DAYS Week of March 30, 2009
Monday
Sami thanked Father Matt for baptizing Grace. Rafe was flattered the baby's middle name was Rafaela. Sami told Grace how lucky she was to have a godfather like Rafe to protect her. Later, Rafe and Sami arrived at the pub. Rafe believed Sami's adoption story would work, if she said it "with conviction." Will walked in and asked his mom who the baby was. Then, he and Sami went back and forth about Will blowing off Lucas to play basketball. Finally, Sami introduced Will to his sister. "Mom are you nuts?" retorted Will. Sami relayed her convoluted story about the orphanage and bonding with Grace. Will didn't believe it and accused Sami of lying. Rafe returned and asked how things were going. Will asked if Rafe knew about the baby. Sami said he did. Rafe left mother and son alone. Will went on about Sami being gone for months; then returning with a new toy. He felt neglected and mentioned how screwed up things were when he was little. There were times he needed Sami and she wasn't there. Now she had a new kid and it was wrong. Sami insisted Grace needed her, and she'd need Will as a big brother. Will stormed off, noting he'd be sleeping at Caroline's tonight. Rafe found Will and told him there was something he should know about Grace.
"You are not going to let my son die," spat Stefano, admitting he wasn't happy about Daniel treating Tony, since he was linked to the Kiriakis family. Stefano insisted Lexie tend to Tony. Daniel was against the idea, since she was Tony's sister, but agreed to page Lexie. EJ tried to calm Stefano down. Stefano headed to find a nurse to take him to see Tony. Stefano bemoaned telling Tony he was no longer a part of his life and went on about how much he regretted it. EJ reminded Stefano that Tony betrayed him. Lexie arrived. Stefano pointed to Philip, noting he tried to kill Tony. Lexie said she couldn't be Tony's doctor because she is his sister. EJ went to phone Anna. Stefano promised the person who did this to Tony would pay.
Bo questioned Philip about what happened on the pier. Philip noted Nicole witnessed everything and would back up his story about him and Tony struggling and Tony falling. Bo phoned Hope and said he needed her at the hospital. Then, Bo told Philip he knew he was hiding something. Hope arrived. Bo told her about Tony and Philip's fight and that Philip wouldn't say what it was about. Bo threatened to call Victor. Philip told him not to and said he'd talk. Philip insisted Tony's fall was an accident. Tony was leaving, when he leaned against the stairwell and it fell. Hope wanted to talk to Nicole.
Nicole entered Tony's room and announced they needed to have a little chat. She knew Tony was planning to tell EJ the truth about out Sydney. Nicole went on about saving Tony's life by calling that ambulance. "You owe me your life. And you know how you're going to repay me? You're going to keep your mouth shut. Agreed?" said Nicole. A nurse entered, noting Tony couldn't talk right now. Alone, Nicole pressed Tony about keeping mum. His monitors began going haywire. Daniel questioned what Nicole was doing there, when Tony suddenly flatlined. The medical team entered with the crash cart. Nicole told EJ and Stefano she feared Tony was dying. Daniel emerged, noting Tony was stable. Hope asked Daniel if Tony's injuries looked like the result of an accident. Daniel couldn't tell if Tony had slipped or was pushed. Lexie went into Tony's room. Sensing Tony was troubled about something, Lexie handed him a notepad so he could write. Then, she summoned EJ to Tony's room. Lexie got a page about Tony's test results and left. EJ stayed with his brother, who wrote something on the notepad. Outside, Stefano watched Hope ask Nicole if Philip's claim that Tony falling was an accident was true. Meanwhile, Tony continued writing and EJ wondered what his brother had to say that was so important.
Tuesday
Sami was talking to Grace, when Roman entered the pub and inquired about the baby. "It's mine, Dad," replied Sami, recounting her finding Grace at the orphanage tale. Roman didn't buy it and demanded the truth. Sami insisted it was true and asked Roman to support her. Roman refused. Sami went ballistic. Caroline interrupted and defended Sami, reminding Roman that the timing wasn't good when they adopted Max and Frankie. Roman pointed out that Caroline had Shawn to help her, while Sami was all alone. Sami said she was going into this with her eyes open. Roman wondered if Will had seen Grace. Sami didn't answer, and Roman realized how that had gone down. Caroline went on about how wonderful it was to have a big family and congratulated Sami and new granddad Roman. Sami thanked her grandmother for her support. Roman softened, too. Sami thanked her dad and hugged him.
Outside, Rafe told Will that Grace needed Sami. Will wasn't interested and started to leave. Rafe followed, noting the reason Sami adopted Grace was because of Will. When Sami was in the witness protection program, she thought she'd never see Will again so she adopted Grace. Rafe asked Will to cut Sami some slack. Will noted he'd been cutting his mom slack for 16 tears. Rafe explained how all Sami talked about at the safe house were her kids. He urged Will to back off to make Sami happy. Will agreed, but refused to accept Grace as his sister, since Sami would probably forget her in six months, like she forgot him. Sami joined Rafe and noted Roman bought her adoption story. Will returned, noting he wanted things to be cool with his mom. He agreed to help her out and see how things went. When Will left, Sami told Rafe she couldn't believe the turnaround in her son.
Tony thought about Sydney not being Nicole and EJ's child and tried to write him a note, when the pencil point broke. EJ went to fetch another one. Meanwhile, Hope asked Nicole if Tony's fall was an accident or part of his fight with Philip. Philip demanded she tell the truth. Nicole demanded time to think. Bo told Philip to back off. Stefano urged Nicole to reveal what Philip did to Tony. Bo told Stefano to back off. Victor arrived and ordered Philip not to say another word. Bo admitted he thought Philip was telling the truth. Stefano insisted Nicole tell Bo that Philip pushed Tony, if she considered herself a DiMera. Finally, Nicole yelled that she was too upset to make a statement and walked off. Victor realized he'd helped cause this mess by firing and disowning Philip. It was no wonder Philip did whatever he could to get those blueprints. Lexie consoled Nicole, telling her not to let Stefano get to her. Nicole asked if Tony would live. Lexie admitted his chances weren't good. She also noted Tony was trying to write something for EJ. Philip admitted he was the one in charge when the DiMeras wiped their computer systems clean. He would have fired himself too. Victor didn't want to discuss that. He just wanted to make sure Philip wasn't charged with a felony. "I don't think it's the authorities that you should worry about," noted Stefano. Victor sympathized about Tony but said he didn't want any threats. Stefano said he didn't make threats and promised to do what any father would do if Philip was responsible for Tony's death.
EJ returned and told Tony that Anna was on her way. Nicole walked in. Lexie arrived and tossed EJ and Nicole out of Tony's room. He needed to stay calm. Outside, EJ relayed that Tony was upset, but was having difficulty writing about it. Lexie forbade Tony from trying to write anything else; then, left. EJ returned to Tony's room and gave him a pad and pencil. Tony tried to write, when his arm dropped and his monitors went off. The medical team arrived with the crash cart. When Tony didn't respond, Lexie pronounced him dead. EJ emerged and told Nicole Tony had a heart attack. Lexie walked out and said Tony was gone, as Stefano stared at Philip.
Wednesday
After getting a message from Will about Sami adopting a baby, Lucas asked Sami if Grace was really her and EJ’s child. Sami insisted she wasn’t. Lucas didn’t buy it. Sami went on about how heartbreaking losing EJ’s child was, but she had love to give and this baby needed her. However, everyone was having a hard time accepting that, except Rafe. Lucas wanted to call Rafe to see if he’d back up her story. Grace started crying, and Lucas picked her up. Lucas noted she didn’t look like Sami or EJ. "So you believe me?" asked Sami. Lucas did. Sami wondered if Lucas and Chloe were planning to have kids and said she was going to try to see the good in Chloe from now on. Lucas left, noting he’d call Sami to talk about Will, tomorrow. Alone, Sami told Grace they were home free. Later, Sami read to Johnny and Allie until it was time for their bedtime.
Chloe arrived at the cabin and took out a pregnancy kit. She prayed she wasn’t with child. "If am I, let it be Lucas’s baby," she begged God. Kate arrived, and Chloe invited her in. They chatted about Lucas; then, Kate announced she was going to make Chloe a star of a Hearth and Home TV show. Chloe thought it was an April Fool’s joke. Kate assured her it wasn’t. Chloe suddenly had a headache and went to fetch an aspirin. Kate started to leave, but accidentally knocked over Chloe's purse. Out fell the pregnancy kit. "Tell me you're not pregnant," implored Kate. Chloe said she hadn’t been feeling well and wanted to take that test before she talked to Lucas. "Or Daniel," cracked Kate. Chloe gasped. Kate covered, noting she forgot Daniel wasn’t Chloe’s doctor any more. Kate thought a pregnancy right now would ruin everything. She’d have to postpone her plans for Chloe. Kate said she wasn’t leaving until she found out how the pregnancy test came out. Lucas returned home, and Kate told him Chloe was taking a pregnancy test. Kate admitted she was worried. What if this was something else? Chloe emerged, and Kate asked if she was pregnant or not.
Stefano raged at Philip. Philip said he was sorry about Tony’s death, but insisted it was an accident. Stefano went to see Tony. Hope questioned Nicole about what happened. Brady arrived, as Philip offered his condolences to EJ. Hope told Brady Nicole was a witness, but not a cooperative one. Nicole admitted Tony and Philip got into a fight. EJ spat that Philip killed Tony. Brady said it wasn’t true and told Nicole to level with Hope. EJ reported that Tony left a note and gave it to Hope. "It's one letter, B," announced EJ. Stefano stood in Tony's room and swore he would have given his life for his son’s. He lamented never being able to see Tony smile or hear him laugh again. Stefano vowed to make the people who did this to Tony pay. EJ noted Philip lured Tony to the pier and caused his death. He wanted Philip arrested and charged with murder. EJ instructed Nicole to reveal what she saw, while Philip admitted to Victor he felt he had a hand in Tony’s demise. Victor hoped Philip was on good terms with Nicole. What she told Hope would determine if he went to jail tonight. Finally, Nicole revealed Philip wasn’t near Tony when the railing gave way. Tony’s death was an accident. Stefano fumed. Hope promised the cops would investigate. Stefano announced he knew what had to be done and told Nicole he’d never forget her lies. Then, he left. Brady wondered what Nicole was doing on the pier. Nicole swore to EJ that she told the truth. Victor asked Hope if there was a case against Philip. Hope said not unless new information came to light. Philip thanked Nicole for telling the truth and asked what she wanted. Nicole never wanted Philip to think of blackmailing her again. Philip agreed. Stefano approached and asked why the pair were talking. EJ stood over Tony's body and vowed to find out what his brother was trying to tell him.
Thursday
Chloe announced the pregnancy test didn't work. Kate wanted to get another one. Lucas wanted Kate to stop sticking her nose where it didn't belong. Chloe ordered the duo to stop bickering. Chloe decided to head to the drugstore to get another test. Lucas wanted to go with her. Chloe insisted on going alone as she thought about Daniel. Speaking of Daniel, Kate got a call from him summoning her to the hospital in regards to Philip.
Max told Melanie about Tony and Philip's fight. Melanie wondered if they were fighting over her and asked where Philip was. "At the hospital," noted Max. Chelsea didn't think it was a good idea, but Melanie ran off anyway.
Philip and Stephanie discussed Tony's accident. Kate rushed in and hugged Philip. Lucas followed. Melanie arrived and asked Steph to see Philip. She thought this mess was her fault, because Philip and Tony were fighting about the fuels' project. Steph pointed out Philip never got the blueprints back. Now Tony was dead and so was the project. Daniel emerged and reported Philip had been stitched up. He noted Tony's death had been deemed an accident, because of Nicole's statement. Steph told Philip he was coming home with her. Kate suggested Lucas head home to20Chloe and noted that a pregnancy wouldn't be a good idea right now. She wanted Chloe to host her TV show.
Steph and Philip arrived at her apartment. Philip lamented how the fuels project had been the most important thing in his life, but now seemed worthless. He gave Steph a kiss and she offered to let him sleep on her couch. She'd sit with him until he fell asleep. Philip dreamt about his fight with Tony; then, woke up and told Steph he felt like Tony's death was his fault.
Lucas returned to the cabin. Chloe reported her pregnancy test came out negative. Kate called and Lucas shared the news. Kate hung up as Daniel walked by and pretended to still be talking to Lucas. She muttered about pregnancy tests not always being accurate. Daniel asked if Chloe was pregnant. "No," said Kate, noting Daniel looked relieved. Daniel said he was concerned about Chloe's health. Kate told Daniel she was having trouble sleeping and asked for a prescription. Daniel wrote one for her. Back at the cabin, Lucas insisted Chloe see a doctor. They discussed Kate's job over, and Chloe agreed to accept it.
Chelsea told Max she wondered if Philip was totally blameless in Tony's death. She worried if Steph like Melanie was in over her head with the dimpled Kiriakis. Melanie returned on cue, announcing the fuels' project was done and she and Max had nothing.
Still furious at Nicole, Stefano challe nged her to tell EJ the truth about her trip to the convent. He didn't believe she was doing volunteer work. EJ erupted, noting it was none of Stefano's business. Stefano left, fuming. Alone, Nicole asked EJ if he believed her. He did and noted Stefano was just lashing out. EJ showed Nicole Tony's note with the letter "B." Nicole said she didn't know what it meant. EJ said Stefano had no right to question Nicole, but he did. He brought up Tony's death and Nicole being the only witness. Nicole suggested calling off the wedding, if EJ didn't trust her. EJ called her bluff, telling Nicole she could leave if she wanted to, but she wasn't taking Sydney. Tony asked if Nicole was grieving Tony's death, since it seemed like she couldn't stand him. EJ accused Nicole of letting Philip kill Tony and walk away. Nicole insisted she told the truth: it was an accident. EJ said if Nicole wanted to join his family, she had to follow a code. "Philip Kiriakis isn't an innocent man!" yelled EJ. Nicole said EJ was tired and should rest. Things would be different in the morning. EJ assured her they wouldn't be.
Stefano answered the mansion door to find Anna, who slapped him. Stefano noted Tony's death wasn't an accident. Anna agreed, insisting Stefano had killed him. Anna was there to look Stefano in the eye and tell him how much she hated him. Anna said Stefano would go to his grave knowin g how he treated Tony before he died. The last time she saw Tony, they were so happy. That's why Anna had peace, but Stefano never would. "I may never have peace, but I will have revenge," vowed Stefano.
Friday
Hope arrived at the pub. Bo told her Tony's death was ruled an accident and Philip wouldn't be charged with anything. Roman joined them. Bo had a vision of Roman and Hope in bed. Bo asked his brother to do him a favor: stay away from his wife. Roman asked what was wrong. Bo swore it was nothing. Later, Hope went to sit beside Roman. Roman jumped up. "Bo said something to you, didn't he? " asked Hope.
Mia chatted with Will at the Java Caf. She said she'd just registered for classes at Salem High. He said his mom adopted a baby. Mia wondered who the tyke looked like. Will didn't notice. Mia told Will babies had feelings and made him promise to love Grace. Will agreed. In fact, he had a free period and would go see Grace now. He asked if Mia wanted to come.
Sister Theresa visited Sami to discuss hiding Grace from her father. Sami reiterated it was for the best Grace's father never find out about her. Sister Theresa left, noting she'd be praying for them. Will and Mia arrived. Will said he brought Mia by to meet Grace; then, took Mia for a tour of Sami's place. Sami remembered switching Will's blood type tests, when he was a baby. Soon, Will and Mia returned. Sami asked if Will could watch Grace, while she went out. Grace started to cry, and Will di dn't have much luck getting her to stop. Mia stepped in and Grace quieted down. When Grace started crying again, Will picked her up and asked Mia if she wanted to hold her.
Sami met with Bo and brought up how she finagled Will's paternity to make Austin appear to be his father. She wondered if that had lasting damage for Will. Bo doubted Will would truly get over it. Sami mentioned Caroline doing the same thing with Bo and Victor, so that Bo would have a better life. Bo said a lie was still a lie. Bo got a call and took off. Sami looked at a picture of Grace and realized she couldn't hurt her like she hurt Will. Then, she caught a glimpse of the newspaper headline about Tony's death. Sami raced off to see EJ.
Nicole met Brady on the pier and noted Philip agreed to keep his mouth shut, since she stood up for him. Nicole admitted doing that might cost her future with EJ, who would always see her connected to Tony's death. Brady thought it was a good thing. Nicole didn't want to hear that. Brady said if Nicole wanted to marry EJ, he wished her luck and left.
Stefano fumed about Anna taking Tony's ashes. Then, he fumed about Nicole helping Philip go free and called her a whore. EJ stood up for his fiance. Nicole returned home and said she knew Stefano didn't want her around, but what about EJ. "Do you still think I haven't lived up to the DiMera code; that I should have sent an innocent man to prison?" she asked. EJ didn't think Philip was innocent. Nicole cried. EJ wanted to be alone. Nicole asked if their wedding was still off. EJ said he didn't want to cancel it. They had to do the responsible thing and marry for Sydney's sake. Stefano walked in. Nicole asked if he could accept this and give his blessing. Stefano agreed. Later, Stefano told EJ he believed Nicole told the truth as she saw it, but he would never believe Tony's death was an accident and vowed to make Philip and his family pay. Stefano swore he wanted EJ to be happy. Meanwhile, Nicole brought Sydney to the hospital for a checkup, where she met her new doctor: Dr. Baker.
Kate practiced tracing Daniel's signature from the prescription he gave her. Meanwhile, Chloe went to the hospital for a checkup and waited to see her new doctor. Surprise! It was Daniel, who took Chloe off and examined her. Afterwards, Chloe apologized for having been reluctant to see him. Chloe was glad they'd moved on. Daniel admitted he wasn't proud of interfering in Chloe's life, but had learned from his mistake. He wanted Chloe to have a long and happy life. Chloe called Kate about her job offer. Kate said she'd phone her later. Then, she called Chelsea, arranged lunch, and asked for a tour of the hospital.
