DAYS Week of March 22, 2010
Monday
Daniel came into the station with Carly, who explained to Bo and Carly that she and Vivian had a confrontation on the docks earlier. Bo was peeved and said Viv should be in a mental institution. Daniel pointed out that they had to protect Dr. Manning. Bo said he would. Carly noted that Melanie's safety was more important.
Gus met Vivian at Java. She revealed she had a backup for their plan and assured him he was needed. They began searching poisons on the Internet, then Bo called and summoned her to the station. Vivian arrived and spied the assembled parties. Bo asked to speak to her alone and gave her a warning — and a threat. She wasn't rattled and sashayed out. Bo vowed to Carly that Viv was going down. He then wanted to talk about their future, then they started kissing. She was paged so called into the hospital. Bo made a call, saying the craziness with Vivian would end... Viv returned to Java and told Gus about her meeting with Bo. She insisted she wouldn't be deterred from her goal. "I will do Lawrence proud," she declared.
Lois ordered Nicole — who was doing her nails — back to her cell, but Nicole refused. Lois wondered why Nic believed she was going to get out of jail and asked if Brady was going to help. Nicole lamented that she let the one guy who loved her get away.
Anna started kissing Governor Ford, but he pulled away. He was sorry he couldn't help her out with springing Nicole from the clink. Anna turned on the waterworks, to no avail. Later, she went to the DiMera manse. She had a vision of EJ having her killed, so she opted not to go in. Panicked, Anna called Nicole on Lois's cell phone and told her she couldn't get the pardon and it was over. Nicole gave her 12 more hours to make it happen. She then got annoyed and threw the nail polish bottle across the room. She thought about who she could call to talk, then got an idea.
At the Brady Pub, Sami asked Rafe for the recommendation for the FBI job, but he said he couldn't give her one. She went to leave in a huff, but he stopped her at the door and calmed her down. It got awkward, so Brady and Arianna decided to go. A horrified Sami realized they were being rude, so the four resumed the, uh, celebration. Sami and Rafe resumed their argument over the job. Brady and Arianna excused themselves and went to Java. Back at the table, He told her she would never pass the required FBI background check because she had a criminal past. An annoyed Sami thought that she and Rafe should take a break. He said okay, but the fact that he replied so quickly upset her. He took off.
EJ was surprised to hear Theo say he knew EJ had Sydney all along. Lexie came in and overheard and asked Theo why he said it. Theo explained that Johnny told him the secret. EJ said Theo probably misunderstood his cousin. Lexie sent Theo back to play with Johnny. EJ apologized for implying that Theo didn't understand what happened. Lexie pointed out that Theo might be autistic, but was highly intelligent and may be the key to finding out what happened to Sydney. EJ "wondered" if Stefano had something to do with Sydney's disappearance.... Later, Sami returned home and she and EJ bonded while spending time with Syd.
Will visited Mia at Java. She was excited to see him. He showed her the St. Christopher necklace she had lost and noted that it got around — just like her. She tried to explain, but he knew she was lying. He dumped her, then left. Will went to the gym, where he ran into Rafe working out his aggressions on the punching bag. Will asked what Sami did, then lamented that love didn't last. Rafe asked what was going on. Will revealed he broke up with Mia.... When Rafe finished his workout, his cell phone rang: It was Nicole. She said she needed to see him right away.
At Java, Ari spied Gabi studying. She could tell her sister was upset. "Guys, they suck," Gabi told her. Ari showed her sis her engagement ring and asked her to be her maid of honor. Gabi said no and urged her sister to elope. Across the caf, Brady told Daniel the good news. He admitted he was worried to tell Victor. Brady and Ari chatted after and he thought eloping was a good idea. "You are so on, baby," she enthused.... Mia approached Gabi and needled her about the Chad breakup. Gabi told her to drop dead. "You're going to be even more upset when I'm through with you," Mia said to herself after Gabi left.
Governor Ford ran into the Carvers at the Brady Pub. He commended Abe on his beautiful family, then headed back to his hotel. After Ford left, Lexie asked Abe why he "couldn't stand him." Abe found him a little slick, he explained.... Anna arrived at the Salem Inn and headed to Jim's room. When room service came, she paid off the hotel employee to leave the tray. Anna dropped a pill in the wine, knocked on Jim's door, then hid. He came out and got his order, then went back into his room. "Nighty, night Jimmy. Sleep tight," Anna purred.
Tuesday
Melanie woke up at Maggie's to find Philip working at the table and an attractive nurse in the kitchen. Philip explained that she was there to take care of Maggie and Melanie when he couldn't. Melanie worried that Maggie would feel like an invalid having a nurse around, so she dismissed her, against Philip's wishes. Maggie came in; Philip left for work. Once alone, Maggie asked Melanie how she felt about Nathan. Melanie didn't want to discuss Nate with his grandmother but Maggie pushed, asking Melanie if she still had feelings for him. Mrs. K admitted that at times, she thought about Nathan and that when Nathan visited her in the hospital, she could tell he still had feelings for her and it brought back her feelings for him. Mags urged her to straighten out her feelings if she wanted her marriage to work. "It's either Philip or Nathan; it can't be both," Maggie stressed.
At the hospital, Stephanie and Nathan had a strained discussion about the letter. Steph tried to explain why she didn't give it to him, but Nathan didn't buy it. Steph admitted she didn't give him the letter because she didn't want to get hurt. She started to cry and he softened toward her. Nevertheless, he told her they needed to take a break. He headed home and ran into Melanie, who was just about to call him. They chatted and Mel revealed that she and Philip had moved in. Nathan asked her what was in the letter and admitted that if he knew there was a letter, he definitely would have wanted to read it. She tried to dance around what she wrote in it.
Stephanie bumped into Philip on the docks. She asked how Mel was doing. "Terrific," Phil replied. She then revealed that Nathan dumped her — for Phil's wife. Phil was confused. Stephanie told Philip how Melanie wrote a letter to Nathan on their wedding day but Steph didn't deliver it. "Deliberately?" Phil asked. Steph said yes and then Nathan dumped her when he found out. She warned Philip to keep an eye out because she felt Nathan still had designs on Mel. Philip insisted he wasn't concerned.
Justin brought Hope coffee at work. He told her that the judge had dismissed all charges against Carly. He was surprised when she was happy about it. She explained that she didn't want to be angry any more. He asked if that meant she was ready to move on. She told Justin he was her best friend, but that nothing would ever happen between them. He was disappointed and told her she had made that abundantly clear. She hugged him and took off to meet Maggie at the Pub.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Henderson told Justin that he had a visitor. Justin went in the living room to find Adrienne, his ex wife. She revealed that Hope had called to say Justin was in trouble. He assured her he wasn't. Adrienne was confused. Justin explained that Hope wanted the duo to reunite. Adrienne asked if that's what he wanted, too. Before he could answer, Hope entered and was surprised that Adrienne got there so quickly. A pissed Adrienne warned Hope to never play games with her again and to stay out of her life. She stormed out, followed by Justin.
A woozy Governor Ford woke up to find Anna in his room, snapping photos. He was surprised to find himself handcuffed to the bed. She said they had the most fun two people could have and showed him some shocking photos. "You got really creative after midnight," she smiled, then referenced his wife. He flipped out. She again asked him to get Nicole out of jail. "You're blackmailing me!" he exclaimed. He refused to give Nicole a pardon and warned Anna to give it up. Anna revealed she had photos from their long ago fling and was planning to send them all to the media in an hour if he didn't comply.
In prison, Rafe arrived to talk to Nicole. "This better be good," he told her. She said there was something he needed to know about Sydney. She began to say that she had information about the woman who wore the boots. Rafe didn't believe her and went to leave, but she stopped him. She said it was about time the woman who stole Sydney got what she deserved. Just as Nicole was about to reveal who took the baby, she got a call — from the warden. He patched through the governor, who told her she was pardoned, effective immediately. She was thrilled and thanked him. "Don't thank me. Thank your friend," he spat, then warned her not to give him cause to regret his decision. She hung up and told Rafe that the governor pardoned her. She and Lois did a victory dance. Rafe demanded to know what was up and asked who the kidnapper was. "It was Kate!" Nicole declared. "Wrong," Rafe replied, explaining that she had an alibi and didn't own the telltale boots. Nic acted surprised. He left. Nicole thanked Lois for everything she did for her in the clink. She borrowed Lois's phone and called Brady's office, where she learned Brady was in Santo Domingo. Nicole got the hotel name and headed out.
Anna handed the memory card from the camera over to Jim. She also deleted the texts off of her cell phone. She thanked him for pardoning Nicole. He pointed out that she had changed. He then asked if they could use the toys she used in the photos. "I'd like to remember this time," he told her. "Oh, what the heck. It's been a long time," she smiled, then kissed him and they got busy. Later, Anna boarded a plane and called Nicole. She warned Nic not to turn her in. "Relax, Anna.... Since I'm free, so are you," Nic assured her.... Rafe paid Governor Ford a visit and asked why he pardoned Nicole.
Wednesday
Bo visited Victor at the mansion and ordered him to stop Vivian's revenge fantasy against Carly. Vic mused that it wouldn't happen until one of them was dead. Bo warned his father that he would eliminate Vivian. Vic scoffed at the notion that Bo would kill or have her killed, but Bo insisted he would do anything to protect Carly. Vic pointed out that everyone in Bo's life would be hurt if he took action against Viv. "Then do something about it," Bo spat.
Vivian and Carly ran into each other at Java. Viv warned her not to be so confident because she wasn't in the clear. Viv's cell phone rang — it was Victor, who summoned her to the mase. Steph chatted with Carly after and asked how Melanie was doing. Carly revealed that Melanie hated her guts. "Join the club," Steph remarked. Carly headed out and met up with Bo on the docks. He said it was done with Vivian. Carly revealed Viv threatened her at Java and she didn't think it was possible for her to be stopped. Bo assured Carly she would be. He vowed he wouldn't let anyone hurt her ever again.
Vivian arrived chez Kiriakis, where Victor ordered her to drop her vendetta against Carly. He also suggested they get married. She was stunned and said she would have to think about it. She left and went to the pier, where she came across Bo and Carly making out.
Nathan asked Melanie what was in the letter she wrote him on her wedding day. She claimed that it was to say she was sorry for the problems she caused him and to say good-bye. He didn't believe her. She asked if they could be friends, but he said no and stormed out. At the hospital later, he told Steph that he had spoken to Melanie and that she just wanted to say good-bye to him in the letter. He apologized for overreacting and suggested they start over. "So that makes me second choice?" she asked. He insisted she wasn't.
EJ caught Sami gazing at a photo of her and Rafe. He assured her that while Rafe was out of her life, she wasn't alone. He gave her a pep talk. He added that she was thankful he allowed him to stay with her and be with their kids.
Nicole boarded a plane and fantasized about having a romantic reunion with Brady in Santo Domino. She worried someone would tell Brady that she had been freed and called him from the plane, then chickened out before saying hello.
At the resort, Brady and Arianna frolicked in the lobby. They were excited about their upcoming nups and he told her about the plans for the ceremony. They worried how everybody would react to their elopement. Ari called Melanie, who was upset from her conversation with Nathan. Ari and Brady shared their good news. Mel was happy for them. Brady later surprised Ari with a new pearl necklace to wear with her dress. She was thrilled and left to change. Nicole entered the resort and asked for Brady. The justice of the peace mistook her for the bride.
Melanie had visions of seeing Nathan everywhere.
Anna was happily settled in on her flight out of Salem but there was a problem with the plane and the pilot said they would have to return. She was freaked out, but then the pilot said everything was fine. When she landed, she was relieved to be in the clear.
Rafe asked Governor Ford why he pardoned Nicole. "I need an honest answer," Rafe explained. Jim replied that he did it because he had no choice: "the people" — his constituents — wanted it. Rafe didn't buy it. Ford told him to beat it. Rafe headed to Sami's place and told her and EJ that Nicole was pardoned and free as a bird. They were stunned. He added that Nic's whereabouts were unknown. EJ headed to the Salem Inn to have a chat with Gov. Ford. Sami asked Rafe to stay with her, but he couldn't and left. At the hotel, EJ confronted the governor. Ford admitted he thought EJ knew about the pardon, since Anna was the one who asked for it.
Rafe visited Victor to follow up about Ford. Agent H revealed that the governor pardoned Nicole. Victor was shocked and admitted he looked forward to seeing her rot in prison. Rafe asked who Ford spoke to at the fundraiser the night before. "Anna DiMera," Vic replied.
Thursday
On the pier, Bo vowed to be there for Carly. She was touched. They made out. Vivian came upon them. "Do you drug them, Carly? Hypnotize them? How else can one explain the endless supply of seemingly intelligent men who fall for a murderess like you?" she queried. Bo warned Vivian not to threaten Carly — or else. Vivian was upset that Carly was getting a happy ending. "It's not fair! I want justice for Lawrence," she told them. Then, she changed course and said she was going to move on. She walked away, but Carly believed she was lying. Bo didn't care and kissed Carly, then took her home to have sex. Her mind was still on Viv, but he assured her everything would be fine.
Justin confronted Hope at the station about bringing Adrienne to Salem. He suggested that she wanted him and Adrienne to work out to give her hope that she and Bo could, too. Justin added that she needed to move on. "I already have," she replied and showed him that he had removed her wedding rings. She apologized for interfering, but noted that he was doing the same. He told her he was in love with her, but added that it was his problem. Uh oh: Adrienne overheard. Justin got a call and apologized to Adrienne for hearing it that way. Adrienne wanted to talk to Hope alone. "Bo dumped you and you move on with my husband?" she asked. Hope insisted she had no feelings for Justin. They discussed the situation. Hope thought there was still a chance for Adrienne and Justin.
Abe visited Sami, who was still smarting from Nicole's pardon. Abe assured her that Nicole wouldn't get anywhere near Sydney. He was sure Rafe was on it. She admitted they were having relationship troubles. He assured her it could just be a rough patch.
Rafe was surprised when Victor revealed that Governor Ford and Anna seemed cozy the night before. He wondered why Anna would want Nicole to go free. Vic thought it was to make EJ crazy, but Rafe didn't buy that.
EJ brought Gov. Ford to the DiMera manse to follow up on the chat about pardoning Nicole. He demanded to know every word Anna said about the pardon. Gov Ford repeated the conversation, then left. EJ called Anna, who had just landed in parts unknown. He assumed Nicole had fingered her for kidnapping Sydney and forced her to get the pardon. "Well what did you think? I was working on my Amnesty International merit badge?" Anna scoffed. He asked if Nic knew anything about his involvement. She laughed that he was so self-involved and assured him that she kept him out of it. He headed to Sami's and revealed that Anna blackmailed the governor for the pardon. Sami was baffled. Rafe entered and overheard. He explained that Nicole blackmailed Anna to blackmail the governor because Nicole clearly recalled that Anna was at fault in the kidnapping. EJ acted appropriately upset. "I'm a complete idiot!" he exclaimed. Rafe noted that the more answers they got, the more questions were raised. Sami just couldn't believe it was Anna. EJ suspected Anna was being irrational and blamed EJ and the DiMeras for Tony's death. Sami just couldn't understand how Anna found Nicole in Cleveland. He said he was sorry, but she told him it wasn't his fault. EJ vowed to make Anna pay. Rafe discovered that Nicole was in Santo Domingo.
In Santo Domingo, Arianna got ready in her room. Ari flipped when the pearl necklace Brady bought for her broke. The woman who helped her get ready warned her that it meant something bad was happening. Ari was freaked out. In the lobby, Nicole searched for Brady and ran into the justice of the peace, who mistook her for the bride. Nicole was rattled, but thankful she got there just in time. Brady was shocked to see her. He thought she had escaped, but she revealed she was pardoned. He didn't believe her at first. She said it was true and told him she wanted him. He told her that he was marrying Arianna. Nic thought it was a little soon, but he said he was in love with Ari. A teary Nick told him to be happy, then kissed him. Arianna caught them together and demanded to know what was going on. Brady explained that Nic was pardoned. Nic added she was kissing Brady good-bye, but Ari wasn't ready to let her off the hook so easily. Brady tried to calm her down and asked if Ari still wanted to marry him.
Vivian returned to the Kiriakis mansion and told Victor she'd marry him. She added that she wasn't going to kill Carly.
Friday
Rafe made calls to get leads on Nicole. EJ came into the living room and was surprised he was still there. He asked if it was wise that Rafe was still there, noting that Sami told him she wanted to spend time apart. Rafe said he was there to talk to EJ alone — about Anna. Agent H pointed out that nothing Anna did with the kidnapping made sense. EJ noted that Tony's death pushed Anna over the edge. Rafe revealed that he believed that Anna would have needed help to pull off the scheme. EJ considered Rafe's suspicions.
At the DiMera manse, Kate gave Stefano his pills. Will came to visit and told his grandmother he was grounded and returned the gift she gave him. Stefano realized that Will got in trouble for letting him see Sydney. Will told Kate and Stefano that he didn't like being played by them. He told them how EJ called him a "bloody bastard," which incensed both Kate and the Phoenix. Stef vowed to take care of it and called EJ to come over. Will confided in Kate that Mia was two-timing him so he dumped her. As Will was leaving, EJ entered — followed by Rafe, who questioned Stefano about Anna's involvement in Sydney's kidnapping. Stefano had no idea what he was talking about. EJ faux scoffed at his father's reaction. Stefano was outraged that they would think he would harm his beloved grandchild. Kate entered and Stefano filled her in about Anna. She, too, was shocked. Stefano swore he was in no way involved in the babynapping. Rafe believed him and decided to go to Santo Domingo.
In Santo Domingo, Brady tried to mediate between Nicole and Arianna. Ari pointed out that Nicole being free changed everything. Brady insisted he wanted to marry Ari. Ari said she did, too, to which Nicole pointed out that she didn't have a prayer. An annoyed Brady told Nicole to butt out. She went to the bar. Brady insisted to Arianna that Nicole wasn't a threat. Nic was pleased they were bickering. Ari said she didn't want to marry him until they knew where they stood with Nicole. Brady convinced Ari that she was his first priority and they decided to find the justice of the peace and marry. After they headed out, the justice of the peace came to the bar, looking for the bride and groom. Nicole offered to help him pass the time. While she was being all flirty, Fay sauntered in and asked Nicole what the hell she was doing. She handed her daughter some money and chastised her for not being in touch since getting out of prison. Nicole made a passionate speech to her mother that Brady was the man for her. While they were chatting, the bride and groom returned. Brady introduced Fay to Ari. He explained that they weren't married yet because the garden was soaked, which thrilled Nicole. Ari and Brady headed back to her room, where she showed him that the pearl necklace he bought for her broke. She wondered if their Santo Domingo nups were cursed and suggested they wait to wed. He asked if she was getting cold feet, but she said no. They had sex. Back in the lobby, Fay urged Nicole to find a man who loved only her and urged her to let Brady go and start a new life. Nicole needed to start a new life, too, Fay added. Nicole thought her mom made sense. Brady and Ari came downstairs, ready to wed, but the justice of the peace said there had been a shocking turn of events. Ari yelled at Nicole and asked what she did now.
Mia and Chad were happy to have a break in their busy day at Java. She happily reported (and lied) that she ended things with Will. Chad asked how Will took it. Mia said that he was a wreck. They kissed. Gabi interrupted and placed her coffee order. Chad made her coffee while the girls argued. He overheard Gabi reveal that Will dumped Mia, not the other way around. A peeved Mia secretly ruined Gabi's drink to pay her back. After Gabi left, Chad lit into Mia and dumped her for lying. Again.
Anna popped up in parts unknown, ready to get a massage from a handsome masseuse.
