hovered over Theo, while Stefano phoned 911. He learned an ambulance was already on the way. Bo and Hope arrived just as Theo was being wheeled off. Stefano explained what happened to Hope. Later, Theo was wheeled into the hospital. Tony raced in to support a sobbing Lexie. An EMT asked how Bo knew to call the ambulance, when he wasn't at the scene of the accident. Stefano was curious about that, too. Lexie blamed herself for Theo's accident. Tony assured her she was a good mother and couldn't watch Theo 24/7. Bo and Hope stepped off to talk, but Bo was at a loss to explain what was going on. Daniel arrived, and Theo was wheeled off for a CT scan. Tony tried to contact Abe to no avail, while Hope tried to comfort Lexie. Daniel emerged with the test results on Theo: he needed surgery to release the pressure on his brain. Stefano said he respected Daniel, but wanted to bring in a specialist. Daniel informed him there was no time for that. Tony ran off to look for Abe.
Wednesday
Mia agreed to let Nicole adopt her baby, if she could meet the father. "No! You can't," freaked Nicole, noting her fiancé was out of town. Mia thought Nicole was acting strange and turned to leave. Nicole stopped her, saying her fiancé would be home later in the day and she'd arrange a meeting. They agreed to meet in an hour at Mia's place.
Brady watched EJ chastising one of the DiMera minions and asked what was going on. EJ told him it was none of his business. Brady expressed his concern regarding Nicole. "I don't think she has any idea in the world what kind of guy you really are," said Brady. Brady and EJ bickered, then Brady got a call from Nicole and had to split. EJ entered the pub to find Chloe and Lucas. Chloe showed EJ her ring and announced she and Lucas were engaged. EJ responded that he and Nicole were engaged, too. When Chloe went to phone Nicole, EJ told Lucas he told Sami she was free. "Why the hell would I want to know that?" snapped Lucas, noting he didn't want EJ's sloppy seconds. He'd moved on. Later, Chloe and Lucas met Kate at the Kiriakis mansion. Kate announced she was hosting an engagement party for them tonight. Chloe noted it wasn't a good time for her, as she flashed back to Daniel. Bes ides, she didn't want Kate to put herself out. Ultimately, Chloe agreed to go ahead with the party. Kate was delighted and left to invite another guest: Daniel. Alone, Lucas asked Chloe why she didn't want to have the party. Was she having second thoughts about marrying him? Despite continuing to think about Daniel, Chloe insisted she wasn't.
Brady met Nicole, noticed she wasn't wearing her pregnancy padding, and assumed she told EJ she lost their baby. Nicole said she didn't, and she and Brady bickered. Then, she told Brady what was going on with Mia and asked him to pretend he was her fianc. Brady refused, noting he was tired of lying. Nicole implored Brady to help her, noting how empty she felt without her baby. She needed Mia's baby to feel whole again. Just then Mia walked up and asked if Brady was Nicole's' fiance.
Daniel explained Theo's dire condition to Lexie at the hospital. "If we don't perform this procedure, Theo will die," announced Daniel. Lexie signed surgery consent forms, and Abe arrived. Lexie explained what happened; Abe comforted his wife. Stefano phoned EJ and summoned him to the hospital. Then, he told Lexie he had another surgeon on the way. Lexie didn't want another surgeon and told Stefano to leave. Daniel appeared and announced Theo survived surgery and that he was optimistic the tyke would pull through. A grateful Lexie and Abe hugged. EJ lent his support to his sister. Daniel checked on Lexie to see how she was holding up. Lexie noted that a tragedy like this reminded them all not to put things off. "We must tell the people we love how we feel. Not tomorrow or the next day. Right now," she counseled. EJ and Stefano discussed business, while Abe and Lexie went to see Theo. Kate arrived and Daniel filled her in on what happened. Kate invited Daniel to Lucas and Chloe's party.
Bo and Hope discussed Bo's visions at the pub. Hope suggested Bo talk to Kayla or a psychiatrist. "It's not going to happen," retorted Bo. Hope explained she just wanted to help her tormented hubby. Bo insisted on keeping his little psychic secret between the two of them. Ciara arrived and sat on her daddy's lap. Bo asked Hope for her support and she agreed. Soon Abe phoned with the good news about Theo, and Bo, Hope and Ciara shared a hug.
Thursday
Chelsea arrived at Chez Rouge to pick up a cake for Lucas and Chloe's party and ran into Max. Max asked if Chelsea had been avoiding him, since running out on him on New Year's Eve. She swore she hadn't. Max noted they'd agreed to be friends. Chelsea wondered if friends went around kissing each other. The pair went back and forth about their confusing new relationship. When the waitress delivered the cake to Chelsea, she mentioned Lucas and Chloe's party and not feeling like going to it. Max suggested she attend with a good looking guy. Chelsea thought Max wanted to escort her because he felt sorry for her, and said she was fine attending solo.
Brady refused to pose as Nicole's baby's daddy, just as Mia interrupted and asked if he was Nicole's fiancé. "No, I'm not," answered Brady. Mia ran off, yelling Nicole was never going to have her baby. Nicole freaked and accused Brady of ruining her life. Brady said Nicole was lashing out at him because she couldn't lash out at EJ. He suggested Nicole felt EJ wouldn't love her enough without the baby, but urged her to take a leap of faith and tell him the truth. Nicole wouldn't listen to reason, so Brady told her he was done helping her and left. Nicole was sobbing about wanting to be a mother when Mia returned. Mia realized how badly Nicole wanted her baby and suggested they work things out, but she still wanted to meet Nicole's fianc. Nicole promised to arrange a meeting as soon as EJ returned from his business trip. Mia left, and Nicole vowed to make this work.
John told Charlotte he was ready to proceed with hypnosis. Charlotte noticed Marlena and noted she and John were having a private conversation. Marlena insisted she wasn't eavesdropping. When Charlotte left, Marlena told John she was proud he was proceeding with hypnotherapy. John admitted wanting to know the truth about his past no matter what. Marlena suggested John didn't want to give up his sessions with Charlotte. John was surprised Marlena was acting so hostile and noted he just couldn't win with her. Marlena apologized and wished him good luck. On his way out, John bumped into Brady. Brady joined Marlena, who filled him in on John's pending hypnotherapy.
Kate invited Daniel to Lucas and Chloe's engagement party. Daniel didn't understand why Kate wanted him there. Kate wondered if Daniel didn't want to be around her or Chloe. Daniel said she was making too much of it and left to tend to Theo. Kate asked him to attend the party for her. Back at the mansion, Chloe noticed a wrapped box and assumed Lucas got her a present. Chloe read the card and saw the gift was from Kate. Lucas couldn't believe how accepting Kate was of Chloe and noted how, outside of his kids, Chloe was the best thing that ever happened to him. Chloe led Lucas to bed. Soon, Kate knocked and interrupted. Kate turned to leave, but Chloe stopped her and opened her gift. Chloe loved the green dress inside. Lucas left to let Chloe change, as she thought about Daniel.
Downstairs, Kate and Lucas greeted Daniel. Lucas noted Chloe was upstairs getting ready. Kate was glad Daniel decided to come. Lucas wondered why he wouldn't. Kate said she and Daniel had broken up. Lucas punched Daniel. Kate explained Daniel didn't dump her, they just decided to be friends. Lucas apologized. Daniel headed upstairs to get a first aid kit, but ended up knocking on Chloe's door. Thinking it was Lucas, Chloe asked him to zip her dress. Then, she turned and saw Daniel! Chelsea arrived downstairs. Upstairs, Chloe wondered what happened to Daniel's face. "Did you tell him?" she askeed. "It had nothing to do with us," responded Daniel. Chloe insisted there was no "us." Daniel told Chloe she didn't have to marry a man she didn't love with her whole heart and said it would be cruel to go through with this engagement party. Chloe thought breaking Lucas' heart would be cruel and professed her love for him. Daniel begged Chloe not to go through with this charade.
Friday
Rafe woke up from a bad dream about Sami being in trouble. Sami assured she was fine and urged him to go back to sleep; then, tried to swipe his phone. She finally pried it loose, when Rafe woke up and asked what was going on. Sami fretted about the feverish Rafe, who swore he'd be fine. He just needed aspirin and a cold shower. Sami pointed out he couldn't even stand up. Rafe said that was where Sami came in. Sami agreed to help him. Rafe told Sami to get him to the shower. He'd handle the rest. Once Rafe was escorted off, Sami grabbed his phone and dialed. Hilda arrived and grabbed the phone from Sami. Hilda noted they were closing in on the killer. Sami needed to be patient. Meanwhile, the killer met with an informant, who showed him Hilda's photo and said she knew where Sami was. Hilda left, leaving Rafe's phone behind, after Sami swore she wouldn't make another call. Rafe emerged from the shower and went back to bed, while the killer found Hilda on the docks and said she had something he wanted. Rafe nodded off, and Sami left the safe house.
Lucas told Chelsea about Kate and Daniel's split. Chelsea wondered if Daniel met someone else. Upstairs, Chloe insisted she wanted to go down to the party. "Look me in the eye and tell me you want me to go, demanded Daniel. Kate interrupted Lucas and Chelsea's chat. Chelsea asked why Kate let Daniel go. Kate noted if you love someone, you set them free. Chloe and Daniel locked lips, until Chloe abruptly stopped things and accused Daniel of just wanting to score. She was with Lucas, and Daniel was with Kate. Daniel explained he and Kate were over. Still, Chloe professed to love Lucas. Daniel wondered if Chloe thought about Lucas day and night. Chloe said she wanted a life with Lucas and was going to be a faithful wife. Daniel said Lucas wanted Chloe to want him. "Like I want you?" asked Chloe, insisting this wasn't love. Daniel insisted there was a connection between him and Chloe and grabbed her. Lucas and Chelsea discussed Daniel and Kate's breakup and Lucas and Chloe's relationship. Upstairs, Chloe tried to fight her attraction to Daniel to no avail. Lucas decided to fetch his fiancé and headed to the bedroom where Chloe and Daniel were getting hot and heavy.
Melanie approached Max and asked him what was wrong. Max explained he was invited and uninvited to a party all in the span of a minute. Melanie wanted to know who did the inviting and uninviting. "Was it Chelsea?" she asked. Max said he and Chelsea were friends and told Melanie to stop jumping to conclusions. Melanie wanted more details. Max told her about the engagement party for Chloe and Lucas and how Chelsea "sort of" invited him, but decided she didn't want h im there. Melanie noted Max was sulking. Max insisted he was happy. Melanie didn't buy it.
Maggie probed Marlena about her situation with John. Marlena noted sensing a change in John and that she was scared for him. She just wished she knew more about Charlotte. Marlena admitted being a little professionally jealous of Charlotte. She wished she was the one getting through to John. Maggie sensed Marlena's worry and suspicion and encouraged her to check up on Charlotte. Alone, Marlena looked up Charlotte on the Internet.
John arrived in Charlotte's office, as she prepared to videotape his hypnotherapy session. Then, he dropped a bombshell: he decided not to go through with it. Charlotte encouraged John to take a risk, if he wanted his memory and life back. Later, Charlotte put John under and instructed him to visualize a private place. She asked what John remembered about yesterday; then, went back in time. John said he saw nothing but darkness. Charlotte urged John to look into the darkness, because he'd see a light and then something from his past. Suddenly, John flashed back to himself and Marlena from years past. "What do you remember?" asked Charlotte. "The love of my life," smiled John.
