Monday
Melanie came running into Maggie's house with flowers for Chloe. Philip was surprised. She admitted that if Chloe made her dad happy, it made her happy, too. Daniel overheard and was thrilled to have his daughter's support. Philip left them alone. Melanie excitedly gave Daniel a pendant of the patron saint of marriage. He was moved and they had a good heart to heart.
At the hospital, Chloe worried about Carly's threat to tell Daniel the truth if she didn't. Dr. Manning visited Chloe, who tried to plead her case. "I made one mistake and you have been torturing me about it ever since," she sighed, then refused to cave into Carly's blackmail. Carly urged her to buy time and postpone the nups. After Carly left, Vivian slithered in, demanding to know what went wrong with their plan. Chloe tried to explain, but Viv left in a huff.... Philip visited Chloe, who admitted that she felt she should just tell Daniel the truth. He flipped and told her not to -- ever. She said she would never reveal she had sex with Philip, but he still urged her to keep mum. He added that Daniel was so excited to get married that if she postponed, he would know something was up. "So either way, I lose," she lamented.... Daniel and Melanie arrived for the ceremony. Melanie gave Chloe the flowers. She was touched. Father Matt came in, and Chloe announced they couldn't get married.
Nicole flipped out on Dr. Baker, worried that EJ had the goods on her. They argued over which of them was more culpable in Arianna's cover-up. Baker noted that their finger-pointing was not helping anything. He urged Nicole to keep quiet. She agreed, but worried about EJ finding out. Baker pointed out that he was duped by Nic's pregnancy pad for months, so they had nothing to worry about. Nicole advised Dr. B to lie low, but he planned on winning some of his money back at the poker game.
Brady talked to a guy named Lamar at the Pub about the money clip. Lamar claimed not to know who had the clip at the poker game, so Brady paid him to spill. Lamar revealed there would be another floating poker game that day. Brady took a cell phone shot of Lamar as insurance.... Brady went to the poker game and bought his way past the guard at the door. Baker entered and recognized Brady. He backed out and ran into another player. Baker lied that Brady was a cop and suggested they spike his drink. The player added a powder to Brady's ginger ale.
In the South American prison, Shane and Rafe made escape plans. A guard came to tell Shane that he would be dying that day and took him away.
At the DiMera manse, EJ flashed to kissing Sami. She tried to slip out of the house without talking to him, but he caught her. He told her not to run away from what happened between them. She told him that's what she does and said what happened between them was a big mistake. He announced that wouldn't chase after her. She got flustered and demanded to know what he wanted. He showed her the picture Johnny drew of their family. She took it and left. Stefano returned home. EJ told him that he suspected Nicole had set up Ari amd vowed to prove he was right. EJ could tell Stefano was upset and asked what was wrong. With a heavy sigh, Stefano told his son that Alice was dying. EJ asked Stefano to keep mum so he could be the one to tell Sami. Stefano agreed; EJ left. Stefano got a call with an update about Rafe.
Nicole arrived at the DiMera manse, looking for Brady, but ran into Vivian. Vivian realized Nic was in love with Brady and warned Nic that Brady's heart would always be with Arianna.... EJ ran into a spooked Nicole on the pier. He told her she slipped up in her plot to frame Arianna and he would get her. She was rattled.
Sami returned home and thought about Rafe. He came to her in her dream. Back in the prison, a guard came for Rafe and explained he was a "friend" who was there to get him out of the clink. When Rafe's back was turned, the guard prepared to strangle him.
Tuesday
At the poker game, Brady drank the spiked drink. He tried to pump the other players for information about the money clip, but began to feel woozy. He quickly exited and headed to the pier, where he passed out. Baker followed him and poured alcohol down Brady's throat.
EJ checked in with his father and asked about Anna's condition.... In the hospital, Anna finally woke up. She unhooked herself from the monitors and planned to slip out without Stefano's men finding her. She got dressed, then heard voices outside. She got back in bed and pretended to be out cold. A man entered her room, then left.
Sami read about Arianna's case in the paper and wondered why Rafe hadn't checked in. The phone rang — it was Lucas, who told her about Alice. EJ came home and found her in tears. He said he wanted to be the one to tell her and offered to take her to see Mrs H.
In South America, a guard tried to strangle Rafe. They fought and Rafe overtook his attacker. Shane returned with the guard and surveyed the scene. The guard didn't recognize Rafe's attacker. While the guard's back was turned, Rafe knocked him out cold and he and Shane escaped. They said their good-byes. Rafe arrived in Anna's hospital room and found it empty.
Father Matt began Chloe and Daniel's hospital room ceremony, but she stopped the proceedings. An alarmed Daniel asked what was wrong. She asked to speak to Daniel alone. Carly took the group outside. Melanie didn't understand why Chloe halted the nups. Carly suggested that they go somewhere private to talk, but Philip said no. He quickly covered. Back inside, Chloe tried to explain to Daniel why she couldn't marry him. Father Matt interrupted to see if he could help. She said yes, explaining she wanted to receive absolution before she and Dan wed. Daniel excused himself. Chloe began her confession and told the priest that she cheated on Daniel with Philip. She also told him that Carly was pushing her to come clean and asked him to talk to Carly for her. Father Matt said he couldn't do that and added that getting married wasn't going to fix their problems.
Stephanie and Nathan joined Jennifer and Adrienne at the Horton house. Jennifer took Nathan up to see Alice while Adrienne chatted with Steph. Steph told her aunt that she wasn't pregnant and that she owned up to Nathan about not taking her pills. Adrienne mentioned that she ran into Philip earlier coming out of Daniel and Chloe's apartment. Jennifer and Nathan came back downstairs and updated them on Alice's condition. The doorbell rang: It was Sami and EJ. Jen took Sami to visit with Alice. Nathan and Steph headed back to the hospital. EJ checked on Anna. Sami returned and found EJ texting. She grabbed his phone and discovered that the contractor e-mailed to say Sami's townhouse was ready. She was mad that he kept it from her. He asked her to stay in the house with him. EJ's phone rang, so he headed outside. Jennifer and Sami caught up about their lives. The doorbell rang: It was Bill and Laura. Jennifer was thrilled to see her parents.
EJ and Sami headed back to the mansion. She agreed to stay chez DiMera.
Carly brought Melanie to the Brady Pub to have a heart to heart.... Nathan ran into Daniel in the hospital and was surprised to hear he and Carly were marrying right away. He quickly excused himself to do his rounds. Daniel went to check on Chloe. Steph asked Philip what was going on with him, noting that he was jumpy. He insisted he wasn't and added that it was none of Steph's business. She said it was her business if he screwed things up with Melanie, because she'd go running back to Nathan.... Daniel entered Chloe's room and asked Father Matt if Chloe was done with her confession. The priest said yes, but told Dan that he couldn't perform the marriage. Daniel was confused and asked Chloe what was going on.
Wednesday
Daniel asked Chloe why Father Matt wouldn't marry them. She said that she told the priest something and he didn't react to it like she thought he would. Dan demanded to know what was going on. She made up an excuse about her annulment from Lucas not being valid. He pressed her, but she said it was complicated and she didn't really understand all the details. He said if Father Matt couldn't marry them, then he would find someone who could. She reminded him how special the priest was to her. Daniel said he knew someone who was a justice of the peace and could marry them. She said no, insisting she wanted them to say their vows in a church and begged him to understand. He said he did, but was upset. He noted that he had to cancel a few surprises.
Bo talked to Hope on the phone and urged her to get some rest. Carly came home and overheard him say he was going to visit Alice. She wanted to go, too. Bo paused, so she apologized for being presumptuous. He assured her she wasn't. She headed back to the hospital and visited a reeling Chloe. "You bitch. You did this to me. This is all your fault," Chloe spat. Carly was sympathetic, but urged Chloe to do the right thing.... Daniel returned and asked Chloe how she was doing. Chloe said she was better and declared her undying love for him.
Madeline and Chad headed to the Brady Pub to meet DA Woods. She stopped him to warn him about the DiMeras, but he wasn't in the mood to hear it. She asked him what was wrong. He listed all the things that had happened to him over the past couple of years and got emotional talking about baby Grace.
At the DiMera manse, Stefano wanted to go over the plan for Kate to impersonate Madeline and gain access to her safety deposit box. Kate was upset because she had just had a conversation with Lucas, who was beside himself over Alice. Stefano said he knew about Alice, which angered Kate because he didn't tell her. He explained that he was trying to protect her, but that just made her angrier.
Jennifer was thrilled to see her parents, Laura and Bill. Jen took Laura up to see Alice. The doorbell rang, so Bill answered it. It was Kate. They had an awkward reunion, then Bill got reflective about their relationship. She noted that they were past second-guessing their choices. Laura walked in during their chat and greeted Kate coolly. Kate asked if they were back together, but Bill quickly clarified that they weren't. Laura told Kate that it was family only at Alice's, which prompted Bill to snap at his ex. After Kate left, Jennifer and Laura were annoyed that she had come. Bill pointed out that Alice wouldn't have judged Kate coming over. A weepy Laura realized he was right.... Kate returned home and admitted to Stefano that she was concerned about impersonating Madeline. He said he would find another way to diffuse the Madeline situation, then. He told Kate that he cared for her and would do anything for her. She was moved and agreed to the plan.
Nicole found Brady passed out on the pier and a flask beside him. He came to and nearly kissed her in his drugged haze. She went to take him home when a cop happened by. Brady acted up and punched the officer, then passed out. He was hospitalized. Bo came in and asked what happened. Nic explained that she found Brady in that condition. Bo wondered if Ari's breakup sent Brady over the edge. A guilty Nic said it was her fault because she was supposed to be Ari's alibi and it fell through. She returned to Brady's bedside. He woke up and asked what happened. "I want to tell you everything," she replied.
Victor ran into Maggie at the Brady Pub. He consoled her about Alice. Caroline spied them together and gave them the fish eye. Maggie took off and Caroline lit into her ex about his marriage to Vivian. He reminded Caroline that he wanted her back and she spurned him. "You rejected me ... Broke my heart," he noted, asking her if she regretted her decision. She insisted she didn't. He explained that he married Vivian to protect Bo. She didn't understand, but he didn't elaborate.
Thursday
Sami found Will on the pier and they talked about Alice. Sami told him he had to prepare himself to say good-bye. Will found the bill from the contractor in Sami's things and asked when she was moving home. She said she was planning to stay at the manse for a while longer. Will was annoyed.
At the Horton home, Julie and Doug remembered Alice fondly. Sami and Will arrived; Will went to see his great-grandmother. Julie asked why things were so chilly between Sami and Will. Sami explained because she's living chez DiMera. "Good grief, Sami. What in the world are you thinking?" Julie exclaimed. Sami explained that she wanted her kids to be near their father. Julie pointed out that EJ was also a pompous, lowlife criminal. She asked what Rafe thought about it. Sami revealed they had split. Julie thought Sami was turning to EJ on the rebound. Sami insisted things weren't romantic with her and EJ. "You're trying to replace Rafe with EJ. And there's not a doubt in my mind you're gonna live to regret it," Julie declared.... In the living room, Doug had a talk with Will about Sami. He was shocked to hear Will was living at the DiMeras and admitted that it upset him that Will was in such close proximity to Stefano. Will claimed that Stefano was cool and had mellowed. Doug scoffed.
Maggie looked through a family photo album. The phone rang: It was Lexie, who told her that Brady was admitted to the hospital with drugs and alcohol in his system. Maggie hurried over and ran into Victor, who was blaming Arianna for Brady's condition. Maggie urged him to be gentle and supportive with his grandson.
A confused Brady asked Nicole why he was in the hospital. She tearily told him that he fell off the wagon. She said she never should have gone to Santo Domingo or else Brady and Ari would have gotten married and then Ari wouldn't have attacked anyone. Brady insisted that Ari didn't attack anyone and that he didn't fall off the wagon: It was a setup. Lexie came in to check on Brady and noted that Nicole saved his life. Lexie asked Nicole to leave so she could examine Brady. Nic left, vowing to get Dr. Baker, whom she deduced was responsible for Brady's condition. Maggie and Victor came in. Brady insisted that he didn't have a relapse. Maggie and Vic listened patiently. After, Maggie and Victor had a warm chat. He took her hand. "You just seem to understand me better than most people," Vic told her. Mags was a bit uncomfortable and laughed it off.
Nicole confronted Dr. Baker in his motel room. He was alarmed to see her. "I know what you did and I could kill you for it!" she snarled. Baker didn't deny it, explaining he did what he had to do.
EJ visited Arianna and told her he had bad news: The judge was sick and her arraignment was pushed back. Lexie called EJ to tell him about Brady being admitted so he could inform Ari. EJ told Ari that Brady had a relapse. She called Brady and asked how it happened. He swore he didn't use.
Charles and Madeline tried to talk to Chad about going to Wake Forest. He refused. They suspected it was because of Mia. He said that wasn't it; he just felt more comfortable in Salem. He took off, but agreed to meet them later for dinner. Charles thought maybe Salem U wasn't the worst idea. Madeline didn't agree. She told her husband she planned to give Chad a gift of bonds from her safety-deposit box, but didn't want him to think it was a bribe.... Mia ran into Gabi outside the Pub. Mia tried to make amends for what happened with Chad and Will and told Gabi that Chad was the guy she really loved. Chad overheard. He revealed himself to the girls and told them that he wasn't leaving Salem, after all. He admitted he wanted to be with his friends — and Mia. He also revealed that Kate and Madeline had a past and he thinks that's why his mother wants him out of town.
Stefano handed Kate the key to Madeline's safety deposit box. She headed to the bank in a blonde wig and signed in to get the box. An employee took her into a private room and Kate looked through its contents. She overheard another employee talking to Madeline outside of the room and panicked. She quickly grabbed everything and slipped out before Madeline could see her. Madeline opened her box and was devastated to find that it was empty.... Kate returned home with all of the loot. Stefano found the incriminating tape. "Madeline is finito," he announced.
Friday
Melissa returned to town to see Alice. She arrived at the Horton house and broke down to Maggie at the thought of losing her beloved grandmother.
At the motel, Nicole lit into Baker for what he did to Brady, noting that Brady was an addict and Baker could have destroyed his life. The doc didn't know about Brady's past, but said he was only thinking of himself in the moment he plied Brady with alcohol.
Brady and Arianna spoke on the phone. She implored him to be honest with her about his slip. He insisted he didn't slip. After they hung up, Brady got dressed to leave. Nathan came in to check him out and was surprised to find the patient on the way out. Brady headed to the prison to see Ari. They fought because she didn't believe that his drinking was a setup. He told her he needed to rethink their future and left. After he was gone, Ari wanted to call him, but the guard reminded her that she used her one call for the day.
Daniel visited Melanie and told her that the wedding had been postponed. Melanie was dubious about her father's ability to have a happy future with Chloe. He insisted he and Chloe loved each other and would be okay. Daniel told her that he needed to see Maggie, so he and Mel headed to the Horton house. While Melanie made lemonade, Daniel told Maggie that her myasthenia gravis was in remission. She was elated. He left. When Mel came back into the living room, Maggie told her the good news. Melanie wanted to call people, but Maggie said the focus was on Alice right now. Maggie also told Melanie how she lifted her spirits just by being her. They hugged.
Father Matt visited Chloe after hearing a message from Daniel about the "problem" with the annulment from Lucas. "You lied to him again, Chloe," the priest chided. He refused to be a party to her sinning and urged her to tell Daniel the truth. After, he left for a church retreat in Chicago and told her she'd be in his prayers. Chloe realized Daniel wouldn't be able to talk to Father Matt for awhile. Nicole visited her pal and couldn't believe what happened to Chloe with the elevator. She then told Chloe about Brady's "relapse." Chloe was shocked Brady would drink again. Nicole believed someone did it to him. Chloe then lamented that she didn't think she could ever marry Daniel after what she did. She finally confessed to the one-night stand and how Carly was forcing her to come clean with Daniel. Nicole urged her to "end run around that little bitch." She believed Chloe should forget about Carly and tell Daniel that she changed her mind and wanted to marry him ASAP. She added that Daniel wasn't like EJ and would forgive Chloe for her indiscretion.... Daniel returned to Chloe's hospital room and she told him that she wanted to wed right away. He didn't get her change of heart and demanded the truth.
Kayla and Stephanie had a joyful reunion at the Brady Pub. Kayla updated Steph about Steve and Joe. Steph filled in her mom about what had been going down with Nathan. She admitted she pushed him too hard because she was worried about Melanie. Nathan came in and joined them. He said Melissa would be joining them. Melissa arrived at the Pub and was excited to see Kayla. They caught up and shared memories of Alice. While that went on, Nathan told Steph he had a surprise for her. When he realized he forgot it, he headed back to the Horton house, where he ran into Melanie.
Nicole headed to the K manse to check on Brady, who was happy to see her. He thanked her for believing in him — unlike Ari. A "sympathetic" Nicole took him in her arms and smiled to herself.
