Days Of Our Lives Recaps

DAYS Week of June 30, 2008

Monday

Stephanie visited Chelsea at the Brady house to talk about Max but asked
about Daniel first. Chelsea raved about her date. Steph giggled over Chelsea
possibly becoming Mrs. Daniel Jonas one day. "Okay, you're weird," Chelsea
noted, then asked about Max. Steph revealed the connection between Max and
Trent. Chelsea didn't realize that Max even knew who his father was. She
then suggested that Steph give Max some space. Steph didn't think that was a
good idea and actually wanted Bo and Hope's help with getting through to
Max.

Trent showed up at the Brady Pub as Max was closing up. He said he wanted to
make amends. Max reamed Trent for abandoning him. They argued. Trent asked
Max if he would keep their relationship a secret. A stunned Max told him it
was too late and that people already knew. They exchanged some more harsh
words. Max threatened to spill Trent's dirty secrets, and accused Trent of
knocking around his mother, but Trent insisted he never laid a finger on
her. Trent warned Max that he didn't want to mess with him. Max demanded to
know about the girl in the photo and asked if it was his sister. Trent
refused to tell him.

At the station, Bo told Roman about Chelsea's date with Daniel Jonas and
asked for advice. Roman advised him to stay out of it. "Riiight," Bo
replied. Roman informed Bo that Paul Hollingsworth was missing and gave him
Chloe's account of the night of the fire. Bo assumed John was involved
somehow. They got a search warrant to check out Paul's apartment and his
luggage arrived from the airport. Morgan came in to check in on the
investigation, spied her father's suitcase and demanded to know what was
going on. She insisted John was responsible for Paul's disappearance.

John told Ava he had to go to the lab to find equipment that would play the
disk. EJ came through, on the way to get a bottle for Johnny. John asked his
nephew how long he planned to keep up the charade with Sami that they were
still married. Sami came in just as John announced that he knew EJ had been
lying to Sami for weeks about the state of their union. "What? Is that true,
EJ?" she asked. EJ tried to avoid answering, but Sami pushed. John and Ava
made an exit. EJ explained that he was trying to keep his family together.
"We were never really a family," she exclaimed. They fought. He then
confessed that the whole situation with Mr. Burke and immigration was phony,
too. The only thing that was real was that his visa expired, but he was
eligible for dual citizenship. She told him she would never forgive him. He
pointed out that it was quite the double standard in light of all the people
who had forgiven her over the years. "I think I've forgiven you plenty," she
snarked, then headed to bed. EJ apologized, but she said she didn't believe
him. She handed her ring back, though he protested. She admitted she had
feelings for him. He nearly kissed her; she ran off.

In the lab, Ava joked that it was very Star Wars-esque. John warned her not
to touch anything. He took the disk out and wanted to put it in. She urged
him not to. He sat in the chair he had been in months ago and suddenly had a
flash of memory about Stefano. Ava was still worried about what would happen
if John played the disk. She urged him to destroy it. He began to get teary.
She asked if he wanted to watch the disk because of Marlena. He admitted
that might be part of it. Ava said he should leave the past in the past. He
decided not to watch the disk that night and locked it up in a cabinet. He
kissed Ava.

Morgan knocked on Chelsea's door, apologizing for the late hour. Steph took
her leave. Morgan confided that she had just come from the police station
and didn't want to be alone. Chelsea invited her to stay over. Morgan asked
if Hope and Bo would be cool with her staying there. Chelsea said yes, as
long as Morgan didn't touch Hope's juice in the morning.

Tuesday

At the Pub, Chelsea helped Caroline get food ready for Bo and Hope's barbecue. Morgan was there, with a heavy heart over her father's disappearance. Caroline left to visit Shawn at the cemetery. Chelsea urged Morgan to come to the barbecue. Caroline returned to help with the pies. Roman came in later and said he had been at the cemetery, too. They recalled happy July 4th times with Shawn.

Bo came home to help Hope set up for the party. He filled in Hope about Paul's luggage and the letter addressed to Morgan. Doug and Julie — clad in July 4th wear — surprised the Bradys. Bo showed off their new "green" kitchen. Bo went to prepare the grill. Doug followed. Bo talked to his father-in-law about his discomfort over Chelsea and Daniel dating. Doug reminded Bo that he wasn't so thrilled when Bo and Hope started dating. "I thought you were the worst person in the world for my daughter to be dating.... Motorcycle, beard, no real job, that ridiculous hair," he quipped. Bo admitted he hadn't gotten his act together yet at that time. Doug warned Bo that the more he pushed with Hope, the more Hope was determined to be with Bo. "All your interfering will do will make her angry, mad at you. And I speak from experience," Doug noted. "Think long and hard before you act." In the kitchen, Hope talked to Julie about Chelsea and Daniel. She also told Julie that she was sure Bo was discussing it with
Doug. After, Bo told Hope about his conversation with Doug. She pointed out
that if she had let Doug interfere in her love life, she and Bo wouldn't be flipping Brady burgers together. Roman arrived at the barbecue and made a bet with Bo over whose burgers would be more in demand, Bo or Roman's. Roman added that he had a new secret ingredient.

At the DiMera mansion, EJ asked Lucas if he had seen Sami. Lucas reported that Sami was going to the Fourth of July barbecue at Bo and Hope's house. EJ debated going, but Lucas pointed out that he would not be welcome. Nicole arrived. EJ asked what she was doing there. She said she heard John was having a private party and she wanted to attend. EJ went to change. Lucas came in and he and Nicole talked about their short-lived union. "We had a few laughs together," she said. "Yeah, when we were drunk," he retorted. They then discussed Sami. Lucas said he loved her. Nicole wished him well, but warned Lucas that Sami would stomp on his heart. "No way. Not this time," he insisted and walked out. EJ returned. Rolf went to fetch caviar for EJ and Nicole. In the meantime, EJ told Nicole that Sami knew the truth about their marriage, but that in the heat of her anger, she admitted that she still has feelings for him. Lucas overheard.

At the Pub, Philip told Chloe he wishes she had kept her mouth shut about seeing Paul on the docks. She noted that she was just trying to help him. He said she only made things worse. The two decided to spend July 4th together. When Chloe got up to excuse herself, Philip spied a weepy Morgan and comforted her. He told her he had people looking for Paul and urged her to be positive and call him if she needed him. They hugged; Chloe spied them and was peeved. She took off in a huff.

Wednesday

Ava and Nicole drank champagne in the DiMera living room. EJ said he would like a traditional American barbecue and sent Rolf to fire up the grill to roast some "weenies." They heard a crackle of electricity. EJ noted that the city's power grid is overloaded. He then got a call and excused himself. Nicole lamented to Ava that EJ was still into Sami. EJ took a work call, then placed one to Samantha, which Lucas overheard. EJ returned and asked Nicole if what he told her about Sami bothered her. She played it off. "I know. Your heart belongs to Sami. Good luck with that," she said, then added she doubted Sami would leave Lucas. He said he'd wager her that Sami would. Nicole took the bet. Right after, Sami called EJ's cell and told him that no matter what she felt about him, they had no future together because she would always love Lucas and planned to spend the rest of her life with him. "I'm never going to love you the way that you want me to," she told him. He was dejected; Nicole guessed correctly that he had been talking to Sami. "Easy money," she smirked.

John's doorbell rang. He answered —it was Marlena. She asked if he had come to his senses. She also apologized for being so angry the last time they spoke. They went around and around about the disk again and he again insisted he wouldn't access it. "The man you knew and loved is dead and gone. The sooner you accept that, the better," he said. She pointed out that he couldn't possibly know that without accessing the disk. Ava eavesdropped, then slipped away. He said he wouldn't change his mind. After, he went to look for Ava, but she wasn't around. Rolf told John that security in the lab had been breached. John headed to the lab and found Ava there. They got locked in when the power went out. He asked what she was doing. She said she was concerned about the disk. "So, you came to destroy my disk?" he asked. She responded that she didn't know what she was going to do, but she didn't want to lose him. She suggested he destroy the disk. Marlena arrived on the other side of the door and headed John and Ava's hushed conversation through the heavy doors. She urged John not to destroy the disk. He quoted Aristotle, then began to trash the lab. A weepy Marlena heard the noise and begged him to stop.

Chloe sat alone at the Brady Pub, talking to her mother about how she had no plans for the Fourth. Lucas called her next and they both admitted they needed someone to talk to. He said he would sneak out to see her at the Salem Inn. He removed his ankle monitor and left. A disguised Lucas arrived at the Inn and called Chloe to make sure the coast was clear.

At Bo and Hope's house, Doug and Julie filled their plates with food. Victor arrived, which thrilled Caroline. "I figured you could use a friend today," he told her. Bo and Hope came out and were happy to see the duo. Maggie and Mickey hit the barbecue next. They lamented the fact that Lucas couldn't be with them.

Chelsea pulled Daniel into the kitchen. He worried what Bo would say about them and asked for a kiss "for luck". They ran into Victor on their way out to the backyard. Chelsea told her grandfather that Daniel was her date for the evening. A surprised Mr. K asked to speak with Daniel privately. Vic told Daniel he would have appreciated knowing that they were dating. Daniel said he didn't realize he needed permission. He also said he wouldn't hurt Chelsea. "I just don't think you're good relationship material for my granddaughter," Vic huffed. Daniel made a pointed remark about Victor not being one to give relationship advice. "I take great offense to that," Victor replied. A fidgety Chelsea watched them from afar. Bo noticed and remarked to Chelsea that clearly he wasn't the only one who had a problem with her and Daniel dating. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Dad. It's just what I needed," she snarked and went in the house. Bo followed. He apologized for upsetting her. She said she knew he was just looking out for her. Bo said he knew he had to step back. "Not all the way back. I mean, if he does hurt me, you're gonna have to kick his butt. You know that, right?" she asked. He said he would gladly do that and they hugged. After, Daniel told Chelsea that he wasn't concerned with everyone's naysaying and kissed her. The fireworks exploded to lots of ooh and ahhs and kisses. Hope covered Bo's eyes so he wouldn't see Daniel and Chelsea making out.

After his upsetting conversation with Sami, EJ left the manse, with Nicole in tow. She suggested they hang out in her room at the Salem Inn and headed there with a bottle of bubbly. Once they got in the elevator, the power went out. They decided to drink the champagne. But first he sprayed her with it. Nicole fortuitously had a deck of cards in her purse and suggested they play strip poker or solitaire. EJ said they should just play straight poker. He told her she was a welcome breath of fresh air and that he was proud to call her his friend. They kissed.

In the Salem Inn lobby, Lucas spied the cop who arrested him for breaking his house arrest. Chloe came down and asked why he took so long to come upstairs. They got into the other elevator. A claustrophobic Chloe panicked when the lights went out. Lucas tried to calm her down. He told her about the conversation he overheard between Nicole and EJ. After, they started kissing.
