Days Of Our Lives Recaps
DAYS Week of June 21, 2010
Monday
Daniel gently asked Chloe what was going on with her. She said she worried if they didn't get married that night, they never would. He didn't understand. She cried that she had a bad dream that he abandoned her. He assured her he'd be by her side but thought that maybe it wasn't a bad idea for them to wait a bit for the wedding. She flipped out and implored him to marry her right away. "Fine. Whatever you want. Whatever makes you happy," he smiled. She wept with relief and declared her love.
Melanie ran into Nathan at the Horton house. It was a little awkward, but she comforted him about Alice, then apologized. Stephanie called and thought he sounded strange. He told her to come over. Daniel called Mel and asked her to come to the hospital right away for the wedding 2.0. She was confused — and not happy. Dan asked her to get Philip, too. She said she would. When Melanie hung up, she admitted to Nathan that she wasn't on board with the nups. He agreed with her. She asked him why, but he suggested she speak to Daniel if she had concerns about Chloe. Stephanie arrived, so Mel took off. Nathan showed Stephanie his surprise: Hot air balloon tickets. She was really touched.
Melanie arrived at the hospital and asked Daniel why he was rushing the wedding. She feared Chloe was jerking him around. He insisted Chloe had been under a lot of stress and might not be thinking clearly, but that they loved each other. While Daniel was on a call with the justice of the peace, Melanie went in to visit with Chloe.
Sami was thrilled to see Allie and Lucas at the Brady Pub. Lucas immediately lit into her for living at EJ's. She didn't want to discuss it at that point so they talked about Alice. Lucas remembered her welcoming him to the Horton clan. Sami then prepped Allie on what to expect when visiting Alice.
Bill entered the kitchen at the Hortons and told them that the end was near with Alice. Maggie, Jen and Laura broke down, but Maggie also pointed out how great it was that they could all say good-bye to her. Sami, Lucas and Allie arrived. The family was excited to see them. Bill and Lucas shared a warm hug, as did Lucas and Jen.... Sami caught up with Stephanie.
Madeline was freaked out that Kate and Stefano had the contents of her safety deposit box. At the mansion, Kate had a martini while Stefano popped Madeline's tape into the VCR. "Showtime," he announced. It was a tape of her with a congressman from her hooker days. Seems Stefano and Kate were involved with bringing down the politico. In the tape, the congressman suspected they were being filmed. When he started to rough up Maddie, Stefano came in and a fight ensued. The congressman wound up dead. "Stefano, you killed him," said Maddie on the tape. The Phoenix thanked Kate for saving his life; turned out, she was the one who did the congressman in. She thanked him for covering it up. "Our secret will now be safe," he assured her. Madeline called him and asked to meet at the pier. She demanded the tape back; he said no way and added that he refused to bend to her blackmail anymore. She said fine, but demanded the rest of the contents of her box back.
Kate called Lucas, who told her he was at the Horton house. After, she went through the rest of the things in Madeline's box. She read something that shocked her...
Tuesday
Chloe left Nicole a relieved, detailed message about how things were going with Daniel. Melanie entered and demanded to know what kind of games Chloe was playing with Daniel by flip-flopping with the wedding. Chloe insisted she wasn't playing games and that Daniel was her life and she couldn't be happier. Chloe opened up a little about her past, noting that she was sent back to the orphanage when her foster parents didn't want her. Melanie didn't know and apologized. Chloe explained that she was trying to make Melanie realize that she understood the special bond Melanie had with her father. Chloe vowed to be good to Daniel, which pleased Melanie. She gave Chloe a something old, new, borrowed and blue.
In the hallway, Daniel called the justice of the peace. Maxine overheard and offered to coordinate some wedding details for him, but he said they were keeping it low key.
At the Horton house, Jennifer and Laura went through photos for a scrapbook that Jen had been working on for years. Jen lamented that she wasn't ready to say good-bye to Alice. She then got a call from Mike that he was delayed in Boston and told Laura, Bill and Marie. The group headed to the kitchen to make Alice's famous doughnuts. Will came in. Bill admitted he wished he had lived closer to Alice and spent more time with her. Jen comforted her dad. Maggie and Melissa entered. Maggie and Bill had a heart to heart in the living room. Melissa helped Jen with the scrapbook and they laughed over old photos.... Nathan talked to Bill and said that even though Alice gave Tom's medical bag to him, he felt Bill should have it.
Stefano assured Madeline that he would return the other contents of her safety deposit box to her. At home, Kate found a telltale document and wondered if Stefano knew about it. Stefano came home and said they were done with Judge Peterson Woods. He noted that Kate seemed emotional, but she covered that it was about Alice.
Chad visited with Mia at Maggie's. Chad revealed he was staying in Salem to be with his friends — and her. She was thrilled; they kissed. After, Chad ran into Madeline and announced that he wasn't going to Wake Forest. After, Madeline paid a visit to Mia.
Caroline was thrilled to see Kayla at the Pub. They sat with Stephanie and shared fond memories of Alice. The Hortons joined them later.
Lucas and Philip caught up. After a chat with Alice, Lucas apologized to Philip for being such a downer at his wedding to Melanie. The conversation turned to Chloe and Daniel. Lucas predicted their wedding would never happen because Chloe was a serial cheater. Philip realized his phone was turned off and turned it on. He smirked when telling his brother he had to go to Daniel and Chloe's hospital nups. He rushed over, but Melanie told him they were still waiting for the justice of the peace. Philip visited with Chloe, and asked what was going on. She said she was relieved that she and Daniel were going to actually wed. Kevin, the justice of the peace, arrived. Daniel brought him into Chloe's room. Daniel asked if Chloe was sure she wanted to go through with it. She said yes, and asked if he was having second thoughts. Not at all, he replied, explaining that he just wanted to make sure this was the wedding she wanted. Chloe asked if they could talk alone. Melanie, Philip and Kevin exited. Once alone, Chloe and Daniel reaffirmed their love for each other. Dan called Phil and Mel back in. The ceremony began. Outside, Carly arrived to check on Chloe. Maxine revealed that she was getting married. The phone rang; it was an emergency for Kevin. Maxine interrupted the ceremony, to Daniel and Chloe's chagrin. Carly entered the room. "It's like dj vu all over again," Philip sighed. Carly announced that she would say what she meant to before.
Lucas talked to Will. He asked his son if he wanted to spend some time out of Salem with him. Will said he had a lot of stuff going on in town. Lucas noted that Alice wasn't happy to have a great-grandchild living in the DiMera mansion.... Will headed home and told Stefano about Alice's feelings. Stefano explained that Alice knew the old him and that he wasn't as evil as everyone thought.
Wednesday
Nicole went to the DiMera mansion and asked Brady for a favor. She explained that her producer was angry with her because she missed a broadcast and asked if she could do a puff piece on Titan. He suggested doing a story on the muggings instead. When she wasn't on board, he realized she didn't want to try and prove Ari's innocence. She admitted she didn't know what to believe. He refused to give up on Ari. Nicole didn't know why, considering Ari didn't believe in him. He revealed that they had split. He then thought it would be a good idea for Nicole to do a tribute story on Alice. "Ah, yes, the wonderful Hortons. The dream life you and I never had," she replied. "Some day," he said hopefully.
At the Horton home, Jennifer worried when she couldn't get her brother Mike on the phone. Lexie walked into a hospital room and discovered Mike was her patient. He asked what he was doing there. She told him he was in a car accident on the way from the airport and they were waiting for some test results. He urged her to release him so he could go see Alice. Lexie called Jennifer.
EJ checked in with a panicky Arianna in jail and told her her arraignment had been rescheduled for the next day. He vowed to prove that Nicole was behind Ari's incarceration and was confident she would slip up.... Brady visited Arianna. She apologized for not believing in him. He told her he would find out who was responsible for putting her in the clink.... Nicole began taping her segment on Alice, but EJ interrupted her. They enjoyed some verbal sparring. He promised her he would prove Ari's innocence and bring down Nicole in the process.
Will opened the door at the DiMera mansion to his aunt Carrie. Sami was surprised to see her sis. Sami asked what she was doing there. She said she returned to town because she heard about Alice and explained that Austin couldn't make it. Sami meant what was she doing at the DiMera manse. Carrie said she wanted to tell Sami that she was sorry that her mother, Anna, kidnapped Sydney and asked for forgiveness. Sami insisted it wasn't Carrie's fault. The sibs had a heart to heart about their relationship. They also talked about Alice and agreed to have a fresh start with each other.
Carrie visited Mike at the hospital. They caught up on each other's lives. Jennifer rushed in, so Carrie left them alone. After they chatted, Jen left to tell Bill and Laura that he was okay. She hurried home and found Maggie crying. Alice died, Maggie sadly reported.
After Carly barged into Chloe's hospital room, a rattled Chloe implored her to keep quiet. Daniel and Melanie wondered what was going on. Chloe said Carly was trying to ruin the wedding and got annoyed when Daniel defended the doc. "Carly doesn't think I'm good enough for you," cried Chloe. Daniel couldn't believe that was true. Melanie and Philip left the room and Carly told Chloe that she was pregnant. She was in shock, noting she couldn't get pregnant. Daniel was thrilled at the prospect of having a baby with Chloe. He rushed out to tell Kevin about the turn of events, leaving Chloe and Carly alone. Chloe accused Carly of lying about the test results and called the doc "pure evil." Daniel returned, and Carly performed a sonogram. Daniel happily told his wife that she was expecting.
Melanie and Philip wondered what was going on. Philip noted that is seemed like every time Chloe was pursuing happiness, his mom or Mel's mom tried to ruin it. Melanie got defensive on Carly's behalf. Philip suggested they leave it alone.
At Maggie's, Mia asked Madeline what she was really doing there and figured it had to do with Chad choosing not to go to Wake Forest. Madeline handed her an acceptance letter to the High School of The Performing Arts in New York. "As in Fame?" Mia asked. "More or less," Maddie replied, explaining that she was friends with someone on the board and got her in. "It's the chance of a lifetime," the judge noted. Mia said she knew that, but couldn't take it. She added that since Madeline got her a plane ticket for that night, she must really want to get rid of her. Maddie urged her to follow her dreams for her sake, for Grace's and for Chad's. Mia wondered how she would explain things to Maggie. "Tell her you went to go live your dream. How can she stand in the way of that?" Madeline said. Mia agreed to go. Maddie promised her she wouldn't regret it.... Mia went to say good-bye to Will and Sami and thanked them for being so good to her. They wished her luck in New York.
Thursday
Alice's death drew the Horton and Brady families together. Bo was happy to find Kayla at his door, with a surprise -- Kim! Bo was taken aback to learn Shane was out of touch with his ex. "It's like he dropped off the face of the earth," complained Kim. "He's probably out there saving the world." Later, Kayla made her disapproval of Carly clear, insisting Bo and Hope belong together.
Meanwhile, Shane took a seat next to Rafe on the plane home. The ISA told him something happened to his family, Shane explained. Now he was going home to see them -- and he hopes it's not too late. He's not sure what he'll find in Salem either, sighed Rafe. Shane told Rafe about Alice's death.
Roman greeted Carrie with a warm hug at the Pub. As Carrie worried about Anna, Sami appeared, reminding Carrie that she didn't have to apologize for her mother's behavior, but she was going to make Anna pay for what she did. (Sami interrupted the tirade to hand Allie a bag of Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters to take to Carolyn.) After Roman left, the sisters apologized for not being there for each other. Sami was glad to hear Carrie and Austin were happy, then told Carrie about Rafe, lamenting that she'd driven him away by lying about Sydney. "I have no one to blame but myself," she admitted. Asked about EJ, Sami said he had really been there for her, then tried to change the subject. A smiling Carrie suggested Sami loved both men.
Doug comforted a grief-stricken Hope. They reminded each other that Alice had said that life never really ends, and she will live on through her
family. "I wish I had told her how sorry I am that I let her down," sobbed
Hope on her father's shoulder. Pulling herself together, Hope told Doug that she was trying to accept that it was over with Bo. Doug wasn't so sure about that. After he left, Hope recalled Alice giving her heirloom earrings for her wedding to Bo.
Maggie vented to Bill about the family's hovering. Losing Mickey was like
part of losing herself, admitted Maggie, but she's getting through it. "You
should be taking care of yourselves and your children," admonished Maggie -- she's fine. If she's fine, why didn't she tell anyone that her myasthenia gravis had returned? Bill asked gently, adding that people at the hospital were worried about her. She's fine, repeated an angry Maggie. "Mom didn't think so," said Bill; in fact Alice and Mickey had asked him to look after Maggie. Touched, Maggie nevertheless insisted she was okay, and in remission. Bill gave her a hug, saying he'd be there for her.
At the DiMera mansion, Kate and Lucas mourned the loss of Alice. "She used her time exactly the way she wanted," noted Lucas. Kate admitted she envied Alice for being happy with what she had, and not yearning for more money or power. Will entered the room, and Lucas informed his son he was thinking of staying in Hong Kong for good. Will was upset that his father would make a decision like that without consulting anyone. Lucas invited Will to live with him, but Will didn't want to leave his family and friends. "I think your living arrangements are a bit strange," observed Lucas. EJ's been really decent to Sami, said Will.
At the Horton home, Jennifer and Julie were relieved to learn Alice had
planned her own funeral, so her service would be exactly as she had wanted. "I'm sure heaven is a brighter, happier place today," smiled Julie.
"Certainly cleaner!" Abe arrived to offer his condolences, and reminisced
about arresting feisty Alice. "She was one tough lady," he smiled. Later,
Julie, Doug, Jennifer and Hope held hands as Alice's voice played in the
background.
Friday
On the plane, Shane mourned letting Kimberly slip away from him while he was off saving the world. Rafe commiserated, swearing he'd fix things with Sami. At the Pub, Carrie pinned Sami down about her feelings for Rafe and EJ. Sami huffed, implying Carrie was off base. Carrie said she had to choose! Fortunately, further discussion was curtailed by Caroline, Allie and everyone coming downstairs to go to the service. Back on the plane, Shane advised Rafe to get Sami away from EJ and the DiMeras ASAP. Then, they landed and said their goodbyes and "good luck"s. In Salem, Sami rushed to Chez DiMera -- Kate had called her because Johnny was sick. Kate begrudgingly admitted Sami had done something right, because her kids were all wonderful. After putting Johnny down with some medicine, Sami told Kate she'd seen Lucas but not talked to him. Later, Rafe arrived on her doorstep!
Nathan thanked Stephanie for being there for him during a difficult time, while Maggie wept to Melissa, wondering what they'd do without Alice. At the hospital, Mike was raring to see Grandma despite his burst spleen and Bill and Jennifer were forced to tell him that Alice had passed. Mike was devastated at being so close yet so far...even more so when Lexie said she couldn't release him for the funeral. His frustration made Jen break down, and he apologized, holding her close. Back at the house, Maggie told Melissa they had to carry on Alice's legacy of "love and courage and dignity." Later, Melissa hoped to get to know Stephanie a little better.
Bo told Kayla that Hope had made her choice and Kayla berated him for giving up on Hope, claiming Carly is "nothing but a distraction." On cue, Hope showed up at the door. She greeted Kayla, Kim and Roman with hugs...and then the trio awkwardly made themselves scarce. Alone, Hope asked Bo to say a few words at the funeral and shared her grief. Outdoors, Justin ran into Adrienne, who was surprised he hasn't seen Hope lately. Kayla walked up, glad to see the duo getting along. After Justin walked away, Adrienne hinted to Kayla what Stephanie has been up to with Nathan. At Casa Brady, Hope asked Bo to sit with her and Ciara. After he agreed, she left to accompany Maggie, Melissa, Lucas, Marie and Laura to the church. Lucas took a moment to grab Tom's photo to take with him. At the cemetery, everyone gathered to say their goodbyes and also their "hello"s to familiar faces. When Justin hugged Hope, Caroline turned to Bo and said, "She should be in your arms!" Then, everyone spoke about Alice's impact on their lives: Caroline, Julie, Doug, Maggie, Lucas, Melissa, and Nathan (who admitted he hadn't known her as well) Bo talked about how Alice had encouraged him to follow his heart, and then Jennifer picked up the thread, noting Alice never said goodbye, just, "Until we meet again." Everyone wept over the coffin and her photo. Alone at the hospital, Mike remembered Alice advising him on his future. Back at the grave site, Shane quietly joined the proceedings and Hope tearily said her piece, praising Alice's unconditional love. Then, a slew of wonderful flashbacks played, ending with one of Alice telling Tom's photo, "Goodbye my darling...till we meet again." Lucas tucked Tom's photo into the frame of Alice's picture, and everyone sobbed. They all reverently placed yellow roses on her coffin. Then, as everyone dispersed, Shane revealed himself to Kimberly...who was furious and stormed off. Shane followed her, leaving Bo and Hope alone at the grave...
