Dr. Dan asked Sami if she knew anything about Grace's birth parents. She said she had a way to find out. Nicole, who was listening in, prayed for Sami to keep her mouth shut. A surprised EJ asked Sami what was up. Sami explained that she was protecting the baby from her parents, but would give any information she needed to to help Grace. A nurse fetched Daniel and told him that the baby's fever had spiked. He asked Sami if he had her permission to do a lumbar puncture. She tearily told him to do what he needed to do. She began to freak out. EJ tried to calm her down. He pulled her into his arms and assured her Grace was in good hands. Stefano came upon Nicole lurking. "Along came a spider," he drawled, then pointed out that EJ and Sami seemed awfully cozy. Sami took off to call Rafe and left him another frantic message. Stefano and Nicole approached EJ. He told them what was going on. He then asked Nicole if he could speak to Stefano alone. She excused herself. EJ asked his father about Owen and Stephanie. The Phoenix told him everything was under control.

Will tried to get through to both Rafe and Sami, but couldn't. He wanted to go to the hospital; Mia offered to go with him. She grabbed Grace's blanket to bring. Sami was happy to see them. Mia spied Nicole and went to talk to her. Nicole was alarmed that Mia was with Will. Mia refused to stay away from him. Sami filled Will in about Grace's condition. She warned him that she may have to reveal things about Grace's birth parents that Will might not want to hear. Will went to get them something to drink. Sami called Roman and asked him to go track Rafe at the construction site. He said he would.

Stephanie and Philip arrived back at the Kiriakis mansion. They kissed. Kate came in and was thrilled and relieved to see the duo. They asked how Billie was doing. Kate reported that she was better. Kate asked about their engagement and squealed over the ring. She welcomed Steph to her new home. Roman came in and said he didn't think so, then asked to speak to Steph alone. He hugged her and expressed his concern over her ordeal. She insisted she was fine. He told her he wanted her to pack up and get out of the house. She said no way. "I'm not leaving. I love Philip and he makes me feel safe," she insisted. He warned her that the Kiriakis way of life was very dark and she had to weigh whether or not it was the kind of life she wanted. She dismissed her kidnapping as situational and "bad luck." Roman left. Philip asked Steph what the conversation was all about. She told him and vowed to stick with him. She said she wouldn't lie to the police, but she would never hurt Phil. He took her up to bed, where they made love. He promised he would protect her always.

At the Pub, Chloe was ready to come clean with Lucas. She told him it was about their past, but he didn't want to hear about anything from the past. He assured her their lives were perfect. She was insistent that she had something to say. Before she could, Lucas's cell phone rang. It was Will, who reported that Grace was in the hospital. Lucas took off. Chloe fantasized about telling Lucas and him freaking out and turning back to the bottle. Kate came in and broke her reverie. She airily told Chloe how happy Philip and Steph were and how she found their love inspirational. She then told Chloe that she was going to give her another chance and asked her to return to her hosting job at HEARTH & HOME. "Sure, why not?" Chloe replied.

Lucas arrived at the hospital. Sami asked Will to return to the townhouse and get some of Grace's things. Once the teen left, Lucas asked Sami if she was going to come clean and admit she was Grace's mother. She said she wanted to do it to help Grace. He gave her his full support and wished her luck. Stefano and EJ approached. Stefano told Sami he was sorry for what she was going through. She thanked him and asked to speak to EJ alone. She was about to tell EJ the truth when Daniel approached and told her that Grace was very sick and it was more serious than they originally expected.

In the chapel, Nicole prayed — aloud — for way out of this mess. Stefano came in. "Impossible," he said. "There is no way to reverse what you have done, Nicole. Not even God can help you now." She covered that she was praying for Sami's baby. Sami's baby is fine, he noted, adding that the baby fighting for her life wasn't Sami's baby at all. "And you of all people should know that, since you are the one who has Sami's real baby," he told her calmly.
